I have found 2 diamonds that I really like and need help choosing one. The first one is 2.0 carats, G SI1, Ex, Ex, VG, with med fluoresce for $16,400. The second one is 1.74 carats, G, SI1, Ex, Ex,Ex with no fluoresce for $14,400.
Which do you think is the better deal.
Both are excellent SI1 and both are beautiful. My biggest concern is the fluorescence in the 2.0 carat one, I wasn''t able to notice any milkyness but a lot of people have told me to avoid fluorescence.
What do you think, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome!

Medium fluorescence is not an issue and won't show any milky, cloudy or other negative effects, in fact you might not even notice it at all however some actively seek out diamonds with it! No reason to avoid it unless you want to. It is only rarely that strong or very strong blue can cause cloudiness.
More info is needed for each diamond to help you choose the best one -

Type of grading reports
depth%
table%
crown and pavilion angles
polish and symmetry grades
girdle thickness
diameter measurements

If you could post that info for both then we can go from there. I take it you have seen both diamonds in person?

I only have that info on the 2 carat diamond. Its Table 57%, Depth 61.6%, crown angle 35.5, pavilion angle 40.8, medium girdle thickness, measurements 8.09-8.11x4.99. very good polish, excellent symmetry, excelent cut.

I have seen both of them, and I think I am leaning towards the 2.0 carat. I was concerned about the fluorescence but you have made me feel better about that and I also want to make sure it is a good quality diamond and that I am getting a good deal.

Thanks for all of your help.

and they are both certified by GIA.

Glad to help!

The 2 carat''s angles are a little steep but not terrible, but if the diamond appeals to you, see if you can check it out carefully away from the store lights so you can see how it looks and behaves in plain daylight. Jewellery store lights don''t give a true picture so inspecting it in the type of lighting where the ring would be worn would be helpful. The fluorescence won''t be a problem, check it is blue fluorescence as occasionally you can encounter other colours.
