Now I really did it :((

June, my dd’s visa appointment was stressful, but thank goodness it is over.
I had written her a sponsorship letter [assuring the franch govt that I would support her if necessary] and that was not enough.
They gave her a half hour to get a notarized copy of my bank statement backing up the sponsorship letter. I was 15 miles from home when I heard, so my bank had to email the embassy my account balance.
Now I have lost my privacy, both to strangers and to my dd, who did not know any details of my financial situation before seeing the letter. I was furious with the banker, who could have sent, say, the balance in my IRA, but instead revealed everything. Water over the bridge now, and I certainly hope she gets her visa!

I spoke too fast. Dear Fred urinated outside the litter box this morning. Poor sweetheart.

@Jimmianne hope your DDs visa comes through. Fingers crossed.

Hi everyone, internet is up and running again -

Missy, I'm sorry about Fred - it's good to hear his blood tests were normal but it's too bad he regressed after doing well for a few days, and I hope he starts doing better with the litter box. It's good to hear you're feeling ok and I hope you figured out the best way to handle getting to your doctor's appointment. This weather is not making things easy, that's for sure. I love that pic of Bubbalah! Gorgeous . I'm so happy your neighbors are turning out to be quiet and keep to themselves, my favorite kind of neighbor :D

@Tekate, oh no, I hate hearing that going out to eat ended on such a bad note :(2 I hope you're doing ok and having a good weekend.

Austina, your hair looks fabulous! And the house looks great, you have such a pretty home. I hear you on holding off on the bangle until you feel that you really want it - and I'll bet Bella has filled your bling desires, for now anyway! :P2 Good luck getting ready for your trip.

@canuk-gal, Happy Anniversary! That bread is anything but ugly, sounds and looks so good, especially paired with champagne, yum. So nice that you're enjoying some mild September weather, I hope it continues for you for a while.

PierreBear, I hope your work function and visit with your in-laws went well! I saw your comments to Sharon about your job and I get that it's a complicated situation with many things to consider. Sending lots of good thoughts that the low morale doesn't weigh on you too much.

Marcy, omigosh, , you probably have some stories to tell about your previous job! I can understand why you want to try a new approach and it sounds like it's lessening your stress levels at work. I'm glad to read that your boss appreciates you, as well he should! I'm also glad you're wearing your gorgeous bracelet a lot. Nice that you and Marty had breakfast out, sounds good. I hope you ordered your earrings, can't wait to see pics!

Jimmianne, ugh, I'm sorry the bank made such a foolish mistake, I wouldn't be too thrilled either - but as you said, what's done is done so I hope you can push it out of your mind and not let it bother you too much. Fingers crossed things go smoothly from here on out and dd gets her visa.

Dh and I went to our friend's daughter's college graduation party yesterday and we had a nice time - saw some people we hadn't seen in a while and it was good to catch up with everyone. Not much planned for today, it's raining here so we'll probably just stay in.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Ah, Missy, sorry about Fred. Sending him, and you, good dust.

Hello lovelies

Ugh @Jimmianne how intrusive and annoying for you. :angryfire:Wouldn’t her future husband have to be the one who guarantees her financial solvency, or am I just old fashioned? Let’s hope there are no more problems with her visa after all this.

Oh no @missy, is it possible Fred is becoming forgetful and doesn’t remember where the litter box is? I know when our dogs got old, they were at times vague, and had moments of what I can only describe as, blankness. I hate when they get old :(2

Oooo, I love your anchor pendant, very nautical.

Thanks @junebug17 we’re really happy with the house painting, the warmer colour is making the wood pop and we think, giving the house a fresher look. Glad you caught up with friends at the graduation party.

Hope you manage a little lay in today @marcy . Yum to your cookies :lickout: I’m sure they’ll go down a storm at the sale, they sound bargainacious :D Honestly, if we didn’t both have free tickets, I wouldn’t have paid to see MI :P2

We’re in the US on Wednesday @Sandeek , busy getting everything sorted!
Hope you’re doing Ok.

Hi @Tekate Hope you’re doing better.

Had a busy day, been doing laundry, polishing the kitchen floor, changing the bed, sorting out my clothes, still things to do. It never ends

:wavey:

Austina, because dd’s fiance is a student, his family would have to sponsor her.
The nice thing is, once she gets her visa it helps me get mine. So it’s all sort of circular : )
Gosh, how is it that we EXACTLY switch countries at the same time!!?
Good you are getting in the day before the potential landfall of Florence. Hope you have a bon voyage!

Thanks for explaining @Jimmianne I didn’t realise DDs fiancé is a student. I keep forgetting I was nearly a baby myself when Adam was born

We will be in a similar situation, Adam has to become a citizen before we can apply for a visa, as he’s the only way we can get one (assuming the law doesn’t change).

Yep, we too are hoping it’ll be calm over the Atlantic, bumping around at 30,000 ft isn’t much fun, is it? Safe travels to you too. xxx

JA--will you sell your property in the USA? Do you plan to live in France permanently?

Hi NiRDI’s. Happy National Teddy Bear Day!

Missy, I did sleep in until 7. It was nice. I can see why PB cookies are your favorite; I can’t even remember the last time I made them. Seems like I was going to make them about a year ago and Marty talked me in to making oatmeal cookies (more healthy). I think I’ll order my earrings tonight. I had to check with Marty because I thought if I paid for them with PayPal they had to be delivered to our house. He said I could send them to work so I’ll get them ordered. How could I not love Bubbalah in blue picture? A gorgeous diamond and my favorite color - it’s a win win. I am so glad to hear Fred’s tests came back okay, sorry he went outside though. I like your anchor necklace; it is perfect for this time of stormy seas. Those storms are lined up across the Atlantic Ocean. I hope you don’t have to take a rough ride back for your appointment.

Jimmianne, I am glad your DD got her Visa okay. Darn that you had to give proof you can support her. Sorry your banker just laid it all out there. That kind of reminds me of a time I accidentally laid out Marty’s info that I handed over to my parents by accident. My parents didn’t have a printer so if they wanted something printed I would print it for them and drop it off at their house. When Marty was considering his current job we had done a comparison sheet including pay, benefits, profit sharing, etc. and that sheet was in their stack of papers. My parents returned the paper to me in a sealed envelope but I swear my dad was nicer to Marty after that. It’s not like Marty makes a ton of money but I am sure it was more than my dad ever made. Before they saw that sheet my dad kept telling me Marty should stay where he was and then all of a sudden he thought the new job sounded like a great idea! I hope Florence doesn’t hamper your flight this week.

Junebug, welcome back to the internet. It sure is strange to be without it. The place we used to hold our star party had absolutely no cellular service; it was strange and yet nice. My old job was something. It was a photo finishing, professional photography and camera store. I saw him knock over entire racks of film, through things on the floor and one time used his arm and wiped off all sorts of cameras and lenses off a desk. His temper was bad. I generally got along with him but he could be a vindictive jerk and if he knew he could intimidate you look out. Like in PB’s situation in small businesses you don’t have anywhere to go for help. People who reported him to the labor board were always told a privately owned business pretty much could do whatever they wanted. I think my new method may rub my boss the wrong way but I am just worn out of dealing with his glass half empty view of the world. I am always willing to try something new and while he and I don’t always agree we generally get along. I think I’ll order my earrings tonight. I’ll definitely post pictures. Is your beach house in the possible area of Hurricane Florence?

Austina, you and Jimmianne’s discussion about her DD’s fiancé should be insuring her financial solvency made me remember Marty and I were always teasing each other “I thought you had money”. If only all of us could just win the lottery. That’s nice you get so many free movie tickets. Anymore a movie and snacks costs at least as much as going out for dinner. We usually just watch movies on demand; I make better popcorn and I can rent all the movies I want for free. You’ll be in the states before you know it. Sweet. I’ll be worried about both you and Jimmianne flying over those storms in the Atlantic.

Hi Sharon.

I spent most of my day either in the kitchen or working on my program about an infrared telescope orbiting the Earth. The lasagna was delicious, Marty ate an entire row of the pan, I was surprised since it’s evil pasta. We had garlic bread and raw veggies with it. I used some more of the French bread to make a grilled cheese and Canadian bacon sandwich for supper. I cut up my second to last peach; I’ll be sad when they are gone.
Here are pictures of my leftovers and PB cookies.

Take care.
Marcy

Earrings ordered; expected delivery Thursday. :appl:

GM girls! Happy Monday! Reporting from Brooklyn USA :sun: where it is stormy and cool. Easy trip back yesterday except for a short delay due to a car accident that must have happened shortly before we got on the highway. What a mess and thankfully no one was hurt. But it was messy and caused quite the backup.

@junebug17 glad your internet is working and sounds like you had a lovely weekend. Nice that you enjoyed your friend's daughter's graduation party and glad you stayed warm and snug inside yesterday. The seas were stormy and the waves high but we had a fire going and it was so cozy inside. We really love the beach. But I have to say it's pretty nice being back here too. Have a good Monday Junie and hugs to you and Zoe. Thanks for all the Bubbalah love.

@marcy you're killing me girlfriend. Those cookies and that lasagna looks so yummy. :lickout: I need to wait till later next time to open this thread haha. Way too early to start craving lasagna and PB cookies.:P2 Glad you got to sleep in till 7AM yesterday. That is sweet. Speaking of sweet darling Fred is laying next to me in bed right now. What a sweetheart. He cannot jump anymore but when he comes into the bedroom in the mornings and stands by the bed that is his signal for us to pick him up and place him on the bed. Tommy just joined us.

fredandtommy.jpg

All that is missing are the teddy bears and you Marcy. Cmon over... (killer bunnies not invited ). Thank you for the Bubbalah love.

Woohoo on ordering the pink sapphire earrings! So excited for you and cannot wait for us, ummm I mean you :oops2:, to receive them Marcy.:halo: They're gonna be gorgeous. Cmon Thursday.

@Jimmianne safe travels to you sweet Jimmianne.

@Austina hope the packing went well and in another 2 days you will be in the USA. Hopefully the weather will allow for calm travels and a pleasant trip. If you feel like taking a quick ride to Brooklyn or New Jersey let us know..you are invited! How long will you be here this trip?

@Sandeek hope you have a good Monday and hope everything goes smoothly for you. Are you getting near the end of your hyperbaric treatments? Sending you more (((hugs))) and healing vibes.

@Tekate thinking of you sweet girl and hoping your weekend went well and that you are feeling stronger and better each day. (((Hugs))).

@canuk-gal hello there, hope you enjoyed a lovely weekend and have a good week ahead.

Off to another doctor this AM. This time completely unrelated to my main health issues...it's for a growth in my index finger that has been accelerating over the past 6 months and I have been putting it off because of all the other doctor visits but it is now at a point I cannot ignore it any more. Greg put his foot down which he rarely ever does and said we must have it evaluated. My Dermatologist David decided months ago since it is now growing so fast I must see this specialist. I have had it for a couple of years and it never bothered me before but over the past number of months has started growing faster and invading my nail bed. I am hoping that this is something not challenging to diagnose nor difficult to treat. Fingers (haha fingers) crossed!

Have a lovely Monday ladies.:wavey:

Marcy, thank you for the cookies and the lasagna...delicious!
Funny about your *I thought YOU had $* goof with Marty.
Yay for the earrings!!!
Here are my two boys, Roscoe and Glen...A06EABD2-F1C6-466F-975E-FFFE875C3E4F.jpeg

Missy, best of luck today at the doctor.
I like that Fred has you trained!
Have you ever seen “Lisette/LMontreal” pants?? I got a pair for my trip and they are my latest version of tights for “tights and tunic”. Excellent fit and very comfortable, beautiful fabrics. My new “go to”, I think they would look great on you.

It is actually what I would call cold here. After temps above 90 for the whole summer it feels great, but I know it is due to the incoming weather.
I think Austina, her DH and I will be fine. The flights are “up and over” and the storms are down-under. Bon voyage again, Austina!

Sharon, thanks for asking. I just keep watching the process. I have horses, multiple dogs and people who have lived on the farm for years, so it’s a big transition not only for me. In my heart I am ready for less responsibility, but I don’t know quite how to let go. I keep reminding myself that winters in France are not very glamorous, so it is OK to be in two places. But it’s pretty overwhelming. I have not been able to keep a garden going in either place and spend a lot of time catching up with maintenance in both places, and because others live in my houses when I am away, I get a little more behind in keeping both super clean the way I like each time.
It’s a hoot to be in France, but I wonder what it would be like to live out my life in another culture where I will always be a visitor to the natives.
[that’s the long answer for “I don’t know what I’m doing”!]
I have two expat friends there...one is 75 and the other is 84 and they JUST moved there from Australia. So. Guess I have a few years to decide. But if all the NIRDIs would come with me, I would move there today. Deal???

Hahaha yes he does Jimmianne. You are so right. We are well trained hoomans.

I have never heard of Lisette/Montreal pants...off to google...thank you for the recommendations! I love new outfit suggestions and am excited now to see what they are. Have I mentioned I miss you?

And thank for you for the good luck wishes. I am nervous but hoping for once something is straightforward and not challenging to treat. It is cold here too and I have to figure out rain coat or heavier jacket. I think the heavier jacket is going to win out. Brrrrrr. It's like Mother Nature turned a switch.

See you later.:wavey:

@missy alive and kicking my dear! that's me.. now to this growth on your finger, you will let us know what it is? I'm sort of surprised a derm him/herself can't handle it as they remove moles etc. He/she must think it's involved with some vessels and perhaps wants a hand surgeon to work on it, bumps, dry skin, age, sagging, dry hair, dry everything, part of being a boomer! albeit you are a young one.. sending you good vibes today girl, I like your derm, extra careful. ❤️ u

@marcy okay, that lasagna, I'm there I am THERE.. I love lasagna, my mom and dad were NOT big EYEtalian food fans, meat and taters in my house, but I loved Italian food and lasagna, any kind, veggie, bechamel sauce, different cheeses and good old American Italian lasagna is my fav. Primo job and the lasagna and cookie! my cookies often just go flat! have a great week! Cannot wait to see the earring Marcy.. I love sapphires.!!!

@Jimmianne all is good with the wedding planning and your daughter? I gotta read back 'cause I started with Marcy's post. I have seen the Lisette pants, they are gorgeous! ❤️ to you and fam. Pix of France please!

@Austina when are you sending me Bella!!! I need BELLA! ;-) seriously have a great week, hope everything is going well and good with you... Viva la France!!! I'll visit! ;-)

@junebug17 Glad you got your internet back.. we just ordered a house generator because the few times we have been out of electricity it get's annoying, altho often when one is out of elec. the internet is down, but I like heat and I love my A/C.. we have zero clue when it is being put in because the guy who contracted with can't find help.. Such a good problem to have I suppose, but also means lost business.... the good and the bad..

So, I'm getting a cleaning lady/service, I about fell over with the price, everything in Austin is much cheaper than the east coast, my house in Atown was 3200 square feet, 4 beds, 3 full baths and one 1/2 bath every two weeks cost me 120.00$ and I overpaid her, my friend who lives in a much poshier area of Austin (CAT Mountain area, it's beautiful) has a 2700 sq ft ranch and she pays 100.00$ every two weeks today, this woman comes in and says 165.00$ per week!!! now my house is like 2300 square feet (okay no basement cleaning as who goes down there?? not me).. or 200$ for once a month, we took the once a month for now because jeez louise we are RETIRED and while we are secure we are living on savings and some SSA.. (okay I get two small sh--- pensions equaling like 5K total a year and hubster get's zero pensions).. we have been lucky that the stock market has done well and we are doing fine. Competition is not fierce here in Maine because it's rural, and not high tech at all AT ALL! so I bet dollars to donuts I will go to the 165.00$ per 2wks but dang, this lady does at least 10 houses in the 'hood so she's good, she says she always brings in a crew of 5 cleaners and brings her own cleaning stuff, to be honest I'd rather buy the stuff and she cut her price but she works the way she works.. Me I'm tired of trying to beat the dust and DOG HAIR !!! help help! I would like to than the powers that be for SWIFFERS! they are good, and I got this cool vacuum thingy that is GREAT for animal hair. I'll post a pix after I find one and upload it to upload here.

Oh man I never shut up.. so anyway @Sandeek have a great week dear girl..

have a supersonic groovy fun week and peace to you all ...

Kate

this is the electric dustpan I got, I first saw one at my previous hair cutter lady when I first moved to Maine (she sucked) it's really fun and I don't have to throw away the swiffer sheet after one run! (2) anyway.. I love the thing, even the GREAT and ALL POWERFUL John, my hubster likes it, now that is something! xo

Hi @Tekate! I’m well thank you for asking. Yes I agree about why didn’t David (my derm) know what this was and treat it? Back from the derm specialist (who’s not a hand specialist) and when he first examined it he thought it was a myxoid cyst and he stuck a needle in it and sure enough this gel like fluid came out when he squeezed it. He couldn’t get it all out however and he said it might (probably) would swell with fluid again but he agreed with my non surgical approach. He said if I wanted it removed I’d have to see a hand specialist as it’s a complicated surgery on the hand so I passed. And as needed I can go see him and get it drained. It was gross and hurt but all in all a relief that’s all it is. If it didn’t have that gel like fluid inside he was planning on biopsying it it since it did it’s benign and doesn’t need to be biopsied. Relief that at least something I have was easily diagnosed and if not curable treatable. Whew.

Now onto you dear girl. Glad you’re feeling better and doing well. We baby boomers are tough. Especially those of us from NYC. You may not be a Brooklyn gal but close enough. And I dub thee an honorary brooklynite anyway. A nice place to visit a great place to live.

So glad you hired a cleaning service. Totally worth it. And yes sticker shock here too. Won’t scare anyone with the price we pay but it’s expensive. But worth it for sure. Love that electric dustpan so cool. And kitty’s expression priceless.

Ooh yes so I went shopping in my closet this am and found the cutest dress I forgot about. Taking a pic of it now to share with you cause it’s imo adorable. Excuse the bandage where the derm did the needle drainage. Lovely. :/

It’s boot weather finally woohoo.

HI:

Missy you look adorable!! Glad the Doc was able to get rid of the goo on your finger--hopefully it will stay away.

I love that brand JA! I have some pants--but they don't have pockets and I need pockets!! Their Bermuda shorts are great! Despite the fact they are pull ups :P2 they a re stylish with cute patterns so I wear them.

I need to renew my gym pass--I am getting lazy. My DH plans to go for a work out today but I need to pick up my lights. (see, I easily made an excuse!)

Hello all NIRDI's--hope everyone is feeling well and on the mend!:wavey:

cheers--Sharon

Hello lovelies

:D@marcy, Colin always says it was love at first sight - of his bank balance! That’s not true of course, because pro rata, I had more savings that he did when we met.

:lickout: your lasagne looks delicious and so do the cookies, how did the sale go today? Woohoo, can’t wait to see your new earrings on a Thursday.

Important work picking up lights @canuk-gal , I think anything that involves lifting is technically exercise, right? :cool2:

Glad to hear you’re alive and kicking @Tekate, always a bonus compared to the alternative :D Yikes to the cost of the cleaning lady, I’m trying to remember how much Adam pays, I know it’s a lot. I’ve told him that for that much, I’ll do it

Love the electric dustpan, fortunately, Dottie doesn’t shed, but ‘stuff’ clings to her coat, which then ends up in the floor.

Your dress is lovely, but then you’d look great in a garbage sack @missy, it looks fab with your boots.

Ugh to another issue, hopefully now it’s been drained it’ll be ok. I’ve got a carbuncle developing on my hand, fortunately it’s quite small at the moment, but oy :eek2:

I had another free cinema ticket, so we went to see American Animals, based on true events. Not sure what I think, I didn’t like all the gratuitous swearing, and they were a complete bunch of morons!

We’ll drop Dottie off tomorrow morning, then come back and finish the cleaning. I still haven’t packed yet :-o

Big wave out to all the NIRDIs :wavey:

Hi ladies!
I Hope everyone has prepared well and remains safe from this hurricane coming. In the Northeast it’s been rainy and cold. Yuck! Crazy weather shifts lately.
I have just finished my 20th hyperbaric treatment out of 30. Then we reassess. It’s going well except for the loss of distance eyesight. My school year has started out quite nicely. I think it will be a good year. Looking forward to finishing the HBOT and having some more me time!

@missy Ouch for your poor finger. The fingers can be so painful with all of the nerves in there. Hopefully it feels ok tonight! And love your dress! You’re adorable! I’m so happy to have boot season back too. Crazy how we went from AC to heat! My DS and his fiancé are planning their engagement party to be held in Williamsburg on the water! Such a beautiful view of the Manhattan skyline!

@Tekate Yay for you to get a cleaning service! We have tossed the idea around, but it seems that I am a glutton for punishment. Would love to hear how it works out for you. How are you feeling? Are you tolerating the antibiotics well? I had blood drawn the other day and see my infectious disease dr next week. Hoping these antibiotics are effective for us both! Be well!

@marcy Yummy to your lasagna and cookies. It was making my mouth water. Kudos to you for making such delish food for your hubby. SInce the kids are gone, we keep it simple. I miss those good meals. Haha. Hope your teddy bears had a nice day! What earrings have you ordered? I just bought a pair of bezel set yellow gold studs.

@Austina Have a safe flight over. Enjoy your son while you’re here. I hope Dottie doesn’t miss you too badly. Love your haircut too! So sassy and classy!

@Jimmianne I hope all was well when you arrive in France. Enjoy your time there and I’m do hope all the visa work is complete. Have fun!

Hi @canuk-gal and @junebug17
I better get off this iPad since I have so much homework to do! Night all. :kiss2:

Hi NIRDI’s!

Missy, glad you made it home okay and that’s good to hear no one was hurt in that accident. Awe that is a sweet picture of your kitties. I am glad Fred gets a little help to come snuggle with you and Greg. Ignore my food pictures first thing in the morning. Never mind. I am anxious to see those earrings. That is great news the doctor was able to just drain your finger. I hope you don’t hurt too much from it. That is a very cute dress; how fun to find a great new dress to wear in your closet. Great boots too and as always you look beautiful.

Jimmianne, Roscoe and Glen are adorable. I am glad you enjoyed my weekend baking. I am definitely looking forward to me earrings showing up. Isn’t it funny how when temperatures cool off 50 - 60 degrees is cold then in March or April it’s a heat wave? That is certainly a tough call to decide whether to completely make France your permanent home. I imagine we’ll move at some time and I know I’ll have a very hard time adjusting to a new location. As long as my teddy bears are with me, I guess I’ll be fine.

Tekate, my folks always said EYEtalian too. Pretty funny. I like lasagna because one pan gives us lots of leftovers; I enjoyed another piece tonight. Come on over; I’ve got a lot left. i am a total sapphire fan too; I like garnets too but I always reach for my sapphires. I hope you get your generator installed soon. Our 5th wheeler had a generator; it sure came in handy at times. I am glad you are hiring a cleaning service. My former cleaning ladies did a great job but I had trouble with them showing up late or at all. I paid them $100 each time and they took between 3 to 4 hours. Our main floor is 2100 sq ft with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a den plus other stuff. Our basement has about 1600 sq feet finished with a large office, man cave and kitchenette. The new gal cleans in 2 hours and I pay her $110. They come every 2 weeks. The new gal reminds me of cleaning as a kid - you do the surface stuff and rush through it so you can go out and play. I have to ask her all the time to remember to clean something. It’s still better than me doing it myself. Swiffers are great. Very cool electric dust pan and cute kitty.

Sharon, I am with you on pockets; they come in handy.

Austina, it sounds like Colin and Marty would get along well; they both like to tease us ladies. The bake sale appeared to go well. I didn’t get to work until almost 9 so I was able to get some of my PB cookies in 3 of the break rooms. By noon the table on my floor was probably half gone and was down to about a 1/3 left at 5. I am guessing all tables had about 100 items on them ranging from cookies, a piece of cake, lots of cupcakes, some snack things like chex mis and some small loafs of bread. They usually send out an email in a few days letting everyone know how much they earned. I am looking forward to Thursday as well. I am already planning on wearing pink that day. You are down to about 24 hours now; sweet.

Sandeek, woo hoo for being 2/3 done. Will your eyesight improve once you are finished with your treatments? That’s great school is going so well. That totally makes sense you keep meals simple now that the kids aren’t at home now. Since Marty went on his strength training regime I don’t cook as frequently as I used to; it seems pointless to cook a lot of stuff for just the 2 of us. Now it’s just a special treat on the weekend sometime. My earrings are dangles, with small PC pink sapphires with a square halo of diamonds around them. The teddy bears enjoyed their special day. Ha Ha.

I couldn’t find a reason to call in sick today so I went to work. I started my day at the eye doctor. I swear that place is so disorganized. Last month when they changed my prescription quite a bit they said to come back in a month to see how my vision was doing. So today they check my vision and tell the eye doctor I am ready for him and he says no she needs a retinal scan. They are tweaking my prescription in my new lenses and my retina scan showed my macula is starting to get the proper indentation in it. Woo hoo. Too bad that won’t fix the scar but should help my overall vision. I have no idea if I am supposed to go back for future retinal scans because he started talking about other things with his employees. My glasses from 2016 are clear as a bell so I’m wearing them now.

So much for not letting my employees get to me - I was ticked off within an hour of getting there but I mumbled a few unpleasantries to myself, laughed and went my merry way. I will not conform.

Take care.
Marcy

GM girls! It's the 17th anniversary of 9/11. An anniversary that is sad and tragic but must be remembered. All those lives lost. Senseless cruelty and disregard for life in general. I will never forget that day. It's crystal clear in my mind. Every single moment. :(

Thank you @canuk-gal. I love that dress because it has a retro feel. So many dresses and pants in my closets that I forgot about. LOL I don't have to go shopping for years if I don't want to but I want to check out and get the pants you and @Jimmianne recommended and love. There's always room for more (clothes/bling/love/animals) right?:lol:

Sharon, I hope you got the lights yesterday and don't be too hard on yourself re working out. You are in great shape and missing some working out is A OK. I am giving myself permission to do the same. Sometimes it becomes an obsession (talking about me only) and I need to dial it back. I tend to be a bit too intense re working out. I know many of you girls understand what I am talking about. Hope you had a good afternoon yesterday!

@Austina thank you. That is so lovely of you to say and right back at ya. Hope your carbuncle doesn't become a problem. My new dermatologist specialist yesterday said this was the largest Myxoid cyst he has ever seen in his whole career. LOLOL. I never want that award yanno.:knockout: It's still pretty large but he did the best he could yesterday. I am going back in 2 months (he said 4 weeks but no way I could fit that into my schedule so 8 weeks it is) and he will see if he can puncture more. I asked Greg if he thought he could do it for me and he said yes. That man is always up for a challenge. Problem is we don't have that numbing cryospray to freeze my finger beforehand to keep it from really hurting like heck during the puncture and squeeze. Hmmm wonder if that could be an Amazon item.:P2

Safe flight my dear tomorrow. Will be keeping good thoughts for your safe arrival on US ground.

@marcy that is amazing news about your macula healing and my fingers are crossed for you that continues. Glad you are still seeing well from your older glasses. Sorry that office is so disorganized but as long as you are confident in your eye doctor that's the main thing. Call him to find out when you need your next follow up scan. Sorry work was a chore yesterday because of misbehaving employees. The one thing you can count on is that you cannot count on them (for very long that is). Glad you kept your head about you. Never conform.

When work aggravates you keep thinking your new sapphire dangles will be here soon and you will feel better.:appl:

@Sandeek I am glad you are near the finish line with the Hyperbaric chamber treatments and I am keeping good thoughts for you that your vision will return to normal after you are finished with the treatments. What do your doctors say about that?

How exciting your DS and his FI are having their engagement party in Williamsburg and have a view of the Manhattan skyline. That will be gorgeous and of course how wonderful an occasion you are all celebrating. Wishing them all the best and all the happiness in the world. Your future DIL is a very lucky girl indeed. She hit the jackpot with you as her future MIL!!! And while I do not know your son I have no doubt that any son of yours is a true gem.:appl:

Have a good day today at school and I hope you are enjoying each day more and more as you settle back into the routine.

Hi @Tekate hope you had a good day yesterday and that your weather is behaving. Ours is not but as long as we all remain safe rain and the wind and stormy weather doesn't bother me. I just want everyone to stay safe and happy. Thinking of you. XO.

@junebug17 , @Jimmianne I am thinking of you ladies and hoping the storm doesn't affect you and your homes. Praying it goes away without causing damage. Everyone on the coast and beyond please be safe. Florence is a doozy.:(2

Have a wonderful Tuesday ladies!:wavey:

Watching the weather. I feel guilty for leaving before the storm, but what would I contribute anyway that the younger generation cannot provide?
I ordered weather radios for dd and young friends, so I guess that is my contribution. Still unsure whether to put horses in barn or out, even after much research.
Had a great time with my dd yesterday. She fixed up a blind date for me and then chaparoned. LOL

Fun that other NIRDIs wear that same Canadian brand of clothing. I was born less than 5 minutes from Canada, pity that. It’s a great country! And we have a certain NIRDI to prove it.
Well, here I go, 30 hours door to door...travel limbo.

@canuk-gal hi to you and hope your week is going great!

to all those who died at the WTC I again send profound sadness and profound love...such a waste of good humans, for nothing other than the mental illness of a few men.

Hi everyone! Am heading to my brother's today but I wanted to say hi real quick -

Missy, love your dress, looks great! Sorry about the cyst and the unpleasant appointment, but I'm glad it wasn't more serious. Aw, Fred is such a sweetie and so is Tommy

Austina, thinking of you and wishing you a safe and smooth trip!

Marcy, your previous employers sound like they were a handful! The guy who keeps an eye on our house said the storm isn't going to hit us? Hopefully he's right. Lol to "I thought you had money" :D Your lasagna looks amazing, it is probably my favorite food. Great news about the good eye exam, so happy you are improving and that your old glasses are working so well for you.

Jimmianne, you are probably well on your way...sending lots of love and good wishes for a safe and comfortable journey.

Tekate, it's great you hired a cleaning service, it will make life easier for you and you deserve that! That electric dustpan is VERY cool, I am going to have to get one of those.

Sharon, I'm a firm believer that breaks from exercising are good, our bodies need the rest!

Sandeek, so glad to hear the school year is starting off well for you! Good luck with the treatments and I hope you are feeling ok and managing to get a little rest during such a busy time for you. The setting for your ds's engagement party sounds really lovely!

Ok, I better head out...my poor brother had a kidney stone issue last week and was in a lot of pain but doing much better now. He has an orthopedic doctor's appointment today so I'm going to take him since he's still not 100%.

Sending good thoughts to all, hope everyone has a great day!

Hello lovelies

After a very busy day, we’re finally done and ready for the off tomorrow.

Hope you have a stress free journey @Jimmianne , 30 hrs, ugh! I thought ours was bad enough. Here’s to no holdups or delays for you. Lovely to see Mildred again :D

Keeping everything crossed that yours and @junebug17 places get through the hurricane unscathed.

I’ve heard kidney stones are excruciating @junebug17 your poor brother, I hope he’s doing better and enjoyed your visit.

Glad to hear you’re doing ok @Tekate, my carbuncle is really small at the moment, I’m just hoping it stays that way! Isn’t it a funny word, it sounds so horrid, makes me think of the wicked witch in Snow White

Two thirds of the way through @Sandeek - more behind you than yet to come. You’re coping with it all amazingly well, and what a bonus the school year has started well for you. Long may it continue.

Have a lovely time at the engagement party, did you lend your expertise in the choosing of the ring?

Wow @marcy, that’s great news about your macula, you must be so relieved it’s improving. Sounds like the bake sale was a success, I wonder how much work
was done yesterday with everyone sitting about munching ? I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, you must have the patience of a saint! Only 2 more days till your earrings arrive

We’ve got a packed schedule for this trip @missy Our friends from Phoenix are due to arrive on Thursday to stay for a few days. Their flights are dependent on their son getting them on. He’s a pilot for SouthWest, so hopefully it’ll be ok. Next Tuesday we’re going to visit our friends in Aledo, and very long boring 3 3/4 hr drive for me. Then back to Adams, and at the weekend, we’re having very special guests over for dinner - Mr & Mrs @PierreBear :D Can’t wait for PB to meet Bella, and hopefully bring her beautiful ring too, then we can get for a photo for you ladies.

I ordered a couple of pairs of casual shoes, like Skechers, which arrived today. They so comfy, and of course, were a bargain

Thanks for all the good wishes, it’s going to be a long day tomorrow, we’ll be leaving fairly early, so I’ll see you all on the other side.

:wavey:

@Austina Love the shoes and ooh yes please group photo with Bella and @PierreBear's gorgeous OEC. :appl: Sounds like the perfect trip and hope you will have a lovely time. Safe travels.

Hi again! @Tekate I am on Amoxicillin as well. Even with an allergy to penicillin, they said this was the right medication for this infection. I am glad you’re having no ill effects and you’re feeling well. We shall see how my blood work comes back! I see the ID dr next week. Happy you’re feeling well and don’t have an appt until next month. At least you have a reprieve. Praying the infection stays at bay for you.

@Austina So exciting! Have a safe trip and enjoy yourself. I believe this is a nice time of year to be in Texas. Thank you for your our new compliment, I am handling this the only way I know....fight. Hubby said he would’ve walked out when we heard what the surgery involved. I did what I had to do.
Of course I helped with the ring. Haha. DS bought his fiancé a beautiful 1.416 I colored ACA in a custom platinum setting. Here it is on my huge finger, her fingers are 4.25. Safe travels! Love the comfy shoes! I only wear comfy shoes now!

@missy Thank you for your continued warm words and caring heart. You truly are a beautiful soul. Yes, thank goodness I am nearly finished with the hyperbaric treatments. Just hoping my eyesight comes back... I hope you’re finger is feeling better. Ouch! So funny your hubby is willing to drain it, he is quite handy, but you need that numbing agent! Hoping we don’t get this hurricane up here in the tristate area. Do you prepare your beach house? Loved your new pics of Bubbalah. She is glorious! We are excited to have a wedding soon. It’s my first since we eloped. This place in Williamsburg Brooklyn is really pretty. I just Hope we have a nice day so we’ll get to enjoy the outdoor patio with that view!

Hi @junebug17 Enjoy your visit with your brother. I do hope he is feeling better. Those kidney stones can be soooo painful. Thank you for thinking of me!
@marcy Have you recieved your earrings yet? So sorry you had a trying visit with the eye dr. That can be so frustrating. It sounds like your coworkers are quite the bunch and I feel for you dealing with them.

@Jimmianne I hope you are soon landing in France safely! Enjoy.

Off to a meeting. Bye all! Have a happy! :kiss2:

ETA Holy huge picture. Sorry, I’m at work and on the phone so it will have to stay.

HI:

Safe travels and healing vibes to NIRDI's!

cheers--Sharon

@junebug17 I hope your brother is feeling better and I hope he has no more kidney stones. Those are so painful! Sending him healing vibes and hope you are having a nice visit with him.

@Sandeek aww thank you and right back at you. I feel for what you are going through and hope life is getting easier and more fun for you and having happy occasions to look forward to is wonderful and goes a long way in making things brighter. What a gorgeous ring! Your son and DIL to be (and I suspect you) did an amazing job choosing such a stunning ring. Hoping the wedding day is beautiful and remember no matter what it will be because of the happy couple and all the love. Funny you guys eloped. My dh and I eloped too.

We didn't do anything to get the beach house ready and I hope we won't regret that. We actually have hurricane stuff we can install over the windows etc but we didn't put them in place before we left Sunday. If there is a change in the weather I will be sending Greg back there to take care of that LOL. But it takes many hours to get it all in place so hoping we don't need to. Hoping everyone stays safe.

@Tekate Yes we came back Monday and it is warming up again now. Freezing the past 2 days and now I am hot again lol. Thank you for the compliment. I love clothes. Like bling. Love it too much. I am thinking of you and sending you more hugs.
