Now that I've got my windex blue pear zircon I am going need ideas. I bought it because I loved the color and shape. I love fat pears and zircon is my birth stone although I own nothing blue and was not even looking for a new gem!

But now I need suggestions for setting it. I definitely want a ring. I am thinking a sleek platinum setting from Mark Morril or something antique-looking from Maytal or a halo of pink pave. I don't know what I want.

Suggestions, please! And examples. It's not easy to find examaples of pears.

Thanks!!

Nice stone! Have you seen Firegoddess'' haloed pear?

I love FG's Halo too; Maytal would be gorgeous!! What a gorgeous Zircon, YUM

Yes, it''s from Richard Homer. I meet him and had the change to see a lot of his beautiful gems. They are so fantastic in person the picture doesn''t do it justice. This is my first venture into colored stones so I haven''t been looking or comparing but when I saw his work and saw this piece, it spoke to me.

Thanks for the compliments on the stone. Richard Homer seems to be able to make every stone he cuts look amazing. The concave faceting gives it a unique look that is unlike other colored stones I''ve seen.

That stone is seriously pretty! I love the sparkle zircons give off. If I come up with any ideas I''ll post them.

Hi Swing Girl,

Your Richard Homer zircon pear is absolutely stunning. The color is like Paraiba tourmaline. If you want a ring, I think just a simple small pave halo with a split shank would be nice. You probably know this already, but zircon tends to get abraded very easily. It will not be an ''everyday'' ring. Actually your zircon will look very nice as a pendant; but then, you won''t see it.

from my reading on zircon (because I just bought one myself), their color will be deepened when exposed to the sun (UV) too much. You may have to re-heat it if that happens. How much sun, I don''t know. If you want to sun bath, you may want to wear another ring, or nothing.

Yikes! I didn''t know all these detail about zircons. It caught my eye so I bought it. I''ll have to remember the sun exposure issue. I don''t usually were my rings everyday and I would consider my zircon an occasion ring. I am confused, though, because Richard said the zircon is quite hard. I guess that means it can scratch easily?

I like the idea of a split shank. And I like the stone supported by a wide band. Thanks for the suggestion, Art Nouveau.

Up until recently I didn''t even like pears. After seeing a few gorgeous ones on PS my feelings have changes and I am loving pears and ovals.
