Hi everyone! This is my first post here. My fiance gave me a ring that belong to his mom, and his grandma before her. His mom said it was possibly his grandpa's mother's before as well. It was his grandma's from her first marriage with the father of her children who passed 47 years ago, and she doesn't like to talk about it so asking her for more information about the ring is basically out of the question. It's 14 karot gold with an illusion setting, and has the numbers 727 stamped on it. I would really love to find out roughly the age of the ring before we get it appraised. Any information about when this type of ring was popular would help!
Thanks so much!

That is an illusion setting and my guess would be it is from the 40s, as round diamonds in square illusion heads were pretty common then. I'd guess it was the grandmother's but not ever the great-grandmother's.

I agree with distracts. The illusion head settings were popular in the 40s and 50s. They are so much fun!in fact, Stuller still makes one very similar.
