Just got this from my jeweler, and I couldn't be more pleased! The pink tourmaline cab is from an etsy vendor, and the setting was done by a local jeweler I've been working with recently.

The cab is a 7.75ct Brazilian tourmaline, about 16mm x 11mm. It has a beautiful bright juicy pink color! The setting brings out the color even more than when it was loose. It is bezel set in 18kt yellow gold twist wire with a fine silver backing.

Here it is finished (natural light):

Worn on a long chain with chrysoprase and zircon necklaces above (natural light):

On the hand - could potentially turn it into a ring at some future point! (led lighting)

And here are pics of the stone unset - it does have some inclusions, but I found them to add to the feel of the stone. If it was totally clear, it would look like glass, or some other man-made stone.

Here is a pic of the stone held over a ring with 18kty gold bezel, from the same jeweler, that I was using to get an idea of how it would turn out. She opted to use a slightly wider twist wire for the pendant to complement the size of the stone.

Wow, congrats! That is gorgeous. That color is so vibrant!

Wow! Your necklace is gorgeous! That tourmaline looks like candy.

Great job bringing out the best of the stone in the setting. Together, it is just gorgeous!

LOVE! Gorgeous color and love the setting!

I remember seeing this cabochon and wow, your jeweller did a great job! It is a statement piece. :appl:

Thanks ringo865, chatoyancy, minousbijoux, missy, and Chrono!

I am just in love with the color and size!!  The jeweler surprised me by using a mirror-finish pure silver backing plate, which adds a reflective shimmer which the stone didn't have on it's own. It now has large wide flashes of pink as well as a deeper glow in most lights.

Here are some pics from this morning!

And the backside with stamps:

That is one stunning pendant! The colour of the tourmaline is amazing. It reminds of the inside of a pomegranate.

You had chosen well for the setting. :)

What a pretty rubellite! Looks like raspberry sorbet. :) Which Etsy vendor did you get it from?
And the setting with rich gold is perfect!

Thank you Seaglow and Mochiko! The rope bezel is a great all-around setting style that this jeweler has done now a few times for me. Halos are pretty but I like a lot of gold showing especially to balance richly saturated gems like this one.

I have found I prefer all my gems in 18kt (or higher when I can afford it) yellow gold...I just love the richness of true gold. It seems like the natural partner for earth-mined gems. I like that it feels sturdy, ancient, and timeless. Guess I'm a traditionalist! ;)

The etsy vendor, Mochiko, is Colorado Gemworks. He is great to work with. I bought this tourmaline, a faceted Himalaya mine tourmaline, and some Siberian jade pieces. Though, I thought you were downsizing? I couldn't believe it when I saw your new emerald ring, and the paraiba, on LT! I would hold on to the emerald ring at least if you can. It is just so special, and you're right, it would be hard to replace. If I wore white gold I would snap it up in an instant! The style is classic and glamorous! That's one setting that only works in white gold however. At least my yellow gold rule keeps my purchasing in check to some degree. :)

I agree, high karat gold has a luxuriousness and richness to it that's very special. Have you seen the 20k gold & gem silica pendant that Sally made a while back? It had Etruscan style beads instead of rope as the 'halo' and it looked very striking! Let me see if I can find a photo..Your jeweler could probably do something similar and come up with wonderful result if you like that look! I have a few small ongoing CS projects, mostly a few small stacker rings in silver or yellow gold. There was one which I was considering doing in 20k yellow gold but ended up going for 14k due to the cost.. :)

Wow this is gorgeous!!

That is a gorgeous pendant Mochiko! I am a sucker for high karat gold. What a fantastic polish too! Is this one of yours, and if so, might you be selling it? :Up_to_something:

Thanks Tourmaline!

Hi Desertrose, sadly it is not mine. Sally made it for another customer (I don't know who) --- if it were up for grabs I would buy it in a heartbeat!! There is also a matching chrysoprase pendant too but I can't find the photo of it now.

Wow, it really glows! That's a great example of what CSs are all about.

LOVELY pendant Desertrose! Great color and perfect in that setting.

That's beautiful! The yellow gold really brings the color out...love the color and shape. Perfect for a pendant!
