I recently had two rings made to commemorate two of the cities we've lived in. Engraved on the inside of each is the name of the city. It's hard to leave any city you love, but I enjoyed the new excuse to design jewelry!
First up - a five stone blue sapphire bezel band in 14k white gold. I believe the stones are about 6 mm x 4 mm each. I wanted it to be a little different in size from my wedding band which has ~ 4.5mm rounds. This is my first venture into bezel settings and I have to say...I love bezels now! This band setting *feels* invincible. Custom setting by my jeweler in LA (I don't believe he is well-known on Pricescope). It's hard to photograph dark blues without the stones turning black in photos. My finger size is US 4.5. Poor quality photos below from my iPhone with no manicure and dry hands .
The second ring is a yellow asscher cut by Jerry Newman. I wanted a light, bright, lemony yellow and not an orange yellow. It turns out that is a hard color to find! The dimensions are 9.6 mm x 9.6 mm x 7.4 mm. The 14k yellow gold bezel setting I designed to be a very tight-fitting asscher shape with the edges of the bezel angled downward. I drew a rough sketch of what I wanted the bezel and setting to look like and my jeweler did not disappoint! It sits high off the finger so that I can stack with other bands. This is my first and only yellow gold ring (so far...). It is very different from the other rings I have. I love both and hope you enjoy my first thread.
