Here is a picture of one of the new babies, isn''t he sweet? He''s a step brother to Godiva, but doesn''t look anything like him.
Awwwww geez, I got all whooshy gooshy inside when I saw that pic. There is nothing, IMHO, cuter than a kitten.

LOL! I''ve got 7 more where that one came from!!!!

Unfortunately I have to agree with you, which is why I have 5 cats already. I can take no more.....I refuse to turn into one of those old cat ladies!

How do you attach pic? It won''t let me.

make sure the picture has a unique name, and is below 1 Kb *i think*..

Okay- seeing that I posted the No Kitty Cats Allowed thread, I think it is obvious that I am not, umm ahem (please don''t hurt me cat lovers), a cat person. BUT- I swear you guys are converting me. I have read this entire thread and these cats are SOOOOOOOOO cute! I love Tomatoes kitten memoir. They are getting so big!

P.S. Please don''t tell the dog lovers!!

how do you make your pic smaller? i just looked at 1 I wanted to load and it said 87.7 kb. help me please.

Gatorgirl,

I use a photo program [Adobe Photoshop] and resize the picture. I usually change it to 6 x 4 and that pretty much always works.

Jorman, too funny!

Here is another one of the babies lounging on my daughter. Does this look like a wild kitty?

Michelle-

That kitten photo is just adorable...makes me miss my two girl cats being that small...why do they have to grow up?

jenwill,

I wish they didn''t have to grow up. Kittens are just so adorable! But then if they didn''t, wouldn''t we all be in trouble?!

Love all the new kitty pics!! Here''s one of my babies, Jasmine, laying around

jasminelaying.jpg

Here''s my other kitty, Flash. Looking very serious...or else she is just wondering what in the h*#ll I am doing!

xxflashxx.jpg

Here''s one of my guinea pigs, Dean. I know he''s not a cat....but he is an honorary one, considering he weighs almost as much as Jasmine!!

LOL. CLose enough. We'll let it slide! :)

SO my girlfriend just sent me this. I nearly wet myself. Her cats- Jack and Jill are celebrating their birthdays and she made them wear little hats saying happy birthday to each other. SUCH a classic cat face- "WORTHELSS HUMAN. HOW DARE YOU"

Those pictures are too cute! I want more kitties. I never had my babies when they were babies, but catmom, I''ll bet they looked like the one in the photo with your daughter!

And I always though guinea pigs and cats would be a great combination.

oooh! I missed so many posts... had to go back.

Yes, Rockchick, they are maine coons. Big loving (licking) bundles of maine coon.

Kitten Kat: Ragdolls are so sweet! The one I met really was like a ragdoll!

canuk-gal: Um, yeah, Claudette is "tres chic." Or should I say WAS. When she moved in with me it was too late to change her name to Fireball. But we call her that anyway. The Prissy thing is an act. Only strangers get it now!

HI:

Jack looks identical to my childhood tabby--except her name was "Snuffy" (by baby sister named her after the snufalufagus on Sesame Street).
Love the hat Jack....LOL , Snuffy would have never tolerated the same..........

cheers--Sharon

Mine would certainly not tolerate either!!!

So many great new additions....love the kitties people!
And Catmom, that pic on your daughter is SO funny. My Vincent does the same thing to me but he''s a big monster - my husband thinks he''s trying to kill me and suffocate me LOL

************8EXCERPTS FROM A CAT''S DIARY**************

DAY 752 - My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild satisfaction I get from ruining the occasional piece of furniture. Tomorrow I may eat another houseplant.

DAY 761 - Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded, must try this at the top of the stairs. In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair ... must try this on their bed.

DAY 765 - Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body, in attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear into their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was...Hmmm. Not working according to plan.

DAY 768 - I am finally aware of how sadistic they are. For no good reason I was chosen for the water torture. This time however it included a burning foamy chemical called "shampoo." What sick minds could invent such a liquid. My only consolation is the piece of thumb still stuck between my teeth.

DAY 771 - There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell the foul odor of the glass tubes they call "beer". More importantly I overheard that my confinement was due to MY power of "allergies." Must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage.

DAY 774 - I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a half-wit. The bird on the other hand has got to be an informant, and speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current placement in the metal room his safety is assured. But I can wait, it is only a matter of time...

Hey guys- I am curious- how many of you let your cats outside. I have very definite and strong feelings about this. Cats should NEVER EVER be let outside unless in a kitty pen or on a leash. Cats do NOT have to be outside and even the zaniest of cats who is crying to get outside will get over it. There are just TOO many things that can happen. Disease, fights, cars, etc. I just have a really hard time listening to people tell me they love their cats...but then they risk their cats lives by letting them outside. Thss just leads me to believe that they don't really love their cats. In fact, when I adopted my three, I signed a contract to keep them as indoor cats.

What are your feelings on this? I bring this up b/c my husband's aunt mentioned that she "loves" her cat, but put the poor thing out with no claws b/c it pooped a few times in the house. I wanted to rip her head off but I bit my tongue.

I adore my babies so much I want to love and protect them all the time. I could not sleep at night knowing they were out there... I couldn't live with myself.

MMM, I have 5 cats as you may know, and they are never allowed outside except on a leash. I too strongly believe that cats should remain indoors. My cats are not declawed and all are "fixed." There is a feral cat colony that lives in my neighborhood. I freely admit that I feed them. We try every year to catch as many kitties as we can from this group, not only to keep the numbers down, but also to get them to inside, loving homes. I''ve seen too many terrible things happen to these cats to ever let any of my cats roam free.

Although I am supposed to be a holiday party already (I''m always late!) I had to chime in to say MMM, you couldn''t be more right-on!!!! Our job as "parents" to our pets is to offer them as much security as possible. Anytime someone tells me that they think keeping a cat indoors in cruel and against their very nature I wince. Unless a cat is truely ferral, we have domesticated them to the point where they are not always aware of danger and even if they are, there are so many things that can happen out of our control. Indoors we have the advantage and challenge of bringing them a full, happy life. My Ella is a former street cat and dumpster diver and when our front door opens she goes to the point in the apartment that is furthest away from that open door!!!!! She is content beyond belief, with all her toys and perches and chicken cutlets.

Almost three years ago I lost my first cat, my baby Cricket, to cancer. He was a cat full of life and happiness and his home was his castle. He never tried to get outside, he lived the life of a king and knew he was worshipped. My cats all have collars and tags that say "indoor cat" and list all the contact #s. Ella takes hers off quite a bit and I just put it back on. If anyone would like to see a picture of Cricket, please access his memorial at http://www.atpeace.com/memorials/c.htm , and scroll down to the name Cricket. (WARNING: have tissues handy. All of these memorials are tear-jerkers.) In Jan 2002 he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and given 3 weeks to 3 months to live. Through steroids, antibiotics and spoiling he lived a very high quality of life for another 6 months. When he became lethargic and slept through the day I knew he was suffering and that it was time to make that final trip to the vet. Every day I cry for him but his spirit and memory live on....I kept him as safe and happy as possible and I know he loved me for it.

Oh Geez. I'm so sorry about the loss of your kitty. I know how horrible it is to lose a pet...it's such a pure love that you never really get over it...it just gets a little better to deal with...but it sounds like you are giving your baby asafe, wonderful life! YOu and Catmom!

It boggles my mind how people let cats out. You wouldn't just let your dog so outside for the night or during the day without supervision (unless you have a fenced in yard- but a tall fence is nothing for a cat). Then they are surprised and upset when the cat gets hurt and they cry as they put up "missing" signs all over the neighborhood
20.gif

Even vets agree that cats live a great satisfied lives indoors. I'm so glad you are both responsible and loving kitty moms!!

I live on a first floor, not sure how you would name it, anyhoew, I have a garden (small one), but I could have my cats outside if I wanted, but...
There is absolutely no way I would leave them outside. Not only can they pick up filthy little creepy crawlers, but I find it really annoying to have them in other peoples back garden. I have strange cats in my garden ALL the time, which really stresses my cats out, my cats pee right next to the door and what not because they want to defend their territory, you can’t blame them, BUT all you cat lovers know that kittypee is horrible, and difficult to get rid off, let alone to break the habit…In return the cats that ‘run loose’ pee and poop in MY garden, and I can clean that up! Ever smell kittypee when its hot outside? YUGH
14.gif
.

A friend of mine leaves her cats outside and I keep telling her that that’s really annoying to people that have backyards and she should be aware of that. She does doesn’t care.. grrrrr
38.gif

Thanks MMM.

Fountainfairfax, I''m so sorry about your kitty. Cancer is such a terrible thing and it is so hard to make that final trip with your beloved pet. Your Ella sounds like a wonderful cat. I have a similar story to hers. My Godiva is a former feral cat, taken as a kitty last year. We made the mistake this spring of trying to take him outside on a leash. He was ok getting the leash on but the second he got outside he went ballistic. Needless to say he does not ever want to go back out there and we will never try that again.

And they can easily escape rockchick! Cars, dogs, evil people lurk out there. And not to mention that if I see a cat outside without a tag on him...I'll scoop him up and get him adopted or taken to a no kill shelter Sorry. Their loss. If they're going to be that stupid, they don't DESERVE a cat :)

You are a smart gal to keep them inside!
36.gif

I absolutely agree with keeping cats indoors, there is just too much out there that they can get hurt with. Why put your pet at risk in the first place?

Another thing that irks me is people who drive with their dogs on their laps, don''t they realise what will happen to their pet if they get in an accident and the airbag deploys, or don''t they think that they may crush the dog between their torso and the steering wheel if the airbag doesn''t deploy, or how far will the dog fly before it hits a non moving object?? Poor doggies : (

Hope everyone is having a good day,

Bridget

ABSOLUTELY! You are SO right. They wear a seat belt but the poor dog is totally unprotected.

I''m staying indoors today. I had a bit too much sun yesterday. ANd speaking of pets, I saw Batman LOL. It was great!

yup!

the friend I was talking about, her cat got hit by a car, broke his hip AND leg, had pins and what not in it, just to keep it together, and had to spend 6 weeks in a bench, cause he was not allowed to move.
38.gif
Now that''s the story I tell people when they say its cruel to leave cats inside..
