Now I really did it :((

Missy--what a wonderful series of photos! It makes me so happy when I see that you are having fun. Hope a couple of days doing indoor stuff doesn't cramp your style.

HI:

Breezy and chilly--but bright! Forgot my gloves so my ride was short--LOL. We have fair weather bikers! lol

Looking forward to my supper out--especially the pie!

cheers--Sharon

Hello lovelies

Phew it's hot and humid here!

We've had a couple of really busy days. We went to the Hollywood Studios yesterday and the Magic Kingdom today. We got FastPass to a few rides, but there were 3hr queues for some of them :-o

So glad your co-worker is Ok after her surgery, that was a huge amount of stones they removed @PierreBear :eek2:

Hope you enjoyed your meal and pie @canuk-gal , what did you have?

Wow, people go all out for the zombie walk @missy , hope Nate isn't causing too many weather problems for you. Happy birthday to Greg for tomorrow, do you have plans to celebrate?

The RV company are completely useless @marcy, I'm just glad it's done with and you won't have to have any more dealings with them again. What a shame you couldn't get Marty's present. Will he be disappointed? We have a running joke that Colin always says he doesn't want anything, so I tell him I got him exactly what he wanted!

Did you enjoy your Norway trip @Scandinavian? (Or is that where you live )

Hi @Calliecake , unfortunately we're still at least 3 years off moving to Austin, our son is halfway through his time to become a citizen :(

Off to EPCOT tomorrow. We're going later so we can see the fireworks in the evening.

Hope you've all had a good weekend.:wavey:

Hi NIRDIs!

Callie, I knew the RV would eventually cost us about 16K but I sure hated paying it. Your check to the IRS sounds painful as well. When I was teaching we had to write checks every year for an obscene amount but not anywhere near that. That is spot on the IRS doesn’t mind taking your money. Are your flowers hanging on? I’ve got a few in bloom here and there. I am sure our storm tonight will take care of that.

Missy, great pictures. Looks like a lot of fun. I’m thinking about posting a negative review online but I honestly have never done that. I have gone to customer service online and complained about restaurants or stores though. I always seem to write my poems at the last moment and do better that way. Happy Birthday, Greg!!! Stay safe and warm from the rain. Thanks, Nate.

SpringerSpaniel, how are you doing?

Sharon, darn that your ride was cut short by chilly weather. Enjoy your dinner out and pie. What flavor did you get?

Austina, it’s snowing here already. Stay cool and I’ll stay warm. Wow if your fast pass means a 3 hour wait; I’d hate to see how long you’d be waiting without it. Marty said the TSA Pre line was long today at the airport. That is pretty funny about buying Colin exactly what he wants for his birthday. Marty said it was a Saturday. That is how much his birthday means to him. We tend to buy what we want so it’s tough to come up with birthday and Christmas gifts. I liked Epcot Center a lot. Some fun things to see. Enjoy the fireworks.

I had Marty’s laundry done by the time i went to bed last night. Marty took care of our sprinkler system today and also a friend of his who never knows what to do. We had some grilled meat and potatoes so easy dishes there. I made a batch of Snickerdoodles for the lady at work. She lives 50 miles out though and we could have 11 inches of snow so hopefully she shows up tomorrow. I tasted a few cookies right out of the oven. I approved.

I spent 30 minutes on the phone with our internet provider because we keep getting slow internet then it is gone then 30 minutes later it’s back. All of their equipment checks out okay so they are pointing fingers at our router. Marty of course is at DIA and on his way to LA so hopefully I don’t lose the internet much this week.

I worked on a program for astronomy today. It is on what you can see in the different forms of radiation.

Have a great evening.
Marcy

snicker.jpg
Can you smell their cinnamon goodness?

Oh yum, I love the taste of cinnamon.

 I meant that some of the rides we went on had a 3 hr wait, but fortunately we had the fast pass. No way am I waiting that long to go on a 5 minute ride- life's too short for that.

I love snickerdoodles and those look amazeballs!

Greg, Happy Birthday!

Hi Everybody, glad everyone is doing well this fall.

Good morning girls!
The road trip to visit people in Norway was fun, but waaaaaay to long. So a very long drive later, and we are back home.
F is having her surgery tomorrow, so I'm not able to think about much else today. Please send all the dust you can.
Hugs.

Good morning girls! Happy Columbus Day!

Hi springerspaniel thank you so much for that lovely comment. Really sweet of you and so kind. I hope all is well by you and that you are enjoying life too. I am actually enjoying being not on the bike for a few days LOL. We need the break though I know after a long stretch of winter we will be missing cycling and looking forward to getting back to it. (((Hugs))).

Sharon sorry the cold weather stopped you from enjoying a longer bike ride. LOL I wear gloves all year long practically but my Raynauds is more severe and when cycling I need them for sure. Glad you are enjoying cycling again. Hope your supper out was delicious and yummmm to the pie. I love pie especially apple pie. What type of pie did you have?

Austina yay for fast pass. Like you I don't like lines nor waiting in them and same for restaurants. If there is a wait over 10 minutes to be seated at a restaurant I am so out of there. That is why I always make reservations if possible and I am with you re rides. Fast track it baby.:sun: Hope the heat breaks soon. It is pretty humid and warm here as well. My hair is not behaving as it doesn't like this 100% humidity.

Marcy those cookies look so amazingly delicious yummmmmmy. And yes I can smell the cinnamon goodness!
Thanks for the birthday wishes for Greg. Sorry you are dealing with internet issues and I hope it behaves at least for the duration of Marty's time away. Your astronomy program on radiation sounds very interesting...Madame Marcy Curie. Be safe now.8)

Snow is pretty when it first falls but around here it gets filthy almost immediately. I bet it stays pretty by you much longer.

We went to the Apple store yesterday and checked out all the new toys. I might be getting a new laptop soon but am torn b/w the Pro and Air. I have both but will be getting a new one soon and not sure which would best serve my needs. I do love the lightness of the Air which I have been using for the past 4 years. But the Pro has more RAM and has retinal display but is heavier. Still undecided. And the new 1K phone is coming out soon and we spoke to the salesperson and he is waiting to see if he thinks it is worth the cost. Most likely I would say we are passing on the newest iPhone but might be getting new iPhones soon as our phones are over 2 years old now.

Thanks Kristie for the birthday wishes for Greg. I will let him know. Hugs to Finn and Maggie.

Scandi lots and lots of PS *****DUST***** to F for her surgery today. Thinking good thoughts for her and hugs to her and you. Please let us know how she is doing. Bucketloads of GOOD LUCK DUST her way!!!

It rained most of the day yesterday so in addition to the Apple Store visit it was a perfect day for shopping and we also went shopping for a long raincoat for me with a hood. The stores have NOTHING in terms of sizes so I had to order online anyway and didn't even get to try anything on....and I ordered online when we got home and sent it to Brooklyn as I never know how long it will take to get here or there and BAM I was just notified it will arrive to our Brooklyn apartment tomorrow. Darn. So I won't know if it fits or if it is good till next week. Oh well I guessed wrong as where to ship it.

And LOL Greg is a true PSer despite never reading the forum or posting because we got in the car yesterday and he started laughing. He thought he didnt have his wedding band on before we left the house so he put it on and he thought it felt weird and in the car he saw he had 2 WBs on. LOL a new trend for PS men....stacking their WBs! I like it.:appl:

2wbsincar.jpg

gregstackingwbs.jpg

So it is a rainy day here and whatever the birthday boy wants to do today. We are going out to dinner and I think he might want to see a movie today. I think he wants to see the new Blade Runner movie so I am not super excited but LOL hopefully it won't be super boring. It has been a really loooooong time since we went to the movie theaters too so not sure what to expect as today is a holiday here so it might be crowded and I do not like crowds especially at the theaters.

Have a lovely Monday girls and hugs to all of you.

Happy birthday Greg!!

Hi everyone!

Missy, Happy Birthday to Greg, sending best wishes he and you have a very enjoyable day! Dinner and a movie sounds great. Love the boardwalk pics, very fun. Too bad about the raincoat, it's hard to figure out how long things will take to arrive. That was a quick delivery lol! Good luck with your decision on the laptop; it's a tough call. If I get another laptop I'll probably get another Air, it was fine for my needs. Right now I'm using my iPad and it's fine for what I do on a computer. DS and DD prefer the Pro though, I guess they like the extra storage, and it's better for watching movies and playing games lol. I like the 2 wedding bands on Greg, it looks very cool! The Costco Halloween decorations are great. Thanks for being so understanding about all my venting, it does help to let things out!

Sharon, Happy Thanksgiving, and I hope you enjoyed your dinner with your family. And yes, The pie would be my favorite part too, yum. Going to a favorite restaurant sounds lovely, and relaxing.

Scandi, love the pics you posted of T and F! The first one is so adorable, it looks like a family portrait! Love their cute expressions. Your pics of Norway are beautiful. I'm sending tons of dust to your sweet F for a quick and uneventful surgery, and a smooth recovery. Big hugs, and hang in there, I'll be thinking about you today.

Austina, very glad your son and gf were able to make it, sounds like you are having a lot of fun. So nice you are getting to spend time with ds. Thanks goodness for fast pass too!

Hi springerspaniel! :wavey:

Marcy, I empathize with all the rigamarole you've been having with this RV, nothing is simple these days. Trying to pay your tracker fee is another example, even the simplest, most straight forward things turn into a headache. Glad the RV situation is finally resolved though. Your cloud pic is amazing, and the one in the middle really does look like a rabbit! Your snickerdoodles look SO good! Sorry about the slow internet, I hate it when it's slow and no reason can be found, ugh. Sometimes turning the modem off and on (I think that's the right term lol) works for us. Sorry to hear about the snow heading your way, be safe. And you are so right about small changes making a difference - my brother is going to change light fixtures and the medicine cabinet just to spruce things up - he plans on doing more renovations down the road but little things can really improve the look of a place. Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts, I appreciate it!

Calliecake, hi and thanks for the good thoughts! Yes, will be nice when this is all over with, it's kind of taken over my life recently lol. I hope things are going well with you and your family.

Jaaron, sending good thoughts you are finished with your work project very soon. I can only imagine how relieved you'll be. Sounds like it's been a very arduous process for you.

The weekend flew by - on Saturday dh and I helped my brother paint, and most of it is done - the place looks SO much better and my brother is feeling more upbeat. Spent yesterday just doing things around the house. Poor dh managed to come down with a bad cold and was very under the weather yesterday. To make matters worse his football team lost, and he had to leave for a trip this morning.

On a blingy note, I ordered studs from Blue Nile last night - 1.80 tcw H SI1. Good price for H color and I'm good with SI as long as eye clean. Stuck with the PS cheat sheet so feeling confident they are well cut, even if not super ideal. I always have mixed emotions about buying bling - excited, but also feel stressed about spending the money lol. I'm rationalizing by telling myself the only earrings I wear are diamond studs, so I'll get my money's worth out of them.

I know I've missed some things, but sending good thoughts to everyone, and hope all is well with all the nirdis!

Good morning friends! This weekend we did our run and our bike ride. Fun bike ride where our friend joined us and we rode to get donuts. I think I prefer Missy's ice cream but I'm not complaining when there's a treat involved. We rode from Austin to Round Rock as they have "famous" donuts. It's pretty good and has this glaze that is unusually orange. Orange... but good!

Window people did come out on Saturday. I did learn that they don't usually work on Saturdays so they really were trying their best to make up for the scheduling issue. Not sure if it's good news or bad news but the conclusion was that the windows are fine. They did a window seal test and a water spray test. No leaks. They believe the source is above the window and gave us a good recommendation. We were planning on taking off the siding of the house and work externally to diagnose the issue. However, their suggestion was to work from the inside and take down the dry wall surrounding the window to see the "story of the water stain" and find the source. I have heart palpitations just thinking about how uncomfortable it will be to see the guts of the house exposed. I guess this is @Scandinavian 's life everyday?! I hope we will get to the heart of the problem but I still have a fear we can't figure it out or the fix will be very expensive. Trying to keep my crazy girl brain on "off" when it comes to house anxiety though.

Other than that, my cousin will be in town this Thursday and will get to see her. Also meeting up with a friend today for lunch. We are going to a soup place. Though it would feel like fall by the time we planned this get together. However, it's still in the 90s today and won't be in the 70s until tomorrow. Ooppsss.. one day too early! Ya'll have a great Monday!

@jaaron – Hello and hope the work project is going well and has come to an end!

@Austina – Hope the pool time was enjoyable. Get a nice tan?

Glad you had the fast pass and could jump the line. Did you have a favorite ride?

@marcy – Knowing how much candy to buy for Halloween is very tricky. I am not a fan of ending up with candy after the event. I purposely buy candy that I don’t like just to make sure I don’t end up eating it if there are left overs. Hahaha… I think I need to be more conservative with candy. I do like the tradition of passing out sweet treats and had such a great time in my childhood collecting goodies.

Serious money save mode isn’t as much fun as ring project time but good job on being responsible with your funds. You are a wise lady! Sorry that the RV dealer hasn’t been a good experience.

Happy birthday to Marty though!

Your snickerdoodle cookies look amazing! I approve! Yumm!! Great job baking master!

@missy – Dave the ice cream owner looks like such a friendly guy. What a fun shop to be in!

Zombie walk sounds like such a fun event! Those costumes are really good! I really liked the bearded lady one.

Hope you are staying safe with Nate floating around.

Hilarious about Greg stacking up his wedding bands. When did he get his second one?

Happy Birthday to him!!! : ) Hope he enjoyed the Blade Runner movie. I know my father in law and my DH have some sort of plan to watch it together.

@Scandinavian – Gorgeous pictures. Double rainbow?! Ahhhh I love nature. Thanks for sharing.

Hope F’s surgery is going smoothly and she’s recovering. Keep us posted!

@Calliecake – Oh gosh your story about the government accepting your large check is very startling.

I don’t really like the setting design process. I get lost in the intricacies of cathedral arms, milgrain, angles, and proportions. I think I’m the type of person who appreciates that every little detail matters to create a beautiful end product. However, I don’t know if something looks good or is fitting until it is completed and on my finger. Something that looks great on PS I’ve learned doesn’t look fitting on my hand or might not feel like me. My eyes and my mind can be deceiving. I’ll get there and hopefully with some guidance, the ring will feel like “me” and be timeless and something I’ll never think twice about re-setting or feel like there is something that feels off. But you are right, you can’t go wrong with the diamond. The setting is something that can always be changed or re-worked. Hope that your jewelry endeavors are going well and thanks for asking. It feels like such a long time ago that we committed the stone. Stone is still at OWD, which is a good thing. I would be sneaking some peaks which will be a no no!

Canuk-gal – The cooler weather sounds amazing but sorry that you had to cut it short. Did a ride this weekend and it was in the upper 80s again. Glad we started at 6:30. Riding in the dark with lamps on isn’t my favorite thing but it beats the heat a bit.

Hope you enjoyed that pie!

@junebug17 – Hope your DH is feeling better and recovering from his sickness.

Congrats on your studs and can’t wait to see some ear shots! I hope they surpass everything your expectations. Is this for a special occasion or you just wanted to complete your jewelry accessories? I know what you mean about having mixed emotions about buying bling but you can’t go wrong with diamond studs. When DH and I were first dating, he gave me a teeny tiny diamond pendant he bought at the mall. I know I know… a big no no. However, we were young and in love. It was the first piece of jewelry he bought any girl. I kept it on every day but eventually realized that I’m not a diamond pendant type of girl. Eventually after we got married, I can’t remember for what occasion if it was a birthday/Xmas present but he bought an equally not well cut mate and had them reset into earrings so I could wear them. Could care less that they aren’t well cut but just love the history behind it. Can’t go wrong with diamond earrings though as diamonds go with everything! So excited for you my friend!!

Sleeping now. Surgery tomorrow (Tuesday) but will be over before you wake up. Will keep you posted. Thank you for thinking about her.

HI:

I had pumpkin pie! But not that much; a couple of bites is all I can eat. I actually prefer stuff like that for breakfast! But it was delish!

Dared the cool weather today--and had a brisk ride. My husband and I both agree we prefer 30C weather to 13. I was hoping to see some cute porcupines munching gourds but all I saw were people with Tim Horton's and Starbucks!

:wavey: NIRDIs.

cheers--Sharon

Hi NIRDIs! Come on over for some cookies.

Austina, that makes more sense on the fast pass then.

Kristie, I hope you are having a good fall.

Scandi, sending F lots of speedy recovery dust. Glad your trip to Norway was fun. Great pictures of T and F.

Missy, our streets get sloppy and dirty with snow but everything else remains white. It was very pretty this morning with snow on the trees. We ended up with about 6” but the streets were mostly slushy. How fun to go check out the Apple store. I am on my 4th Mac laptop. I had 2 airs and then 2 Mac Book Pros. I went with the Pro because of faster processor and ram and noticed a difference. I absolutely love the retina display on my MB Pro. The new iPhone sounds really nice. Marty is going to get the new iWatch when it become available. That is quick delivery on your raincoat. Naturally if you sent it to the beach house it would have been delivered after you went back to the big city. I hope Greg had a very Happy Birthday. Greg’s bands look great.

Junebug, when Marty gets home I will make him see if the router needs a firmware update. If it doesn’t, I’ll tell him to pick a new router. He’s gone so much I don’t want to deal with it. I can use my cell phone as a hot spot if I really needed to be online. I think new lights and medicine cabinet will make a nice change in your brother’s condo. I am sure he’ll have fun making it feel more like home. Crossing my fingers the closing on your mom’s house goes smoothly. I hope your DH feels better. He had a rough day there being sick, having his team lose and then going on the road again. How exciting about ordering your diamond studs. That will be an awesome size. I can’t wait to see them.

PierreBear, congratulations on completing your run and bike ride this weekend. Plus enjoyed some famous donuts. I hate to hear they couldn’t find the leak in your window. I wouldn’t be thrilled to pull off the dry wall to try and find the issue. We had that really bad leak this summer and Marty did some caulking around the window. So far it’s worked but every time we get a lot of rain I check. Have fun catching up with your cousin. I did smile that 70 degree weather is soup weather. I have to admit I wanted to stay home today and make a pot of soup. I get what you mean about it’s hard to know how a ring will look until you get it on your hand. I often think of changing out my setting but every setting I try on just isn’t the one. It’s not that I don’t like what I have. I am actually not good at saving money but it’s high time I got better at it. Yes, I’d rather be buying a new ring but I don’t lack for them either. The story behind your diamond studs is really nice. Sentimental pieces are priceless.

Sharon, glad you enjoyed some pumpkin pie. You were brave to go for a ride in that cold of weather.

I called the RV dealer about 10 this morning. The lady who had my check left under her keyboard found it and moved it to the guys desk. He was still out sick. She seemed lost when I asked about the payoff information. She reassured me the payoff would get mailed soon. Right.

Have a fabulous day.
Marcy

Good morning girls!

Scandi hoping F's surgery went smoothly and she is recovering and doing well. (((Hugs))).

Junie how wonderful that your brother is feeling better now and that you helped him paint his new home. What a difference a day (and a new coat of paint) makes! You are an amazing sister.

YAY to new diamond earrings woohoo! That is a great size. I am so excited for you and cannot wait for you to get them. Hope they knock your socks off Junie!

Thank you for the computer info.
Hope your dh is feeling much better now and that he is back from his trip soon. (((Hugs))).

Marcy I hope that check is in the mail to you very soon. Fingers crossed. Darn that your snow gets dirty too and glad you "only" got 6" this time. It is going to hit the 80s here by us today. LOL. I guess our "crisp" fall weather will have to wait. Yes exactly re raincoat and where to deliver it. Hahaha no matter where I chose I know it would have been the wrong choice oh well. LOL. Thank you for Greg's birthday wishes and the computer info. I hope Marty had a good birthday too! Don't tease me about your cookies. Just send some to us pretty please:pray::lickout::halo:

Thank you Junie and Marcy for the info re the computers. I think I am leaning towards the Pro because my current 2013 Air has 8 whatever of RAM already and the newer Air doesn't have more than that...but the Pro has 16 RAM and perhaps that will allow my computer to have more tabs open and run more quickly...

PierreBear so exciting. I cannot wait for your ring to be completed. Yay for enjoying a run and bike ride and sorry the windows weren't the solution but hoping the solution is easy and that the fix is almost complete. Yes home projects are scary IMO. Speaking of which we are visiting the kitchen contractor today and maybe will be starting our kitchen reno at the beach house. Just hope we are not making a mistake...things cost so much more money here than elsewhere. I swear a kitchen reno that should cost under 50K is double here so not sure what we are going to end up doing as this will never be our full time home so how much am I willing to spend is the question.

Have fun with your cousin's visit this Thursday.

Sharon happy Thanksgiving again and YUMMMM to pumpkin pie. OMG I love pie.:lickout: Glad you enjoyed another brisk bike ride. We are having summer weather here still...

Thank you all for the lovely Birthday wishes for my dh. He says thank you very much!
We had a good birthday yesterday. Greg decided he wanted to go Tool shopping instead of seeing the movie so we did. Hahaha just like the handy rugged guy he is. He bought some new tools and was very happy. We then went to an early dinner and enjoyed delicious broiled lemon pepper bluefish, homemade coleslaw and yummy peach cobbler at our favorite local restaurant. It was the perfect rainy day birthday.

homemadecoleslaw.jpg

moscatoandbeer.jpg

Greg had Clam Chowder as an appetizer...(I am not a fan of chowder but he said it was delicious). I had a simple salad to start. Perfectly prepared.
clamchowder.jpg

This was broiled bluefish with a lemon pepper crust and had a kick to it. Really scrumptious.
And those potatoes. OMG. So good.
bluefishlemonpepper.jpg

And the birthday boy enjoyed a hot peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream (OK I admit I helped him out..I am a good wife not allowing him to consume all those calories by himself no?)

peachcobblerbirthday.jpg

Today we are off cycling in a few minutes and then heading to the kitchen renovation place to discuss details with the owner. Fingers crossed it all goes well because I am ready for a new kitchen. We will see.
Have a great day girls!:wavey:

Good morning ladies! Hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for all the kind comments about our water leak. Our contractor (he does great work but lacks heavily on the admin side) won’t come out until possibly “3 weeks.” Ahhh but we enjoy working with him and trust him so we will wait. He’ll get the kitchen tiling done and then rip up the dry wall upstairs and help diagnose the water issues. I’m feeling hopeful today but wishing that the project can start sooner. At least it’s not really a rainy season right now where we are and sadly it never snows.

Full disclosure on yesterday’s activities…. I ripped the inner lining of my skirt yesterday! At least it wasn’t the outer layer where it would be embarrassing and potentially show my underwear. I did a quick workout upstairs and after a shower, stepped into the shirt to put it on. Then hurt a riiiippppp! Did my best stitching it up yesterday while I had Netflix playing in the background, but I had no idea what I was doing. Hahaha… almost considered just cutting out the entire lining of it. The skirt is old and I’ve had it since college as it’s my one and only interviewing suit. I don’t wear the jacket (unless there is a need but I think it is probably so out of style now) and just wear the skirt. Maybe it’s time for a new one but I’ll see how long that puppy will last! Anyhow, hope ya’ll have a great one today!

@Scandinavian – Hope the surgery went well. Any updates yet on how the procedure went?

@canuk-gal – Good choice on pie and way to get into the Fall spirit. I think I might be the opposite of you though. I prefer savory foods for breakfast (unless it is fruit) and can’t get enough of sweets after a meal.

@marcy – Which ring do you think about changing your setting on? I have toyed with the idea of resetting my e-ring but feel a bit too sentimental to do anything. I just remind myself that it’s nice to have something simple/casual for those lazy or outdoor type of days.

Way to go Marty for figuring out how to stop the leak. Glad all it took was caulking.

Gosh those RV dealers… I wouldn’t want a check laying around. Hopefully the main person will be back soon and help wrap everything up so you can put it behind you. How does Marty feel about the RV sale? Would you ever get a vehicle like that again? I remember when we went on our Utah adventures, there were rentable RV/vans that was set up like a camper. Seems like a good way to travel but never tried it before.

@missy – Good luck with the kitchen contractor today. As handy as Greg is with all that experience and how detail oriented you are, I don’t think ya’ll will make a mistake. Renovations just need to happen sometimes, whether it’s for you to enjoy or whether it’s to get something to sell. Hope you have fun with the process and may the quote be affordable and within expectations. What’s interesting living in Austin right now and talking to the window people is that it’s difficult to find contractors. Most of them have traveled to Houston due to Hurricane Harvey.

Oohh the bluefish looks amazing! The peach cobbler looks fantastic. Did they embarrass Greg by singing a birthday song?

Have fun cycling!

Oh one question I've had on my mind. I mentioned that my coworker had an astounding number of kidney stones removed. 60! She's back in the office today, which prompted me to ask this question. In her scenario, she's still doing tests to understand what is causing the production of kidney stones. Her elementary guess is that her general DR has recommended for her to take calcium supplements to strengthen her bones. However, too much calcium is obviously causing other issues such as the kidney stones. I never really stopped to think that too much of a "vitamin/supplement" could be a harmful thing.

Does anyone else take a general multi-vitamin and are there any issues with this generalized approached? I learned that I was vitamin D deficient like most people and instead of taking a specific vitamin D supplement, I just found a multi-vitamin that met those requirements. This means I'm getting other nutrients that I wasn't necessarily deficient in and am wondering what's happening with the excess. Perhaps it doesn't get absorbed and gets flushed out or perhaps my body is building stones? I'm going to get an annual physical this end of the week but thought I would ask ya'll as well. I don't have a relationship with the DR and it's just an "in and out" type activity for him. Thanks in advance!

Hi NIRDIs!

Missy, I hope that check is in the mail soon too. Remember last year they didn’t pay off my A6 when I bought my Macan? It’s just my luck. Our temperatures are climbing again the rest of the week but we won’t hit 80 degrees. The lady I took in the cookies for was quite stingy with them; she wanted to take some home too. She loved them; she must of come by my desk about 10 times to thank me and tell me how much she enjoyed them. I am glad I changed to the Pro and don’t mind the little bit of extra weight. The airs are really light though which is nice. That is always a good question; how much are you willing to spend on a renovation. Good luck with the kitchen reno dealer. I can totally imagine how excited Greg was to get new tools for his birthday. And I have to say peach cobbler sounds fabulous. I love anything with peaches.

Scandi, awe hi F. Feel better soon.

PierreBear, I’ll gladly send you some snow. I can’t promise it will arrive in the same condition I packed it in. And while I told Missy our streets do get dirty snow I promise only to pack pure, white snow for you. Darn for ripping the lining of your skirt; at least it wasn’t somewhere that showed. My ering is mounted on one of WF’s 3mm scattered diamond band. I toy with moving it to a regular solitaire mounting but everything I try on doesn’t beat out what I have. I am drawn towards thicker bands but don’t like them on my hand. I like bypass styles but my 4 bands would not work with that style. I am not unhappy at all with what I have; I just think about it sometimes. I totally get being sentimental about your ring too. That is very important. Marty grew up camping and using RV’s so he enjoys them. This summer he was toying with buying something again for the eclipse. I pretty much said no because they are such a waste of money for how little we use it. The RV we sold was 10 years old and I bet we took it out only about 20 times. Right now his training comes first, then golf and he hasn’t shown any interest in going out camping or using his telescope so until I see that become a priority I’m going to vote no. We will see.
I don’t have recent knowledge or remember a lot from when I did look up info on vitamins, but yes I read that too much of some vitamins is bad for you. Anything that is water soluble goes through your body everyday and can be replaced. Others stay in your system and accumulate. Again, I looked this up maybe 10 years ago when my mom was taking a whole bunch of vitamins and I was worried she was way overdoing it. I don’t take any vitamins because guess what - I am allergic to them. I can get by with some kids vitamins that are chewable but most of them have nutri sweet in them which I can’t have either.

I had scare this morning; my diamond pendant fell off in the house. I must not have got the clasp hooked. Luckily it made a sound when it hit the floor. I’ll make sure to check it’s hooked from now on.

I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.
Marcy

Good morning girls, Thank you for all your dust and good wishes. My heart almost stopped last night when she started hyperventilating. Luckily out vet is the best and she told me to take her peepee.... problem solved. LOL but not funny. She has my entire heart this one <3.
Hugs!

Good morning girls!

Marcy I am glad the lady enjoyed your cookies. Who wouldn't though hahaha. Yes I love peaches too and they sure tasted fresh. Grrr to that dealer. I forgot they were difficult with paying off your A6 as well. It probably won't hit 80 here today but OMG the past few days it was well into the 80s with high humidity. Today seems cooler and I believe rain is on the way for later today and tomorrow.

Thanks again for your help with which computer I should get and right now I am just waiting and thinking. LOL always a dangerous thing. When I start thinking hahaha.

OMG to your diamond pendant falling and thank goodness you heard it and yes it's a good idea to make sure it is properly clasped when putting it on your neck. I lost a bracelet hiking in Alaska because the clasp broke however and unfortunately didn't hear it drop. I like to think it is enjoying the beautiful Alaskan landscape. Make sure your necklace clasp is properly working so that doesnt happen to your lovely pendant.

We had a good Kitchen reno meeting yesterday late afternoon with the chief designer and contractor. We might be rearranging where all the appliances are located now. So it is going to be more expensive moving electrical and water lines etc. but waiting for Joe to redo the 3D model and let us know the estimate. We have problems with our kitchen arrangement now but there is no perfect solution. The space is not optimal but we are making the best of it we can as we don't want to extend it out and don't want to increase property taxes (already nuts) to make it cost prohibitive. Anxiously awaiting the estimate now. One thing we aren't sure about is if we move the sink the triangle wont be optimal for Greg so another issue. And we still don't know if we can remove part of the brick wall and beams in the ceiling without making it unaffordable.

PierreBear yes I know that too much Calcium can cause kidney stones. There are different causes of kidney stones. Did the surgeon evaluate what the kidney stones were made of as that is the best way to identify what might be the issue. I would have her find out and then consult a nutritionist at the hospital to see what changes she can make in her diet.

Sorry you tore your skirt liner but luckily it didn't show. Whew.

I am sorry it will be 3 weeks till you can get your contractor out to evaluate the problem but glad you trust him and glad it isn't rainy season by you right now. Fingers crossed it all gets worked out soon.

Scandi so happy F is doing well and sorry you had that scare when she started hyperventilating when she had to go to the bathroom. Thank goodness she is OK. Sending more hugs and healing vibes her way. (((Hugs))).

A photo of our sunrise this AM for you lovely ladies.

Have a great day girls!

Good morning ladies! Got in a run this morning and it was so chilly that I wore my sports bra with long sleeves zip down over it. However, it warmed up throughout the day and is back up in the upper 80s. Make up your mind, Texas! Today was another baking class and we finished our ice cream bombes and worked on chocolate garnishes. My partner wasn’t in class today and I was a bit worried about how I would do by myself but luckily it was an “easier” day where we were just experimenting. Our ice cream bombe didn’t quite have that color contrast distinction but it was still very tasty. Going from outside in - coffee ice cream, praline bombe mixture, chocolate genoise cake on the bottom.

Next week we have a mid-term so I won’t have anything fun pictures to share. The good news about taking a test is that we get to leave class early so I won’t feel so rushed to get to work. Of course the bad news is having to study. DH had to remind me this is for fun and who cares if I get a B. He said B is for baking! Hahaha… I have become more lax but this mentality would never work back in college.

@marcy – Kind of you to want to share your snow. Such a reminder that we live in such different places. So interesting that you are drawn towards a certain look but then have a different opinion on your hand. I remember being in LOVE with the first Emilya ring I saw on PS. Then tried on a similar ring in person and just thought there is way too much bling and light. Very funny how that works out. What is a bypass style?

So glad that you found your diamond pendant! Do you take it off/on daily?

@Scandinavian – Ohhh sorry to hear about the doggy scare and glad it was just a potty break to fix it. Wheewww!!

@missy – Yes the surgeon will be doing several tests to help my coworker understand what the issue is with her body. Good idea though on working with a nutritionist as well! I have a fear that she doesn’t eat her best. From what I can see in the fridge, she eats a cup of apple sauce every day for lunch and some cheese crackers? : / I’m hoping her dinner might be more substantial and varied but didn’t feel comfortable to delve and provide guidance so sending her to a professional might be a great first step.

Yum on the ice cream break! How come you never go for the huge waffle cone where it can drip and get completely messy? Hehe

How did the kitchen consultation go yesterday? Still deciding or getting other quotes?

One of the other teams that I wanted to share with ya'll. They used actual strawberries in their dessert so it's interesting. Would have looked awesome if they also did strawberry ice cream to have more contrast. I did a taste test and must say that it's PB approved!

Hi NIRDIs!

Scandi, sending PS dust and hugs to F. I hope she is doing better today.

Missy, the A6 payoff was a different place but it does seem to be my luck. LOL. That lady was still talking about my cookies today. My boss said she offered him one but had her other hand up like she was going to slap him if he took one. I’ll make her another batch before she leaves and make more so everyone can have a cookie or two. I think you’d like either style of laptop so I don’t think you can make a bad choice. I will definitely check my clasp from now on. I have a nicer chain that I might take in to be shortened. It’s one of those adjustable length chains and I just don’t like it when I shorten it; you have the extra chain hanging and it rolls around to the front. Maybe some cute little live teddy bear found your bracelet in Alaska and enjoys wearing it. I kind of remember some of the limitations your current kitchen puts on any reno plans; I hope they come up with the perfect solution and at a reasonable price. Beautiful pictures; the sunrise colors are glorious. Mm ice cream.

PierreBear, your ice cream bombe looks quite tasty. I didn’t know you were taking your cooking class for a grade; all the classes I took post graduation I took as audit. No grades or homework required. Ha! I agree a B for Baking is perfect. It is interesting how certain styles appeal to us but not so much when we put them on. The solitaire I had before this ering was the last one in the case. They kept trying to get me to try it on and I said no, I don’t like it. The band is too rounded. Then I put it on and loved it. My baguette ring that my EC is mounted in was the same thing. I hated it in the case. The bypass style I am thinking about is a solitaire with gold that swirls around the diamond on the top and bottom going in different directions. The band is maybe 4 to 5 mm. They are very chunky looking but a straight band looks goofy with it. I think it would be great for a gemstone RHR. I do take all of my jewelry off every night. I am a clean jewelry freak and clean it every day. The strawberry bombe looks very tasty too.

I was late this morning but not from lounging around. Our power went out overnight and I had some stuff that didn't come back on this morning. Of course all of it was on one power strip in the basement on the top shelf that is eye level for Marty but over my head. All the boxes are black and the cords are zip tied. I am trying to pull stuff down to see it and can't figure anything out. I finally called Marty and had him talk me through some things. I had to come back up to the garage and check the fuse box. The lighting in that part of the basement isn't great and Marty has "stuff" around that was blocking me and my light. Turned out to be that little CGI or whatever it's called on the outlet had popped out. Good thing I didn't have a retinal exam today as I am sure my blood pressure was pegged.

I get to work about 9 and found one of my dear passive aggressive employees texted one of her co-workers she was staying home sick. I'm telling her if she pulls that crap again it's a no call no show and that means HR is involved. I am so sick of their crap. She thinks I am mean to her - she is the one I highlighted the deflecting finger pointing sentence last week and sent back to her. She hasn't talked to me much since then.

The RV dealer (the saga that won't end) called me and said I needed to sign a release form for the title. You guessed it that haven't sent the payoff yet. I went out about 4:30 today and then he says "oh we need the account number". Good thing it was already on the payoff sheet I took them. Marty has to go sign the release on Saturday. The guy swears they are sending the payoff today and sending it overnight.

Laters,
Marcy

Hello lovelies

We've had an exhausting few days! Been to Universal and got there by 8am because the big rides get really busy. We don't do the big rollercoasters, but DS and gf love them. We've walked so much, I'd already done my 10,000 steps by 11am yesterday :-o

@marcy I can't believe the RV people still haven't settled up, and thank goodness you didn't lose your pendant. The 'dangly' on my adjustable chain has a little heart on it, which I really like.

The bombe looks really good PB. That's quite a ride to Round Rock, it's where DS's g/f family live.

@Scandinavian glad that F is through her op and on the mend, such a relief for you that she's ok now.

Lots to think about with the kitchen reno @missy we did it 2 years ago, and found such a good contractor who did everything and made such a good job of it. Fingers crossed you can achieve what you want without it being exorbitantly expensive.

Woohoo on the new earrings @junebug17 can't wait to see them. It's amazing what a difference fresh paint can make, hope your brother is settling in well.

Sorry if I've forgotten anyone, I'm shattered and my knees are aching:D We're planning on a lay day tomorrow, definitely getting too old for all this gallivanting

Big wave to all:wavey:

Missy, it sounds like the Pro might be a good choice, the extra speed and storage would be great. Love the pics of Greg's birthday dinner, the food looks delicious. Good luck getting started on the kitchen and fingers crossed the estimates are within reason, I know it's a big job and there are lots of decisions to make. Your pics of the beach and sky are gorgeous!

PB, sorry to hear the leak hasn't been resolved yet and sending good thoughts it can be taken care of soon. It's amazing what contractors can do, I'm sure they'll figure it out. Your bombe looks delicious! Good luck getting ready for your test and try not to worry, I'm sure you'll do fine. Such a sweet story about dh having studs made for you, very romantic and so thoughtful! The studs are supposed to be for Christmas but I'll probably be able to wear them before that.

Scandi,, love the pics of T and F! They look so cute together. I'm really glad F did well with her surgery and is doing ok - I'm sorry you had such a scare and very glad it wasn't anything serious. Sending you hugs, you've had a couple of very stressful days.

Marcy, I can see why your cookies were a big hit. I'm so sorry your employee didn't follow company protocol and I don't blame you for wanting to set her straight. And what a way to start the day! Sorry you had to run around trying to figure out the electrical situation. Every time we have a heavy rain one of those GFIs pop out and some of the outlets don't work. we really need to get an electrician in and see what's going on. Thank goodness you found your pendant!!! What a scare. Ugh, sorry you are still dealing with the RV people but you're in the home stretch and it will be resolved soon. Thanks for the good wishes on the house, hopefully I'll be done with it all soon.

Sharon, I'm glad you're getting in some good bike rides in spite of the chilly weather.

ETA - Austina, we were posting at the same time - so glad you're having a good time - Enjoy your day of relaxation!

Not much new with me, same stuff different day lol. Helping my brother pack tomorrow, unfortunately he doesn't get much done unless someone is there to keep him on track.

Hope everyone has a good Thursday!

Good morning girls!

Yummmmmm to PierreBear. That bombe looks so good. Good luck with your baking final. I know you'll ace it! I shared kitchen deets in my post from yesterday. Estimate info below. I'm not pleased. Oh well.

Junie so happy your brother has you to help and motivate him. He's a lucky guy. Little by ,title you're chiseling away at all you have to do. More good thoughts and energy being sent your way.

Marcy oh no to the power going out. Omg always when our guys aren't home right? And ugh to that RV dealer. Boo to him/them. Hope you receive your check soon! And grrr to your coworker. It never ends. Hope today is a good day.

Austina I hear you and don't overdo. Hope it is cooling off by you. It feels like winter here today. Hope you continue enjoying your trip with your family. Woohoo to getting all those steps in before afternoon. I love roller coasters though truth be told I now get motion sick on them so they no longer love me. :|

Scandi hope F is doing well. Please update us. Hugs.

So our kitchen estimate without appliances is 85k. I'm just so frustrated. Everything here is stupid expensive. I don't know if this is worth it to me. It's not our full time home and I'm sure it will go above Joe's estimate as we don't even know what of the brick wall can be removed as an example of the many unknowns that will cause our cost/expenses to increase. And add in appliances and bam we are well over what I want to spend. Greg said he expected this and we've budgeted for it but I feel it's just too much. Big SIGH.

And we did our due diligence and this is who we would go with so it's not like we'd get a significantly less expensive estimate for the quality but I'm frustrated because I know if we lived in another state it would be much much less expensive. So right now I'm leaning towards not doing the kitchen Reno.

Today's super windy so while the rain is going to stop soon it's too windy to cycle. So not sure of our plans. The HVAC guys were here this AM checking our system for the winter and we also had the sprinklguys here blowing out the system and shutting it off so that's done. I'm working out now and wanted to check in and wish everyone a good day. :wavey:

Leaving you with our ice cream photos from yesterday. We had our cycling break at Nagle's for a change. Yummm yummm.

Enjoy the day lovely ladies!:cool2:

Good morning! Happy Thursday and hope everyone is doing well. I’ve been in fall mode and have been roasting up butter nut squash, acorn squash, and spaghetti squash. So far my favorite has been acorn squash and can’t believe I’ve been avoiding it for so long. I feel like I’m a big squirrel but it was my first time preparing it so I just oven roasted it and then sliced it along the ridges so it looks like watermelon slices and eat it off the rind. Not sure how else to prepare it but would love to know what ya’ll ladies do or have any recipes to share.

Seeing my cousin tonight! We are going to do a spin class together and then head out for dinner. Tomorrow will be an annual physical and hopefully the DR will say blood results look normal and healthy. I’m not a fan of getting my blood drawn though. I have to look away like a little kid. Squeamish beyond belief. Haha… I know it’s good for me though. Will get it done.

@marcy – You made quite an impression with the cookies. Great job, baking queen!

I don’t really want to take the classes for a grade and inquired about auditing it. However, I don’t think many people ask about that option so they were a bit lost so I just went with the normal program. I think I ruffled feathers already as I am doing it for fun and not pursuing a degree, which isn’t their ideal scenario. If I don’t finish the program, it can look I skewed their numbers as someone who didn’t “graduate.”

Good job on cleaning your jewelry. I don’t have that incorporated into my routine yet so I think I’m once a week at best.

Way to go on working with Marty to get all the power turned on again. Hopefully if it ever happens again, he would be home to help out next time. My MIL has mentioned before that she wouldn’t be able to live in our house. Everything in our kitchen seems out of reach for her and she would need a stool.

By this Saturday, hopefully the RV saga will be over. Vroom vroom! Beep beep! Good bye pay off!

@Austina – Glad you are having a great time at the amusement parks. Those are a bunch of steps! Perhaps a pay off deserves a fun dessert? Or pool relax time?

What has been your favorite ride so far?

@junebug17 – Fun that the studs are for Christmas. I forget that it’s right around the corner.

Good luck with packing with your brother. You are a great sister!
