Now I really did it :((

Hi NIRDIs

Junebug, since my bling fund may end up in round rubber things that go on my car; I can enjoy watching you have fun shopping. By all means continue to let us know what you are looking at and considering. I agree with your assessment on emeralds. I have a little 4 x 5 mm that is great color but I need to either move it to another ring or do something to make that ring more appealing to me to wear. I love the gemstones that have colors that glow. That bunny is one mean little devious rabbit but he does entertain Marty and I and now you ladies as well. We are going to be at 73 degrees for a high today. Woo hoo! Is this really Wyoming?

Ovi, I am delighted to hear my pictures made your day. Marty and I are both obnoxious but I wouldn’t say we are comedians. I do tell Marty everyone is a comedian but not everyone is funny. I so agree with you a good cry can really help let things out but sometimes I have to watch a really sad movie to trigger a good crying spell. If I am really angry I can cry too. I hate to hear what kind of anxiety you go through as well. Thank you so much for your kind words and thinking about me. The emerald you saw for 50K sounds fabulous. Did they have 2 so we could have earrings made? Ha Ha.

Jimmianne, people can call me anything as long as they don’t forget to let me know when supper is ready. Ha! I am glad your stone didn’t get lost somewhere when Puff decided to take it out for a spin. I think it is fine to buy lots of jewelry. I tell myself that all the time. I think some side sapphire or spinel stones with Joy would be fabulous. That’s awesome you had such a long night’s sleep. You deserved it.

Kristie, how scary to drop your pear ring yesterday and then have it hit some bricks. I hate to hear it dinged you band but glad to hear the diamond is okay. I would be looking at it closely too. My sister wants a benitoite after seeing a show on the travel channel about them. I found one on ACStones for her. It is .37 carats and a cushion hex/triangle shape. She is all excited she might order it for a ring. It’s a little less than 5mm and she likes smaller jewelry. I love spinel gems too. I had a pastel pink one for a while that was an amazing stone. Of course I sold it for other jewelry acquisitions. Marty took the picture of the bear flying through the air. He was pretty proud of it too. I don’t know if it is that Wyomingites have great senses of humor or is it that we have nothing else to do so find ways to entertain ourselves? I know Marty and I are very easily amused.

Missy, weird those killer rabbits act just like Marty. 3 of them were chewing on Snacks when I left for work this morning. No bears or bunnies were injured in any of our productions – I promise. When Marty was washing my car he did find a small chunk out of my tire right by the rim (which of course was from another “Curby” incident – darn those curbs). I need to go make sure the tire is safe and based on the way Marty drives it I’m betting the answer is NO. Aak you are going back to the 30’s for weather. I know that is coming our way again too. BOO!! Look at you planning on your first bike ride soon. I would be nervous too but Greg will make sure you are secure and everything goes well. How exciting for you! I am glad you love the new paint at the Beach House. LOL at our sneak peaks for future episodes of As The NIRDIs Turn.

Have a great day!
Marcy

Missy, you and Greg look fabulous in your biker photos. :wavey:

Yes, Missy you and Greg look truly fab, you are a great looking couple and thanks for your kind words towards me. I miss talking to you, I am really something else, one day goes by that I do not talk to you and I already miss you.:)))

Marcy, maybe I just like your sense of humor, let me put it that way but I think we all do.:))) I am glad and hoping that you are feeling better, loss is a very difficult thing to deal with as mourning can rear its ugly head when you least expect it, are not prepared for it, or think that you have dealt with it mostly. It can be a rollercoaster but I do feel that you are very strong Marcy and you never lose your joy of life which is what matters. Thank you for caring about me Marcy, yes anxiety developing after trauma can be quite debilitating at times but most the time you learn to deal with it because we all here really love life I feel.

I learnt from my late grandma a lot, I was so close to her and she had to suffer for so many years but she did not lose her sense of humor till the end, I used to sit by her bed and ask her, make that bunny lip please and she would and we would both laugh. She also said to me a year or so before her passing well me and your sister are a good match on the phone, I cannot talk and she is deaf. Both were true but she could laugh even at her illness, laugh in its face. She had a really tough life but she sure enjoyed living a lot and loved her friends and would help everyone and she was such a joy to be around. That was an inspiration to me and you are an inspiration to me too Marcy with your sense of humor.

Missy hahaha I love your soap operas, yeah of course I will stay, are you kidding me? I am honored that you girls took me in and keep me company even through the darkest times of my life. I love you all and really enjoy our communication. I truly appreciate your friendship you know who you are.:)))

Kristie, are you up to something? Polishing geodes or another field trip soon? Yes and of course I do hope your project is coming along well.

Hi Jimmianne, Junebug we hope to hear from you again soon and Callie you have been quite busy, hope the rest of the weekend and shopping were fun.

I will definitely write more but today was an incredibly heavy and difficult day and I think I need some rest before tomorrow starts. I feel worn out. It really was terrible. Tomorrow will be better, right? Hope is the last thing that dies, anyhow I am better now too as I am over this day and can hopefully get some good rest.

Ovi, your words really touched me. I think mourning is like a roller coaster is really a great way to describe it. I know all of us here have had our share of losses and tragedies but we all dust ourselves off and get on with life. We are NIRDI’s hear us roar! Right? I am glad to hear your grandmother maintained such a great outlook and was able to laugh even in such a tough situation. I am sure I’ll try to do the same. Thank you for liking my warped and twisted sense of humor; as I often say I am easily entertained. I hate to hear you had a long, difficult day. I hope tomorrow is much better for you. Hugs to you.

Happy St Patrick's Day!

Jimmianne, I'm with you. No more diamond dropping. Bea was dropped when I first got her. LOL I still remember my friend's face. She asked to see Bea close up and then promptly dropped her. Haha, I can laugh about it now and kept my cool even then. Fortunately no one got hurt. ::)

Have you come up with any new thoughts about setting?

Marcy, glad to hear no furbabies were harmed during that filming. That was one of the more enjoyable productions I have seen and thank you for sharing it with us. I agree completely with Ovi. You are a funny girl and I can always count on you to make me smile and laugh.

I love what you wrote Marcy. We are NIRDIs hear us roar!...And I agree 100%. :appl:

Ovi, your grandmother was a wonderful woman and thank you for sharing those memories with us. You are more like her than you know. You are a strong woman with a healthy perspective and won't let anything get you down for too long. You are an inspiration to us all just like your grandmother was to you.

Thank you for saying all those lovely things and I feel the same way about you. I appreciate your friendship and love you too.

I am sorry you had a challenging day yesterday and I hope today is a much better day for you. (((Hugs))).

Jimmianne, Marcy, Ovi, thanks for the compliments on that pic. It was taken a long time ago please keep that in mind. And Jimmianne, that is one question I can answer easily hahaha. Greg is by far (even before my skin issues) the prettier one. :halo: 8-)

Have a great St Patty's Day celebration kids. We have our annual pub crawl today with Greg's college pals and I haven't missed one in 16 years so I am planning on going for a few hours. Have fun, enjoy the day and don't drink too much green beer.

Good morning, good morning!

I dealt with my grieving more positively when I suddenly realized during an all-out sobbing session that the extent of my pain was directly related to the extent of my love. In that way the mourning became something sacred and less scary.

Joy has hardly been out of the safe because every time I'm wearing her and the light changes I have to run for the camera.
Today we are going on a little outing to the jeweler for a setting meeting! I'm def. tending toward Edwardian-ish. Oh - I just had a terrible thought - what if he wants me to leave her there today? eek!
But first, this morning, I have to stand with the horses while the farrier trims their feet. Not my favorite thing : (

I would rather be getting ready for a pub crawl!!!
People really drink green beer?! What about special green clothes? The emerald wearing would be the best part!

Happy St.Pat's!

Jimmianne, what you wrote resonates strongly with me. Profound and true and thank you for sharing that.
It makes me think of the quote (don't know who said it):

"Grief is the price we pay for love".

And it is so true. The more we have loved someone and given all our heart and soul to that person(s) the more deeply our loss will be felt and the more pain we must bear. I think of this quote too by Emily Dickinson.

"Unable are the loved to die. For love is immortality."

OK on to more lighthearted endeavors today. LOVE that necklace ooh la la. Wish I had it to wear today. That is a statement piece.

Good luck with your outing with Joy and I love the idea of an Edwardian setting. You may remember that is one of my favorite time periods for jewelry and I am excited to see what you decide upon with your goldsmith.

Oh, I wish you were coming with us today. You would have so much fun. I don't drink green beer (I don't like beer in general though there are some specific beers I do like) but yes people do. And you can bet I am wearing my emerald necklace with some other green accents and a green dress with green tights LOLOL. I will be quite the sight today. Greg and I may not be Irish but we are on St Patty's Day haha.

Good luck and please come back and share the events of the day today. I am so excited for you and Joy! :appl:

Marcy! I forgot to say please be careful with that tire. I am sure Marty and you are on it but it gets me nervous to read that a chunk of your tire is missing. :errrr:

And haha on your nickname "Curby" LOL. I get it now.

Be safe out there Curby and all the rest of you darling NIRDIs!!! You are all dear to me and I want everyone to be happy, healthy and safe. :wavey:

Happy St Patrick's Day, NIRDIs!

Love the emeralds, Angelina Jolie's favorite stone/jewelry BTW.

Drink green beer, take the day off, and indulge your inner leprechaun or wee one!

Holy crap, Marcy stay off the freeway and get that tire replaced!!! You can't let Snacks drive the car until its safe, heehee!!!!

Missy, the pub crawl sounds like fun, have a great time! I'm excited for you that starting up cycling again - Dang, you've bounced back to say the least! :appl: I hope the new pedals work out well for you. Good idea to take it slow that first ride, I bet it will be fun to be riding again but maybe also just a little intimidating so probably best to ease back into it. And you will have Greg for moral support! Hopefully this somewhat iffy weather will improve soon so you can get out there. Any yay for liking the new paint color!

Love the pics of you and Greg! Yep, dh went through a motorcycle phase years ago too and like you, I'm really glad it was short lived!

Yes, I think I have every conceivable option on that list lol - actually, the only one I don't have is getting a larger OEC, luckily I'm happy with my ering and have no desire to change it, thank goodness!! I have some kind of ring ADD and get bored wearing the same ring all the time, so I think that's why I lean towards having several different rings. The thing about getting a yellow diamond ring is that it would eat up my whole budget, so that would be the end of bling for Junebug for a while. If you check out DBL and the loose yellow diamonds you'll see what I mean. And I have to reserve some funds for the setting. I'll have to stick with a smaller stone if I go with a yellow diamond, but my budget is good for getting a large colored stone. Thanks so much for tossing around ideas and thoughts with me! It's great because there's really nobody IRL I can talk to about this. I tried dh but his eyes started glazing over after about 1 minute. :D I agree I should just take my time, there's no rush.

Omg Jimmiannne, that Puff is naughty :o So glad Joy is ok, whew! I'm so sorry you had to deal with something like that after the loss of your mother, you handled it very well. It's such a shame NIRDIS have had to deal with these issues from companies and institutions after going through the trauma of losing someone. :nono: Very excited about Joy getting a new setting!

Kristie, thanks for the comments on the spinel ring - I'm a bit bummed because I think it's pretty but I'm sure I'll be able to find something else I like that is more of a sure thing. I'm very undecided anyway, so I'm not going to rush into anything. Thanks so much for the advice and recommendations, I truly appreciate the help. And thank you for the offer of the spinel melee, that's so nice! And I'm very glad your beautiful pear is ok. That was a close one.

Marcy, it is great you are having such warm weather in Wyoming! My husband happens to be in Wyoming on business right now and he was saying the weather is great. Your emerald sounds beautiful, how nice to have good colored one, I really do love emeralds. I hope you can come up with some way to reset it so you can wear and enjoy it.

Ovi, hope you are doing ok, you sound so busy, I hope you manage to get some rest too. And I hope Sapphie is feeling better.

Hope everyone's day is going well, I'll check in later!

Hi NIRDIs!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Missy, I would have freaked out when your friend dropped Bea. I am glad Bea came out unscathed. I am glad I can bring a laugh and smile to you sometimes. That is always good for our souls. I hope you had fun at the pub-crawl. Very good point that grief is the price we pay for love. It is certainly directly proportional to how much we loved someone.

Jimmianne, that is a fabulous way to look at grieving. Marty sent me a text one time that really helped me. He said rather than be sad be reflective and cherish their lives and the good times they had over the years. Thanks for sharing that. The emerald necklace you posted if beautiful. I will be anxious to hear what you found on your quest to find the perfect mounting for Joy.

Kristie, I had Snacks stay off the road today. He hung out with the rabbits on the banister.

Junebug, Marty gets bored too listening to me blather on about rings, sapphires, diamonds and earrings. I am sure all he hears is blah, blah, blah money. I am bad that I like the thrill of finding a new ring but then I get bored with it and want something new. Wow, that’s amazing your husband is in Wyoming right now. Small world. Tell him I am waving at him. I should post a picture of my emerald ring and see what you guys think. I sent a picture to Ovi before and she had some suggestions.

We had freezing fog here today so I didn’t go get my tire checked but I drove the speed limit. That’s something, right?

Marty made tacos for supper and we have a ton of leftovers so tomorrow night we’ll make nachos from the remaining tacos. I like easy suppers.

Take care.
Marcy

I like the style of the ring. The emerald is a nice kelly green and 5 x 4 mm. If I just add to this ring it would be cheaper than going with an entirely new ring. I think it would look good to put the emerald in a halo ring but this is such a unique ring that I think I'd rather keep it and try to just add a bit more bling to make it something I'll wear.

My 3 thoughts: a larger round diamond accent, a PC diamond in place of the round diamond or a smaller EC diamond. The new accent stone maybe .20 - .25 ct.

One other option is put a row of the accent diamonds down the ring stopping maybe mid emerald?

Most of my gemstone rings are 6.5 mm or slightly larger.

Any thoughts or suggestions welcome.

Marcy, that CC cookie with Snacks, it looks like it is smiling

I wonder if the most logical change to that very pretty emerald ring would be a larger diamond? I like unusual settings and that is unusual and custom looking. Very nice emerald. It's almost bypass-ring-ish.

Depending on how much change, how about a small EC diamond instead of a round?

Kristie, I thought the same thing about a smaller EC. I just took some quick pictures with assorted sizes and shapes to post. Snacks and the Rabbit enjoyed the cookie or at least it disappeared at some point tonight.

A jewelry store at the mall has a remount sale tomorrow so I could go play with a real EC diamond to see what I thought:

So playing with some stuff out of my gem dish for shape and size:

So LR back row: on hand, smaller EC, PC (probably bigger than I'd choose)
LR front row: .15 diamond, 3 x 5 oval, some j hoop earrings with 5 pointers to gives you the idea of the string of diamonds

ecring.jpeg

Good ideas, great pics! Good use of the Prozac bowl, haha.

I like the ECs and the string of diamonds.

Which would be the easiest retrofit?

My little prozac bowl does come in handy. I think the addition would be pretty easy. It looks like that diamond could easily be snipped off. If I went with a row of diamonds I would probably have them do more like what's there. I was surprised how much I liked the smaller emerald cut with it. It balances out the bar along the ring but the row of diamonds would do that too.

Hi Girls,

Today I am home thankfully, tomorrow back to work but I like the idea of having a day off mid-week. I will have time to do a lot at home today provided I can get the energy to clean this huge house, dang. Not looking forward to it so much but I do enjoy it once it is done. Also, if my friends really end up coming on Saturday and I hope they do as I truly look forward to a bit of outing and shopping experience and girl chats at home, I better be prepared for them. I love having guests but I hate the preparation. Once done, I love a clean and organized house and having company. At least I do not have to cook because we will likely go out. I enjoy cooking for others but one girl I do not know so well and know her taste and also I prefer focusing on the people rather than cooking the whole time.

Missy, , I disagree that Greg is by far the prettier one, sorry but you are at least as pretty, you both are great looking people, you just do not see this right perhaps. You are beautiful, very slender and really just an amazing lady inside and out. I emailed you last night about your outing, hope you had a good time, let us know how it turned out.

Kristie, I hope that all is fine with you and your project is progressing right, I also wrote you back. Any gem or geode fun or field trips you are planning? I look forward to talking to you as well.

Marcy, thank you for your kind words, they touched me too. I think it is good that you are having fun playing with a new project, you should have some healing energy coming your way. My opinion on your project right now looking at the option is that by far I prefer the option with smaller diamonds on the side, perhaps even smaller like micropave, I find that the most balanced look because I feel that one larger stone does not balance as well and also takes away from the emerald, I would definitely not do another CS, just my opinion. If you were to use one larger stone, I would make that another diamond instead of the one in the setting but my recommendation would be to keep the emerald as the star of the design. Do a large diamond for something else another time. This is just what I want looks aesthetically the best right now. The ring is really cool and so is the emerald. I do love emeralds very much, you all know that, it is probably my favorite CS but prices are generally at least at the level of diamonds when it comes to really good ones so for now I am waiting.

When I do my emerald project, I, myself will likely get less expensive emeralds too, actually I want a matched pair for a pair of earrings and most likely EC or perhaps cushion. Another option or idea I had when I first thought of this is using rough slices or briolette slices, the only thing is that I really like ruby briolette slices but not so much emeralds. We shall see, it is about your project now Marcy and also Junebug's.

Junebug, if you are trying to get the most out of your money what you should consider is whether a CS ring will make you truly happy. Everyone loves spending less. I do too. If I rarely encounter something that is a really great deal and the perfect thing or, well, something that wow me at least as there is no such thing as the perfect thing then I immediately jump the gun. But it has to wow me. This is what I do recommend to you, listen to your heart and get what makes it stop beating for a second.:))) Then you know you have made the right choice, otherwise anything else will seem a compromise and those things do not truly make us happy. Bling and gems are truly emotional purchases and you should feel passionate about the stone and the bling. If you only get a CS to save, that is not so good, as in my experience one substantial purchase that wows me, when it is not an immediate deal purchase, is far superior to trying to save and getting smaller things just for that reason. We are different of course but this has been my experience over time for myself. Then, yes there are fun small purchases and you may enjoy those lots, so it is a valid point but if you buy an inexpensive fun ring for now while you are thinking about your larger purchase then just make sure the ring is truly fun and that you leave enough in the budget for the one that will be your dream ring. Again, I must emphasize these are only my personal experiences and that you could think differently and you must make that decision for yourself.

Jimmianne, you know how I feel about antique inspired. I totally second your decision on the setting, share pix with us when you can of any contenders as far as settings go, that would be lots of fun.

This dropping diamonds thing, well, we just talked about that and then I dropped my ring again on the kitchen's stone floor. It was not a big blow or anything and no diamonds or bling were harmed in the process.:))) but I hate this so much and the only reason I dislike rings and jewelry worn on the hands or arms is that they are subjected to a lot more potential damage than other pieces. Somehow I never dropped my necklace and if I did, if would likely not hit the floor where the diamond is set.

Hope you all have a great day and talk to you soon, hugs to you all.

Good morning girls!

Junebug, thank you for your encouragement. I am looking forward to cycling again though I have (what I hope are) realistic expectations and know it will be a bit nerve wracking when we first start tandeming this season.

Yes, it is a difficult decision as to which stone(s) and ring(s) to go with as there are lots of good choices. Until you feel more sure about if you want one major ring or a couple of smaller gemstone rings it is good to take it slowly. I think if you fall in love with a specific finished yellow diamond or gemstone ring your heart will make the decision for your mind if that makes sense and you just have to look at lots of rings and diamonds and gemstones along the way. :naughty:

At least you are still happily in love with your main ER and so all the rest is just extra bling to enjoy whenever you want to. You have the main attraction for every day.

I hear you about your dh's eyes glazing over when you start discussing jewelry. LOL and same for other people too. IRL there really is no one into jewelry as much as I am either so thank goodness for you ladies and PS. It is very enjoyable to be able to discuss ideas and share bling with each other.

Marcy Oh my goodness, that cookie looks delicious. :lickout:
I am glad you drove the speed limit and hope that tire gets checked out soon and I am glad Snacks stayed off the road today.

That is a very unique ring and I love it. Not sure which ideas I like best though. If you add a row of diamonds that would be the blingiest change and make the most visual impact perhaps satisfying your need for bigger bling. However adding a larger diamond would be nice also though perhaps changing the proportional look b/w the emerald and the diamond ratio. Not sure. Ugh I am as indecisive about what to recommend. What looks most pleasing to your eye and what would make you reach for that ring to wear more often?

Yay for nachos and leftovers for dinner. :appl:

Jimmianne how did it go yesterday at your jewelers? I am on pins and needles as to what you are going to do with your beautiful Joy. Did you leave her or is she still with you?

Ovi I hope today is a better day for you and I am so sorry about all that has happened this week. As always sending you good vibes and big hugs.

I am glad you are home today and hope you will not work too hard and I totally get how nice it is once you are done cleaning. Very nice to have a clean sparkly house much like a clean sparkly diamond but so much harder to keep the house clean haha. I so hope your girlfriends end up coming this weekend as I know you will have so much fun with them!

And thank you but no Greg really is the prettier one. Yesterday as I was going through some photos trying to arrange them finally I came across a picture of us from the 2000's and I laughed out loud because in that pic you can see what I mean. I am going to post here (am I crazy to post so many pics here) and you will see what I mean. Notice how tan Greg looks and how pale I am even with the fact that I got washed out by the flash you can still see quite the difference in color b/w us and I am quite pale. Of course these days I would love that! Also attaching St Patty's pics below with permission of the friends I included. Keep in mind this was near the end of the pub crawl so we have all looked better.

Please let us know how sweet Sapphie is doing.

Kristie I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed and thinking good thoughts and feel it is all going to work out well but in the meantime holding my breath it all goes smoothly. Sending big hugs and lots of PS dust your way.

Callie, hope you are having a good week! I miss you and hope you check in with us soon.

The pub crawl yesterday was a lot of fun. Way more than I thought it would be as I started out not really in the mood to go. It was very windy here yesterday (and I think today too) and I was reluctant but didn't want to let Greg down nor my pub crawl friends. Turned out to be a blast and so great seeing everybody. Most of these people we only see once a year at the pub crawl though there are a few we see more often and it was wonderful to catch up and chat. In fact I invited a rather large group of people to the beach house in May LOL and if they all show that will be a lot to take on but we will see if that happens. Anyway I love a lot of these people and it was so worthwhile going and of course I stayed much longer than I intended to stay. Oh and my outfit (and Greg's too of course) was quite the hit yesterday. Success. 8-)

OK going to get ready for work soon and must begin my workout. Hugs to everyone and enjoy the day. :wavey:
Bottom pic is for Ovi to see who (Greg) really is the prettier one. :cheeky:

Come on Missy, you have not convinced me. Just because Greg is tanned and you have fair skin that does not make you less pretty. In fact, a lot of guy prefer ladies with fair skin. I have dark hair and fair skin too. Not saying I am oh so pretty or anything but I doubt it is these things that make one less or more pretty. In fact, I find you amazing in that green dress, wow and double wow! Green is one of my very favorite colors as you know and I simply cannot it, is that really you going to that party? I mean do you know how many women would like to look like you? Have your beautiful facial features, hair and figure? You look 28 at the most. You are a true inspiration to me. I would really like to look like you when I am your age.:))) I know that for sure. I am so glad you went out and enjoyed it, hahaha, I know what you mean about the invitation, well, it may involve a lot of preparation but will be lots of fun I am sure. I always start out not wanting to go to a party, not sure what that is but then I usually having a lot of fun, it sure looks like you did.

Yes, Jimmianne, how did the visit with your jeweler turn out?

I agree with Missy and sort of said that above re Junebug making a decision, you will know when you have found what you are looking for when your heart tells you. There is time and do take it slowly if you are unsure but I already talked a lot about this above.

Ovi, you are so sweet and thank you for all those lovely compliments. You know how gorgeous I think you are and coming from you that is a huge compliment. (((Hugs))) to you. I cannot wait to meet you in person and I know we all will have the most fun time when we do. Have a great day today and please let us know that Sapphie is OK!

ETA: Guess who we ran into on Stone street yesterday on our way home...Debra Messing. They were doing a photo shoot a few blocks down and who comes out of one of the buildings downtown but Debra Messing. I recognized her right away but don't get star struck so I was cool and subtly pointed her out to Greg after we passed. She was right next to me. I used to love Will and Grace and was a big fan.

Missy, Sapphie seems ok now, I will be watching her and if I have any concerns I may just take her in soon for checkups. We shall see, for now as long as she seems all right I do not want to stress her out.

Hahaha thanks, I feel the same way, a compliment coming from you is a great honor to me. I do think YOU are gorgeous but thank you for saying that about me.:)))

Waay too cool and love how you reacted to running into Debra Messing.

Are you getting ready for work? I wrote back to your email too this morning. Now I am trying to figure out where to start with my cleaning project, love this, not. Starting it is the hardest thing, once you get into it, it goes fine usually. Still I would rather do other things with my time.

I had planned to do a very concise, each person, catch up, but then - no -Missy had to post more photos. whoosh! all thoughts turned to pretty people. Missy, you and Greg are well-matched in beauty.
Speaking of Greg...
I would be very happy to do a trade...but alas I don't think I have anything that valuable to trade! [not that you mentioned trading  ]

Apparently what an Edwardian ring comes down to in stage one is deciding how many prongs [He said 6, I wanted 8 delicate claws]. This furthered the design. Four prongs that go to the shank and four that only go to the gallery. That way more room for embellishment in the gallery.

He will have 6 designs drawn in a week and we will go from there.

Here are some of my inspiration photos for general appearance/shape. My plan is to have more of the diamond showing. EIther square 3mm side stones set diagonally [photos here for color] or in the gallery. The last ring photo I like a lot, with the clovers. They could be set with tiny diamonds and milgrain. I'm trying to fin a balance between too much embellishment and not enough : )

Jimmianne, beautiful. I like Number 1 but this is not surprising because it has that true Edwardian style, which would be a bit more complicated I guess. I do like 2 also for its simplicity but it depends on your style, I wear antique style, so, yes more complicated and not simple. That said simplicity is beautiful too and it is your decision. Some people love the detail on antique inspired jewelry and some do not. I love both antique and antique inspired but modern and simple bore me, that said I appreciate them for what they are. I too have simple classics and sometimes I do opt for them but love admiring workmanship and of course it is so much more intricted in the case of an Edwardian, Nouveau or Deco inspired. What do you normally prefer? Are you bothered by detail or do you like it?

Swoon. All those settings are beautiful Jimmianne. The second one reminds me of mine so perhaps I am a bit biased when I say my favorites are the 2nd and 3rd settings though the first one is beautiful too. The thing is for the first setting you will see the contrast b/w the melee and Joy and perhaps that is something you love (as many rightfully do) but personally I don't love that contrast. It makes the OEC look less bright somehow to my eyes but it might be a different story with Joy. All 3 settings on their own are really lovely though. I absolutely love milgrain and can imagine how gorgeous that last setting would be with milgrain.

OK late for work. See you guys later. :wavey:

You made a valid point Missy, I forgot that Joy was also a midrange color, that said in my experience the rings I have made with K-N centers and higher color pave you did not notice the difference, yes, perhaps if you look closely but it was not obvious upon first glance. At first, I thought this was a bad idea too but seeing how nice some rings turned out with mid-range color centers and larger ones meaning 1 carat and up where the melee was G and higher, now I am not against the idea. My heart diamond ring has high color melee; G+ and the heart diamond is L. I love the ring the way it is with the diamonds as they are. Strange coming from me, I would have never thought so. I think this also depends on what the setting is like though, for a halo it may not be the greatest idea even though I have seen those come out ok too, though there the difference is more apparent, if the melee diamonds are not directly surrounding the center then it can work. I do like No. 2. very much as well, it is just that I am generally not a simple solitaire person even though I have had those as well and they are gorgeous, this is why I mentioned that it all comes down to personal taste.See you later dear Missy and hope to talk to you later, wishing you a nice day at work. It is gorgeous weather over here, I just wish I was in a more upbeat mood but that will come.

OV, I am so ignorant - are you just now getting more daylight where you are?
I'm sorry you aren't having an upbeat time. I know that phase well and just wish I could wave a magic wand and you would be in your happy place.

Good discussion of mid-range color stones and their companion stones. It sounds tricky and a lot to do with personal preference.

In case anyone has missed it - Cflutist had major surgery yesterday.

Also off to work too now - going to town for gas then mowing the fields before tomorrow's rain. I did 1/4th two days ago and will chip away at the rest today. That tractor would come in handy LOL

later! :wavey:

Hi Jimmianne, I am in a different timezone as I live in Europe but up until today we have not had sunny weather, today it is gorgeous, I really should be in a great mood, I need to go outside to do some woodwork and then get some sunshine as well.

I saw the thread and responded to it, it scares me beyond words, I felt sick reading it, I cannot imagine how much strength something like this requires and I hope she will be fine now. I am definitely crossing my fingers for her.

Yes, I used to also be among those that felt lower colored center stones and high colored melee did not fit together well but it can work surprisingly well especially if your center is not lower than L color but even when it is, if it is a light yellow, then the contrast can be played up. A lot has to do with personal preference. Joy is gorgeous no matter what setting you put her in but I think she would go together great with an antique setting. I know how hard it will be to let her out of your hands, I have gone through that with certification or setting too and missed my faves.:)))

Have a great day working outside, I do hope the weather is gorgeous there too.

I hope we will all meet at the GTG in the fall.

:wavey:

Sunny days really help! I'm glad you are having one there. It always takes me a while to soak up enough light to feel light inside : )

I know! I can't imagine how strong she is to face that. Thank goodness she's past the holes-drilled-in-head phase. Good Heavens.
She should come visit us here so we can take care of her : )

I think Joy will be OK because she is all I will see from the top...oh ... just writing this make me think about her color from the side and that the gallery stones can't be the wrong color for THAT. Will now look at Joy from the side and match to colors that way.
thanks!

OV, wishing you a great day over there!!

Hi Girls, I wrote a post yesterday, hit the submit button only to have it vanish. I just had another post all written out and it also just disappeared. Anyone else been having this problem lately?

Missy, What on earth are we going to do with you? Are you crazy? Yes, Greg is a very good looking man but my gosh, you are gorgeous!!! I guess I have never associated being tan with being beautiful. Especially as I have gotten older. I have had many friends who were sun worshipers and once they hit 40 there skin was not beautiful. I love beautiful porcelain skin. I also have 3 friends who have had melanoma so I'm positive that has changed my view of tan skin. I can't put enough sun screen on my skin. It looks like you and Greg had a wonderful time last night. I love the dress you wore. Where do you find such cute dresses? I also love your boots!

Jimmiane, The two settings you pictured are my absolute favorites. You really can't go wrong with either one. I have a picture of that first one put away as an inspiration ring. Which setting are you leaning towards. I wish someone would come up with a way you could pop your diamond out and put it in different settings for an evening. If you could I know I would pick the second setting and use the first one for special occasions. I love the fact that the first one is blingy without being over the top. The second setting reminds me of Bea's setting which is my all time favorite. It's classic and not the typical setting but looks wonderful with everything. Very hard decision. What I wouldn't do to have a beautiful OEC set in both settings. If I could my jewery wants would be done forever!

Junebug, I can certainly understand how you are feeling. Unfortunately only you know what will make you happiest. Do you switch your rings up a lot? The only reason I ask this is I tend to wear the same items all the time. I always tend to go for getting a larger engagement ring but often wonder if that is the way to go. I wish I could change my ways with always wanting a bigger size diamond. Once I get the larger size the other rings go the safety deposit box. Now I have a few rings I haven't worn in years. I love the fun ring I bought in December and wear it on my right hand all the time. It makes me happy everytime I put it on. It's the only non engagement ring I have not regretted purchasing. My only advice would be not to make a purchase unless you are truly love the item. I have learned the hard way if I'm not 100% in love it ends up in the safe deposit box a few months later or just sitting unworn in a drawer. It makes me so happy to hear that both you and Marcy also get the blank stare in your husbands eyes when you talk about diamonds. Once I start talking jewelry he gets that look until I mention how much I'd like to spend. He comes alive very quickly once I mention the price!

Marcy, I love your idea for the Emerald. I also like that you don't see that style often and your ring is truly unique. This sounds like a fun project. Thank you for posting all the pictures. How is your week going? Are you feeling better? Is it cold again? Our 70 degree weather is long gone. It's back in the 40's here now.

OV, I love your advice to Junebug regarding her ring. I hope your friends end up coming to stay and you have a wonderful weekend. I also love a clean home. The actual cleaning part is also not my favorite thing to do.

Kristie, How are you feeling today? When will your package arrive?
