Hi
I am looking into buying a ruby ring and wanted to know thoughts on this one

it looks it’s like the Tokyo lab is in Thailand , and varying reviews saying they are good
I did come across one review where they said no heat, but the stone had Fracture filling ( I believe the stone was got from HSN if I recall correctly

what do u think about this stone

i did ask for the certificate and all it lists is no heat - no other information on the stone and I guess I am not sure if it will have any other treatments ?

It's very well priced, but of course I'd be sour on making a purchase if I'm not convinced by the lab that calls it unheated. The transparency is awesome, and I wonder if it's a Thai ruby without much UV fluorescence. At that price, it's a steal even if the ruby quality was heated with minor residues.

I’ve bought from them before and they are awesome! They have an excellent return policy so if you decided that you couldn’t trust the certificate you could return it. It’s a beautiful ring. Let us know what you decide.

It is definitely petite on the model's hand -- and everyone uses small models. I thought it might be deep but does not look like that on the lateral view.

Their "appraisal" options are kinda sus, imo. In-house or a graduate gemologist for extra $...? Not a report -- just a knowledgeable appraiser?

I’ve bought 6 times from Ivy & Rose and cant fault their service, their prices and the items I bought. I’m in Australia so I can’t really return items so it’s important for me to have confidence in vendors.
They will have checked it “informally” themselves, they don’t want to be selling misrepresented items!
If it’s unheated it can’t have had any other treatments because glass filling and beryllium diffusion require heat.
So if you love the ring, I think the price is great.

Hi @Bron357 thanks - I am so new to this and didn’t understand that no heat also implied that .
yes I am thinking really hard about it. There was another ring that I liked but it got sold out ...so this is my second choice will probably make up my mind soon .
Thanks so much

I think maybe the Tokyo Gem Laboratory is referrring to this company, a Japanese run company that also has an office in Thailand.

The color to me is spectacular!

@Dhana,

I am thinking the colour might be darker in most lights than in the photo. Have you asked for other photos, say one taken indoors in natural light? Does the cert picture show a darker stone?

I will ask for pictures in natural light

It looks like a very spready ruby for its carat weight.

I would, as I noticed that the picture of the ring on the hand is not somebody actually wearing the ring, but a picture of the ring photo-edited onto a picture of a hand - you can see the slight yellow light around the ring part, and if you flip the picture of the ring upside down, it has the same reflection pattern etc. as the one in the photo. Nothing wrong with this to give a sense of what the ring looks like worn, but it might mean that in real life, the stone looks darker on the hand, so better to see actual photos of it worn on the hand (in my opinion).

I’m a new shopper to rubies but even I know this is impossible if I’m reading the price of $895.00 for the entire ring correctly.

@Dhana -- I'm curious if you ended up getting additional pictures and/or ended up purchasing this ring? If you ended up buying it, how was it in person? I'd love to see pictures! Thanks!
