I’ve come to my senses and I’m back again. I posted earlier about wanting to buy a custom made jade ring for approximately $1,400 USD. After doing some intense reading and research I’ve now realized that that’s hardly enough for the cabochon in most cases.

I’m now searching for a cabochon, not too large, I’m more concerned about getting a decent quality one. My budget is $800-$1000 USD. I’ll then worry about having the ring custom made in the near future. I feel like it would be cheaper buying my own jade cabochon than paying the jeweller to source it and also custom make the ring.

I’ve spoken to Yokdee & All About Jade and know they’re trusted dealers, however I’d still like to shop around more. These are the only 2 sellers I know and trust. I’m living in Canada so buying online is my best option as the jade stores in my area are rather expensive for lower quality than what I’ve seen from these two sellers.

Below is the style ring I’ll be getting, although slightly altered in style and two pictures of cabochons sent to me by All About Jade. The smaller stone was quoted at a little over $2000 USD and the larger at just over $1800.

My 5 cents.
I know next to nothing about Jade except that the colour I like is the top top top colour.
KooJade is a seller I admire on eBay. The piece that I love, a ring, with a vivid green translucent Jade cabochon is $48,000 US.
:oops2:
My point is that those highly treated pieces look so stunning and to get that look in certified fine natural untreated Jade you need $$$$$! So for a modest $1,400 Budget you won’t be able to get natural vivid and translucent which might be somewhat discouraging and disappointing.
The Jade pieces I bought, that I love, we’re cheap and undoubtably treated, but i love the look for the price.
I personally don’t think there’s anything “wrong” with treated Jade, if buying for the look, just so long as you pay $50 for the piece and not $500 or $5,000 because the “real deal” will be close to $50,000!

I’m definitely not looking for something even close to as vivid as the stone in the ring showed. Should’ve mentioned that I guess.

Jadeite in general appeals to me and I have a few certified pieces in my collection. Anything except natural and untreated jade doesn’t appeal to me. I have nothing against those that love it, but for me I’d never add anything that’s not Grade A to my collection. I’m willing to spend even more in that case if necessary, but I know I can get something decent within my budget.

I think for anything approaching imperial jade, you are looking at >10K USD even for small cabochon 2ct, Kathys in Taiwan sand I passed as I wanted st least 2ct.

If you want a step below and settle for vivid or emerald green can get cabochons for $5-10K USD for 3-5ct.
I have a deep green jadeite cabochon that I’m happy to let go, but shouldn’t advertise details here, can look at sales forum here or Loupetroop.

I love the quality but it’s still much more than I can afford presently. I’m not after the highest quality.

I’m looking for something more like this. For reference this is $760 USD from a certified and trusted dealer

He has access to an excellent lab so no fear of fakes. I'm not sure how much stock he has so maybe message him.

Have you looked at Kathy Jade yet? They have a large range of stock.

Thank you! I’ve never seen this store.
I’m having a hard time searching cabochons.

what did you do to search? I translated to Chinese, copied and pasted but nothing showed up.

This quality is absolutely fine for me. I’m willing to downsize for a slightly higher quality too. I’m having a hard time searching on that website but I’ll just click everything until I find it lol.

That Instagram link doesn’t work for me. I’ll try to search him up as well. Thank you!

KOOJADE on eBay is the US branch of KATHY JADE LINK

Thank you for sharing. Just curious, do you think her prices are reasonable compared to let’s say Yokdee/AllAboutJade?
