I have an emerald shaped London Blue Topaz. i took it to the jeweler to pick out a setting--I''m looking for a vintage-y type setting in silver {curses on my unemployment}. The had ONE book from which to choose and the choice was a plain basket in either yellow or white gold. NOTHING ELSE.

Nothing as beautiful as the settings I''ve seen on this site. How did you find these and how difficult is it to go thru the process? I''m really computer handicapped and would feel better dealing with this matter over the phone once I''ve made my choice.

Would any of you who are pleased with your pieces be willing to share the names/addy''s of the places you used? I could be persuaded to go with gold given the right setting....

Thanks.

No-one???

If your budget is limited, I would try some of the etsy vendors that work in sterling silver.

I would recommend Daniel M for the very budget conscious.
If you have more wiggle room, I would browse through "Hearts of Water" on etsy, she does lovely vintage style work. Her silver settings are often 100-200 depending on the size and complexity.

You could try asking Misha at caratexchange.com. The great thing is that she is able to replicate any of her settings (or any other settings you might find) in silver and replace the diamonds with white topaz to bring costs down. Type "semi mount" as the search query, and if you find any you''re interested in, send her a message. She fully understood what I meant when I said that I wanted to put most of my budgeted money towards the stone and skimp on the setting.

A lot of Pricescope members buy their settings from lan_bo4 (http://stores.ebay.com/lanbo44) and Lord of Gem Rings (http://stores.ebay.com/wenhuihui2009?_rdc=1) on ebay. They have the cheapest gold and diamond settings you''re likely to find anywhere.
