Now I really did it :((

Hi Nirdis!

Missy, so glad you had a good time at your friend's party. Woo-hoo to passing 2400 miles and I hope you make your goal! I can totally see how Bubbalah is your ultimate diamond, definitely no need to look any further! Love the pic of Pepsi, so sweet :kiss2: The feral feeder is really coming along, looks fantastic and that dormer is adorable. Gorgeous pic of the view from your house. Great news that a nirdi was able to connect you to a helpful doctor, I really hope he can shed some light on your medical issues. Love the pic of Tommy, and Zoe thinks he's the cutest lol! Great pic of you and Greg, and I love the beach pic. The Jersey shore really is a beautiful place.

@Tekate, happy to hear the stitch removal went ok, I'm continuing to send lots of healing vibes to you! Hope you're feeling well and having a nice weekend.

@Sandeek, I'm thinking of you and hoping you are feeling ok as you get ready for the start of school. Please take care and rest when you need to; my dd is a teacher so I know it can be pretty exhausting getting everything ready for the arrival of students.

Austina, hope you had a lovely time with your friends and yay to no cooking!

Marcy, glad to hear that you and Marty are having a relaxing weekend. You both deserve it, you guys work hard and are always on the go. Too bad you had to deal with work and your high-maintenance employee but I guess it could have been worse. I agree, it's pretty nervy to ask someone if they can drive your car! Kabobs sound perfect for a Labor Day barbecue. I didn't know there was a tv series featuring Jack Ryan, I'll have to pass that on to dh. It's right up his alley.

It's our last day here in SC, heading back to NJ tomorrow morning. We'll spend the day packing, doing laundry, and straightening up the house. Maybe take a walk on the beach. And watch some golf lol. My sister and bil headed home today. We had a nice time visiting - they have a Bichon puppy and he is SO adorable!

Here's Zoe enjoying herself on vacation!37A0B259-A101-4239-A28A-D98868B99915.jpeg

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Hi NIRDI’s! Happy Labor Day.

Missy, darn that you couldn’t make it to both parties but that is understandable you went to the one you were invited to first. It sounds like you had a nice time. The Jack Ryan series is based on the Tom Clancy series of books with that character. There have been several movies from specific books like Hunt for Red October and Patriot Games. Yes, I thought the series was pretty good. You should make 2500 miles easily this year. Do you keep track of your mileage total over the years? My dad kept track of all of his miles on snow machines every year and then added them up. We couldn’t find the final number for his funeral but they usually put well over 2000 miles on them in a season and he rode for decades. That is a very fancy feral feeder; very cool. You and Greg are both so photogenic; you both look great. Yes, your kitties sure know how to relax; I can see why that rug looks very soft and comfy.

Junebug, thank you for the chuckle. Great Peanuts comic. That is so true. I agree asking to drive someone’s car is pretty nervy; I was pretty shocked he asked me. The Jack Ryan series is pretty good; it’s based on a young Jack Ryan and the Jim Greer character is definitely different than portrayed in the books or movies. I love the picture of Zoe with the iPad. Very cute. Have a safe trip home.

Our kabobs were good; the little potatoes needed cooked a bit more so I baked them for about 20 minutes to throw in with our leftovers. Easy supper. Woo hoo!

Marty’s golf buddy cancelled on him so he’s lifting now. He was pricing out a 15” MacBook Pro a while ago; ouch! He always adds things way past normal specs. His MacBook Pro is over 5 years old. I keep nagging at him to replace our router; I am hoping it helps my issues with dropped internet and inability to find the printer.

Back to my book.
Take care.
Marcy

June, I love that photo of Zoe on the computer. Does she have her own blog? I would love to read that!
How fun that your sister has a cute puppy. How did you find the southern weather? Better or worse that in the North? It has been a, shall I say, miserable summer in NC for the most part.

Marcy, I love when you write about potatoes and kebobs. Please, keep up that home style reporting. It give me faith that some people, somewhere, are eating good meals, lifting weights, and driving a Porsche lol. What are you reading?

Tekate, great news on your stitches coming out. Please keep reporting about your progress. XX
What are you up to?

Missy, omg, your kitties have a dormer!! I can’t wait to see this project in its completion.

I leave for France in seven days! DD goes to the embassy in Atlanta tomorrow to apply for a long stay visa. Fingers crossed.
It is said that getting one depends on who interviews you. Every source says different things about what paperwork to take. Some say if you are marrying you can apply in France, others say you must apply here. You cannot talk to anyone at the embassy to have questions answered, so dd must make that day long drive there [and stay over two nights] to figure out what is going on. Kind of nuts, but if you’ve been to France, you know this feels like « business as usual »..

GM girls!!!! Happy unofficial beginning of autumn lol it's in the 90s F here so it is surely summer for a while by us at least. Heading back to NYC today. Not ready for "real" life. Help.:P2

@junebug17 awww Zoe is such a sweet baby and so beautiful. Tommy has a mega crush on her but shhh don't tell HRH.:shhh:
Thanks for all your kind comments always. You are so sweet and loving and kind. (((Hugs))).
Yay for enjoying a lovely visit with your sister and BIL and their Bichon puppy. Sounds like a perfect visit.
Hope your travels back go smoothly and that all is calm by you.
That Snoopy cartoon is perfect.

@marcy we hit over 2500 miles on the bike yesterday. My goal is 3k but not sure if we will make it before the bad weather hits here. Heat wave now (but leaving today anyway) and then rain all weekend. So we shall see. Still pleased with all the cycling we enjoyed this summer which was no easy feat given all the appointments I had and going back and forth into the city etc. Not too shabby even if we do not reach our goals but well you know I am goal oriented so hoping we get to that 3K mark. With our carbon tandem we hit 4K during cycling season but with this bike 3K is comparable given the weight and the more challenging aspect of cycling up hills etc and we are going a full 25-30% slower on this bike as compared to our carbon tandem,. It's a good workout for sure. It kicks our butt.

Your easy supper sounds quite delicious. Kabobs and potatoes. Yummmmm. Yes the MacBooks are expensive and when you add the features it starts getting a bit crazy but I have always found you can never get too much storage and memory on my devices. Hopefully when your router is replaced it will help with all those pesky technology issues you are having. Speaking of which I am a bit nervous as to what we will find back in NYC re everything working. Fingers crossed all is OK there.

Thanks for the explanation of the Jack Ryan series. Sounds good and will check it out. And thank you for your always lovely and kind comments dear Marcy. You are a sweetheart through and through. All I will say is not always (re photogenic) believe me. In fact I have posted some awful ones here over the years. Sometimes I just share it all.
:oops2: :P2

Hope today is a good "Monday" for you back at work but no matter what it's only 4 days til Friday woohoo.

@Jimmianne hello there. Yes the kitties have a dormer. Haha only Greg would think of those details. He feels a large roof looks better with a dormer or some other architectural feature gives it more visual interest and makes it more interesting. Progress as of yesterday.

feralfeederdormer.jpg.png

feralfeederdormer.jpeg.png

Good luck getting your visa Jimmianne! Fingers and toes crossed for you that it goes well. Lots of red tape you need to get through and to that end we are all sending you so many good luck vibes.

@Tekate how are you feeling? How was your long weekend? Thinking good thoughts for you. XO.

@Sandeek hello there, good luck this week...sending you healing vibes and good thoughts for your return to the work force. (((Hugs))).

Have a wonderful Tuesday girls. Sending love and hugs your way and safe travels to all.:wavey:
Leaving you with a Labor Day Monday beach scene as we were riding along the shore yesterday. Love the clouds.

The feeder is coming along very nicely Missy and it's truly a wonderful thing.. all animals and feral cats need their place in our cities, keep posting pix!

@Jimmianne do you live in France too, or just your daughter? I've been to France a few times, it's beautiful, I always love the trains in Europe, not quite feasible here because the USA is so big, but we should try.. how's wedding planning going? Stitches are out girl! yup, feels better, how you doing? I think my 4 bottom front teeth are dying tho, we shall see when I go to the surgeon..

@Sandeek how's work? how are you@!!!!!!!????

Hello lovelies

Hope you’ve had a safe journey home today @junebug17 and it’s not too hot and sticky. How did Zoe get on with the puppy, did she amuse herself on the tablet to make the trip less boring? :D

Yay to leftovers @marcy, food tastes better second time around, not to mention the added bonus of a cooking free day. Hope work wasn’t too bad today and you didn’t have any issues to sort out.

I hope your DD gets everything sorted out at the embassy today @Jimmianne . Did she see any other wedding dresses she liked, she looked so beautiful in the 2 pictures you posted? We’re flying next Wednesday, so wave when you fly by over us :mrgreen2:

Glad you feel on the mend @Tekate and you’ve got a few weeks respite from DRs appts.

Greg is so clever @missy, the pussy palace is coming along really well. Wow, you’ve certainly clocked up the miles on the tandem. Phew, 90 deg s, those are summer temps, it’s meant to be autumn. It’s really warm here today too.

Safe journey back to the city, hope you find everything in order when you get home.

Richard was supposed to start work on the house yesterday, but he was ill, so started today. We chose a warmer colour for the render, and it looks really good. He’s got the first coat of pain and woodstain on over the garage.

Started back at Pilates today, boy am I going to ache tomorrow

Hi NIRDI’s!

Jimmianne, I had to chuckle that you want to hear about my very boring life. I appreciate it. I feel it’s very mundane and routine. I am reading a series called the War Planners; it’s a spy, CIA story about China deciding to invade and take over the United States. It’s kept my interest anyway. That is exciting you’ll be heading back to France so soon. Did the house issue get settled? What dress did your DD pick? That is crazy how difficult it sounds to get a Visa. The Visa you get in Uganda is a page in your passport that costs $20 U.S. dollars.

Missy, fall weather is awesome plus we get pretty leaves. Hitting 2500 miles is not too shabby and it does sound like this tandem bike is quite a work out; good for you guys! I agree with you on getting as much memory and speed as possible on your PC. I told Marty he could buy it. He was pricing out a new F150 tonight. He must be bored. Oh wait, I was looking at pink sapphire earrings tonight too. I hope everything was okay when you arrived back in the city. Awe thank you. It’s easy to be nice to you and the other NIRDI ladies. You are a sweet lady. The feral house looks amazing and I like adding architectural interest to it. Yay Greg! Great beach shot.

Tekate, I am delighted to hear you are feeling okay and are appointment free for a few weeks.

Austina, the kabobs were good fresh but I didn’t have luck warming some of it up today for lunch. I put the pineapple in a separate bag and it leaked all over. The beef was kind of overdone to begin with so was pretty dry; luckily the chicken and potatoes heated up great. I lucked out on dishes again today; Marty had a light breakfast and had lunch out. We grilled burgers and veggies tonight so easy clean up there. I love the new color of your house; it makes you house look richer. Very nice. I hope you don’t get too achy from pilates.

Work wasn’t bad today. My problem employee stayed home sick after lunch. I didn’t have any meetings today so that was nice.

Tomorrow is Wednesday already. Sweet.
Take care.
Marcy

Hello lovelies

Been another beautiful day her today, Richard’s getting on really well with the painting.

A friend at Pilates yesterday mentioned that they were getting a dog, so I offered her the spare crate we have, and she came to collect it today, and brought chocolates. I’ve hidden them or Colin would’ve eaten them all by now

That’s a shame your food wasn’t as good @marcy, but woohoo that you didn’t have any problems at work. My abs are killing me today  I can really feel they’ve been worked.

I was going to ask whether you’d had any more thoughts on the pink sapphire earrings, is there a trip on the horizon for shopping? ;)2

I hope all the NIRDIS are doing well, sending good thoughts and virtual hugs to you all.

:wavey:

HI:

Hello ya'll NIRDI's!

Back from a nice vacay. Travelled a lot, stuffed my gob, and am a bit jet lagged.

My DH had to fly to Denver at the crack of dawn today..business calls. We landed at supper last night, so it was a bit of a slog for him. When I asked him if he had time for Mikimoto pearls earrings in Denver...he replied...what MIckey Mouse? (at the airport shopping area of course....LOL) Hrumph.:P2

cheers--Sharon

HI NIRDIs!!!

I'm definitely coming back for a catch up this weekend - can't wait to see what everyone's been up to. I did see some new (and new to some people) bling over in the other forum :love::love::love:.

Austina, if you come down to London with that rock, my OEC is going to develop and inferiority complex!

Back soon
x

Hi there NIRDIs! Thank you so much for the well wishes! School started for the kiddos yesterday and after a long, hot (no AC in school) day I had to go for my two-hour hyperbaric treatment. I will admit to feeling quite overwhelmed. I may even have almost had a tear or two. Because after the long day I had to come home and make phone calls (bills are pouring in), refill prescriptions, eat, prep for the next day. Too much. And this is my day everyday until the treatments end in a few weeks. This infection is a full-time job and I also have my real full-time job to attend too. I do have the time to take off but I will need a bone graft this winter so trying to tough it out now.

One strange phenomena with the hyperbaric treatment I had read about is that some people report that their eyesight gets better, especially near sightedness. Well, I did not expect to then lose my distance vision. I can now read the tiniest of print but can’t see distance at all. I think it’s supposed to be temporary but I just had my reading glasses filled and now they are useless. And driving is a rough too....

@missy Your beloved hubby is so talented! I love what he has made for your felines. What a beautiful, kind couple you both are. I loved the pics of you both this past weekend. You can read love and happiness all over your faces! And amazing how many miles you bike! Wow! Thank you for remembering me in your posts. Even though I may not have time to answer, the alerts always make my day. :kiss2:

@Austina So nice that your weather is wonderful! And I love your home and the color you’re painting! Classic English Tudor! Beautiful. I would love to see completed pics! When will you be coming stateside again?

@Tekate How are you feeling? I’m sorry to hear the teeth may be dying. Hoping the antibiotics help stop that progression if possible. I wonder if hyperbaric treatment wouldn’t help you as well....my insurance is covering it in full so something to consider. It is time consuming but it is really supposed to be beneficial for infection, especially in places where blood flow is limited, like bone and especially the mandible. I get my blood drawn every two weeks to check infection/inflammation rate. It’s a long road, yes? Be well!!

@Jimmianne I hope the visa went through and the interviewer was the ‘right’ one. How’s exciting to be heading to France. I hope upir new home seller have relented and are leaving the fixtures they were threatening to remove! Enjoy and safe trip!

Hi @marcy reading your posts always make me crave what you make! Too bad I hate to cook and hubby doesn’t cook. Lol. Hope your work week is going well!

@junebug17 I hope it was not too hard to leave the beach and go back to normal life. I love the beach too! Thank you for thinking of me!

If I missed anyone, I apologize. It’s getting late now! Night all!

Hi NIRDI’s!

Austina, that’s nice to hear the painter is making progress on your house. I feel sorry for whoever paints our house; the back is 3 stories. That’s a good deal getting chocolates in exchange for using a spare crate. I hope you aren’t as sore tomorrow. They say “no pain, no gain” - but what do they know? I think I’ve picked out the pair of pink sapphire earrings I want but of course only from pictures. Every time I think we can take a trip either Marty gets busy or I’m out of money. I just had to pay his work credit card again before his reimbursement shows up. Luckily the pair I think I want isn’t that expensive so I’ll probably order them. If I don’t like them I have 60 days to return or exchange them and surely I can make it to Denver in that amount of time. I want dangles and the one I posted earlier just isn’t my style; I can’t really say why but I’m not sure I’d like them. They have some round dangles that are about .33 ct each which I’d get if they were a little larger in size. The one’s I thinking of buying are PC dangle with .23 ct each and they have a kind of halo around them. I wish they were larger but I printed them out to real life size and I think they’d be okay, the little halo of diamonds will add size. I can always ask them if they could put in larger stones. You honestly NEVER see earrings on me anyway; I never pull my hair up or back because it’s too thick. I’ll post a picture below of the ones I’ll probably order.

Sharon, I am glad you had a great vacation. I kept meaning to ask if your DH had made it to Denver yet? Hopefully he gets to visit Hyde Park and brings home a nice present for you.

Jaaron, please post pictures of your OEC. You know I still don’t have one; I’m trying to cut back these days. Really; or so I tell myself.

Sandeek, you certainly did have a long day. Are you a teacher? When I was an adjunct teacher at our local college I hated Mondays. I went to work at 7:30; rushed home at 4:30 to eat and get my school bag. I was on campus until 9:30 then usually came home to a messy kitchen which my OCD will not let go until tomorrow then I still had to grade papers for my online class. I don’t miss those days. Oh no to your vision changing; maybe you can get distance glasses for driving. I hope that clears up for you. Both Marty and I like to cook; and strangely we don’t cook things the same way at all. I was thinking today lasagna sounds good but I want my recipe not his. Marty if he plays golf this weekend I’ll brew a batch up for us.

My number 1 challenging employee was out sick today; it made for a rather pleasant day at work. I had my work done by 3:30 and luckily something showed up about 4 pm to keep me busy. I picked up window food on the way home since I need to pick up for the cleaning lady tonight. Marty bought a new router today. This one has multi channels and can handle a lot of "traffic". There is a satellite receiver in the living room and the router is downstairs. He said right now we have 30 devices on the system. He assigned an IP address to the printer and it worked both times I used it tonight. Woo hoo! So far the internet hasn't dropped once tonight.
Is it too early to ask - who's idea was it to replace the router? I know it never pays to get cocky. I did ask him why all the “rabbit ears” we have upstairs don’t help with our reception? I have no idea why he thinks I’m a flake.

Here are the earrings I might order. The website says they are an inch long; the PC would be about 3.8 mm with little diamond accents.
Screen Shot 2018-09-05 at 7.28.22 PM.png
Take care.
Marcy

Good morning girls!

@Sandeek aww that was a challenging first day back and anyone would feel overwhelmed by it all. You are doing so great and have come so far. Handling it all with grace and strength and I am in complete awe of you. No AC in school would have been my melting (haha) point. I have a new symptom and I just cannot breathe if the air is hot or heavy and it is scary. I cannot wait for your hyperbaric treatments to end in a few weeks so you can at least have this one thing off your to do list every single day. As far as your vision is concerned I hope it returns to normal when you are done with treatments. I hope each day gets a bit easier and more manageable and that being back at school makes day to day life richer and better and more rewarding and that more good days are ahead and the bad ones far behind. (((HUGS))).
And thank you for all your kind and generous comments. Means a lot to me too. XO.

@marcy gorgeous pink sapphire earrings. Pinkaliciously sweet. I am glad work was pleasant yesterday and hope you have more pleasantness ahead. Congrats on the new router and may it solve all your computer issues. Haha I hear you on having good ideas but at least our men are smart enough to (eventually) listen to us and do what we say. The wife knows best.:halo:
Everything was in tip top shape when we arrived home to NYC, thanks for asking. It's nice to be back at least for a few days. Probably heading back to the beach the weekend though dr appointments sort of make it challenging schedule but we can take the ferry in if we go to the beach so we will see.
Tomorrow is Friday woohoo. I know you enjoy those short workweeks marcy and who can blame you.8-)

@Tekate how are you feeling? You are not old nor feeble. You are strong and courageous and young (at heart and in mind) where it counts. Yay for no appointments till the end of September. That is something to celebrate in itself. Hope you are feeling better and doing OK and I am thinking of you. (((Hugs))).

@Austina yay for the painting going well. Nice of you to give your dog crate to your friend and nice she brought chocolates for you. How is Pilates going? I totally forgot I haven't done my Pilates for months lol. It's been a busy summer but once we get back to the NYC frame of mind I will start doing Pilates daily again. But I know at first it is going to hurt because I am totally out of Pilates shape. Oh well no pain no gain (and I am trying to gain!)
We are in a real feel of a hundred degrees here omg. Has your heat wave broken? It is not officially a heat wave by us this time because it isn't three days in a row of actual 90 plus degree temps but yes real feel is up there and today is super hot as was yesterday and the day before. Stay cool.:cool2:

@canuk-gal welcome home and glad you had a lovely vacation. Did someone say Mikimoto?8)

@jaaron ooooh did you say OEC? I recently got Bubbalah-my dream OEC for my final (yup you heard that right) ER stone . And now @Austina has Bella (bella and wunderbar), @junebug17 has a delicious amazing OEC, @rainwood has Elle (Ellegantly (d)ellelicious and specelle), @LLJsmom has her amazbling MK (THUD!). @PierreBear has a gorgeous OEC, @Jimmianne has Joy who is a joy to behold, and I know I am leaving people out. I am sorry if I left anyone out but it's been a challenging few days. It was not intentional. But @jaaron welcome to the OEC club. It's open to everyone who loves and adores old cuts and the old gals who wear and enjoy them.:sun: Would love to see everyone's photos of their diamond rings old cut or not and ER or not. They are all beautiful and special and glorious...wouldn't it be nice to get to photograph all of them together? I have a photo of Junie, Rainwood, LLJsmom and Callie and my ring all together somewhere. One of my favorite bling pics.

We had a busy 2 days and in a nutshell I had a bit of a scare and won't get results back for a few months most likely about the latest scare but I am feeling more zen about it. Saw my endocrinologist yesterday early morning and he agreed we can hold off on thyroid meds for now but he feels I need them but is willing to see what the latest tests show. Then my hematologist called me yesterday afternoon with some worrisome news and I had to make an emergency appointment with my internist yesterday after that call to investigate. So yesterday was a bit of unwelcome excitement. Hopefully today is calmer though we have to bring Fred in to see my sister as he is not doing well. Heartbreaking but we are thinking good thoughts and holding strong and hoping he will be OK. Dear Fred is such a love. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers girls. Thank you. XO.

Hope everyone is doing well and have a wonderful Thursday.:wavey:

Leaving you with a closeup of our dear sweet Freddy boy.

@missy aw thank you, you are a sweetheart of girl. Lucky us! I'm good thank you. I feel as though maybe this will be cured. I hope @Sandeek is doing well, her osteomyelitis was more advanced than mine, it's a terribly sneaky bacteria - actinomyces - how are you? I hope you are preparing for fall, beach time is the best in the fall imho. xoxoxo Why do you have a hematologist? I can say sometimes I don't read every day... @Sandeek gosh you are my hero.. take it slow.. @missy sending healing, loving, caring vibes to you and Fred.. ((MISSY)) let me know about these tests, please..

@canuk-gal HI Sharon!

@marcy could be your router but it also sounds like your provider is doing something... ?? we have Spectrumfromhell and we can tell they dial us back at times during the day and evening, one can also tell if they are watching a netlfix film say and all of a sudden it just stops... we are total PC users, never had an apple product - EVER.. but my hubster worked for the competition! :) I'm onto a chromebook after my Asus notebook dies. Apple quality is unparalleled they say. A new router is always great.. . new router can always help I'm sure. And finally, those earrings are totally beautful.. wow.. I love sapphires..

@Austina Pilates, I think I would break! it looks so healthy! keep going. Painting.. I love painting especially if we don't do it, but I'm game :) new paint always revives.. pix!

@Jimmianne all go well with the Visa? anything new on the wedding? I still have not been able to process my son's wedding in March of 17.. daughter's are different I am sure! what do you plan to wear??? exciting times!

Today I finally get my hair cut and styled.. my cutter girl had a baby and was out for 2 months and is back.. when I look in the mirror I see my mom.. and I think, Dang I hated when her hair looked like this! hahah.

I have been sharing my DNA with the world and getting back all kinds of fascinating insight into me.. I'm still all western eurasian (whatever that REALLY is).. one site says I have green eyes and then farther down it says I have 99% chance of blue eyes (that tricky DNA) I have always said I have hazel eyes so there you go! also I leave it with a funny! one site on 3 different alles said I have 'large/normal for european" breasts.. hubster and I discussed this in detail (Otherwise he said the future world will be just my clones ! ha). I agreed with the analysis, we just thought it funny (normal/European breasts ha)..

have great a great day in this damn heat.. we have had several days over 90, for Maine that is redic.

xo kate

@Austina love the new color, very serene!

Good morning! Apologies that I’ve been MIA and not keeping up with everyone’s lives. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoyed Labor Day weekend. Gosh life has continued to been busy and I’m just hanging by a thread. From a quick recap, DH was recently bit by a neighbor’s dog. We did got to the DR and the neighbors tried to make amends but it was a bit startling. Everyone was just surprised. On a better note, DH and I got something off our bucket list and tried skeet shooting for the first time. I would never hunt animals so just clay targets. Not sure if I would do that again but fun experience. Gosh my shoulder hurt so much from it. Hmmm also watched Crazy Rich Asians. Felt a lot of emotions from watching that type of movie as an Asian American. Entertaining movie though and I would recommend it. My baking class did start up but it has just been class work and not in the kitchen yet. However, still struggling to fit everything in life right now.

The biggest thing I wanted to share is if ya’ll could send prayers/dust for my work environment. I had a coworker yesterday come up to me in tears and said that she’s been tolerating her boss/work environment for 10 years and just can’t handle it much more. I’ve only been fighting these feelings for a lot less years but it’s getting harder and harder each day. It breaks my heart that so many people are struggling and the people who should act like leaders just are so far from it…. Anyhow, thanks for listening! Hope everyone has a great day and will do my best to check in more frequently.

@missy – Sorry to hear that there are still medical issues that you are still fighting. Very sweet of Fred to keep you company though. Emergency appointment with an internist seems like time is of the essence?

@marcy – Oohhh look at your new potential earrings. Sorry I’m behind but I thought you were itching for sapphires? I do love dangly things though!

@Austina – Your new coat of paint on your home looks wonderful! Great choice!

@junebug17 – hahaha so hilarious that Zoe is looking at your laptop. Is she watching something move on the screen?

Hello lovelies

My, you’ve all been busy chatting today

Awwww sorry you and your colleague are finding your work conditions so stressful @PierreBear . Considering how much time is spent at work, you shouldn’t dread going in every day. Is there any possibility of finding another job, where you’ll be happier?

Oh no to Mr PB getting bitten, is he ok? What type of dog was it? We were out yesterday and were talking to another dog owner, when a lady with a Doberman came up. Her dog was a rescue and extremely nervous, he was fine one minute, then almost bit the man we were talking to the next.

 Pilates is quite gentle exercise @Tekate I can honestly say it’s the only hour of the week that I truly relax and think of nothing but my breathing. It’s only the next day you know your muscles have had a work out.

I’ve been waiting to get my hair cut to coincide with the trip, because it grows so quickly, so I’m absolutely desperate. Thank goodness I’m getting it cut and coloured tomorrow, I look even more Lily Munster, as it’s been 8 weeks :-o

Oy, 100 degrees @missy , what’s going on with your weather? Someone forgot to tell Mother Nature it’s autumn.

Oh no to more unpleasant and unwelcome medical problems, you just can’t get a break :( I really hope that you can get on top of these latest developments. I’m sorry Fred needs a visit to your sister, everything crossed she can sort him out.

I’m glad that at least everything was fine when you got back to the city, one less worry for you.

So glad you enjoyed your trip @canuk-gal - hey, stuffing your gob is the main perk isn’t it? :cool2: I hope you get your Mickey Mouse pearls

Goodness @Sandeek no wonder you’re feeling overwhelmed, anyone would be even if they weren’t dealing with all the other things you’re coping with. You’re only human, doing a full days work then going for treatment, wow, I don’t know how you’re doing it. Take good care of yourself.

We’re heading to Tx on Wednesday, so lots to do in the next couple of days.

I  those earrings @marcy , really elegant and sophisticated. I know what you mean about them not being seen, I’m the same, but I like knowing I’m wearing them.

Reeeesult that your problem employee wasn’t in yesterday

Yay to the new router, fingers crossed it’s sorted out all the issues.

Hey @jaaron I’d love to see your OEC, I’m actually just outside of London :D

Been a lovely day here again, Richard has finished all the painting, just has to do the door frame tomorrow, then he’s done.

Will post a pic once the outside is all tidied up.

We’ve got so out of the habit of getting up early these days, that we’re zonked, we’re off to bed early

:wavey:

HI:

Missy--I hope Fred is OK! And sorry to hear about your latest medical news--you need a break!

PB--sorry to hear your job is stressful. I hope you can find something better that can provide you with satisfaction--I agree with Austina.

I think I'll have to get my own MM pearl earrings. It is our 33 anniversary tomorrow--so I have a reason.:lol-2:

Healing vibes to all the NIRDI's who need it.:wavey:

cheers--Sharon

Hi NIRDI’s!

Missy, I hate to hear you are having more health concerns and troubles. i hope your tests and appointments comes up with some solutions for you. I am sorry Fred isn’t doing so well. Big hugs to all of you. So far the router is working great. In a week or two I bet it will be Marty’s idea to try a new router. Ha Ha. As long as it works, eh? I will probably get those pink sapphire earrings ordered; I think I’ll like them. The only other pair I saw online that I like were created sapphires and I know that would bother me. Glad to hear everything was fine when you arrived home. My friend who was vacationing in Manhattan this past weekend had a wonderful time. They got to see Wicked and then some other show Sunday night. She said everywhere they ate was delicious. They didn’t visit the diamond district though, I’m like HUH?

Tekate, I totally chuckled at your internet provider Spectrumfromhell; that is who we have too. We had Bresnan for a long time, then Optimum and now Spectrum; they are by far the worst provider we’ve ever had. We bought our first Apple about 10 years ago and I doubt we’d ever go back to a Windows platform. My last laptop before my Mac was a Sony with Vista; I fire-walled myself off our network so Marty set all updates to manual. One night my laptop said - no you much download these updates and there were about 100 that started downloading. I thought it was broke (after about an hour) so I pulled the battery. BAD IDEA! Marty had to do a total reset. We were at an Apple store the following weekend buying me an Apple Air. If the Apple store had been local I think I would have returned it in the first few days but after I got used to it; I became a fan. I love sapphires too; how could we not? Interesting DNA results; lol to the European breasts. Marty’s told him he has the asparagus gene. i tell people at work my results (which I’ve never actually done) show me as 78% victim. Nice that you got your hair cut.

PierreBear, oh no I am so sorry your DH got bit by the neighbor’s dog. Is he okay? Did he need stitches and shots? I am glad the neighbors are trying to make amends. How fun to do some skeet shooting. I did that once in college; it was a good time. I need to watch that movie; quite a few of you have mentioned it. Nice that your cooking class has started again. I am so sorry your work environment is so bad; is it something that can be helped by going through HR? Good luck to both you and your coworker. Once so many things start nothing seems to help or make it better. Those earrings do have small pink sapphires in them; maybe I should get Marty to run me down to Denver so I can shop in person. Knowing me I’ll ask about peach sapphires and I’ll end up with another ring.

Austina, good luck with your hair cut tomorrow. You’ll be in Texas soon. Are you still going to visit Whiteflash since you bought Bella? Those earrings remind me of a ring I have from that store and it’s one of my favorites. It’s amazing how much sparkle and shine you get from those little diamond chips. My sentiments exactly on earrings; we know they are there and want to like what we are wearing. Nice that your house is done. I bet it looks great!

Sharon, happy anniversary tomorrow! 33 years is something to be celebrated. Definitely you should get your own MM pearls. How is your mom doing?

I met a friend for lunch today and enjoyed getting out of the office. Marty grilled steak and corn on the cob for supper; I cut up 1/2 of my steak for lunch tomorrow. Our cleaning lady came today so I did a batch of towels and tried to set up another wireless camera tonight on a windowsill. It is designed to be mounted; I have it propped up in a a few Rubbermaid containers. I tried shoving it in to a Puffs box but that didn’t work at all. Strange! I am trying a new (old) method with my employees that I feel is kind of like giving up but it may help reduce all of our stress. We do mostly manual entries and my boss is overly picky about a few errors here and there. When I have them fix those mistakes especially the 2 negative ladies it becomes such a hassle because they complain about me micro managing them. So I decided as long as it’s not a process error that I am just going to fix them. If they are happier maybe morale will improve and everyone will be less stressed. I have just decided fighting a losing battle is hurting me more than them. I did tell my boss today he’s not known for being Mr. Sunshine and Lollipops. Oops, my inner dialogue leaks out sometimes.

Take care.
Marcy

Happy FriYAY! Hope everyone is doing well. Supposed to do a work event with DH tonight where it is a running relay make up of four people. However, it might get canceled with the thunderstorms. I’m quite ok with the cancellation and to just unwind in the evening but it would impact a lot of people if they canceled the event. In-laws are coming to town this weekend so will be cooking and cleaning to prepare. Should be a good time but hope to get some downtime as well.

@Austina – Thanks for your concern but DH is healing up nicely and it was just a black mutt they adopted. Possibly the dog had abuse issues prior to their adoption? Looking forward to seeing the finale pictures of your home after the painting! Give some petting to Dottie for me!

@canuk-gal – Yes agree, I can easily find employment elsewhere and also the reason why I’m doing part time work on the side to set myself up for an easy transition if needed. However, it’s a very strange situation here that other people would be suffering more if I left since it would be challenging to bring on someone new who would want to work for an entity that isn’t thriving. I’m not saying that I’m not dispensable but part of the problem is that this entity can easily be shut down by the state at any point in time and who would want to put themselves in that situation willingly? In fact, in many ways I really hope for this entity to wind down… it would resolve many problems who are just counting down to retirement and not being responsible with their duties or abusing the benefits. I definitely feel lost on what is the right thing to do. Sorry, I got into it but I’ll stop there and thanks for listening! It certainly is a dilemma that impacts people’s daily lives though. Now my job prior, when I was working for a large public company, I had no qualms about packing up my bags and saying good bye! Hahaha… simpler times back then.

Oh my goodness. Happy 33rd anniversary to you! Hope you do a show and tell. What does MM stand for?

@marcy – No stiches but he got a tetanus shot and antibiotics. It’s finally scabbing up and no longer oozing everywhere! We are such a small entity that there is no HR department. My boss handles that “area” and unfortunately, he’s one of the people abusing the benefits and only shows up to work 10 hours a week at most? Just excuse after excuse of why he needs to leave early. Appreciate the good wishes and enjoy the shopping in Denver with Marty!

Sorry to hear about your employee challenges and may it not continue to impact your own morale. Haha… not being known for “sunshine and lollipops” is a very nice way to put it.

@missy – Hope your appointments are going well. Big hugs to you and all the cats. Hope you are still enjoying your lovely beach home renovations. Catch any Broadway shows lately?

Hi everyone!

No internet at my house so I’m just popping in to say hello - am using my phone to post this and it would take me about 12 hours to do a proper reply!

Missy, sorry to hear about your latest health concern and I hope you get some answers soon. Thinking of sweet Fred, so sorry he is not doing well and I hope your sister was able to help him.

Jimmianne, I hope things went ok with regard to your dd’s visa. It sounds like a confusing process. Exciting that you are heading to France soon.

PB, so sorry to hear about your dh getting bitten and I hope he’s ok. It’s terrible morale is so low at work, any thoughts about looking for another job? I know it’s easier said than done but it’s a shame to have to deal with this day in and day out.

Marcy, maybe your latest idea for handling little errors is the way to go, sounds like your boss is part of the problem and maybe less criticism will improve the morale of your employees. Sorry you are dealing with this, you’re in a tough spot. Love the earrings you are considering, really pretty! I love the color pink.

Sandeek, totally understandable you’d be feeling overwhelmed, you are dealing with a lot right now. The weekend is almost here, I’m hoping you can rest and regroup the next few days. Take one day at a time and hang in there. (((Hugs)))

Sharon, welcome back! Good to hear you had a lovely time.

I know I missed some things but it’s hard for me too go back in the thread on my phone! Not much new with me, just catching up with things around the house after being away. Thinking of you all!

@marcy my best friend has used only macs for 20 years :) so I understand that people love their machines.. we just could never stand Jobs, never stand the hype and to us (in the semi world this is) we could build the same machine without all the userfriendly baloney (husband says).. Of course I would love to go back to 80 column machines. One should feel comfortable with their machine and Apply makes a nice, user friendly machine, never had one of their phones, never will as we are android all the way at this point. I use an Essential phone. Of course we change phones once ever 4 years or so (cheap runs in both our fams).. glad you like your Macs!

@PierreBear I sincerely hope your husband is okay.. dog bites can be very nasty! sending good healing vibes his way.

@Sandeek sincerely hope every day get's better for you.. ((((SANDEEK))))

@Austina hot in Texas (according to number one son anyway)... how's Bella? I love Bella.. Maybe I will try pilates :) maybe yoga too!

@junebug17 you are so nice.. after that pix you saw, we went home and man I become very very sick.. not sure I will EVER go back to Rising Tide. :( husband is fine.. always me... xo

@missy any news on tests? when are you headed back to the city?

oops posted by accido..

@canuk-gal how's your weather?

to EVERYONE, have a super nice weekend. sending love to the NIRDIs.

Hello lovelies

 to telling your boss the bitter truth @marcy. It’s a shame your work environment is such, that it’s easier to fix other people’s incompetence because it’s less hassle than them doing their job properly :(2 It shouldn’t be so, but I hear you about it being less stressful for you.

We’re not going to WF now, a combination of not having time, and also I think I’d be pushing my luck after just getting Bella:P2 seriously though, I’m not sure I want a bangle now. I’m putting it on the back burner for a while and maybe think about it in the future.

Yes @Tekate Adam said it’s ‘cooled down’ to about 90 deg s there at the moment, which is still plenty hot for us  How’re you feeling, hopefully better with each passing day. I have done yoga in the past, but I prefer Pilates, I do feel it’s doing some good.

I hope your internet gets back on soon @junebug17 I do wonder what we did before we had it :eek-2: We rely on it so much these days, don’t we?

Adam said the forecast is for thunderstorms during our stay, I hope not, we have a long drive to our friends, and were hoping to get out with our other friends when they visit. I’m glad Mr PB is recovering from his mauling, bad doggie, I wonder if he’d been beaten or abused by a man in the past.

I’m sorry your work situation is so dire, it’s just so unfair for you and your colleagues to be put in this situation.

Hope you’re having a lovely anniversary @canuk-gal and Mr CG comes back with your Mickey Mouse pearls

I hope everything is ok with you @missy .

House painting is all finished, and he’s done a really good job.

Been and had my hair cut and coloured, had quite a big chop this time, but I like it.

Yay, nearly the weekend

:wavey:

HI:

PB--MM stand for Mikimoto. I am sure that is not an official acronym!

Speaking of MM--I didn't get any pearls or even Mickey Mouse stuff from an airport shop. I am not worried or upset. After 33 years of marriage--I get it!:lol-2:

We enjoyed a long bike ride today in gorgeous warm conditions--despite the smoke from lingering forest fires.

Austina--your hair looks great!

This is what I got my DH for our anniversary. Washed it down with some champagne.

cheers--Sharon

Hi NiRDI’s!

PierreBear, I hope the relay race didn’t get rained out. Good luck with the in-laws visit. Do they live close? It sounds like it would be a difficult decision for you to leave your job even though ti’s not the best working conditions for you and your coworkers. I get it’s hard to leave people behind in such an unpleasant situation. My last job was a small family owned business; the boss was bipolar so either very pleasant or very nasty; his wife was an alcoholic and usually out of line if she was in the office. It always made for interesting times. Glad to hear your DH didn’t need stitches. The biggest reason I am trying this approach at work is I am worn out of the struggles; I can mention to my employees in our one on ones - hey I fixed this for you and if it gets too out of hand I’ll try something different.

Junebug, no internet? That’s roughing it girl. I hope they get it fixed SOON. I think my boss is a big part of the discontent on all of his teams. He has favorites than can do no wrong and the rest of his employees are worthless. He can’t stand negative people and he is one of the most negative person I know. He doesn’t train people - he is a firm believer in sink or swim; just give them the basics and let them figure it out. Then if they aren’t great at it or miss things they are incompetent. He honestly treats me pretty well but I think that is because he knows they team would really struggle without those million little details stuffed in the corners of my mind. I figure this is worth a shot. I am no longer going to conform to their woe is me attitude.

Tekate, we do like our Apple products. It sounds like you are very happy with your computers and phones as well. They all accomplish what we want, eh? Marty wanted to get my started with a Mac because he was tired of fixing my Windows problems. He was the IT and network manager at work and was tired of dealing with things at work and at home. Then he decided he liked my Mac and bought one for himself.

Austina, I am hoping smiles and positivity at work catches on; it is worth a try and far less stressful to me right now. I understand making the WF trip after buying Bella might be too tempting. I want to go there sometime. I love bangles but they drive me utterly crazy clanging on things. I wear my 4 carat diamond bracelet most of the time but take it off at home because I worry about it scratching my laptop. I wear that heart charm bracelet quite a bit too but it’s too big for me yet I don’t want to turn it in to have them remove a few links. Your house looks great and your hair cut looks fabulous.

Sharon, I have never heard of ugly bread before but it looks and sounds good. Especially washing it down with champagne. That sounds like a perfect gift. We’ve been married 27 years and don’t get each other presents; just little things.

I was pretty thrilled when 4:58 pm rolled around today. I was out of there like I was driving a fast sports car. Vroom. I heated up a piece of pizza for supper, Marty had some pork loin left from lunch so we ate raw veggies while our suppers warmed up. We are watching Blazing Saddles; they sure are bleeping out a lot of things. Madeline Kahn is so funny in that movie. i might see if Marty would eat lasagna this weekend; it sure sounds good to me. I need to make some cookies for a bake sale at work Monday. I think I’ll make peanut butter.
Speaking of bracelets; I didn’t wear a bracelet or pendant today and freaked out a bit every time I looked in the mirror and didn’t see something hanging around my neck. I wear my CBI pendant most of the time.

Have a fabulous weekend.
Marcy

Good morning girls! Happy Caturday Saturday!
Speaking of kitties Fred so far checked out OK and just waiting on blood results. I know he is in good (thank you dear sister!) hands and just hoping the bloodwork is OK. Thanks for all your good wishes!

@junebug17 hope your internet is back soon and I agree posting from the phone is too difficult. I do it occasionally on bike breaks when I do not have time before we start cycling but hardly ever for the NIRDI thread since my replies are overly lengthy here lol. Only quick replies on the phone. Hope you have a good weekend in store and (((hugs))).

@marcy oh yes please buy the pink sapphire earrings. They will look beautiful on you. Pinkalicious and purrrrrfectly pleasing. And yes no longer conforming to your coworkers woe is me attitude is the best way to go. Cattitude is A OK (just ask HRH) but attitude is boo...:P2 And if you don't play they cannot get satisfaction or positive reinforcement from their poor professional behavior. Hope your weekend is work free and full of fun. And WTH was up with your friends visiting Manhattan but not the Diamond Distict? Poor misguided souls... Oh well, more diamonds for us!

@Tekate glad you are feeling better and sending you more healing hugs and good thoughts and thanks for your concern. I won't know anything about this possible new disease for months til I go for genetic testing and I am just taking things one day at a time...feeling OK in body and strong of mind. Cannot get us down girl we are NIRDI women hear us roar! (((Hugs))).

@Sandeek how did your first week go? How are you feeling? I hope being back at work was good and satisfying and that you feel appreciated and loved there as you are here. And I hope your treatments are going well and happy you are almost finished with the hyperbaric time consuming treatments but they sound very worthwhile. Sending you lots of (((hugs))) and good thoughts. XO.

@Austina love your sassy new do! It suits you. Sophisticated sassy and soooooo sweet. LOVE it. Wish I could go short but when I go bald I'm going long. And I have the backups when/if I need them. I am prepared. But you look fabulous with your new hairdo. Love the paint job on your house too. Nicely done. Safe travels and stay cool girl. Hoping the heatwave breaks for you before you arrive in Texas. It has broken here and it is in the 60s now LOL. Was 95 less than 2 days ago.

95degrees.jpg.png

@PierreBear aww honey I am sorry and you already know my thoughts but want to add them here for you as well. Hang in there and hoping your work situation improves for all. And hope your dh is healing completely and quickly from that dog bite. So sad for everyone involved especially your dh and the poor dog. I am sorry it happened. (((HUGS))).

@canuk-gal yay, glad you enjoyed a lovely ride yesterday. Happy anniversary and that ugly bread looks so darn yummy omg it really does. And with champagne you cannot go wrong. Enjoy and hugs!

We arrived at the beach house early yesterday and went cycling. Wonderful and cool ride. Today looks mighty windy but we won't let that scare us away and cycling will be more of a workout but still fun. It can kick our butts haha. Off to brave the fierce winds soon (30 mph plus by the coast so not sure what we will manage but we won't give up :!:). Have a wonderful day! XOXO.

Leaving you with a photo of Bubbalah yesterday morning when we arrived to the house. I call in Bubbalah bathed in Blue. Everything was so blue when we got here yesterday. Beautifully blue.
Haha our new neighbors must think I am crazy as the wife doesn't work and she was home...I am sure she saw me taking this photo.:lol: Oh well might as well get to know the real me right? Just want to add I am loving our new neighbors so far. They are very quiet and keep to themselves. Dream neighbors so far. May everyone enjoy a dreamy and wonderful weekend.:wavey:

bubbalahbeachbackyard.jpg.png

Good morning NIRDI's! I hope all of you are having a wonderful day.

Missy, gorgeous picture of Bubbalah in blue. Too funny your neighbor saw you taking the picture. They sound like great neighbors so far. And yes it it HOT there. My friend (who I still can't believe didn't visit the diamond district) said it was very hot and humid when they were there last week. I am glad to hear Fred is doing okay; I hope the tests come back fine. Scratch him behind the ear for me. I hope it wasn't too bad cycling in the wind today.

I got up at my normal time so we could go eat at Marty's favorite breakfast burrito place. I have to admit it's the best breakfast I've had out probably since the last time we ate there. They are very popular and crazy busy when I normally get around so I thought if I get up at my normal time we can get there before 8. It worked well. We picked up a few groceries on the way home. I am making peanut butter cookies today for a bake sale at work and then tomorrow I am going to make a pan of lasagna. I'm working on laundry and I might order my pink sapphire earrings today. They need an adult signature for delivery so I'll send them to work. I doubt they'd take a signature from a bear or a Killer Rabbit.

Take care.
Marcy

Hello lovelies

Not long got in from going to see Mission Impossible: Fallout, a lot of Impossible hooey, but entertaining enough. I just can’t take Tom Cruise seriously as an action hero :cool2:

I got a pizza all ready so I just had to switch on the oven as we walked in. Dottie was starving, and ran straight to her bowl

@missy I’m so glad Fred is ok, I was worried yesterday when you didn’t check in, in case you’d had bad news. Just crazy weather there, what a drop in temperatures in the course of 2 days. I’m so glad your new neighbours are quiet, it makes all the difference. To her seeing you taking pictures of Bubbalah, she was probably dazzled by the rainbow flashes.

I hope the pink sapphire earrings are fabulous @marcy and live up to expectation. Nice treat going out to breakfast today, but boo to not getting a lay in :D

Busy weekend, lots to do, I haven’t packed yet

Have a great one! :wavey:

Austina, we haven't made it out to see the new Mission Impossible so I may as well wait until I can rent it on TV. But popcorn sounds GREAT!! Good plan having pizza ready to bake when you got home. Dottie was anxiously waiting for her supper. I plan on totally sleeping in tomorrow. Ha! I honestly feel bad if I sleep too much. Good luck getting everything done and of course packing is important.

I got the PB cookies baked; naturally we tested them. I used my medium cookie scope and they burned out big so I only got 30 cookies; but I packed them up 2 per baggie and put a $1.00 sticker on them so they should be good to go Monday (hopefully I remember to pull them out of the freezer.)

GM girls! Happy (big and small) dog Sunday!

@marcy hope you are sleeping in this morning. Glad the early morning breakfast place worked out well Saturday and was worth waking up early for. OMG you know PB cookies are my very favorite.:lickout: Good luck with the bake sale. Would love to buy some of them from you if we were local. I would double that price to $2. They are more than worth it. Cannot wait for you to receive the pink sapphire earrings...did you order them yet? Thanks for the Bubbalah in Blue love.

@Austina hope your packing is going smoothly. Love pizza and the smooth way you got that ready. Efficient. Got the rest of the results back from Fred's tests and all is well woohoo! So it is probably a combo orthopedic and behavioral reason he is going outside the litter box but fingers crossed as he hasn't gone outside it for the past few days now so that is hopeful. Haha yes the rainbow flashes are mesmerizing and maybe my new neighbor is a jewelry lover? Our old neighbor was and she had some big bling.

@Tekate sending you hugs and good thoughts. XO

@Sandeek Thinking of you and hoping all is going well. (((Hugs)))

@junebug17 hope your internet issues are all sorted out and you are enjoying a lovely weekend.

We enjoyed a long lovely ride yesterday. Alas no such ride is on the schedule for today. It is stormy out and I think it will be quite unsettled for the next week plus courtesy of some storms brewing in the Atlantic. It is hurricane season and it is making itself known. It is nice being here all safe and comfy and hearing the ocean roar outside. But we are deciding what to do now as we were planning to stay for the next few days at least but tomorrow I have an appointment in the city and it will be a rough ride (for me) on the ferry and despite its stabilizers when the seas are this rough I might get sea sick so now debating do we go back to NYC this afternoon or rough it out here and take the ferry round trip tomorrow to my appointment. Decisions decisions.

Have a wonderful Sunday girls.:wavey:

Leaving you with a photo of my anchor necklace...seems fitting on this Stormy Seaside Sunday.
