Now I really did it :((

Missy, that EC is bigger than you are! what is type !!A? oh - google says little or no nitrogen atoms.
We can add that to the list of PS "perfect" diamond specs LOL

See what happens when it is time for me to workout...I procrastinate and procrastinate till I run out of time! Need to get going but Ooh La La so much beautiful bling on First Dibs on a Saturday morning.
Got to get my workout started before Greg gets home with Roombie! :cheeky:

I saw!! All OECs. Better price point than the EC : )

Joy is happy this morning, looking fantastic in the foggy light - lustrous pale steel grey with rainbow sparkles.

"To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a Wild Flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour".

Ok so I'm bummed. Brooklyn Costco did not have the Roomba. :((
But don't despair NIRDIs...I just ordered Roombie pet series 655 from Costco online so woohoo. Don't know when Roombie will arrive but hopefully next week sometime? I could have ordered from Amazon prime but I prefer Costco. Thanks again Jimmianne. Fingers crossed it works well. Not cheap and have I mentioned how much I hate NYC tax? :knockout:

Jimmianne, love the poem. It's perfect.

yeh, William Blake rocks.

Oh no - no Roombie today! I know - they are not cheap! I was leary at first, but they are made to be taken apart easily and components replaced over time and it's all good quality. Exciting! Your first robot???

I've been thinking about "moody" diamonds. Someone said they had a moody OEC and I thought - yes, that would be like Joy. I have taken 100's of photos to get just a few good ones. I noticed that the OEC I sent back for being perfectly beautiful has sold! & I hope a PSer got it. It was really special, but I needed quirky and moody.
I thought it would be fun to start a moody thread, but it might confuse people who come here looking for a RB. RB moody, no. OEC moody, yes!

It's Roomba weekend  . My daughter's Roomba arrives today. That's what I got her for her birthday even though she asked for an Etsy gift certificate. I did put a little cash in her card to soften the blow LOL, but with mega-bunny's hobby of chewing up cardboard and my daughter's aversion to the regular vac, I think she may fall in love with her robot.

Off to "work".

Missy, we ended up getting a decent amount of snow here, probably 5 inches. I ended up not shoveling, but I'll probably break down and do the walkway and sidewalk. It's supposed to get to 50 so I'll wait to see what happens, hopefully Mother Nature will help me out a little here. I ended up going out to eat with my daughter and her bf and had a good time. I had big plans to get a lot done around the house with nobody around, but I'm not doing well with that hehe. I think my daughter is stopping by later just to hang out. Maybe I'll recruit her for the shoveling, I'm sure she'll be all for it. :cheeky:

I agree, Callie's find is absolutely gorgeous, I am seriously considering it…but I'm also drawn right now to the idea of a pink stone in a classic halo setting, so still a little undecided…if only I could have both

Love the pieces you posted, so beautiful!

Kristie, forgot to say, I love your pendant! I'm really attracted to pendants with some visual interest, and that spacer works perfectly, how lucky is that?

Omg, your spess really is so beautiful, the color is delicious - and the mount really is lovely, I hope Andrew can make it work for you.

How wonderful that you are such an accomplished musician! I admire talented musicians so much, they make it look so easy when in reality it is so hard lol. I can really appreciate the time and effort, as well as talent, that goes into becoming a seasoned musician. Thank you for your kind offer of writing a letter, I will keep it in mind! Love the Kokopelli, he's the perfect touch to that gorgeous pool.

I love those lines you posted to Ovi, I have a feeling I'm going to need to use some of them in the future.

Thanks for the recommendations for the pink stone - yeah, I figure if I go this route, I might as well get a really good quality stone.

Jimmianne, I agree that you need to get Joy in a setting and on your finger, she is too beautiful to be tucked away! I love the idea of a setting along the lines of missy's, you will see that pretty profile when you wear it. I like settings with a little extra *something*. And yes, it is strange how our eyes get used to these larger stones, isn't it? 5 years ago I thought a 1 carat was huge, and my dream size. Recently I bought a 9 mm sim just to see how it would look on me, and I looked at it on my hand and thought "eh, I could go larger than this". What? How did that happen? :D Thank you PS :cheeky: I have to say, your OEC really does look huge and beautiful on you, I can't wait to see it set!

Ovi, my goodness, you are going through a lot right now…the situation with your father sounds very painful, but Kristie's advice is really good and you might have to do and say certain things right now that will help make your life more peaceful. I obviously don't know all the details, but cutting off ties with your ex sounds like a really good idea to me. Sorry for all these complicated legal issues you have going on, I can only imagine how hard it is to deal with it all, but I can't help but think it will all be straightened out eventually. People can make all the accusations they want, but they also need evidence to back them up and it sounds to me like there is none. I'm glad to hear you're going to just try to block it all out for the weekend and focus on having a bit of fun. I think you should treat yourself to something special too! Hugs to you, I'm keeping you in my thoughts.

Calliecake, thank you again for the emerald ring suggestion, I do love it and am really considering it! I've been looking at a lot of these kinds of rings, and IMO the price seems quite reasonable. I've been comparing it to the other emerald ring I liked, and this one seems like a better value to me. I'm also drawn to the idea of a light to pink medium, I'm picturing the soft pastel color in contrast to the white diamonds, yum!

Ok, I've been putting off exercising (the dvd I'm doing today is hard ;( ) so I'll sign off for now, see you all soon!

Yay, glad you enjoyed yourself yesterday Junebug. Fantastic that you and your dd have such a great relationship that she wants you to join her and her bf!

You have a lot of lovely choices re rings so it's all good and no reason to hurry. If only I had a spare 2-3 Million laying around that emerald cut diamond would be mine...and I would share it with all the NIRDIs of course!

Good luck with your workout. I procrastinated for hours but finally finished mine. :appl:

I don't think it will be that warm here today unfortunately. Wish it was because Greg and I would take a walk. That's all I have the energy for these days. On top of it all I have some sort of eye issue now. It never ends with me and I am trying to focus on the positive but it is getting harder and harder. Sigh.

Enjoy the visit with your dd today! And let her help with the shoveling if you have to do any at all. Or just let the sun melt it. With 50 degrees it should be all gone soon. :sun:

Jimmianne, I found the perfect necklace for you. Goes perfectly with your Tiffany enamel blue striped ring don't you think? It was the least I could do with you recommending Roombie and those press on nails to me. I think it would look awesome on your neck.
https://www.ruelala.com/boutique/product/80645/13818362/

I like the idea of a moody OEC thread. I know Bea has many moods too. I think she and Joy would get along like bees and honey.

Hi Girls,

Missy, I hope your eye begins to feel better before the day is over. That necklace goes perfect with Jimmianne's ring. I love the diamond ring and earrings you posted. That ring is gorgeous. Only a couple million? Too bad I don't have that sitting in the ole bling account! If I did I would buy it and we could share it. I wonder what the insurance costs would be for that ring.

Jimmianne, What good news that Joy will be set soon. She is far to pretty to be sitting in a box. I had no idea the ring boxes were made of antique velvet. Now it's making sense why they are so hard to get. They really are beautiful and now seem even more special. I hope you have fun with your daughter this afternoon. I had no idea you had so many pets. All this talk of people having more than one pet is making me want another dog. If only mine was a little more mellowed. I can just see her not being kind to a sibling.

Junebug, The snow will melt. Just leave it sit and have a good time with your daughter. Your dinner last night sounded like fun. If you find pretty pink stone rings please post them. I'm also starting to fall in love with them as well. Kristie, it's all your fault!

Kristie, I think your love of colored stones is working it way to both Junebug and I. Do you have anything fun planned today?

OV, I hope your friends arrive soon and you have a fun day. Keep us posted on what you decide to do about the dress and wedges. I know you are looking at this from a practical side, but do try to do something nice for yourself too. You deserve it!

I'm going shopping this afternoon for a while. My husband was going to go with but he just received a golf invite. It's a pretty safe bet I'm going shopping alone today. Junebug and I are the golf widows here. I told him if he is going to keep dropping me for a little white ball I should at least get another diamond out of the deal. Actually I'm glad he is going. His buddy is going thru a rough time and could really use the support right now.

Here is the first stone I ever bought, its a purpley-bluey with some gray spinel, its a good size and is 5-sided, cut by Gene Flanigan/Precision Gem. The setting looks like platinum but its silver. Has a ton of scintillation in light but can also look kind of greasy and dead at night.

Hand shot.

I loved this, my friend who doesn't care much about jewelry or minerals sent it to me.

Hi NIRDI Kids!

Callie, I was supposed to swap out my summer/winter clothing today but I'm still looking at the winter pile stacked up on my dining room table  I got a LOT of magazines and catalogs in the mail today and the Westies are snoozing and snoring gently which is better than Xanax for a nap!! Bob and I made it to Whole Foods this morning by 9 AM and bought a tomato plant and other good stuff include Late July's tortilla chips with lime which are TDF if you haven't sampled their chips line. I hope you're out shopping while Jeff chases the tiny white balls! The pool is up to 69.9 degrees thus far---82-84 is what I need to get in myself. The dogs will get in around 80 degrees, little troopers they are.

Colored stones. Love them. I decided that I can't let my last experience sour me, I'm going to send off about 5 stones to Jill Anish and have her make me a bunch of stackers! I'll post the stones so you guys can see and advise. Jill is super fast, quite good with her bezeling, and she has no ATTITUDE. She is reasonable to inexpensive in terms of cost. She is up in your neck of the woods, Missy and JUnebug, in an arty community in upstate NY I think. She takes her jewels out to craft fairs and shows, maybe you'll see her at something this summer if you do those kinds of events.

Andrew Gulij/GemFix is taking my spess to a jeweler he works with there and so kind of him to do this. I bought Bubbles from him 5 years ago and he couldn't be more helpful and accommodating. He has some amazing jewelry, rings, on his website that he created with the jewelers in his building. Check them out to see something truly unique and one-of-a-kind.

Marcy, what are you and Marty up to today? Weather report, please! Hugs to Snacks/His Staff and The Teddy Boys.

Junebug, I'm glad your vacay is approaching, you're working really hard.

Missy, last night I freaked myself out. I was turning out the lights in the living room for bed and I turned and RAMMED my right knee, the previously broken patella, into the pointed end of the piano bench. Right where the breaks were. :wall: O.M.G. I think the patella is fine bonewise, I put a point-shaped divot into the skin and an enormous bruise has shown up, but no bony pain or dysfunction so I believe the patella has truly truly healed and is strong again. The ortho said 3 years for true/complete bone healing.

My mental health has progressed too because in the split second after doing it I didn't blame Bob for moving the bench, I just thought $#itters!!! So apparently one can remove the "BLAME" function from their psyche, LOL.

ROFL, yeah, actually this week I fell for the new collection at Escada in Vienna. They have an orange-yellow dress and matching orange espadrille wedges that I am crazy for but the two cost about 1000, I feel crazy if I spend that on myself now ROFL.:))) First, I will check at the outlets but honestly this color combo of course khm goes great with my fancy diamond collection.:))) They are perfect, not cheap but very nice. Did I say I have the habit of collecting wedges like Missy has of collecting boots?:))) But I do feel crazy, especially wedge sandals are my weakness. Strangely I felt that I would have this money coming somehow but I thought from my tax refund, getting a totally unexpected transfer onto your account from a class action is, well, not the sort of news I really mind. I am trying to hold myself back a bit and not splurge without thinking, try the outlets first and spend the rest on bling of course, that is another option. :appl:

Ohhhh Spring Escada....what scent goes with that??

cheers--Sharon

Kristie, how is your knee feeling today? That purple blue spinel is beautiful. I can't wait to see the stacking rings you are thinking of making. That also sounds like a cool project. You are just full of great ideas. Andrew sounds like a great jeweler. Did you switch out your clothes. I can't believe how warm your weather is already. We are supposed to get an inch of snow tomorrow night. You have no idea how wonderful your pool sounds. The cartoon you posted is hilarious.

Missy, Is your eye feeling better? Is it still red? What did you and Greg end up doing this afternoon? I spent 4 hours in Nordstrom and found a dress to wear to the wedding but am still undecided about it. I figured I would just buy it and decided later what I want to do. It was packed at the mall today. I think my husband has lost his mind. It was only around 50 degrees today and he went golfing.

Jimmianne, How was your time spent with your daughter today? Did you get the room set up?

Junebug, I hope you had a good time with your daughter.

Marcy, I hope you and Marty had a great day today.

Hi NIRDIs!

I am SOOOOO far behind now.

Missy, that is my original bear and sadly I call him “Teddy”. Original, huh? Piranha skin treatment. Ha Ha. Fabulous names for Kristie’s gorgeous sapphire. I might add “Lucky” in that it’s lucky for someone it came back in perfect condition. Too funny HRH keeps you immobilized. She’s in charge there. I did smile about better than a broken leg – been there done that. What an eternity ago now, huh? I can’t believe you got more snow. We were in the mid 60’s here today. We sat on the patio at the golf course. Of course I had on a sweater and a jacket but we were outside. I hope you get a Roomba. It sounds cool. Great snow pictures of the city and from the beach house. Something is wrong that Wyoming is warm and you are snowy. Your dream ring and earrings are fabulous. I hope your eye feels better.

Jimmianne, I won’t mention to Marty about blood on Teddy. He’ll find a way to freak me out for that for sure. Thanks for posting a picture of pretty flowers. I was going to post some as well. It’s time for SPRING!!! Mowing 14 acres is a lot but how fabulous to have that much land. I am delighted to hear your tooth feels okay. Taking care of everything on a farm isn’t easy. I know I’d never be able to handle it. I am hands down no doubt about it a sissified city girl. That is kind of crazy about your dad not wanting to call you about your mom. I guess they get that way. About 5 months before my mom died she was in a rehab center about 50 miles away and they took her to the ER about in the middle of the night because they thought she had an infection from her surgery. She insisted they not notify my dad so she had them call me instead. Like I’m not going to relay the information to my dad. She didn’t want to bother him. Joy will look fabulous in that setting. So we can plan on it being finished before May 1st? I agree we could post all sorts of personal things on here someone from the outside wouldn’t be able to find it on this busy thread. I am sure your daughter will love her Roomba.

Callie that is so cute your niece’s daughter is such a happy baby. My employee has been behaving pretty well but doesn’t go out of his way to help anyone anymore. He took off ½ a day this week maybe he was out interviewing somewhere. I know he’s rather disillusioned with our company. How frustrating to get hit in parking lots so frequently. That is certainly nice of someone to leave you a message about who hit your car. That reminds me I need to pay for Marty’s golf for the year too. Darn! That and his truck plates are going to cut in to my EC earring fund. I’ll join in on the golf widow club. I hate this time of year; I can’t plan much of anything; I never know when or if we are eating lunch or dinner and then we eat crappy bar food because Marty’s starving now. Oh well, he loves playing even he gets mad about his score.

Kristie, I liked Bubbles as the name for your spessartite but now that I read your reasoning behind it I like it even better. Very cool! I think they have Fanta orange soda in bottles made with sugar at our local grocery store. I am going to have to check on that. I had one recently and it was delicious! Your journey pendant is very pretty. That is awesome you are a musician and a teacher. The Kokopelli in your pool looks fabulous. Your spinel is very pretty. I love that you are posing your gems in dishes of candy. Great joke too! OMG Ouch to hitting your knee right where you broke it. Just thinking about the pain makes me feel sick. I hope it doesn’t hurt too bad. I will be anxious to see your new stacking rings.

Junebug, that is interesting Lucy wasn’t outgoing IRL. I bet you are looking forward to your vacation. I thought of this the other day and sorry if you’ve already thought of this yourself but if you want ideas of where to get help with your mom maybe talk to a social worker at the local hospital where you mom lives. They would have information on all the local services and care givers. Our town is small and I was surprised at how many options we even had here. Light pastel pink sapphires or spinels are amazing stones. The have color but are really bright, lively stones. It seems like a lot of us tend to hit curbs. Your decorative painting sounds like a lot of fun. I have absolutely not artistic talent. I tried tole painting with a friend and had fun but I can’t say I was skilled at it. The only thing I still have is I painted constellations on a light switch. Marty and I do amuse ourselves with rabbit and bear fighting. Having some alone time is nice. Marty played golf today and apparently did horrible at it but I pointed out hey you at least played golf. I am glad you had fun with your daughter and her BF. The emerald ring is very pretty. That is cool your son is in a band and is a self-taught musician. Pretty snow picture but not if you have to shovel it; hopefully your daughter or mother nature takes care of it for you.

Ovi, oh no I hate to hear things are going bad for you. That’s nice you got a refund. How horrible about what your father did. Definitely no thank you to lying in a criminal case. I am glad your lawyer is working for you and not listening to your dad or ex. If your father wants to side with your ex then I’d limit contact with him as well. You don’t need that crap from your dad. That stinks your ex made such a jerk of himself with your taxes. What an awful week for you! I hope your friends show up and you have a good weekend. Hugs to you! The dress and shoes sound perfect for you. I agree you deserve some retail therapy.

We had our astronomy meeting last night then went out afterwards for coffee and dessert. I had to do some work when got home and then I was determined to finish my book last night so I was up until about midnight.

This morning Marty went to play golf and I spent a few more hours doing work before running out to do my errands.

I looked at the EC diamonds the mall jewelers brought in for me – pretty but too expensive and smaller than I wanted. Then I dropped off my emerald ring and diamond at the jeweler to get that little project done and decided to do my least favorite chore – go buy some groceries.

After Marty was done with golf we ordered sandwiches and sat on the patio at the golf course visiting and drinking. I nurtured one glass of wine but the guys had to sober up before driving home for sure. Silly golfers.

Tomorrow is laundry day.

I’ve spent a great deal of time today researching matching EC online. Holy crap there is a lot to look through and hard to find a truly matched pair and of course there is that pesky little problem of money. Oh well; it’s fun to look.

Have a great Sunday!

Marcy

It's a sad day when someone has to get up at 5am to get to the thread before it evolves into it's daily complication LOL
PS is invading my dreams - I woke up and immediately thought oh! I get it! AZ-stonie. Then I wondered why in the world I called myself Jimmianne...it's so much to type out for fellow-threaders. Then realized that my first two friends in life were Jimmy and Ann. duh.

My daughter's room looks fantastic! I'm really good at staging with what's available and love to do it. Air B&B came out and took photos, then we went to an open-air cafe for lunch. It's such a pleasure to spend time with adult children... Makes up for the teen years

OV, how are you feeling today? You went into the weekend with things being pretty rough.

Marty, is there an upside to being a golf widow? : ) It sounds kind of scary, like the person you live with has just disappeared and been replaced by a golf nut. Tell Marty my Dad got two holes-in-one in the same year...he was 98. Are you playing golf with Marty? My Mom hated golf, but played once a week with the 9-holers and of course got lots of unsolicited instruction from Dad : )

AZstonie-K, what a beautiful pool...if you had a wetsuit you could swim at lower temps. I'm a 82-84 degree girl but can swim with a vest down to about 73. So after going hunting in NYC with Missy, can we come over to your house for a swim? :naughty: Like one of those progressive dinner parties.

Good morning girls!

Callie, so glad you found a dress you might wear to one of the weddings. Can you describe it for us?

Have you ever played golf with Jeff or is it just not something that appeals to you? Greg and I always planned on taking golf lessons to see if we like it as it seems like something nice to do together when we are older and retired. LOL that's not so far away anymore.

Kristie, Oh no, how is your knee? Ugh, I am so sorry and I hope it is fine now. When we chatted yesterday I had no clue. I really hope you are not even aware you did anything to it yesterday. When we were out and walking around yesterday I almost tripped in one of the sidewalk breaks (and that is with me being careful) and almost twisted my left ankle. Not just once LOL. Even with me being careful I am not careful enough. The streets have taken a beating this winter and are in rough condition. I'm fine with my leg though so no worries there. Hope the same is true of your knee and it sounds like your patella passed the ramming test LOL and is strong and healthy now so woohoo!

I love that idea of making stackers with your colored stones. They will be beautiful. And I am glad you did not let that bad experience with "who shall remain nameless" affect future projects.

I heard of Jill before but didn't realize she was located in NY. Artsy community...Woodstock perhaps? I love craft fairs and shows. I will check her out, thanks.

I get emails from Andrew/Gemfix because I signed up years ago but then really haven't checked them out for a long time. It's funny how we go in cycles as to what our bling interests are. Every changing yet staying the same. :wink2:

Your pool does look inviting. What shall we bring when we come over for a dip? :cheeky:

Love the pics you posted of the pretty spinel. And haha on that cartoon. I better get some amethyst soon.

Marcy, wow mid 60's. So jealous. Today the high will be in the low 30's I believe. Brrr winter's last hurrah I hope. Sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday. How exciting that your emerald ring will soon have a new diamond! When will it be finished and please post pics when you get it back. Love the NIRDI bling.

What size emerald cut earrings are you looking for? Another fun project. :appl:

Our laundry day is usually Saturday and Greg thoughtfully takes care of it here while when we are at the beach house I take over for the laundry. Reason is the laundry room is in the basement of our apartment building here and I don't like the basement :knockout: . At the beach house it is on the second floor right near the bedroom. Much more convenient. When we first moved into the apartment we did a gut job and our contractor wanted to put a laundry room in one of the bathrooms as we have 4 here and didn't need the 4th. BUT it is against Co-op rules and well I just didn't want to go against the rules. Now I regret it because it would be so convenient to have it in our apartment. Stupid rules. :nono:

Jimmianne, glad it went well at your daughter's place and that you enjoyed the day and lunch. A perfect way to spend a Saturday! Did she like her Roomba? And her gift certificate? What do you think she might get with the gift certificate?

Love the idea of the progressive dinner parties. I always thought that was such fun. I wonder how we could get everywhere the NIRDIs are located quickly and easily. That would be challenging lol.

Did you get that necklace I posted for you? It goes so well with your Tiffany ring. I think it would be a lovely addition. :halo:

Junebug, hope all the snow is melted and that you enjoyed the day with your dd yesterday.

Ovi, I hope you are having an amazing visit with your girlfriends and enjoying the weekend. :wavey:

It turned out to be not a bad weather day at all yesterday though a bit chilly. We walked around our neighborhood, visited some of the stores and of course the rescue kitties. Today is definitely indoor weather so probably something involving shopping hehe. Oh well we all have to make sacrifices. :cheeky: Enjoy your Sunday girls!

Missy, thank you for the necklace - I love it!

I hope you and Greg have fun today : )

Hello NIRDIS!

Missy, glad to hear you were able to get out a little bit yesterday, seems like today is going to be colder, boo. Mother Nature cut me a break and melted all the snow for me. Ugh, sorry to hear about your eye, I hate when some random problem like that pops up out of nowhere. Fingers crossed it just goes away.

Calliecake, I wish we lived close to each other, then our husbands could go golfing together and we could go shopping! Now that would be perfect :appl: Yes, I'm definitely getting into CSs these days, I've been lurking over in the CS forum for a while. I just get mesmerized by all the different beautiful colors that are available.

Kristie, I love the color of your spinel and the setting as well! That's my problem, I love all the colors I see  I'm glad you're not letting this recent bad experience discourage you. I was browsing around and found these spinels at Finewater gems. I really like the 1st, 2nd and 4th stones. I know the lavender one might be an odd choice, but I love the color and I think it would look so pretty in a white diamond halo. Not sure about the cut though? I keep going back and looking at them lol. For some reason I am attracted to pastel stones right now, I honestly think it's because I'm yearning for spring and light colors. I really like the 1st one for it's rich color though -it seems to have good saturation. Looks like candy, yum.
http://www.finewatergems.com/spinel.html

Wow, sorry to hear about you banging your knee, that must have been scary - but so glad you are ok, sounds like your knee has healed really well. So funny how you are happy you didn't blame Bob, you made me laugh!

Jimmianne, glad to hear you had a good time with dd, my daughter and I had a good visit too. She brought her bf's pekingese with her so I got my doggie fix! I hear you on those teenage years lol. Pretty glad we're past those.

Ovi, hope you are having a good time with your friends! And I hope you treat yourself to a little something.

Marcy, thanks for the suggestions about home health care! My mother was hospitalized last August for dehydration and a UTI and while she was there the social worker gave us a pretty extensive list of options. The issue is more of my mother freaking out about having a "stranger" in the house lol. As frail as she is, she can also be very feisty. It's so nice you are enjoying such warm weather! I can't wait until it heads our way. Too bad you, Callie, and I don't live closer, we could start a Golf Widow's Club! Sorry the EC diamonds didn't work out. I can see where it would be tricky to find a matching pair. I agree it's a lot of fun to look though!

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday!

Hi NIRDI’s.

Sing along with:

We are NIRDIs hear us roar;
With Bling too bright to ignore,
And we know this thread is never ending . . .

Jimmianne, LOL that PS is invading your dreams. At least you and Kristie have anonymous screen names; I never thought I’d be posting here for years or that I’d reveal anything personal about myself. I am glad your daughter’s room looks fabulous and you enjoyed spending time with an adult rather than a teenager. I will let Marty know about your dad’s two hole-in-ones; that is very cool! I have a hard time adjusting at first when Marty plays golf a lot but maybe since he’s gone so much for work I won’t notice it as much. Then after golf season is over it’s hard to adjust to having him home all the time. I have tried putting when Marty goes to the range but haven’t ever learned to play golf. Sometimes I’ll go ride around in the golf cart with Marty.

Missy, sorry to hear you had trouble walking around yesterday. I always watch where I’m walking which Marty finds strange but I don’t want to fall so it’s just the way I walk. We are warm here again today. Marty is out playing golf but it sounds windy out there. I am anxious to see my emerald ring too. Rats that you have to go to the basement to do laundry at your apartment. Our laundry is on the main floor as you come in from the garage and our walk in closet is right by it so that is really convenient. Enjoy shopping online today. Tumi has 20% off and I am trying very hard not to go look.

Junebug, that was nice of Mother Nature to shovel your snow for you. All of those spinels are pretty but I think the 2nd one would be amazing in a halo. I like the color. It sounds like you already have a good list from the hospital for local assistance for your mom. I hate to hear your mom will strongly resist the help; my mom got like that too and you hate to force things on them but you reach a point where some things just have to be done. I completely understand the internal struggle over this. Our golf widows club would be fun and costly to our DH. I have still been looking at EC diamonds. B2cjewels allows you to export your list of diamonds to Excel so I can sort them by size and ratio to help find matching pairs. There is an E pair and an H pair that look promising.

We didn’t make it to bed until about midnight. I had more work to do for work that took me about an hour or so and we were watching ROBO Cop so naturally had to finish that. We got up about 8 this morning.

I think I’ll have Marty grill brats and burgers for us for lunch today. I didn’t eat much yesterday so I’m hungry!

Have a fabulous day!
Marcy

brats and burgers!
now I'm hungry too!

Funny you should mention Tumi. I was just looking at my bag last night, noticing it's gotten a bit worn on the corners and thinking "oh dear, I could never wear THIS to NYC!" LOL

so ~ off to check out the Tumi sale. I had planned to drive to the antique mall in the next town to search for ring boxes as the Sunday get-away, but heck, it'sa lot easier to just sit here and surf, perchance to buy : )
Marcy, you have just enabled me and I love you for it : )

Hope you all have a good day

My mother had a green thumb; this was part of her flower bed outside their back door. Hurry up spring!

Marcy, Ooooh, LOVE the spring flowers! What are the pink ones? Camellias maybe?

Jimmianne, I love your PS moniker, its a good one! Before I got to know ya here on NIRDI I used to look forward to your posts for the bling and the critters :-)/farm thing. Thank you for the William Blake, I like his poetry. Poetry is getting short shrift these days but it really gets right to your soul whereas "literature" is lengthy and sometimes without the focus. Can't wait to see Joy moved into her new home. Speaking of your daughter and AirBNB, Bob and I have Chapel Hill on our list of potential retirement areas to visit and visit soon---love to rent your daughter's place when we get to Chapel Hill, rather pay her than some corporation. :cheeky: If its okay, I'll get in touch prior to traveling out to the East Coast. There are a lot of mineral collecting possibilities in the Carolinas. I also want to come and go to the furniture discount places, have you been to those, Jimmianne? My uncle's wife bought all new furnishings there and then they were trucked out to Arizona. They were really top notch in quality and design, very impressive. Could not believe the prices.

I'll have to google Jill Anish/Janish Jewels on Etsy, and see if I can remember the name of the artists' community. The NYT did an article on it and its also been on the Discover Channel too, I think for a GHOST in one of the homes. You have to be invited or apply and pass muster to "get" one of the homes.

Anyway, Jill does fantastic work and does it fast. She is a great bezeler and I really like her work with granulation/beading. I'll make a little layout of the stones I'm sending her for our review :sun:

edit: Google search on Jill, "New City, New York." http://jillanish.com/about.html

edit: Maybe Jill has spent time in the past in an artists community, I read up on Wiki about New City, it sounds really nice!! But no ghosts and no artisans living/working in a designated community there.

Junebug, I looked at the spinels. You can't go wrong with those. The price is fair/reasonable. Spinel really blew up in price about 10 years ago. I think any of them would be stunning with a halo of nice-sized round cut diamonds. Very RICH and luxurious looking.

WOW - this area is a potential place for you & Bob ?!?!
My dd's listing will be up with the new photos in a couple of weeks; meanwhile, it's in a very nice friendly & safe neighborhood in town - - - a lovely little ground floor apartment looking out on woods & a pond with mini-kitchen.
I'm sure she would be happy to have you there.

I love collecting. When I lived in upstate NY I used to go fossil hunting...then the surgeon I worked for in Colorado used to take us gem hunting. That was pretty fabulous. Here I've been to Fairy Stone Park to collect crosses, but that's all.
I took a lapidary course in college and made cabochons, also took fine jewelry courses . After hearing you talk about your hobby I looked into getting some equipment again. I hope you do move here!
But why would you leave AZ? Out West is so special : )

Hi Girls, I hope everyone is having a great day.

Missy, I sure hope your eye feels better soon. I can't believe you have to deal with this now. Do you and Greg have any plans for today. I had the best time shopping yesterday. The sales assistant was a riot. I could tell she wasn't thrilled about the dress I chose. She had me trying lots of stuff on. Some of her choices were beautiful but in all honesty I felt they looked like I was trying too hard. If that makes sense. My husband let me off the hook today so I get to stay home. We are going out to eat a little later. It's cold here today too and guess what....we get snow tonight and tomorrow! Fun!

Marcy, You never fail to make me laugh. You rsong is cute and very fitting for this group! I know just whatyou mean about the whole golf widow thing. He has his golf membership set for this summer. I loved the picture of your moms flowers. Nothing like flowers to brighten your mood. I want to change things in my yard but the reality is it would be so costly to do so. Winter has just lasted too long this year. I'm really getting the gardening bug now. I have lots of great ideas and know my money needs to go to finish replacing more evergreens and trees. Landscaping can be so expensive. I can't believe you are having 65 degree weather. I am so jealous! It's looks like you and Kristie are the lucky ones today with wonderful weather. A burger on the grill sounds wonderful. What are you making for dinner!

Junebug, i'm glad I'm not alone in the golf widow club. It would be nice if we lived closer. I would have dragged you with me to find a dress yesterday. One of my girlfriends said she would come help me if I wasn't sure about the one I bought. I hate trying to find fancier dresses. I can't believe I'm even worrying about this. I just feel everything I have isn't dressy enough. I don't eactly lead the kind of life where I need a lot of party dresses. Of course I found quite a few casual dresses I wanted!

Jimmianne, Your comment about teenagers had me laughing out loud. My brothers told me for years ago I really didn't know their daughters. They said they act like nice people around you but once they are back home for 5 minutes the broom comes out and they are off and riding the damn thing. My niece and I really only had one disagreement during her teenage years but boy was it a doozy and unfortunately it happened right in the middle of Lord and Taylor. That was a fun car ride home. I was upset for days about it. My SIL made the comment it's happened one time to you. It's a weekly occurrence when your the mom. My niece did call to apologize rather quickly which helped. I do love it now that they are older. It really is a lot of fun. In case you get bored, you can come and stage my house anytime. Your day with your daughter sounded like it was a lot of fun.

OV, I hope your not posting means you are out having a great time with your friends. Can't wait to hear about your weekend.

Callie, were you at Nordie's? They have some really good sales associates :-) Are you all set for your two weddings this summer in terms of dresses/accessories?

What is your adorable dog up to these days? Did she see the big wet Irish Setter from last weekend? Are the raccoons out now?

Chicago is on my bucket list for the Chicago Symphony, every orchestral musician's dream orchestra. Have you been to the symphony? The Chicago Symphony is famous for its brass/low brass section. Then of course you had Sir Georg Solti, very famous for HIM too :appl: Bob went to Chicago for a conference years ago and loved it, he walked all over the place, did the museums, etc. He did not get any deep dish pizza though! How can that be? I was very disappointed in him ;-)

Hey Jimmianne, definitely start cabbing again and you know, bezeling is not THAT hard, it just takes some math skills, you know: Measure twice/cut once kind of thing. That's cool you worked for a doc who was into rockhounding. Where did you guys go, did you hunt for aquamarine? I watched Prospectors on The Weather Channel and I love that show, it takes place in Colorado with some various wacky rockhounds/mineral types, I know you'd like the show. They hunt primarily for Mt Antero aqua. We met several of them in the flesh at Tucson last year and the one guy I did not like at all was a real sweetheart in person. I'm thinking the show's producers either made him look like a chauvinist dork or they told him to act that way for some family drama  There's nothing like finding your very own PRETTY ROCK, Bob is in the shop right now going through the Arkansas quartz having a great time!

We are expanding our horizons re retirement. lts a big USA out there. Can't go back to CA dammit, too crowded, dirty and expensive. Oregon but you have to be careful re rainy gloomy winters there. Washington is out, too close to the coal and oil trains and Seattle is completely overpopulated now. Idaho, that is a possibility for Bob and me. Utah, nope. Arizona, summers at 120 degrees, summer lasts from March to October now, too much!

So we are open to the Carolinas, Arkansas, Idaho, Oregon, and possibly some parts of New York even.
