Hello I need your advice on a new diamond purchase for my 20th anniversary. Or which two I should order in to compare side by side?

I made a purchase for a 2.01 F diamond a few weeks ago at Blue Nile and shortly after making the purchase through Blue Nile, I found info on HCA so I ran my diamond angles and found that the score was a 3.4 (35 crown and 41.2 pavilion) even though the GIA report showed triple excellent so I cancelled and placed a new order for the below 2.19 as that came back with a better score and it was bigger. It will not be ready to ship until next week so I continued the search to find better complementary angles and found 2 more after daily searches for the last few weeks. Unfortunately, they have very limited new inventory. :(

All 3 diamonds are Medium Blue Fluorescence, not sure I need to be concerned with this for the three I diamonds/colors I have chosen. I contacted Blue Nile and they said the vault reports no hazy or milky effects and that all three are eye clean. There are no videos available on a couple of the diamonds as I reserved them on the day they were uploaded.

I am buying through Blue Nile because they have the crown setting that I really like. Is a 2.19 visibly, noticeably larger than a 2.02 or 2.01 (8.26mm to 8.00 or 8.06mm)?

I have narrowed it down to these 3: Thank you for your help, it's such a hard decision! :)

2.19 G VS1 $22,141
(57% table, 35 crown, 41 pavilion angle, depth 62.3)
HCA: 2.3 (Light Return: VG, Fire: VG, Scintillation: VG Spread: VG Probably sparkles and looks the usual size for its carat weight)

2.02 F VS1 $23,235
(57% table, 34.0 crown, 40.8 pavilion, depth 61.6)
HCA: 1.0 (Light Return: Excellent, Fire: Excellent, Scintillation: Excellent, Spread: VG Should sparkle beautifully and looks the usual size for its carat weight)

2.01 G VVS2 $19,493
(58% table, 36 crown, 40.6 pavilion, 62.2 depth)
HCA: 1.9 (Light Return: VG, Fire: Excellent, Scintillation: VG, Spread: VG Should sparkle beautifully and looks the usual size for its carat weight)

Do you have any photos? I would personally go with the F because I would prioritize 'excellent' light return on the HCA. But I would want to see photos to choose visually.

@lovedogs, Thank you! I called and they don't have any photos or videos to upload yet since it's a new listing. Is the medium fluorescence anything to be worried about on a F color, their vault states they don't see any haze or milky effects.

@lovedogs, I uploaded pics for the G's.

This is a pic of the 2.19 G VS1 Med Blue Fluorescence HCA: 2.3

Thank you so much @lovedogs!
Do you think the 2.19 vs 2.01 size difference is very much noticeable (8.26 vs 8.00 or 8.06)? I guess I am kinda stuck on the size difference too. I placed the order on the F to look at in person and requested a video or pics if possible.

Yes, it's noticible, but IMHO the highest quality cut is more important--especially when you're already getting a sizable stone either way.

What is your finger size? If you use diamdb.com you can enter the exact dimensions of each stone and your finger size to see how big of a difference it would be on your hand

EDIT. It's noticible, but not a big difference IMHO and not noticible unless you are looking at them next to each other

Wow thanks @lovedogs for the site for the size comparison, it’s very helpful! My finger is a 4.5, but I will be getting 4.75 for both the wedding band and engagement rings.

@lovedogs:

I saw that you mentioned in a prior post:

"In general, stick to the following:

Table: 54-58
Depth: 60-62.4
Crown: 34-35 (35.5 can be ok if pavillion is 40.6)
Pavillion: 40.6-40.8 (40.9 or even 41 can sometimes be ok if crown is 34)"

The 2.01 G VVS2 came back with an HCA of 1.9, but crown angle is higher at 36.0 and pavilion is 40.6, is this not a good candidate and better to pass on it?

Those numbers are on the conservative side. It's better to have advanced images (ASET/IS) for anything outside of those ranges, which is why I think I'll prefer the F.

But to my eye (without advanced images) the 2.01 G looks good

@lovedogs:

Can you tell me the process of how to get ASET/IS images? Do I buy the scope and do it myself? Thanks so much!!

I am not in love with any of these, honestly, but the F is probably the best of the three (although we'd need a photo). A 2.19 will be visually larger than a 2 ct. I feel that you may really limiting yourself if these are the only options at BN. I think you should look at other vendors. Settings can easily be found other places or custom made.

I should have specified that when I gave advice as I agree. I was kind of assuming that OP was limited to BN and these choices.

I was wondering about that, but I thought she must be within the return period since they seem to be letting her look at other diamonds rather than upgrading for double the price.

Thanks @lovedogs and @diamondseeker2006! I have placed the order for the 2.19 and that’s not ready until next week and the 2.02 F is not ready until middle end of January. I have 30 days from ship date to return. I am not upgrading so I can essentially go anywhere. Where do you recommend I look? Thank you again!!

Whiteflash carries superideal cut diamonds, and they have a much better upgrade policy than BN or JA, in the event you ever wanted to change to a different diamond. The upgrade stone can cost any amount more than the original. Their in-house stones are there now and can be shipped immediately. I'd also check out James Allen. The downside with them is that you have to call to actually get to see a GIA report, but their prices can be a little better than BN sometime. They are similar to BN in that they list virtual diamonds and most are not in-house.

Ok I’m on whiteflash checking their diamonds out. James Allen only had 6 diamonds that matched my search criteria of 2.10-2.60 ct and none of them came back with really good angles after I requested all 6 GIA reports. :( Most were 35.5 and 36.0 with 41.0. James Allen has the same petite crown setting as Blue Nile. I don’t think White Flash has the same setting. Can I ask you @diamondseeker2006 what your not fond of on the F 2.02 from Blue Nile? Thanks again!!!
