New diamond in existing diamond halo setting

Can I replace the current diamond with a larger diamond and keep the same halo setting? The halo is set below the diamond. I’m thinking of going maybe a quarter carat up.

Who is going to set it for you? They should be able to tell you if it will work.

It’s hard to tell from that angle. Technically it possible that they can pull apart the prongs and it could fit. The stone would sit higher and idk if you would like that. But if you are planning to upgrade stone, I would think you have a jeweler or what is your plan?

I agree with @ecf8503 that it looks like the entire prong head could be removed and then replaced.
