Need opinions on this Round 1.84 G VS2 stone - pls help!

my jeweler friend inspected the stone and rejected it only because of the mixed tinge. otherwise its a good stone . But , he said he would not buy it.

I now have two more choices.

1.8 G VVS2 by IGI - HCA 2.9 VG, VG, G ,G - $9100
(https://ds-360.jaykar.co.in/ds_360.php?chk=QWxs&q=SllLMTdKMjMxMDc1LVA=0) Friend saw it and said its a good stone - more like a decent GIA and is saying its a good option

1.81 H VS2 GIA - HCA 1.8, VG, EX, VG, VG - $10,200 (above my ideal budget of $9000) - My friend has not seen this physically yet
Video and ASET images : http://app.dnavin.com/Account/dnapage?PacketNo=50174

Both Certs attached...

Really appreciate all you guys' help here!

The 1.81 has potential

yea but its more than what I would ideally like to pay ....its a waste off money in my opinion with no resale value so im looking for a good stone with bang for my buck.

any idea why the mixed tinge would be bad? its a 1.7 GIA h VS1 with HCA 2.5 for 8230$

Glowy Raves are the Only kind i buy.... i have a theory in few years they'll be appreciated more + sell at a premium...

mixed tinge means not just yellow - could be brown, green or gray... the market discounts $ them and they are harder to sell etc...... on the other hand, some people claim the brown tinted can look whiter face up than the yellows so you could save $ if you like how it looks....

Guys - need some more help please. I know I've asked too many questions here but you all are so helpful.

I've come across a 1.7 G VS2 stone in dubai from HRD priced at $7,700 .

HCA score of 2 - VG, VG , VG, EX

Cert attached - curious on those proportions since the table is quite large at 61... would this be a bad stone to buy ? dont have pics or videos so I know its not very helpful but just looking at the HCA score and cert , what are your thoughts?

This diamond is what is known as a 60/60 type of diamond. The table and depth are both around 60. It favors brilliance more than fire. Some of them can be very nice - just depends on what flavor of diamond you are looking for. I personally think you would have to increase your budget or decrease your color/clarity/size requirements to find a really well cut diamond.

Thanks. I agree on the budget and happy to go upto $9K ish.

But Was wondering if this priced correctly given that nice HCA score and if it’s ok to buy a 60/60 diamond

Yes, it is ok to buy a 60/60 diamond - AFTER you have seen images and videos. They are not all made the same.

Looks like there are some inclusions that are repeating in the facets of the diamond. Not sure how significant they might be. What are your thoughts on the diamond?

Not a fan of the 60/60 you just posted

The 1.81 has potential

im able to get it for $9,700 now ....seems like its worth paying $500-700$ to get a 1.81 H VS2 GIA stone vs a 1.84 G VS 2 HRD for $9200

same supplier also has a 1.75 H VS1 for $8500 ....

1.81 H VS2 for $9700

which is the better looking stone from the video and ASET images?

Now I have the following 3 choices choices

1.75 H VS1 GIA for $8500 ....
HCA 4.7 G ,G ,G , VG

1.81 H VS2 GIA for $9700
HCA 1.8 VG, E , VG, VG (spread)- looks small

1.84 G VS2 HRD for $9100 (sealed and not able to open)
HCA 1.8 ( Vg, EX, VG, VG spread - looks small)

which is the best stone ? I am thinking the 1.81 H VS2 may be the best option.

What do you think by looking them from the video and ASET images?

thoughts on this 1.75 H VS1 GIA (http://app.dnavin.com/Account/dnapage?PacketNo=47270) vs 1.81 H VS 2 GIA (http://app.dnavin.com/Account/dnapage?PacketNo=50174)?

1.75 - $8600
1.81 - $9700

Could be differences in their movie shoot set-ups but to Me... the blister pack 1.84 HRD G @ $9,100 seems less tinted than the 1.81 GIA H $9,700
1.81 GIA is also a tad deep @ 62.8... it's facing up smaller- ...it has some table leakage...

Gorgeous diamond. Under budget. And the specs L x W only slightly smaller than the 1.81. Must you buy it in Dubai?

In my limited experience, my ideal cut diamonds look “larger” (also brighter, whiter, more brilliant, sparklier) than my non-ideal cut ones. I have 6 ideal cut diamonds (5 in a 5 stone ring and I in a necklace) from the former CBI (Wink) and wouldn’t hesitate to buy ideal cut diamonds again. I have no vested interest in ideal cut diamonds- just my experience.

This K is gorgeous too. But I don’t mind a little tint.

What size ring is she?

THe 1.75 is really really bad. Don't choose that one.

1.81 is much better

The 1.81 isn't perfect, but it's infinitely better than the 1.75

Thanks a lot - yes, I figured the 1.75 looks pretty bad. So now final choices - between the 1.81 H VS2 GIA ($9700)- http://app.dnavin.com/Account/dnapage?PacketNo=50174

and the 1.84 G VS 2 HRD ($9100) - both with an HCA of 1.8 - VG, EX, VG , VG - 1.84 G VS2 HRD.pngGIA.png

which should I go with ? HRD stone is sealed so I can't view it for light play color etc. GIA is unsealed.

yes, its tough to be buy without physically looking at it. Her ring size is 4.75-5

I understand. Whiteflash and any of the ideal cut diamond dealers will send you lots of videos. You’d have to check on their return policies but I think most allow returns.

Between the two of them i'd probably go with the 1.84 G VS2 HRD.... Bigger face up..less $... i like the 45 Stars with 57 36/40.6 80 combo... it looks bit less tinted in the spin videos and the better color grade on the HRD cert will make the mother happy.....

thanks so much. My friend is going to unseal it today- hope it turns out to be a good one and lives up to its color and clarity

my friend saw the HRD stone ...here is a video of him inspecting it.
Here is the GIA stone ,

You cant tell much obviously but he says the 1.84 HRD is better than the 1.81 GIA stone in terms of lustre and color (even though both would be H by GIA standard) but worse in terms of clarity (GIA stone is more at the edge of VS1/VS2 while HRD is a pure VS2 but not an SI by any means) . It won't matter once set. . HRD is $9300 all in with tax. GIA is 9700$ all in with tax.

Their cert shouldn't matter if we arent selling it correct? So I should confirm the HRD stone? Big decision here lol

If you ever did want to sell it, you could always recertify the HRD stone with GIA if it becomes necessary. Also in Dubai/india/HK I feel like the HRD certificate is acceptable, it does trade at a bit of a discount to GIA but it’s not like you won’t be able to sell the stone with it.

I’d buy the stone you like better, especially if it’s priced appropriately, which it does seem to be (I feel like HRD is usually priced as a grade lower than GIA would be).
