Tonight I received this aquamarine brooch as a surprise! I saw it at a gem show this past weekend and loved the balance between free form organic, and symetry, and uniqueness. It is completely hand made, the crystal hand carved from a crystal which they had. The jeweler couple completely hand makes everything. They have a pair of moonstone and sapphire earrings which they made which are next on my list, which would go with my very nicely with my moonstone bracelet. As another coincidence, one of the women at the booth, who was helping the couple with the show happened to be the daughter of the creator/carver of my horse aqua pendant. She was delighted to see it again! She told me that she has a small box of pieces left over from her dad, which I can see when she gets down to Tucson in the Winter. She has become a reputable jeweler in her own right. Really, really happy about that.
Anyway, I love the tactile quality of the brooch, the hand made look, and how directional it is. I have so many Tops which I could wear this with. My pictures are terrible because it’s night time...but here is a seller’s picture. I will post more color accurate modeling shots tomorrow. It is a lovely, clear blue and a nice, puffy size. My son told me that it reminds him of a jelly fish washed up on the beach, and therefore, since my large star sapphire ring is named ‘Moonlight Jelly’, after its Jelly like appearance, this one is ‘Sunlight Jelly’.
It’s interesting how one comes back to the same stones again and again in life most unexpectedly ..one of those for me seems to be aquamarine.
