Hi all ! I recently got my upgrade... I love my stone however I’m noticing my setting keeps catching on everything and doesn’t feel as sturdy as I’d like because of the thin band (1.8mm)

I’m getting closer to my return/exchange deadline and I really need help picking a new setting. I also want something that will compliment my diamond it’s 1.71ct K color ... it currently is in a 4 prong with white gold head and yellow band. I’m thinking maybe a rose gold.

I’m buying through JA so I need to stay with those settings and I prefer solitaires.

Current setting.

Thanks in advance !

rose gold would be incredible with your diamond! i do love 4 double prongs, nice and secure.

im sorry your current ring is catching on things. personally, that would bother me. could it be the prongs are not properly finished?? if you have a loupe, id have a look to see if the prong tips are making full contact with the surface of your stone. if you do this against a light source, you shouldn't see any light come through.

hope that helps

Thanks for your response ... I don’t think it’s the prongs but rather how high the setting is. Im pretty active and have little ones... always picking someone up or cleaning something it’s just catching ... so frustrating because I actuall

Sorry I posted before I finished typing lol
.... I actually love the setting other than the catching on things. I’ll look at the prongs though to see if it’s that. Do you have any experience with rose gold? How’s the durability ?

i see.

low set as in as low as you can go will always be the most comfortable and best option for an active lifestyle

i love rose gold. i have some 18k rose gold jewelry that i adore. i find it as durable as yellow gold. i have not experienced any durability issues

Found this setting aswell. I’m thinking this one with 4 claw prongs. Do you think the rose gold will look good or should I do platinum or white gold ?

Referring to the color of prongs... should I do platinum or rose gold?

i favour your first option the most. 4 double claw prongs offers security without the look of too many prongs. i quite like the look of 4 prongs on a round stone. i am, especially, fond of 4 double prongs on a round stone.

if i had a k color diamond, i would play up the warmth and leave the prongs rose gold.

after all that is said, you are the highest authority on what you love and what you wish to see on your hand

@Big Fat Facets thanks so much I agree to go with what I love ... I’m going to go with the double prong rose gold setting ! I’ll post once it’s done 8)

Did you ask JA if they can do that first one for a cushion (it says round or princess which may be close enough).

that's great! i think you will be happy and satisfied going with what you love. 4 double claw prongs on your cushion is going to be so beautiful AND secure. be sure to remind them that you lead an active lifestyle and that your current setting height catches on everything. sometimes, its easy to forget these sorts of things which leads to problems later on ...

eager to see the your new ring and very happy for you!!

@tyty333 yes I spoke to somein their customs department and she said it’s possible :appl:
@Big Fat Facets yes I spoke at length with their customs department and let her know and she assured me this setting would be low and rose gold is very durable.
I’m really looking forward to getting it done ! Thanks for your help !
