Ok seeing as how I got so MUCH help last year with our trip from Australia to the US I need your help again

.
Here''s the deal DH and I are turning 50 and I have always wanted to have a birthday of note in NewYork. Husband liked the idea especially when Iagreed to see a Yankees game

Well we loved Hawaii and San Fran last year and DH love Las Vegas too!
We think we want to have a stop over coming or going to Hawaii (Bear in mind we are down under in Australia). We probaBLY want to spend a couple of days in SF and a week in New York.
I had thought we could go Honolulu/ New York but now realise this is a big distance and so need to go via SF La etc.
What would you suggest. I don''t just want to be at an airport if it is worthwhile getting a flight from Hawaii to some other closer to east coast city and having a couple of nights there?
Thanks

I would pick a different city, maybe chicago, DC, philly, boston....but then again I hate long flights.

Katebar,
How exciting!!! My question that may help others in helping you decide is how long does it take to get from where you are to SF and HI? Then how long does it take to get to NY from SF and HI. I know just from Hawaii to New Mexico is something like 9 hrs so I would guess from HI to NY would be super long but it might be worth it if you really want to go to Hawaii. I love both SF and HI; what a fun dilemma

Eta: when is this trip happening? I guess that would also help figure out an alternate city. For example I wouldn't want to do PHX in the middle of summer.

Hi Kate-
We actually were in Hawaii in December. The flight from the NY area was 12 hours...long but doable (especially if you''ve been sitting on a beach for a couple days). But I think if you can stop either in LA or San Fran (or maybe Vegas) for a few days after a few days in Honolulu, that''d be much better. I would definitely not just make it a layover in the airport. It would cut your leg from the west coast to NY to about 6 hours (+/- 1 hour).

Thanks Tacori I am ok with long flights but my DH is 6'' 4 and doesn''t cope well. I think a night or two in Chigago boston or DC might work but my husband now wants to go to Las Vegas as last time we had our 16 year old and did''nt do too many adult things.

. The flight to Hawaii from home is 9 hours. To SF it is 15 hours. I can easily do the 15 hours going home as it just seems to fly. 9 hours to Hawaii is doable as we will probably upgrade to business. We fly Qantas the Australian airline which not blowing our trumpet is far more passenger friendly than the US airlines we have flown with. But they don''t fly fly from Hawaii to the US mainland. I don''t want to a l really long haul on American Airlines.
We will probably go August which know is hot then but DH wants to see a yankees game!

Thanks scarlet I think this is the way to go as you have suggested. Now the planning starts

oh, well I *am* a vegas lover so I can understand that!

Oh, I''d buy your Yankees tickets in advance since its the last season at the stadium (especially if you''re looking to go to a popular game on a weekend).

Oh thanks for that Scarlet16. If we can''t get tickets we wont be going

More reason to get onto this!
