Nice (yellow) pendant stone?

I have a yellow sapphire ring and love it. I would however like to find a stone to make into a pendant that would coordinate nicely with the sapphire without the expense of a sapphire. Suggestions and/or pics would be most appreciated. My sapphire ring is in my avatar so you can see the yellow color that I am after. Thanks for all your help in advance!

Have you looked into Mali garnet? It usually has a greenish or little brownish undertone, but you can still find the yellower one. And it has beautiful dispersion.

Yellow/gold tourmaline could be another alternative.

Chrysoberyl - you can get some lemon coloured ones but they will be verging towards green
Golden beryl - might be a challenge to find
Citrine - again will be a challenge to find a yellow rather than orange/brown one

The problem is that your sapphire is a lovely buttery yellow. Finding a gem with that colour isn''t easy. If treatment isn''t a problem for you then how about a BE diffused sapphire. It should be relatively easy to find if you want to go down that route.

For a pendant you don''t really need the toughness of sapphire and so I would go with golden beryl. If you can find one in a lighter shade it could nearly match the color of your avatar. Here''s an oval under bright and dim fluorescent lights. These don''t change much from fluorescent to incandescent and so the color shown is fairly accurate and indicative of this stone type. These are not too hard to find and so are quite inexpensive compared to sapphire.

I totally agree.... this is a photo of an 11mm golden beryl... it was taken outside, but in the shade when I lived in SoCal and had sunshine
