new pendant!!!

Okay, so I know its not diamonds, so I wasn''t sure where to put it.
But I was asking questions about it in the rocky talk section.
This is a silver pendant(maybe plated with rhodium) from my mom! I think it was my aunts who got it on a trip maybe?
Anyways, I usually prefer diamonds and gold, but I really love this one (it has weight to it, and its a good size*its not really small at all!) hehe.

anyways I thought MAYBE some of you may recognize it or anything(I have zero idea where it comes from etc)... and of course if any of you have opinions! hehe

so if any of you have ever seen something like this let me know! (thaaaaaaank you!!)

I don't know much about that piece, but the design looks like an Aztec Sun God. Does is have any markings on the back?

I don''t think its the aztec Sun God, because this is what it looks like, and unless they have more designs for the same thing? I doubt it would be that (but i am looking into it, on similar sites where I looked for the aztec sun god pendant!)

i of course am cluless about where jewellery come from or what they relate too..but for some odd reason ur necklace reminded me of the ''coin'' necklace from pirates of the caribbean....i like it though some neck shots please...

Actually, looking at the image you just posted, it looks even more like the sun god! Look at the detail on the center of your pendant. The basic design is the same. (Plus you''ll have to trust my instinct a little... I specialize in Mesoamerican iconography.

) Also, it makes sense that because so much silver comes out of Mexico (much with indiginous designs) a lot of detail is lost, and some made up for a better aesthetic.

hmmm Rube you may be right.. I looked at the pendant under a "loupe" (the ones detectives in older movies have?) and it does have a resemblance. it almost looks like the other picture I posted, only kind of "smooshed" up? (hard to explain). I really appreciate your knowledge,
do you know anything about the significance on the pendant?

and! I promise some neck shots will be here soon, the pendant is actually much niccer then it appears. I love it, and really my taste seems to have been going towards gold/diamonds, i guess theres just something about this pendant that draws me towards it.

I think the fact that it''s a an heirloom piece with a little mystery behind it is kinda cool! Just imagine the stories you can make up about it when telling your kids! I smell a movie script in the making!!!!
