Hello! I just purchased a 9 carat sherry topaz from Mastercutgems. I’ve been looking at it for a while and the holiday sale got to me! It’s my first mastercutgems purchase and I love it. I’d like to have it set one day but don’t know where to start. I love Victorian through Art Deco jewelry and would lean in that direction but haven’t seen many with large, square stones. Adding a halo of diamonds would certainly be out of my price range and I’m no fan of CZ though I wouldn’t be against purchasing something like a set of small round champagne topaz or something similar? Any suggestions in terms of goldsmiths or design ideas would be appreciated. The idea of just walking into a jeweler kind of makes me nervous.

The stone looks brilliant or dark depending on the angle so I’ll post a few photos.

I'm not the most creative person when it comes to mounting designs, but I just wanted to say CONGRATS on your beautiful new stone!

Thank you! I’m really pleased with how fast it shipped and everything else so I can see why people on PS seem to love mastercutgems so much…

It's pretty! But mostly just here to say that Sherry Topaz was spouse's name in her first career.

Ladies and gentlemen, the incomparable Sherry Topaz! I'm having visions of a (classy, of course) show girl with a big feathered headpiece in Vegas. Or a lounge act! Now I need to know. 8)

I actually bought an orangey-brown zircon recently, and decided to set it with like-colored gems for a fall look. Just a suggestion. I'd love to see the finished piece!

Lovely topaz!
Since you are asking for design ideas

An all metal w/ embellishments would be my suggestion.
If you are open to other era, look up citrine/topaz/aqua mid century rings. Lots of lovely deigns in the all metal with embellishment category.

These are great suggestions and I do like some of those designs quite a bit. Thank you!
