New ruby!

Hi! So I posted over on the e-ring board a few days ago asking for thoughts and advice... well, we decided to have a setting cast in town (should be done right about now), and I spent a few days trying to find a decent ruby to set (diamonds are pretty, but I''m into colored stones and we''re on a budget!)... I found one, it got here yesterday, and I love it!

.75 ct., SI2, unheated, from east Africa. I took these pics when it was pretty dark out, so the color is kind of dark. When I took it out to look at it in bright light this morning, WOW was it red! The best part is that we picked it up for $280

Here''s another picture. It''s going to be set in a 14k YG tapered cathedral solitaire (whew ) , we''ll add a couple of 3 pt. diamonds when we can afford it later on! More pictures forthcoming, once the ring is done.
