Now I really did it :((

Happy Easter all!
We are going to our favorite restaurant with the DD and MIL. Saw the DS and DIL yesterday. I hardly ever cook for holidays anymore.
@missy I didn’t know your chilblains were flaring up. I get them too but this year has been easier. I suspect for you it’s all of that rainy weather we have had, and the damp shore... Not sure why I have had an easy year. Continued warm wishes for dad and mom. ❤️
@MamaBee nice chatting yesterday. I am hoping you get solid answers Wednesday. Reach out anytime. Enjoy the Italian food and the rest today. ((Hugs))

Enjoy the holiday NIRDIs!!

Hi NIRDI's! Happy Easter (to those celebrating).

@MamaBee I am so sorry to hear about your ongoing pain and lack of sleep. Sending you mega dust for some answers on Wednesday. I sure hate to hear about your mom. It's never easy. Keeping you in my thoughts. Good idea to order in dinner last night. We went out for Italian last night with friends. Today it's just me and Marty. We bought a big tenderloin to grill yesterday and will see if a friend wants to come over. His wife is traveling today for work and his step daughter is with her dad.

@missy yes I do know men and calling the doctor, then again, I'm not MUCH better. I hope Greg's knees continue to improve. That is too bad you can't talk to your dad on the phone. I am keeping you all in my thoughts. Thanks for the well wishes for my knees. They both seem to be bothering me more lately. Maybe living on the road and in an RV for 8 days will trigger that phone call to a doctor. I sure hate to hear your Chillblains is so bad and although driving in for a late appointment this week makes for a long day - and expensive day - it sounds like David is a really good doctor. That's another I've run in to lately where doctors don't accept insurance. WTH? Apparently, it saves them time and money but sure doesn't help the patient.

I am working on laundry now. Starting with the bedding from the RV. We have a triple layer fleece blanket that I am sure will get my washing machine airborne once the spin cycle starts. I wanted to wash it though. The sheets are drying now and I have one more blaknet to go. Then I start on our laundry.

Not much else going on today. I might start a hat.

Take care.
Marcy

Here's the vest I just finished and you see Marty's killerrabbit latched on to my chocolate bunny.

GM girls and happy marvelous Monday. Hope you enjoyed a terrific Easter Sunday
It's a very rainy week here and it is matching the mood

@Slickk your Easter plans sounded great and I hope you enjoyed the day immensely. Very interesting about your chilblains. I have not had a respite from it all fall and winter and now spring. And my asthma is just getting worse and not letting up. I wonder if it is related. I am also doing a forced shed now so am in considerable discomfort all around and I have to laugh because you cannot make this stuff up...one day at a time...have a great week

@marcy that is a gorgeous vest you knitted and I love the color, thank you for all your well wishes

@MamaBee good luck Wednesday...I am keeping you (and your mom) in my thoughts

@canuk-gal hope you have a wonderful week

@bling_dream19 hope your weekend was wonderful

Hello everyone else. We had a good Easter Sunday and the weather was gorgeous. We spent much of the day outdoors.

Happy marvelous Monday. Enjoy. Be well.

Hallo all and happy belated Easter! So the last week or so has been super . Pushing off my Entyvio infusion was a nightmare and has turned into out of control colitis. Calling my gastro dr this morning to see what the way forward is at this point, but I can't take much more of this, so am thinking I might need an admission to get fluids, pain control, and iv anti inflammatories. Unfortunately, my body has such a huge reaction to iv steroids that I have to go on insulin at the same time. So the whole process really knocks me around. Consequently, I try to manage on my own for as long as possible, until I'm totally sure I need the next level of help. If we're not there now, we're getting mighty close. So this is just a drive-by greeting to let you all know I haven't dropped off the face of the planet and am thinking of you all.

@Austina - Did you do your one week trip to the UK? How was it? Or has it not happened yet? I hope you're feeling well.

@bling_dream19 - thinking of you and hoping all is going well. Will reach out directly shortly.

@missy - how is your dad holding up? I saw a few days back that you said he was still in ok spirits, which I just find extraordinary. I hope your mom is holding together ok as well. How is Greg's knee? How are *you*? Did the asthma settle? My sister has chillblains - a bear of a thing!

@canuk-gal - how goes the battle? Any signs of warmer weather? We hit the high 50's and sunny over the weekend...but tomorrow are plummeting back into the low 40's with SNOW on Thursday! The following week we're supposed to hit 71! How on earth can you work out what to wear?? Hoping you're well.

@marcy - I saw your latest photos of the TBE - looking wonderful! I can't believe how quickly it's going up! Please don't be offended by this ignorant question - but is this a kit home? Just the speed with which it's progressing made me wonder - altho, I'm not entirely sure what kit homes are, either, so, again, pls forgive my ignorance. And great job on the vest!

@Slickk - I hope you had a lovely day yesterday. How was the restaurant? I hear you on not wanting to cook anymore. We went to church, then, since going to a restaurant was just off the table for me, I cooked a nice lunch, ate it...then spent the whole afternoon and evening in the bathroom. Frankly, I knew it would happen, but with Crohn's one gets mighty sick of missing every single celebration, so yesterday I just said - "blow it - I'm going ot eat something!" Yeah - not a good plan. At all. Didn't make it through the meal, tho Tim was very happy to have something other than the repetitious meat and veges he makes himself every day. So it was a mixed blessing. Church was tough, and I had to drug-up heavy so I could leave the house, which I paid for later. Crohn's is such a joy... And have a wonderful spring break!

@MamaBee - I'm thinking of you every day as you get closer to your neuro appt. I really hope whoever you see is a) great! and b) has some sort of treatment plan for you! How is your mom? I'm so glad Chris was able to get there, too - you need backup!

@springerspaniel - love and hugs to you and looking forward to seeing you when the weather is warmer!

Big hugs to all the NIRDI's! <3

I am so sorry H. I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. You deserve relief already. I am sending bucketloads of healing energy and love your way

Thanks for asking @mrs-b my dad is doing poorly. I’m worried.

Aww @mrs-b sending warm wishes for a quick resolution to this flare up! What a horrible mess. I’m so sorry. Good luck today! Be well.
@MamaBee sending continued get well wishes to you and mom. Looking forward to hearing what the Dr says.
@missy hoping dad is doing well and you’re still going to the dr tomorrow. Unbelievable that it must cost so much to be treated. I haven’t had to visit a Dr for the chilblains in years (I just cope) but I don’t remember anything that helped nonetheless. Which is perhaps why I haven’t gone. Plus this year was manageable. Have you found a helpful treatment other than gloves and the warmth of summer?
@marcy exciting times with the move and house!!
@Austina hope you are well and that it is still semi coolish down there.
@canuk-gal greetings to Canada! Wishing you warm and sunny weather soon! I see snow flurries on our forecast for Thursday :(
Hi to all the lovely NIRDIs!
I’m going to use this week relaxing and recharging to push through the final 11 weeks left of this year. The weather will be dreadful with lots of rain; perfect for a fire, a good book and my pooch.
A gratuitous pic of the Bear. :)

@Slickk Gorgeous Bear photo ♥️♥️♥️
I’ve tried nitro bid topical. Tea tree oil. Many different creams. My rheumatologist gave me an rx for a calcium channel blocker but due to my many medical issues I hesitate to take it due to potential interactions and interference with another of my medical conditions. I might have no choice. My chilblains is severe. I have to do something

I’m glad yours hasn’t bothered you much this year. May that continue

Enjoy a terrific relaxing week! You deserve it ♥️

@missy they tried me on a calcium blocker years ago. I don’t remember it helping at all. In those days, my toes were involved as well. I find tea tree oil to be very drying on my skin. Maybe it’s the jojoba oil mixed with vitamin e that I’ve been slathering on all winter that has helped…
I hope this Dr has some remedy. It’s so painful!
Thank you! I am enjoying every second so far though I do have a follow up unilateral breast US tomorrow. :/ Isn’t it always something?
Enjoy your day! ❤️

@Slickk GOOD LUCK tomorrow..I totally get that anxious feeling as I too go every six months (so far I hope they don't bump that frequency up) for a "suspicious" cyst....I feel for you and hope you get a great bill of health tomorrow at your appointment XO
And I am so glad you found something that helps your chilblains. It is always something...and usually, in my experience, multiple somethings lol. Gotta laugh...it beats the alternative ❤️

@Slickk I hope your visit goes well tomorrow. Do you get results right away? When we lived in Missouri we would wait in a room for the radiologist to read it. They would pop their head in for a sec and say you’re good and pop out again. Here in Pennsylvania we have to wait but not much longer than a day..sometimes earlier because it goes directly into my portal even before my doctor sees it. I hope it’s good news tomorrow. I hate getting any tests…Bear is such a cutie! :kiss2:
@missy Have you made up your mind about going to see David?
How’s your dad going? Maybe he can get one of those preloaded phones to make some calls. It must be hard not to be able to talk to him. How is your mom coping? She sounds like such a strong lady..
My mom is now saying strange things like they she went outside yesterday when she wasn’t. She looks totally coherent when she says it. I just decided to say where did you go instead of correcting her..since she was coherent. She said she didn’t know. She can’t remember what her room looks like back at the nursing home. Chris told her she’s been living there for years. She just repeated “years??”. It’s scary and sad.
@marcy I can’t believe you can make a vest like that! It’s so pretty. I love the design!
I love seeing the photos of your house going up! Are you getting excited? What color did you decide to go with on the interior?
@canuk-gal Your not too fussy dinner that you described sounded gourmet to me! Yummmmmmmm..
@Austina I think you’re on your trip..I hope you are having a wonderful time!
Big decisions to make..I have the appointment with the neurosurgeon on Wednesday in Philadelphia..I just made an appointment with a neurosurgeon in Va for Friday. I couldn’t find one here in Pa until November. I decided I have to make the best decision for me. I can’t pick a neurosurgeon for surgery…if I need to have one..only because my mom is in Pa. I’ve always put her first. I need to do what’s best for me. My husband will fill in for me if needed. I can get a nurse to help me there if he has to run to Pa. Some people may think this is jumping the gun. I may not need surgery, etc…but that’s me..I’m a planner..so I know what to do when things happen. My sweet daughter-in-law told me they would take care of me. I wouldn’t let her do it but I really hit the jackpot with her. :kiss2:
Hugs to everyone…

HI:

NIRDI shout out and healing vibes across the miles!

I am so sorry for the health woes we and our loved ones are facing. I feel sad. Truly.

That said, the bright sunshine and warm temps today brightened my spirits. I walked today and we will ride tomorrow after my appts and errands. The grass is green and the snow is melting but like @Slickk we are expecting snow by weeks end. Spring in the Rockies!!!

@MamaBee please look after yourself. And FWIW I added bacon to my scalloped potatoes and it was delish! Who knew? Sometimes simple meals are the best.
@mrs-b I like your healing therapy/methods. Buy diamonds!

cheers--Sharon

I need to do what’s best for me.

You absolutely do. I believe in lives of service, but this is one of those situations where it really has to be about you. You do so much for so many people - this is the time where everybody gets to pay back.

Hello lovelies

Sorry to have been MIA, there’s just been so much going on.

We also had a ‘you can’t make this up’ moment last week, when we went to check in on Thursday evening, to see that the flight had apparently been cancelled, and we should go to ‘manage my booking’. We did, no mention of flight cancellation, so we checked in and kept our fingers crossed. We had a sleepless night worrying we’d wake up to a text saying no flight, but no message, and I track the inbound flight, because we knew if that came in on Friday, it’d be going back to London. Fortunately, we arrived safely and we met by our friends. Since then, we’ve hardly had a moment that we weren’t laughing or talking.

I’m so sorry to hear your nightmare experience last week @mrs-b and hoping things are at a manageable level now.

@MamaBee you absolutely MUST do what’s best for you at the moment, I’m sorry your Mum has dementia, but if you don’t take care of yourself first, you’ll be no use to anyone else. You’re such a good daughter, wife and mother and deserve to do what you need to do in order to feel better.

I hope you’re thoroughly enjoying the week off @Slickk, your plans sound perfect for a relax and recharge before going back in to the fray.

Wow, the vest turned out beautifully @marcy, love the different shades of the wool. Will your orbiting washing machine be featured in the next astronomy newsletter ? Love the updated photos of TBE, it’s really coming along quickly.

I hope your visit to your Dad finds him in good spirits @missy. Your poor parents, what you’re all dealing with, it’s just too much. Sorry you’re suffering too, obviously by your post, your gynae problems are still ongoing :( Oy, far too much for anyone to cope with.

I hope your weather improves @canuk-gal so you can get out and about. You’re right, being outside does lift the spirits.

We’re going out shopping soon, and need to be back for a delivery. Then this evening, we’re going out for an Italian meal, yum!

Tired, but so happy to be here, making plans for future trips.

Have a great day

:wavey:

Good morning girls, happy terrific Tuesday!

@MamaBee the plan is to go but we shall see. As I said he runs far behind and I cannot promise I will be able to wait hours. So while I plan on heading out there I cannot say how the day will go. I have limited everything these days and my breathing outweighs my chilblains so not sure how this is going to play out. I hope you are feeling better with each day and tomorrow's the day...you got this! And yes please take care of yourself because if you are not well you cannot be there for your loved ones. Big hugs and bucketloads of healing vibes

@mrs-b yes that's the way I try to handle it all...laughter and perspective. Right now the most pressing issue is my dad's health but there is nothing I can do but be supportive. It is all out of my control and my heart hurts thinking about what my dad is going through. I hope your health improves very soon and that you start feeling much better. You have endured far too much and I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers

@canuk-gal oh no to snow...please let it be a mild storm and may it all melt fast

@Austina whew, what a relief you got there and the flight was not canceled...never a dull moment. Enjoy

@Slickk what a rainy week...enjoy your peace and quiet and may this be a rejuvenating week for you...summer vacation is almost here before we know it...

@bling_dream19 happy Tuesday sweet girl...hope all is going smoothly

@marcy TBE is looking beautiful and I am super excited for you to move in and start living the life

Hello everyone else. Hope all is well. A very wet week here which is not great for my breathing or my ulcerated fingers. I am off to do the nebulizer now which unfortunately does not give me more than one hour's relief. But at least it is something. Hope you all enjoy a terrific day no matter what you do. XOXO

May your Tuesday be colorful and bright with lots of love

My mom is getting fluid drained from her lungs today. The pain is so bad for me that I can’t even go to the hospital to visit her. :cry2: I hope the neurosurgeon has a solution for me..

GM girls and happy wonderful (and very wet) Wednesday

@MamaBee good luck today... We are all rooting for you.
I hope your mom is doing better after the fluid drainage
Big hugs

@mrs-b thank you and please thank David. It is gorgeous. Yesterday was so busy so I did not have time to properly thank either of you. It means the world to me to have your support. People have shown their true colors and I am listening and believing what I see. Big hugs and so much love. And wishing you relief and soon

@Slickk wow today is a SOAKER. I think we are going to get flooded all over today. That rain means business. Hello April (not showers but torrential downpours)...stay safe

@bling_dream19 happy wednesday sweet lady

@canuk-gal I heard snow in our forecast too. Granted the predictions are for flurries but still LOL

@marcy TBE is totally beautiful energy :)

Hi everyone else. So as predicted (Dr) David is King. He came up with a treatment (but he doesn't do it) and now I see another specialist to do injections in my finger tips. To open up the vasculature and increase the circulation. Problem is she is booked til mid August. He is going to see if he can get me in sooner.

He is concerned that my ulcerating fingertips mean my fingers are not getting proper nutrition and it can cause bone issues too. He said ulcerating the way it is happening is very bad. He did not want to prescribe more systemic meds (like me he is concerned about possible interactions) and said let's get to the exact problem which is poor circulation of my fingers. So now it's a waiting game.

These dermatologists are so busy it is incredible. And another positive piece of news is the wait was only 40 minutes and when he came in he was apologizing profusely. Which was not necessary for 40 minutes..three hours, yes. 40 minutes, no. LOL. I was really pleasantly surprised he was not far behind in the late afternoon. Parking yesterday was 75$ so that was outrageous. But David charged me the lowest fee he could (still expensive lol) but he's a good guy.

Now I just hope he can get me in sooner....but it is my asthma that is the real issue now. I am suffering. He agreed it would be better for me NOT to take the steroids and he agreed with me Dupixent is a great med. BUT I need my allergist to prescribe it and without steroids first very doubtful insurance will approve it or that the allergist will even prescribe it. I woke up twice with difficulty breathing and coughing up a storm. So it is getting worse.

And because my grandma died of an asthma attack it does concern me. I don't remember it ever being this bad. I might have to break down and take the inhaled steroids and pray that works despite David agreeing with me with my medical history not the best option for me. Sigh

Speaking of sigh double, triple, quadruple sigh and :( ...my poor dad. NOT doing well and I can do nothing. Absolutely nothing. The doctors now think he will not be able to walk again. :( And the insurance wants him out of the hospital. It is never ending or so it feels at the moment

Anyway that was our (very long) day and it went as smoothly as it could have.
Wishing you all lots of peace and joy today. Stay safe. Be well

Leaving you with a very wet daffodil...everything is very wet here...please stay safe little kitties

Sooooo much stuff in this last post, @missy. Just an absolute cacophony of emotion and stress. I'm now *really* worried about your asthma and also your circulation. Are you also seeing a cardiologist? I really feel like you should be.

As for your father, and insurance wanting him to leave the hospital - these people are just criminals. It seems to me that when a law suit is not involved, people are just squeezed and squeezed and hung out to dry. I am so sorry, sweet girl. This is madness.

Cold here in MA again this week after temps in the high 50's all last week. It's meant to warm up again next Monday - but Tim and I are off to CA on Sunday, so I'll be gone when the beautiful MA spring kicks in. Spring where I live is STUNNING. I'll be back May 20th, in time to see the lime green of early leafage and the last of the leaves coming out. I'll miss the blossoms and the flowering peach and dogwood trees, tho, which is a shame. Buds on everything here at the moment. <3

@MamaBee - my thoughts are with you today. Big hugs to you!

@Austina - hoping you're enjoying your trip and your time with friends. How was the Italian?

I'm feeling a little better today and am now able to sit up ok. On big doses of steroids, but hoping to start dropping them down a little on Friday. (Hang in there, body!)

Love to you all!

@mrs-b it is great to hear that you are sitting up and that the steroids are helping. I was so dismayed when I read about your delayed infusion and subsequent colitis. I am rooting for you up here in about-to-be-buried-in snow-land. I'm supposed to present research at a conference in Boston tomorrow but the weather may not permit it, even if I take the bus. So excited that you are returning to CA this weekend--I hope you and Tim have a blast!

@missy my heart is aching for you and your family. I know how important family is to you, and I know you want to be able to do something, but you also know there is not much you can do, except to take each moment as it comes and enjoy what you can. If anyone understands that mindfulness approach, I bet you do. Hugs to you.

@MamaBee -- I hope everything goes smoothly today and that you get some answers. I admire how you kept advocating for yourself; it is so frustrating when the medical industrial complex treats us like numbers! I may be overly optimistic, but I also think you will see an improvement in your mother's mentation when her lungs are drained. Having seen several people recover when their oxygen levels improve, I never underestimate how susceptible older adults are to decreases in oxygen supply.

Hi and love to everyone else! I'm writing a grant proposal today and working on some manuscripts for publication. When I'm not shoveling, that is. We already changed over the John Deere snowblower to a mower, so shoveling it shall be.

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!

NNNNOOOs to all the rain and snow everywhere! It is supposed to start here but at least the weather advisory has been dropped. Naturally my DH has an invasive test across town tomorrow (he's waited months for).... and will be driving in crap conditions. Fingers crossed.

@Austina enjoy yourself and hope your vertigo is gone!
@missy I'm rooting for you and your family!
@MamaBee hope some good news comes your way.
@mrs-b glad you are well enough to travel.
@springerspaniel nice to hear from you!
@marcy nice vest!

cheers--Sharon

Hi NIRDI’s!

@missy I am sorry your breathing and fingers aren’t doing well. Sending you mega dust for relief. I am glad your appointment went David went well and I hope he can get you an earlier appointment. I hate to hear your dad isn’t doing well. That is so rotten about sending him home from the hospital. Keeping you all in my thoughts.

@mrs-b I am so sorry to hear you are ready to try some fluids to help ease your symptoms. I totally get the tough call between taking going something that gives you more problems. Keeping you in my thoughts. Glad you are doing better today. And no offense taken, but no, the TBE is not a kit home. The crew is simply out there working 6 days a week. They started on it a few months ago too. It’s the inside that’ll take 3-4 months to complete.

@Slickk and cute Bear - I hope you relax this week. Wow to 11 more weeks to go. I always enjoyed spring break when I was teaching.

@MamaBee that is too bad about your mom saying strange things. They say it’s best to just go along with them rather when they recount stories. It’s rough. I hope draining her lungs helped her. How are you feeling? The interior of TBE is neutral colors, Beige, whites and grays. The island will have some dark blue cabinets. That stitch on my vest is my favorite to do, it’s easy and looks nice. I hope your appointment went well today and it’s good to think ahead. I am so glad your DIL is a keeper. As @Austina said, you need to do what’s best for you. Big hugs to you!

@canuk-gal I am so glad you had some lovely weather for a walk. I hope your DH doesn’t have trouble getting to his test and I hope it’s not as bad as it sounds.

@Austina I am glad your flight wasn’t cancelled and you’re having a great time catching up with your friends.

@springerspaniel I hope you are doing well.

We’re spending th night in Albuquerque tonight. I’m freezing in this trailer and I didn’t bring sweats to sleep in. DARN. We are going to Roswell and Carlsbad tomorrow then back to Texas.

Take care.
Marcy

Here’s Pike’s Peak today.

Hello lovelies

I’m just speechless @missy. Your poor parents, it’s just outrageous that the hospital want him out when he’s clearly not anywhere near ready to be discharged, or your mother, not able to cope with him if he’s completely immobile. Just robbery to take the premiums all the years when you don’t need treatment, and give you back the bare minimum when you do. I’m also so worried to hear how bad your asthma is. I’m hoping you can find some relief from it soon, because you can’t go on like this.

Remind me again where you’ll be in Tx @marcy? I know it was roughly about an hour from us, but I can’t remember the name of the place. We’ll be home tomorrow evening, and I’m debating whether to try and go out food shopping, or leave it til Saturday. Apparently, we’re expecting an invasion of eclipse watchers this weekend.

I’m really hoping your appt went well yesterday @MamaBee, and they had some positive news for you. Marcy is right, you should just go along with whatever your Mother is saying, otherwise it’s even more confusing and upsetting. Shirley said some very strange things, including being convinced she used to be a teacher!

Boo to the bad weather @canuk-gal, and safe driving to your DH to get to his appt., isn’t that always the way that the weather will be awful.

Hope your presentation goes well @springerspaniel tomorrow, and the snow doesn’t disrupt your plans.

We’ve been having a blast, we knew the weather was going to be cool and rainy so came prepared and it hasn’t dampened our fun. The Italian meal was lovely, and the restaurant was pretty packed for a Tuesday night. Last night we went to the pub, walked there, and unfortunately, on the way back, T fell and landed heavily so was really shaken up. NO, she wasn’t drunk!!!! It was dark and she was trying to avoid a big puddle.

The trip’s gone too quickly, but we’ll be heading home tomorrow (as long as they don’t cancel the flight). We’re tired from the time difference (and we lost another hour on Sunday), so it’ll be fun trying to catch up when we’re back. Fortunately, we have a couple of weeks before our friends from Iowa come to stay.

Be safe and well lovely NIRDIs, sending love and hugs to you all :wavey:

Good morning lovely ladies! Happy stormy Thursday! What an exciting (not) evening last night...fierce winds, torrential downpours and we lost power twice (generator came on twice thank goodness) and well, it was a lively evening lol.

@mrs-b big hugs and lots of love and healing vibes...so relieved the steroids are helping you...thank you for your good wishes and I agree with everything you wrote. They are criminal. I have an asthma update at the end of this post. I am worried too TBH and I never felt this way before with my asthma. Just hoping I get relief somehow. And sending so many well wishes your way..may you continue to feel better

@marcy hope you managed to keep warm in the trailer and have fun on the trip. Gorgeous photo of Pike's peak. Thank you for your continued well wishes...XO

@Austina thank you and safe travels home. Time goes too fast especially when one is enjoying themselves. So glad you and Colin had a wonderful trip. May the weather calm down and not affect your travel. Hugs

@springerspaniel good luck with your presentation and may the snow be easy. pretty (there's a joke in there somewhere lol) and melt fast XO

@canuk-gal happy terrific Thursday...hope all is going well. Thanks for your kind wishes..Hugs

@bling_dream19 hey girl, hope you are enjoying a wonderful week XO

@Slickk happy Thursday...hope you found some helpful info and I am always here for you XO

@MamaBee how did the appointment go yesterday? Sorry I didn't touch base with you...it was a super busy day and late by the time I got home and too early now to contact you...but I was thinking of you all day XOXO

So yesterday my allergist's office called me as they had a cancellation late afternoon and I took it. They had made me an appointment initially for next week when I called yesterday morning but then called me a few hours later with an opening that day. It was in the furthest office (he has three offices) but that did not matter. One hour away is a breeze compared to heading into the city lol. Though the rain was torrential and the winds very very high and there was flooding everywhere. By the time we headed back home that evening we could barely see ahead of us the rain was so heavy. But Greg got us home safely.

Long story short (too late haha) the allergist agreed to let me try Dupixent. So now we wait for the insurance company to deny and then we appeal. In the meantime he is having me go to the local office next tuesday to get a dupixent injection in office by the nurse. They have a sample set aside for me. I really hope this med 1. gets approved for me and 2. works. It is not a slam dunk but it is worth trying. Being a biologic it is very expensive. Each injection is $4,999 and you get two injections a month. So yeah if insurance won't pay (minus a copay of course) it won't be possible. Fingers and toes crossed

Today, of course, I have another medical appointment. With one of my rheumatologists. I would have canceled because after seeing David I don't see any reason to see Dr H but I have canceled twice before so need to keep this just to keep this dr viable should I need him in the future. It was made for my chilblains months ago but then I decided to call and see David last minute.

About my dad. It's very disheartening and I really do not know what to do. My mom is insisting on handling this (she is speaking with an attorney but not sure there is any recourse because believe it or not this is all legal I think) and TBH I have zero energy left with everything else that is happening. I am truly struggling to get through each day with this heavy weight on my chest and constant coughing. It is exhausting. If the insurance company denies Dupixent I do not know how I will get relief (not that it is a given with Dupixent but it might be very helpful). But one day at a time. I wish you all a lovely Thursday...be well. Enjoy XOXO

Just trying to keep my head above water and may all of you be doing the same

Praying that the Dupixent works and they approve it @missy I can’t believe how expensive it is!! How can ‘nearly’ anyone afford that monthly cost? Infuriating. Wishing your mom luck with the attorney. It is criminal to force your dad out as @mrs-b said. I do not understand how they won’t send him back to rehab. I’m so sad for you all. It’s despicable.
Glad you’re feeling better @mrs-b Hope that trend continues. Safe trip to Cali!
@MamaBee wondering how you did yesterday. Hope you liked the dr and he had answers and help for you. I’ll reach out a little later.
@Austina safe travels back! Will your weather hold up for the eclipse. I am reading a lot of areas will be cloudy, thereby increasing crowds at the clear-sky locations … like NY!
@springerspaniel I hope your presentation goes well!! We had snow down here too!
@marcy I do love spring break but my favorite is summer break!!
Woke up to snow today. Of course next week, when I’m back in school, will be perfect spring weather … :wall: Oh well…
Still enjoying the week with the Bear. :)

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!

Well, the "snow warning" returned. LOL. Heavy wet stuff typical of this time of year. It is warm enough that it is a slush fest and puddles. But a lot is falling and will continue over the next few days.

My DH had to go across town for a special cardiac test and encountered some poor driving conditions early this AM. I felt bad for him--at least when he drove home the snow had abated, but now it is fussing again. WOTev's.

@missy it IS criminal that your Mom has to consult a lawyer on behalf of your Dad. I hope your treatment gets approved as you and your family should not be suffering.
@Austina I am sorry your friend fell but am happy she did not sustain any injuries. Enjoy your last few days away.
@marcy enjoy your trip!
@Slickk isn't that always the way--great weather when you are working!!

cheers--Sharon

Hi NIRID’s!

@Austina that was a quick trip. We are not coming through your area anymore. We are hading down through El Paso and going over on 10. We’re in Carlsbad, NM tonight. We couldn’t Ind an open RV park, so we are camping in a RV parking lot. Lots of activity too. There is a convenience/gas/liquor store right by us and we think they sell drugs. One guy smashed in to an outside vending machine and took off. Marty went back to Walmart to get something. I’m braving the outdoors by myself. No AC since we are dry camping and it’s hot tonight. We’re staying in Ingram and will get there tomorrow. It sounds like everything is going to be packed. That is so awful about T falling, I am glad nothing got broke.

@missy sorry to the downpour. I FROZE last night, but it’s hot tonight. We’ll see. I hope that medicine helps you breathe and it gets approved by the insurance. There is NO excuse medicine costs that much and all the money people pay for insurance … Grr, game with your dad having to go home. It doesn’t make sense or seem right. Keeping you all in my thoughts.

@Slickk I hope the snow isn’t too bad. In Wyoming, it at least melts more quickly this time of year. I liked spring break and between fall and spring semester. Summer was BUSY for me, I worked my day job, took a 4-credit with lab class on weekends in the month of June and had 2 online classes and one telecourse. It was a nice paycheck for 2 months work, but not a day off for over 2 months.

@canuk-gal I hope the snow storms passes quickly. It looks like it’ll arrive at home this weekend. I hope it is gone by the time we are driving home. We are having a nice time.

We got a late start today but made it to Roswell, NM and ended up staying in Carlsbad. No RV park had a slot for us so we are camping in a Walmart parking lot tonight. Living the high life. We had a great supper at a Mexican restaurant. I was really cold last night so we walked over to Walmart to get some sweat pants for me. Now it’s hot tonight so I don’t need them. We’ll hit the road early and try to get to our spot for the eclipse before the rush.

Take care.
Marcy

Hello lovelies

Well it’s all gone too quickly, and we’re in the lounge waiting for the flight. Just had a big breakfast, and had to go back for another sausage, as we can’t get a decent sausage in Tx for love nor money. Funny thing is, I rarely ever ate a sausage in England, but you know what it is, when you can’t get something, you crave it!

It’s just disgusting that on top of everything else, your Mum may have to resort to legal action in order to ensure your Dad get’s the care he needs and deserves @missy. Do you have any idea when you’ll get an answer from the insurance co about the drug you need? For heavens sake, surely if you can’t breathe they realise it’s essential? I’m just so sorry that all of this is happening at once, it’s all just too much.

We haven’t slept under a comforter for quite a few weeks now @marcy, welcome to the South:D. I’m sorry you won’t be passing our way, but it sounds like our small place is literally expecting an invasion. Be very careful, we’ve recently been watching a series about crimes solved via CCTV, and the common denominator is Walmart!!!! I hope you get a great view of the eclipse.

Boo hiss to the slushy white stuff @canuk-gal, but yay, your DH got to his appt and back safely.

Safe travels @mrs-b, I hope you’re feeling a lot better and ready to travel.

Think the forecast for the eclipse is still looking good @Slickk, although we’ll probably be so jet lagged we may sleep through it  We still haven’t got over the journey here, and now we’re on our way back.

We’ve so enjoyed seeing our friends again, laughed a lot and despite the weather, managed to get out. We went to the coast the other day and had a walk around. It’s rained relentlessly, but we were expecting it, and it didn’t dampen our spirits. Looking forward to them coming over in September now.

It’s going to be a long day, and I’m looking forward to sleeping in my big bed tonight!

Have a great Friday lovely NIRDIs :wavey:

HI:

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!

Some snow blew in this AM but it is bright and sunny now. So many puddles!!! Went for my medical appt and planned to stop at a favorite Italian place nearby, but the parking sucked so I just came home.

@marcy stay safe.
@MamaBee how's things?
@missy any updates?
@Austina LOL sausage

cheers--Sharon

@canuk-gal - sending you warm thoughts to combat the slush! Hope your husband's cardiac results are good and that your med appt was useful.

@Austina - welcome home! I can't sleep in anything other than a king bed these days, so I can imagine you're looking forward to getting back to your bed!

@missy - thinking of you and your family every day. Praying for total recovery for you and for strength for both your parents and for Greg also. <3

@marcy - thinking of you in your RV in the Walmart parking lot, alternating between boiling and freezing! Good lord! I hope you're out of there now and on your way to something with less drug dealers and more facilities!!

@Slickk - thank you for the good wishes. I'm staaarting to feel better - which is excellent! I'm sad your week off is ending. ;(

@springerspaniel - are you in the path of total blackout for the eclipse? Your view should be spectacular! Will you get flooded by people? We thought about making our way up there, too!

@Bling_dream - thinking of you, my friend, and sending love. oxo

We've pushed back our departure to Cali to Tuesday, to give us 2 more days to get back on top of things. This also gives me 2 more days with Eleanor, who only got back from 2 weeks in Hawaii with her dad and brother last night. It's lovely to have her back.

My new diamond arrives on Monday - yay! It will be a while till I can set it, but I'm looking forward to it at some point down the track.

Wishing you all a very happy weekend - NIRDI shout out!
