Hi all. I''ve been a lurker on PS for a while now. About since the time I started thinking seriously about engagement. Unfortunately this did not correspond well to when the BF started thinking seriously about engagement. Needless to say I''ve had a lot of time to admire the all of the beautiful rings here and have come to some conclusions about my own likes and definite dislikes. Long story short - BF got to the point that he wanted input so I started emailing pictures of stones and explaining the differences and my preferences. About a month ago we were chatting online and I linked him to a website with spessertites, pointing out the one I thought was gorgeous. This, on my end, was more of an example type conversation. Although I may have acted a little giddy about this particular spess. Fast forward a month and suddenly he lets slip that he''s purchased a stone! At first I was thrilled and was content with the knowledge that a purchase had been made. Me being me, however, I soon had succumbed to my curiosity and may have badgered just a little (in my own defense I made it pretty clear from the start of discussions that I wanted to have input on the rings - I wear very little jewelry and am pretty particular). Now I find myself in the position of having an absolutely darling BF, a beautiful stone (see avatar), and no real ideas about how to set it. So here I am hoping for some input. How would you guys set this spess? Priorities for me are protection of the stone, low as possible on the finger, and most-of-day wear. I''m completely open to ideas and I know that there are lots of great ones floating around here!

Congrats on the stone, for some that is the harder of the two parts!

Good luck on your setting hunt.

I would love that stone in a yellow gold, double shank w/ white diamond pave and claw prongs. Leon Mege (Congrats and beautiful stone!)

Welcome! Your stone looks really pretty, I can''t wait to see what you do with it! I''m not an expert, but I think a bezel would protect it.

Spessartites are gorgeous stones and yours looks awesome. I would go for a 3 stone look in yellow gold using smaller PC as the side stones. I can''t wait to see what you come up with.

Such a beautiful stone! I can''t wait to see what you decide on.

How much bling do you want? Do you love sparkle, or are you a fairly tailored person? Are you looking for an existing setting, or are you open to having one made? Do you prefer white gold or yellow gold?

Low set semi bezel: it protects the stone yet allows some light though the open sides.

I''d think about some diamond baguettes stepped on each side. They''d really set the spess off and make a nice taper down into the shank.

Lovely stone. I would go for something like this

Great stone! I just ordered one for my mom, so I''m eager to see all the ideas on here so I can suggest some to her.

Congratulations, by the way!
