Now I really did it :((

Do the fish know when to stop? In any event they look very cute eating feet, which must be a very happy job for them.

Marcy, I think the bear will be OK unless you come home some day and find ketchup all over him! I did not see any blood loss in the photo so perhaps it IS a loving spa treatment, not a vicious knawing!

Oh Missy - more snow. How did you get so lucky? I hope it's pretty coming down at least. Spring is just 'round a corner or two. img_4969.jpg

Tooth feels better. Doc said it was either an abscess developing or something that would resolve on it's own. I've been taking Wellness Immunity Formula from Whole Foods, which always seems to help with colds & flu, so maybe it is working it's herbal magic now! I don't mind pain, but I do mind dental work
I think the field is about 14 acres. It took about 8 hours, which sounds dreadful but I love mowing. It must be amazing to have such big fields that you are harvesting for days. That is some serious farming!

Barry was so nice. He didn't have what I was looking for but wrote back a friendly note about the Edwardian period and Queen Alexandra. He called her a babe : ) Maybe she stayed babe-ish by lifting weights all the time [see photo]
queen-alexandra-coronation-jewelry.jpg

I love that Marty has started painting. Wow he sounds serious & dedicated it's such an in-the-zone fun thing, and how nice that he is decorating the cave [for you]. Little does he know...

Everyone here is SO interesting - even bling aside  Happy Day from Grey cloudy rainy springy NC!

Good heavens, what a list! thank you for confessing that google helped with the names. Spessie is actually a girl's name which I didn't know.
Queen Spess?
Lady Spess?

Glad your tooth feels OK this morning Jimmianne!

Haha yes google is our friend. Kristie's stone reminds me of the sun. So beautiful so glowy and warm. Ethereal in a way. So all those names I listed have something to do with that. Except for Spessie and I didn't know it was a real name either till I read what you wrote above. LOL. I also love old fashioned names so perhaps Kristie will find one that suits her delicious garnet perfectly.

Thank you for those lovely pictures! I can smell spring from that gorgeous flower pic you shared.

Glad you enjoyed talking with Barry and did he say he would keep a watch on what you are searching for just in case something comes his way? I just love Edwardian jewelry. And yes, she was a babe wasn't she? That is some figure on her. :naughty:

Jimmianne, I forgot to mention that I am in awe of you and your mowing your land like you do. I can see where you would find that enjoyable and relaxing. I imagine the smells are great too. I just love freshly cut grass and you have that times 1000 plus. :appl:

Enjoy your spring rain. I will let you know how our spring snow goes. It is supposed to start in NYC in a few hours I think...let it snow and I hope this is winter's last hurrah. Bye bye winter and don't let the spring door hit you (too hard) on the way out! :boohoo: :wavey:

I just had to add that I am posting with HRH Princess Francesca laying across me. No easy feat but she is too precious to move. Though I am a prisoner right now with her keeping me immobilized haha. Better this way than with a broken leg though... been there done that and I am OK with HRH immobilizing me vs the other immobilization if you kwim. :cheeky:

Missy, this farm thing has been my great life adventure.
I've done things I could not have imagined! Like cutting trapped deer out of a wire fence with a bolt cutter [twice], handling large farm animals, getting big snakes out of the chicken coop and using commercial landscaping equipment to keep the place under control. I am not really that kind of brave girl.
One inspiration that I love is the memory of the time I needed lumber for a project and went to the sawmill. At the office they told me to talk to the boss, who was out on the logging rig.
The rig was so huge that I had to climb up the side to a platform to talk to the driver, who turned out to be a tiny woman in her 70's with permed hair and little earrings. She was the boss lady of the mill : )
I am the boss NIRDI of the farm - hear me roar

Being detained by a royal majesty is not a bad way to start Friday! I hope Greg is there to get you your coffee.
Please say goodmorning to Bea for me. Do you wear her all the time?

Jimmianne, I believe it. A great adventure that you are enjoying immensely. It comes through whenever you talk about the farm and your beloved animals there. It makes me so happy for you and it sounds like a dream to me though I am not sure I would be able to deal with being too far from the city. I am a hopeless city girl and Greg is taking me to the burbs when we retire...I know it is for the best and I know I will enjoy that chapter(s) (hopefully many chapters left!) of our life.

But I have always dreamed of having a small farm where we could take in all rescue animals who need a loving home, food and shelter. That has been my dream since I can remember. Greg talks about the possibility of purchasing farm land near our beach house (there are farms near us actually!) and perhaps one day being able to offer a refuge to homeless animals. But I know it is far from reality as life is so expensive and even if I were to give up bling purchasing (which I could do in a heartbeat to realize this dream) we still wouldn't be able to do it. However I will continue to dream and hope and if I can remember to play that darn lottery ya never know right? :appl:

And YEAH to you and that woman and all the women showing they can do anything a man can do and probably much better too! You are NIRDI Queen of the Farm to be sure! NIRDI Power Rocks. :appl: :appl: :appl:

I wear Bea whenever I leave the house even to run errands. She is on my hand always when I am out. Work and errands. Hah that is all I leave the house for these days I think lol. Costco (and Lowes and Home Depot and supermarket etc) lighting is awesome so I wouldn't leave her home but when I am at home I wear no jewelry at all. I prefer being unencumbered at home by jewelry and bras. TMI sorry.

Girls, Happy International Day of Happiness!!!
http://www.dayofhappiness.net/#happiness

While the definition of happiness is flexible and relative to each person, the fact that it should be a basic right cannot be stressed enough.
The United Nations declared 20 March as the International Day of Happiness in 2012, when it said that "the pursuit of happiness is a fundamental human goal".
The value of happiness has been understood since ages, and has been immortalized in some timeless quotes, some of which we have listed below:
Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.

- Mahatma Gandhi

Sending happiness and good thoughts for peace and harmony to all you NIRDIs and everyone around the world. Plus of course (((Hugs)))!!!

I am unencumbered on and off the farm - that is why god invented cute vests : )
I hate the feeling of restriction.

If you dream it you can do it. I started dreaming about having a farm in grade school. A rescue doesn't have to be huge, even a few animals makes a world of difference to them. I've heard you say that you would like to rescue more kitties but can't due to Greg's allergies. Someday you'll have a place where you can have a room just for cats with a kitty tunnel to a kitty play yard! :appl:

Aww thanks Jimmianne. That would be amazing. What I envision is a large property where I can rescue any animals that need a loving home and then being able to hire a full time staff to care for their needs. Of course Greg and I would administer to them too and not just with hugs and kisses and lots of love but caring for their needs but I would need a staff to help because I want to be able to rescue as many as I can and not turn any animal away.

Just to be clear about the reason we are not adopting more kitties right now is the traveling back and forth from the beach house to the Brooklyn Co-op. It is challenging with 4 kitties as we take them with us (of course we wouldn't leave them to fend for themselves even if only overnight) and getting them into the car from the house and finding them again (they like to hide when they know we are traveling little monsters that they are haha) to bring them back can be quite the experience. As well as our SUV being full with the 4 cat carriers we now take in the car so those are the main reasons. Greg controls his allergies well enough with allergy shots and meds. Yes I know he is an angel here on earth. No arguments from me. :halo:

Hi Girls, I hope everyone is enjoying Happiness Day!

Missy, What a list of names you have come up with for Kristie! I can't wait to hear which names she likes. She will definately be having a good day today once her stone is safely back in her hand. I'm feeling very lazy today. I was going to go shopping but it's gray and dreary here today. I still haven't decided what I'm going to do. I may go see my mom today. What are you and Greg doing this weekend? Have you been shopping for anything new lately?

Kristie, Happy Get Your Stone Back Day!!! I can't wait to see the email that says the little beauty is back in your hot little hands! This was one adventure I hope you never go thru again. How has Finn been feeling? Do you and Bob have anything fun planned for the weekend.

OV, I hope things are a little easier for you today and your friends are still coming to visit. You definately need a good time with friends, good food and wine, and some retail therapy! I sent you an email this morning.

Jimmianne, How cool it is that you live on a farm. I can picture you on your tractor. I can't wait to plant flowers and take care of my roses. I would love to live someplace where we have a few acres of land. Right outside our subdivision there is nothing but farmland. In the summer there is corn for miles and miles. I can be in the worst mood and when you drive down the road and see the farmland it always puts me in such a good mood. Have you lived there a long time? Your story about the lumberyard was so cute. It sounds like you had a great time with your daughter yesterday. I'm sure you also had fun with the little ones. My niece has a daughter that is nine months old and she is so much fun. She loves going places and sits there smiling at everyone. We met for coffee the other day and she was just the happiest little thing. She reminds me so much of her mom at that age.

Marcy, I think Marty's idea of adding the larger diamond will look great on your ring. I'm sorry you had a bad day at work yesterday. How has your favorite employee been lately? Do you two have any special plans for the weekend? I love hear about everything you cook. I have been hit three times in shopping parking lots the past few years. Two times where the person hit me and left, no note! One of these times a witness left me a note with the woman's description and license plate.

Junebug, I hope everything is going well with your mom and you are just busy getting ready for your trip. How is the ring search coming?

Hi Junebug, I just wanted to let you know that Romanovrussia.com has a pretty Emerald and diamond ring for sale on their site. It's very much like the one on 1st Dibs you liked.

Those are great names!!! I was tempted on "Solange" because if MY Solange were ever in an elevator with a certain trade member, there'd be a beat down for sure just like JayZ got, heehee!!

Here is my potential name: Bubbles!

Because this garnet has lots of sugar that real spessartite garnet contains, and this garnet is the true Fanta soda orange color that you cannot get any more. Soda=bubbles, the sugar in the stone under 10x looks bubbles, and also because Bubbles is a happy name  which sure can't hurt at this point!!!

Hey everyone!

Missy, glad to hear you have family visiting, sounds like fun, I'm sure it will be nice to spend time with everyone even if the activities are a bit boring! I'm sure they'll enjoy their time in NY. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's ex gf's accident, hard to understand why he didn't tell anyone  but I'm so glad she is recovering well.

I really like Debra Messing on Will and Grace too, she's great in that role. I've always been a fan of I Love Lucy, Lucille Ball is one of the best comedic actresses ever IMHO. Interestingly, IRL she was kind of reserved while Desi was the more outgoing and funny one. They truly loved one another and it comes through in the show, particularly the earlier episodes, but apparently Desi had a hard time staying faithful. My husband calls me Lucy because I somehow manage to get myself into crazy situations sometimes. My brother and I were watching an episode one time and he said "you know, your dh is a lot like Ricky!" and he's right lol.

Things are ok at my mother's, pretty much status quo right now so that's good. I'm at my mother's 4 days a week and stay over 2 nights a week, so yes, I'm really looking forward to a break to be honest! I haven't really talked to my brother yet, I keep putting it off and I don't really know why. I will as we get closer to summer.

As for my ring project, I'm just browsing around, looking at various gemstone websites and seeing what appeals to me. I find I'm really liking light to medium pink stones, even though I started out looking for green ones! :? I haven't emailed Grace yet, I'm afraid my antique cushion diamond idea is out of budget but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask. I'll post a few CS's that I just think are pretty in another post. I'm realizing I'm not very good at these projects, I keep hoping I'll find a completed ring that checks all of the boxes!

Kristie, I feel like an idiot - in my effort to try to catch up quickly, I somehow managed to miss part of your post where you mention the issues with your spess ring! I'm sorry things didn't go smoothly but it sounds like everything should work out ok. Don't apologize for sharing this with us, this is the perfect place to talk about such things! You are among a very empathetic bunch here. I have very limited experience but I think you should be able to get your claw prongs - the jeweler set my diamond into my current setting while I waited, and he was able to do claw prongs in that amount of time (15 minutes or so). Fingers crossed that the head is the right size for the stone. I know you are excited about this project (I am too) and I really hope you have a beautiful ring on your finger soon.

Thanks for the info about pricing, very helpful!

Jimmianne, you put me to shame - you are out mowing fields and tending to lots of animals, and I can't even vacuum my house lol. Puff sounds like quite the character, but I am so glad you furnished him with a little purple velvet tent, he sounds happy to have it right now! Glad you had a good time with your daughter and friends, must have been fun hanging out with the LOs. Sorry to hear about your dental issues, sounds like you're doing a bit better and I hope that continues. You are reminding me I need to get to the dentist, I've been putting it off - bad, I know. Anything new on the setting for your OEC?

Marcy, that was so sweet of you to buy donuts for your father's friends. Such a nice way to do something in remembrance of your father, I'll bet it meant a lot to the guys. I'm glad the tire is ok - I have a habit of hitting curbs too lol. I love the look of emerald earrings, it's good you have a feel for the size you want, I hope you can find a matching pair soon. It's great that Marty is helping with the ring design, how fun! I love your idea of going with the half carat diamond for the ring, I think it's going to look really good and I'm looking forward to seeing it finished. I didn't know Marty painted and drew, that is wonderful and it's so good to have an interest like that. I did decorative painting for a few years, including glass painting (wineglasses, sugar bowls etc) and I really enjoyed it but it went by the wayside when my mother had her stroke, I really should get back into it. Sorry you're having a crazy time at work, sounds like you are doing the best you can and you're right, at this stage of the game it sounds like it would be just fine to hang out in the man cave if it ever came to that lol! And that pic is so funny! Man, those rabbits look so cute but are so bad too haha! I love how much fun you guys have together.

Calliecake, thanks! I'm glad to hear I'm not being annoying with this ring project lol! I know that I enjoy reading about other people's projects, it's really fun to share in the excitement. Any special plans for this weekend? My dh is on a golf outing, and my son is in Austin Texas playing a show with a band he is in so I'm on my own until Sunday, which is actually fine because it will give me a chance to catch up with things around the house, and I like having some alone time once in a while- I'm going out to eat with my daughter and her bf, so that will be fun. Hope everything is good with you.

Ovi, thinking of you, sounds like you are going through some tough things right now, my thoughts are with you and I'm sending you lots of positive vibes - hang in there and take care of yourself!

Well, I probably managed to miss something, and I'll catch up more if I did - have a great day everyone!

eta - Calliecake, we posted at the same time! Thanks for the heads-up, off to check it out!

Ooh Kristie, I LOVE the name bubbles! :appl: Sweet and fizzy and oh so beautiful! Reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where George is keeping the name "Soda" under wraps so he can use it one day and gives his friend the name "Seven" but they find out and use "Soda" instead and he is so furious. LOL.

It's snowing here ladies!!! OMG it is coming down. Brrr good day to stay inside and read a good book! :read:

OMG Junebug, my dh says I am like Lucy too! Haha yet another thing we NIRDIs have in common. Yes it was so sad about Desi being unfaithful. Why did he have to do that? I just don't get people and why they mess with happiness. Makes me sad.

I am glad things are OK by your mom's now but wow 4 days a week is a lot. You definitely need a good break and a great vacation so you can come back refreshed, happy and strong.

Looking forward to seeing more choices for your ring. And def email Grace as you never know and she is such a sweetheart. Like you Junebug!

Callie, we have no plans as of yet. Maybe we will go shopping too this weekend though I have nothing on my list of things to buy. Except the Roomba that is thanks to Jimmianne. :appl:

I like "Bubbles" too : ) ... Ms.B or Princess B or Queen B?
Did not see the video or the thread about issues, so off to do some thread back-tracking now.

Missy, my roomba is working as I type : ) I hope you get one and that you like yours as much as I like mine.
[I may have mowed a field, but robots are doing the housework]!

Snow - yay - pretty! cozy. Can you tell if it's snowing at the beach too?

Jimmianne, You crack me up. I bet you look wonderful with all the exercise you get plowing fields. I love gardening and playing in the dirt so I bet plowing on a tractor would be fun! How many animals do you have? I forgot to ask you if you have any sinus problems. It has never happened to me but the doctor always asks me if my teeth hurt when i have a sinus infection. I guess sinus problems can also cause your teeth to hurt. So...what are thinking about for your setting????

Kristie, I love the name Bubbles for your ring. It sounds happy to me too. I'm am awfully glad I wasn't drinking coffee when I read you comment about Solange. I remember that Fanta Orange soda and Orange Crush soda. Gosh I haven't seen that in years.

Junebug, I also love some of the pink stones I have seen on line, especially the darker pinks. Whatever you decide will look beautiful. You feel guilty for not vacuuming. I haven't put the IPad down all day. At least your are thinking about vacuuming. I'm interested to hear if you find anything you like on that site. Some of the items were quite pricy. I also think the longer you are Pricescope the harder it is to find a ready made ring you fall in love with. We just see way too many beautiful pieces on here. I'm sorry you are home alone. My husband would also be golfing this weekend if he could. He bought some summer membership for golf this week.

Missy, I missed the post about your friend being in an accident. It sounds terrible. I wonder why he didn't tell you about it when it happened. He had to know the more support she had the better it would be for her. I'm so glad she is doing better now.

Hey Jimmianne, I wound up taking the stone back from Wink and in order to ensure getting an undamaged stone back, I paid for the stupid mount. That's the short short version :angryfire:

Hey, Freaky Friday Folks, here is a pic of my Gateway Diamonds. These paved the road to all the future buying, bwahahahaha. I told Bob after the Journey pendant I would't ask for more!!

The blue thingie in between the two pendants is a glass bead Bob made during his stained glass/glass bead making learning curve. Its a great spacer so the two pendants don't bang on each other and scratch.

edit: OMG, I need moisturizer on my chest now. Sheesh...

Hi Jimmianne, yes it is snowing there but not as much as in NYC. I wanted to post some pretty snow pics from the beach but no luck sorry! There is not much snow there at all but here is another story lol. Oh Happy Spring. Well March has certainly come in like a lion and now I just hope it goes out like a lamb. :appl:

I am excited about getting the Roomba. I hope Costco has it tomorrow. Thanks again for the rave review Jimmianne. Oh and the press on nails came the other day but I have not yet tried them. Will let you know when I do.

Callie, our friend didn't tell anyone. He's funny that way. IDK why but that's him. He is a confirmed bachelor and believe me he has plenty of opportunity. He is a pulmonologist and a very funny. guy. Great sense of humor and also very smart and so easy to talk to. And he is a big fan of good movies and he and I can and do talk endlessly about great movies. But he is who he is and never wants to get married or have any real adult relationship with a woman. He wants easy breezy nothing serious. This girl is fantastic and so lovely in every way. I really thought she was a great match for him but oh well. She had to move on as she wanted marriage and children. I am so sad about her accident and now everything is on hold. I have not yet contacted her because I have to figure out the best way to do it. I only have her mobile (how on earth does he not have her address IDK) so I guess a text is least intrusive vs calling her out of the blue. In case she doesn't want to talk.

Kristie, I love that pendant! It looks great on you too!

Ovi, how is your day going? We are missing you and hope you are having a good day!

Dratto! hard not to keep checking in to see what's up here.

A long time ago when my mother was young [75 years old] I got a call from a nurse at the Cleveland clinic in Florida.
The nurse said my Dad told her not to bother us with a call.
She said my Mom had had a heart test in Naples, FL, died on the table, was resuscitated, driven in an ambulance across the state to the Cleveland Clinic and was going to have by-pass surgery/new valve.
Dad said - don't bother the kids with this...but the nurse said she thought she should call me anyway [!!!}
It makes me laugh now because it's so crazy, but I never understood at all.

Jimmianne, What on earth was your dad thinking? Thank goodness the nurse called you. Those types of phone calls are so scary. Did your dad ever tell you why he didn't want anyone called? I have a brother that can be a real pain in the neck. Love him dearly, but he is a pain. My mom had a stroke years ago and when my stepfather called me to meet him at the hospital he gave me strict instructions not to call my brother. I thought that was a little strange but nothing like you just described. My brother really would have made everything worse. He still gives me a hard time for not calling him immediately.

Missy, I hope you get in touch with your friend. I'm sure she would be very happy to hear from you.

You'd have done GREAT in Alaska, Jimmianne. Lots of quirky people and surprises, like the Boss Lady of the Sawmill, what a good story, loved it!!!

Yeah, Ovi, check in this weekend when time permits, okay?

Junebug, your son is in a band? I'm a has-been professional musician---what does your son play? What kind of music does his band play?

Kristie,

Your necklace is beautiful!

yes, ditto on that!

Calliecake, that ring is gorgeous!!! You obviously know me well hehe! the cut of the emerald is very interesting, like an early style of cushion cut. The emerald looks beautiful, and quite translucent. Thank you for thinking of me, this is a great find and a good price - and I've put it on my list haha. Here's a pic for everyone to check out

Kristie, my son is has been in this band since high school (he's 22) and he plays back up guitar and bass. I'm kinda proud of him because he's self-taught and has worked hard to improve. And I'm so happy to have one musician in the family! I'm also glad that he has this interest, I think it helps his self-esteem. They started out playing hard rock ala guns and roses, AC/DC etc but have changed over the years to a more alternative style.

Ok, the tri-state area seems to have missed the memo that this is the first day of Spring! :angryfire: It's beautiful but I hate it! I'm on my own this weekend and am hoping it will warm up enough tomorrow to just melt it all. I keep looking out to see if any neighbors are shoveling - I hope not because then I'll feel really cheesy if I don't.

Kristie, forgot to ask - what do you play?

Hi my friends,

Just for a moment I am here, I really am unable to write coherently. I think I wrote you Missy and I have been talking to Callie. Things is that when you think that things cannot get worse, they do and a lot worse. For now I cannot think clearly, it feels like I have been shot in the head.

I did want to thank you, many of you for thinking about me and just respond for this reason, especially Kristie, Missy, Callie and Junebug for not forgetting about me, and Marcy aka Curby I love you too and so happy you joined us Jimmianne.

I love your pendant Kristie, well the combo, you show me something exciting and new every time. I also read your post addressed to me and it really touched me. Of course I am a friend. I hope you know that. Yes, I am in this trade but to me this is something that I do out of passion, if I was a connossieur, it would be the same, I still would have studied and practiced and would work in this field just because I love it. And hope you know you really matter to me as a person as all of you do here.

I missed your video and need to find it, love Bubbles, yeah I got into this naming game too as you all know.

I should have had a great day and enjoyed this as I got a "gift" from the state I feel like when I was unexpectedly refunded 1200 Euros from a class action decision in Hungary regarding illegal currency exchange rate fluctuations. Whatever. But hey this really came in handy and you know yesterday morning I screamed YAY. Of course my dad and his wife, very wealthy people, wanted to take my money. Nice. Legally they cannot and they were "kind enough" to let me use my own money on my own old bank account, thank you.

Things in short, I was terrible betrayed by my father. His wife did not surprise me. The way they try to trample me and team up with my ex's parents is ridiculous and I think I am stopping contact with them for now. I am not ten years old, I do not need to be constantly hurt and ruined and I do not need to be told to lie in a criminal case which is for my own protection, no thank you. Then they can forget about me. If my lawyer decides to not act in my interest because of my dad, I will just hire a new one.

Then of course my ex ruined my tax inspection since I was stupid enough to not kick him out of the company on time. We have a contract under which he owns nothing and no the tax audit is only to present documents but he now made my accountant pretty much not talk to me and be rude to me. This I cannot tolerate but now I am not sure how to proceed with this, too complicated to talk about here and I do not want to air this. Nothing wrong with the accounting or taxes at all, just that if I miss the deadline I will be fined anyhow.

From now on I can be prepared that I will have many anonimous reports on me at any and all authorities, my work and so on to try to get me to become a wreck.

Ok, I did say this and I hope I did not say anything but as tired as I feel and as run down and humiliated I feel, I also think that no one will ruin my will to live and fight for too long.

Tomorrow I am turning off everything, phone on silent and all and we go out, shopping, eating out, perhaps some partying are in order, whatever feels good. Hope nothing comes up and the girls come. I have more to do to prepare and no, I do not want to spend my days off the way I had to today.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Hugs to you all.

Junebug, Your snow picture is beautiful! I have no idea if the Emerald ring was a good price or not but thought the stone looked pretty. Keep in mind I know nothing about colored stones. Are you leaning more toward pinks now? I think I'm more excited about your ring than you are!

One of the young guys I used to work with was in a band. We all used to go and support him. We all had so much fun along with his parents! He's married with a little baby boy now. Do you go to watch your sons band play?

OV, I hope you have a great time with your friends this weekend. No one deserves a fun weekend more than you do. Please know we are all here for you anytime you need us! Hugs, Hugs, Hugs! Thank you for posting. I feel so much better hearing from you again today. You sound like you are feeling a little calmer now. I know it's probably just exhaustion setting in. Take care sweetie!
