Now I really did it :((

Hi all! :kiss2:
Quick check in...
Sheesh @Tekate so sorry to hear about the allergic reaction. So far I haven’t had a reaction. Hope you’re feeling well and tolerating the new meds.
@missy Love the classic cars. That’s right in my hubby’s wheelhouse. I hope you enjoyed the beautiful weather this weekend! The ice cream looked so delish! Sorry your Francesca is not feeling well. Lucky you have your sister to help. Hoping she feels better soon! Thank you again for thinking Of me. :kiss2:
I have six more hyperbaric treatments and boy am I happy. My days will be so much less stressful. I see my infectious disease dr Wednesday so I’ll know if these treatments are working as well as the antibiotic. I can’t believe I am thinking how much I am looking forward to having this bone graft surgery. I’m tired of this hole in my mouth and the altered appearance only I see.
I Hope @Jimmianne is enjoying France, and @Austina Is having a wonderful time with your son in the states. And @marcy Stay cool and I hope you have a good week of work without any colleague drama.

Ok all, off to get ready for another long week!
Be well all! ((Hugs))

GM girls! How did Monday get here so fast? :???: Hope everyone enjoyed a fun and relaxing weekend. The last weekend of summer...:cry2:

@marcy I thought you would enjoy the photos of the classic cars we got to see this weekend. They are so cool. I would love to own one that was reliable with AC and an automatic transmission. As my dh said I always want the unicorn of everything lol. But at least I got the unicorn husband and unicorn OEC.:halo:
Your ACA studs are so beautiful and bright. I see why you love and wear them. Thanks for letting me know the new iPads are inexpensive. Maybe I should just get one. I don't love resetting all my passwords and losing info and photos though but I might just have to go for it and deal with the unpleasant set up.

Wow 93 degrees is warm. We hit 84 yesterday which was 9 degrees above average and it was warm enough. Warm enough for ice cream too which we got at Days but I did have dairy and soy free ice cream which was quite yummy. Coconut Vanilla. Yummmm. Greg had moose tracks. Real ice cream lucky duck. But the coconut vanilla was mighty tasty so do not feel sorry for me. It was yummm.

@Tekate so happy and relieved you are feeling almost all better. And what wonderful news about your nephew and niece expecting another baby! LOL yes the younger generation love to text vs calling but at least he is thinking of you and that is what counts. I admit I prefer texting in many instances as it is more convenient and forgiving of time constraints. Gotta love being able to keep in touch anywhere at any time. Does this mean you might be visiting Brooklyn soon? :appl: We are enjoying the beach house right now. It's a wonderful place to be and we are very lucky to have 2 amazing places we call home. Very grateful.

@Sandeek so good to hear from you! Glad you are doing well and woohoo on only a few hyperbaric chamber sessions left! Jumping for joy for you right now.
runaround1.gif

Keeping my fingers crossed that your infectious disease doctor appointment goes well this week and you receive happy news that your treatments are working. (((Hugs))) and healing vibes and all that good stuff. I cannot wait for you to be finished with the bone graft surgery and all well again. Hope your week is a good one especially now that you see that proverbial light at the end of the tunnel. And since your dh loves antique cars maybe next show you will feel up to joining us...:wavey: (((Hugs))).

So we are off cycling soon. Gotta get going so we can reach our 3K goal before the inclement weather sets in...we do not have much time left if winter rears her head early which she often does. And it is a work week for my dh so we have to fit cycling in between work and some rain predicted tomorrow. We will see how it goes. Have a wonderful day ladies!

Leaving you with 2 photos of the work completed so far on the feral feeding station.
The plexiglass is on, the 2 openings finished and the dormer complete. Greg has to get more wood to finish the siding.

@missy good morning Missy! first your pix of your husband are wonderful, what a happy man.. know why, YOU!.. how is your kitty? hope feeling okay.

As to my nephew, well I had planned on hitting him up for thanksgiving like last year (so was my younger son, he y e a r n s to live in the city), but I think he and his wife are planning a get away to Costa Rica or somewhere as he ex get's the older girls at Thanksgiving and Hanukkah and my niece-in-law has them at Christmas, but part of their divorce decree is they are not to celebrate Christmas (my nephews wife converted to Judaism for her wedding to her 1st husband).. but my nephew is Irish Catholic and he and his daughter are not Jewish so it's a touchy situation at times (lotsa times, but her ex is a pretty well known guy) so the big girls are there for Christmas... divorce is just so ugly and then when you get uber uber rich money and different religions, ugh.. but the ex has 3 more kids with his new wife so he is busy with the littler ones.. (new wife is a conservative Jew as is the ex-husband)...so it's always stressful in Brooklyn, BUT I do plan on going down this fall... my sons, DIL, and maybe by DIL's brother, wife and son are coming here for Thanksgiving! yay!!!! so I plan on getting into the city as I said in fall! Missy, the feral cat feeders are wonderful, Greg and you are great animal lovers, me too!! I'm so happy to see the progress.

@Sandeek what a mess Sandeek, uber super welts, I'm still a bit itchy, just like when I was 5!! hope you are feeling well girl. I the ID doctor on Thursday, my numbers were run last week and my inflammation was down to 6.6 in the normal range! everything was in the normal range, even my glucose which had been running pre diabetic 2 times previously!!!!! yahoo. I had to pregnancies and my 1st son weighed 9lbs 3oz at birth, that was a diabetic pregnancy, my 2nd son was 9lbs 12oz and it was not a diabetic pregnancy, so go figure on that! they tested me 2x in the second one... babies over 9lbs are often diabetic pregnancies. Both my parents were 10lb+ babies! My mom gave me this info because she was sure I was going to die when I was pregnant the 1st time and totally convinced in the 2nd as I was 38 when I got pregnant - IRISH mothers.. Hope your counts are good, I understand that hole in the mouth feeling that only you can see.. Are you having the bone graft to replace lost bone or to get ready for an eventual implant? nosy aren't I :)

How is everyone faring?

@Jimmianne how is your home in SC? I believe you have one, if not, my apologies! Hope it is lovely in France!

@marcy I second Sandeek's wish for a stress free work week for you.. I had a boss from hell once.. ugh.

I hope everyone has a GREAT WEEK ladies.

all love.

Good morning! Had a relaxing weekend with DH. We had lunch with friends at their home and then attended a friend’s birthday party celebrating her baby daughter turning 1. Who knew it’s the new thing to allow kids smash and eat cake. Third one I’ve seen so far… a bit fun to watch but also a bit unusual. I guess kids know when they are being watched but it seems like they know they shouldn’t be doing it?!

On a different note, I feel like a piano hustler. Emailed so many people about it and nothing yet. Getting a piano tuner to come over today so it will be ready for someone to play.

Aside from that though, I’ve been having some unusual physical issues. Not sure if they are connected. Last week, I had a severe pain in my right glute. Think it was a pinched nerve and about a day and a half, after a hot shower/ibuprofen, something must have loosened up and it went away. Not sure what caused it but maybe squats or some sort of work out. Then over the weekend, my left middle knuckle started to swell up and felt painful to close my hand into a fist. Slept over night and the hand movement is better but swelling is worse and looks a bit red. No idea what caused it. Must be inflammation but I don’t remember knocking it around. I’m hoping these are two “freak” accidents and aren’t connected. Otherwise, my mind has been jumping around and thinking I have some sort of strange internal problem going on. I sound crazy but hopefully I’ll monitor and it will go away and there isn’t anything to worry. Think my anxiety might still be high because of work etc. I’ll continue to hold on and try to stay strong! Least there will be bread to eat… we made baguettes last Wednesday. Compared the two methods and one made it taste better than the other method. Interesting to learn but maybe it’s just easier to buy at a good bakery. : ) Ya’ll enjoy your week!

@missy – Hope you had a great weekend. You always see the most beautiful and interesting animals. Hope all is well in your world.

British auto show looked like a fun time. The color of the yellow Jaguar is so fun!

@junebug17 – Hope you had a great weekend of grocery shopping and walking with your DH. It’s the routine things in life that can be so enjoyable sometime!

@Austina – I hope your jet lag is getting better. You are making the most of everything… dueling piano bar?! I think you have done more in this city than I have. Hehehe : ) May the time with Kim’s mom be rewarding and good memories were made. Yes, we get to see you soon!

@marcy – Good luck trading in your ipad and getting what you need. Will you consider selling directly on craigslist etc? Might get more for your money that way though inconvenient. I sold an old business phone (think it was one of the first iphones…). Apple wouldn’t take anything for it but via craigslist someone still wanted it for $20. Might not be worth the time but just wanted to put the option out there.

@Tekate – I wish we sold the piano already! Not quite yet but already know what sectional we will probably order. So making progress there. Congrats to your newphew on the baby!!!

@Sandeek – Good luck with your last 6 treatments. May there be relief around the corner!

Hi nirdis!

@missy, love the pics of those beautiful cars! And that ice cream looks so yummy. The feral feeder is turning out really well, Greg is doing such a fabulous job on it. Love the plexiglass, it will protect the kitties from the elements while they're eating. :kiss2: Good luck reaching your cylcing goal, you're getting close! I'm sorry Francesca is still coughing, I was hoping she'd respond to the meds, and I'm sending lots of good thoughts that she'll be able to handle the stronger steroids.

@Austina, your night out with your friends sounds like it was a lot of fun. So glad you're enjoying yourself and I hope you caught up on your sleep this weekend.

@Tekate, great news about your nephew! Happy things like this add such joy to life, don't they? I'm thrilled that your numbers are all in the normal range, even your glucose, that is just great and must be such a relief for you.

@marcy, wow, 93 degrees, that's pretty toasty! Good plan to see if they'll accept the watch as a trade, it would be great if that works out. I hope you're having a good start to your work week, and I hope things go smoothly for you this week.

@Sandeek, I'm glad you're nearing the end of your treatments, having that extra free time is going to feel great! Have a good week at school.

Looks like our area of SC (Charleston area) wasn't really affected by the hurricane that much - in fact I don't even think it rained where our house is. Looks like we might get some rain in the next day or two but nothing major. I feel so badly for those suffering from the aftermath of this storm.

Not much else going on - had a quiet weekend, finally made it grocery shopping yesterday and just did some meal prep for the week.

Wishing all the nirdis a good day! :wavey:

@PierreBear, we were posting at the same time! I'm sorry about your physical issues and I hope the hand swelling goes down soon. Strange how it just came about all of sudden. Wishing you lots of luck selling the piano, I hope you have a taker soon!

@junebug17 - Oh yes, sorry I missed your message. Glad to read through afterwards that your part of town wasn't affected by the hurricane. Whew.... I forgot that all of us NIRDI are located everywhere around the world. Glad you are safe and sound. Way to go on meal prepping!

Hello lovelies

We’ve just got back from San Marcos - huge outlet mall. I managed to miss the turn off both journeys, well, more a case of I was in the wrong lane and couldn’t exit. Anyway, we got there and back safely, and as it’s Monday, it was pretty quiet.

Didn’t actually buy much, but it was good to get out and walk.

That ice cream is TDF, vanilla and coconut, my two favourite flavours :lickout: Glad you’re able to get our cycling while the weather’s still good. It’s been a bit mixed here, but today is lovely @missy. Greg is a very clever sausage, the pussy palace is looking great :D He certainly has the legs for cycle shorts!

Yay @Sandeek only another 6 treatments, everything crossed it’s doing it’s thing and you’ll soon be able to have the graft.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet @junebug17 , it must be a huge relief that your place is ok. It’s been really awful in some parts, those poor people whose lives have been devastated. :(2

Wow, that’s some temp @marcy, positively tropical for this time of year in your part of the world. Hoping you have a stress free week at work.

Sorry to hear you’re still itchy @Tekate . Wow, you popped out a couple of bigguns there! Colin was over 10lbs when he was born, but his mother was a large lady. For my (then) size, Adam was big at 8lbs 6oz, and he had a huge head  Ouch!!

Good luck selling the piano @PierreBear hopefully it’ll find a good home soon. That’s strange about your hand - have you been gardening? I only ask because yesterday morning, Kim’s Mum picked some things and brought them in, and shortly after, Adam suffered an allergic reaction to something. We don’t know what caused it, but he became red and blotchy and felt unwell. He took a couple of anti histamine, which zonked him out, but he was ok after a while.

I spent yesterday afternoon making onion bhajis and samosas, and Adam and Kim had 6 each! Little piggies

On Saturday evening, when Kim’s mum came over, she said to Adam “hello son” and Kim rather pointedly held up her hand and said “not your son Ma, no ring” :???: Then when we went out to the restaurant, she asked Adam if our hire car was his new car, because it was good for a big family  Her family seem obsessed with them having children - we say nothing, as it’s not our business.

We’re off to visit our friends in Aledo tomorrow, long boring drive, but hey ho, it’ll be nice to see them.

:wavey:

@junebug17 thank you Junebug! sounds like you are doing well! :)

Great day today. :) just got back from an ophthalmologist appointment, I noticed last week that I had more floaters and more streaks of light in my left eye, actually funny but I at first thought my hair was falling into my left eye. BUT I have another vitreous detachment, I had one in my right eye 3 years ago. So I let it go all weekend because I knew that while vitreous tears are annoying they are not an emergency, so I waited and called the eye do and my internist and went in this afternoon and as thought, I had a vitreous tear, one has to be careful and vigilant because it an cause a retinal tear which is a huge bigly emergency.. didn't happen 3 years or so I am hoping it doesn't happen this time either.

my aged body is failing ladies..

@PierreBear sounds like osteoarthritis in your finger but I am never EVER correct, hope you are feeling better.

Hi NIRDI’s!

Sandeek, I am excited for you that the end is in sight for you. Good luck with your appointments. Thanks for the work well wishes; I will probably give my employee his write up on Wednesday; that won’t be fun.

Missy, yes classic and vintage can be expensive but they are so cool. At least they don’t have electronics which can be expensive to repair. Yes, you do have the unicorn husband and OEC. Lucky girl. It is kind of a pain setting up new iPads but it’s not too bad. I always backup my iPad or iPhone in iTunes before I buy something new. I am still leaning towards the iPad Pro. Your ice cream looks and sounds delicious. Great picture of Greg and Greg and the ice cream man. What mileage are you at now? I am rooting for you guys to hit that 3K milestone. The feral kitty feeder is looking amazing.

Tekate, sorry to hear about the impact and hassles of who to spend time with over the holidays and the differences in religion. Divorce can be ugly and difficult. Sounds like you’ll have a nice crowd for Thanksgiving. That’s awesome your test results were so good. Woo hoo! Thank you and Sandeek for wishing me a stress free work week; I kind of doubt it but I’m hanging in there. I hate to hear about your eye; I am glad you got it checked right away. Can you do you do anything to help that?

PierreBear, I would freak out letting a toddler destroy their birthday cake; probably because I am very OCD about unnecessary messes. I know people do that though. Glad you had a nice weekend. Oh no too your glute flaring up and a swollen knuckle. I hope they are just some random aches and pains and just go away. Feel better. Baguettes sound great. Thanks for the idea of trying to sell my iPad. I probably could sell my iPad on Craigs list; our neighborhood community has a FB page where we can list things to sell there as well. When i was teaching the college had a campus swap email that went out weekly to all employees; I used to sell a ton of things there including a lot of my jewelry. I miss that.

Junebug, it is warm here for Wyoming. I am sure that won’t last. I hope they’ll take the watch on trade; i need Marty to get it charged before I go in with it. i am hoping the week goes well for me too; I will remain optimistic. That’s good news your house didn’t have any wind or water damage. Some places sure got hammered. You are organized doing some meal prep; I never seem to plan ahead that much. It makes getting dinner on the table so much easier.

Austina, glad you enjoyed the large outlet mall. i often don’t find their prices aren’t that great but it’s fun to look. I am totally enjoying our lovely weather; I’ll think back to these days when I’m bundled up in a month or two. I am sure hoping this week goes well at work. One day down and 4 to go. I hate to hear Adam had a reaction to something; I am glad some meds and a nap helped him. Have a safe trip to visit your friends tomorrow.

Work was rather strange today. I couldn’t get to all the shared folders, the local intranet, the internet yet my Outlook couldn’t download new email saying I didn’t have a network connection. The IT guy kept deleting and reinstalling Microsoft Office and weird it didn’t work. Finally at 4:30 I pointed to the error message on the lower right corner and said could it be because it says I don’t have a network connection? He said he’d look in to it tomorrow. I didn’t get a lot of work done today. Like I told Missy it’s like giving myself a raise; I didn’t actually work 8 hours but got paid the same.

Take care.
Marcy

Tekate, at least we are all falling apart together! Who KNEW all the crazy things that happen to our bodies!!? I’ve had the light flashes for about four years and they have not let up. I wrongly assumed it was a one time (whoops! there it goes!) process.
But I am so glad you are feeling better.

Missy, did you ever in your wildest dreams imagine you would marry a male model???
One who could build dormers on kittly homes???
He got lucky too, big time.
Maybe the ipad set up is simple. I think it uses wifi to transfer all the info, but maybe only from another Apple device.

Marcy, can’t believe how warm it is there. The weather has gone crazy. I remember snow in August out there. I am currently reading a Jack Reacher novel set in your area and thinking of you. Not a lot of people in that state!

Sandeek, congrats on almost being done with the treatment. You are a real trooper.

in town near me.

GM girls!

@junebug17 glad your SC home was not affected and that all is well by you. Nice that you enjoyed a quiet peaceful weekend. Thank you for all your lovely warm wishes for HRH. We have her echocardiogram scheduled for next month because as you already know she needs the stronger steroids but cannot go on them till her heart is checked out and deemed A OK. Fingers crossed she will be alright. Hugs to Princess Zoe.

@marcy thank you. Yes we always back everything up but still when we switch over to new electronics something manages to get lost or go wrong. I think I have a field around me that repels technology. We are up to (I think because I didn't check yesterday) about 2750 miles....it will be tight if we make it because the weather is not cycling weather today (torrential downpours) and Greg does have work in between our cycling so our sessions of riding are shorter and we have appointments too and social engagements. LOL life is getting in the way of our cycling.:wink2: But we will do our best and we are enjoying the challenge. How did it go at the very end of your workday yesterday? Did IT fix the internet connection? Or did they keep trying to install the same program over and over? :ugeek: My goodness work efficiency at its finest.:cheeky: Glad you got a bit of a work break though and we got to catch up. And if I could I would give you the biggest raise possible. You deserve it girl.:sun:

@Tekate thank you my dear. And yay for NYC in Autumn...I am excited. :appl: Hope you are feeling well and having a good week. Lots of happy things to look forward to and you deserve all the happiness in the world. XOXO.

@Sandeek woohoo only a handful of Hyperbaric treatments left...will you be done before the month is over? I am guessing this is a shorter work week for you because of the Jewish New Year but maybe not...I know many schools don't observe it. Anyway hope your week is progressing smoothly and that you are feeling well.

@PierreBear aka the piano hustler  glad you are getting the piano tuned up and hope someone who will love and play it takes it off your hands. I used to play the piano but my sister took it and has it in her living room. I haven't played for decades. Glad you enjoyed a nice relaxing weekend with your dh. That sounds awful smashing a birthday cake and yes it just feels wrong to teach kids that is OK. Reminds me of a RHONJ episode. Anyway not judging just saying times have changed. We weren't allowed to play with our food when we were little. ::)

Please do not worry about your unusual physical issues yet. They are most likely unrelated and just see what happens as the week goes on. If they do not resolve or if they get worse then you will check it out but right now just take a wait and see approach. Most likely it will resolve itself and they are not related. The knuckle inflammation-could it be related to your cooking/baking and the repetitive motion involved in that? And your glute pain could be from doing squats for sure. Take it slower and easier and see what happens. Perhaps try a nice sea salt/epsom salt warm bath. They help aches and pains and are quite lovely and relaxing. Sending you healing vibes.

@Austina pleased you are having a lovely time in Texas. And sounds like everyone is enjoying your cooking. I am with you. Stay away from the topic of kids and marriage with your son and his girlfriend. Some people have no boundaries. You are smart. Future in laws are crossing (IMO) the line. Sorry driving there is a bit challenging but yes driving anywhere new is always that way for me. Plus we drive on the wrong side of the road here so kudos to you for navigating the roads as well as you are.:appl: Drive safely and enjoy your visit with friends today. How is Bella enjoying the trip? Are people oohing and aaahing over her beauty? :halo:

@Jimmianne Gosh I am so sorry about all the flooding and destruction and loss from the hurricane. Mother Nature can be so cruel. :cry2:
I am glad you are safe and sound. And LOL yes a male model who can build stuff and create stuff with his own 2 hands. Plus a man who wants his wife to be happy and does whatever he can to make it happen. I did get very lucky.:kiss2:

We had a wonderful cycling day Monday but today is a work day (for Greg) since the weather is not behaving. The rest of the week so far looks good. And we have plans with good friends in a few days too so looking forward to that. They are the couple whose party we couldn't attend at the beginning of this month because my other friend had her 60th party the same day though we all have friends in common. So it will be good catching up with them. Have a wonderful day ladies. (((Hugs))).

Leaving you with a few photos of us from yesterday morning during a cycling break and the sweetest frenchie named Mindy. We get to meet all the most wonderful animals during our rides.

missyandgreglongbranchsept2018.jpg.png
Greg was letting her sniff his hand though it looks like he's about to smack her I swear he wasn't lol. She is a love. OMG I hugged and kissed her hard. As one of my NIRDI friends said yesterday we are easily distracted by all the cute animals when we are cycling. Guilty as charged.8-) But I am just enjoying the moment and stopping to sniff the roses (and hug the puppies:kiss:).

frenchbulldogcycling.jpg.png

Lastly here is the view as we cycle over the bridge. Not too shabby.
highlandsbridgeview.jpg.png

Have a good Tuesday girls. And though I don't think anyone here observes the Jewish New Year wishing all a happy healthy and sweet year as today is the beginning of Yom Kippur which starts at sundown today and ends after sundown tomorrow. For all the people who observe who are reading have an easy fast and a sweet year to come for everyone.

Happy New Year, Missy.
I saw a tiny frenchie baby over the weekend and tried to get a good shot, but she was very busy looking around. Owned by a family with little girls. So cute!

Your cycling scenery is really special...or not too shabby, as you said. <3

LOVE!!!:kiss2:
Thank you @Jimmianne!

Wish I could play piano… or rather, wish DH could play piano to me every night. Ahhh the piano tech who tuned it up yesterday played so beautifully. Hand is slightly better but still swollen. But hanging in there! Hope ya’ll have a great week!

@Austina – No wasn’t gardening but good thought. I wish I could explain it. Hand is getting better though still swollen. So funny about Kim’s moms comment. Does that mean that Kim is interested in getting married etc? Lucky that she has you to pick out rings etc. I think it’s very Asian culture though to want tons of kids…. I just do what you do and say nothing. : ) Enjoy your friends in Aledo and safe travels.

@Tekate – Oh my I hope not. I’m too young for that and only use my hands for typing most of the day? Who knows… I’m taking it one day at a time and trying not to get ahead of myself. I can do that very often. Maybe the bigger problem is in my head than my hand. Hehe … Sorry about the vitreous detachment. Big hugs!

@marcy – Well first they take off all the clothes so the baby is naked with the diaper on. But it was uncomfortable to watch for me. I just learned about FB marketplace. Put the piano on there today. Good luck if you sell the ipad instead of trading it in.

@Jimmianne - Oh just watched the first Jack Reacher movie. Forget it was a book first.

@missy – Oh the tuner was amazing… played all this jazz and impromptu music. Beautiful beautiful!!!! It almost made me want to keep the piano but of course with all the lessons in the world, I wouldn’t be able to play like that. It was like my own private show and all I needed was a cocktail in my hand (except I don’t drink)…. But it felt so magical that it almost made me tear up. Thanks for the encouragement that the items are most likely unrelated. Will continue to monitor!

Good afternoon ladies!

@missy again Missy your pictures are terrific!!! hope you are having a fun filled day young lady!!! xoxo Hope you are having a blessed holiday..

@Jimmianne I AM falling apart, I think you are younger than me! are you in NC? thought you were in SC... I get confused with people who have 2 or more homes and where they are.. NC looks terrible.. Yup about those dang flashes... take care!

@PierreBear I think arthritis can appear at anytime and the reason why I thought this was because your finger is red, which could just mean about anything but if I get a flair-up of my arthritis in my hands somewhere it's always red!! Hope you are feeling better. Thank you for your kind words about the VD, nothing they can do but let it go its course and hope I don't have a retinal detachment with it, that would be a real pain the in a$$.

@junebug17 hope today has been GREAT!.

@Sandeek looking forward to reading about your last hyperbaric treatment and hope you are feeling better and not working hard!!!

@Austina so happy you are having a wonderful time in TX.. who wouldn't.. the food! the sunsets, the weather, did I say the food????? :) Aledo... long drive from Hill Country but the sights one sees in Texas are often really spectacular.. San Marcos is where both my son's went to college, Texas State University, it's a good school, not a great school but it is always improving, my younger son was sure he would be able to get into UT on the CAP program but he neglected to read his emails and missed something in the application process so he either had to go to UT SA or TX State and he felt Tx State rated better... my older son, he's smart but his college years were quite the LONG TIME.. :) both my son's liked the area and the school, only my younger son lived in San Marcos, #1 always commuted from Cedar Park or Austin from his apt. The outlet mall can be quite the place around thanksgiving time! Glad you had a good time. I didn't pop those boys out they were ripped out!! ;-) 21 hours of labor in #1 and 14 hours of labor #2, Csects both times.

@marcy well the IT guy should have known after 2x of reinstalling windows that wasn't the problem.. glad you have a good day watching the IT person try to figure it out.. I always felt that getting paid to watch the IT people was great fun! hope you are well.

Well I'm off to try on my new shorts!

xoxoxo to everyone.

Hi NIRDI’s1

Jimmianne, I just love your Asscher avatar; it makes me smile every time I see it. You remember the weather out here well. We’ll get that snow sooner rather than later. I remember that Reacher book. It sounded like Lee Child knows some things about the Laramie area. What an awful flood picture. So many areas are getting horrible flooding. Aw that is cute and yes busy puppy.

Missy, problems with electronics is another thing we have in common. I swear I can walk by something and break it. I am updating the software on my new iPad right now and it seems stuck. I may have to leave it overnight. You are getting close to your 3K goal; that is pretty exciting and amazing how many miles you’ve road already. Go Missy and Greg! IT did not get my computer back up and running until about 2:30 today. I took in my laptop today so could work on somethings but not my applications. I spent over an hour with HR about that guy I am writing up and then answered a long email from my PA whiner employee who was complaining how so and so isn’t doing such and such the way she was taught and blah blah blah. She probably didn’t like my response either. Great pictures; especially of you and Greg and that cute puppies. Happy Yom Kippur!!! It sounds like you have great plans this week including catching up with some friends. Enjoy.

PierreBear, that’s nice the guy who tuned up your piano serenaded you. I played piano for about 8 years but probably would struggle to get out chop sticks now. Both of my nieces play beautifully. I am glad your finger is doing better. Good luck with the FB page listing your piano. The local FB garage sale works well. Marty has bought and sold a few things. I didn’t trade my iPad; maybe I’ll see if Marty wants to list it and his Apple watch 2 on there.

Tekate, holy long labor girl! That does not sound fun at all. I am glad your sons liked the Texas area and schools. My niece went to Texas A&M and both live in Houston now. i did watch the IT guy work through this afternoon. This guy is pretty grouchy too but he is spread thin and I get the frustration. It ended up the Outlook file on my computer was corrupt. He finally got me back in about 2:30. Sadly all of my macros and pinned files are GONE. That will take me takes to restore. Keeps me busy anyway. Yay for new shorts!

My day at work can be summed up in one emoticon : :wall:

To reward myself for living through the day and NOT smacking anyone I decided to go get a new iPad Pro tonight. I went to our copy Apple store aka Simply Mac and first they didn't have the color I wanted, then they brought me the wrong thing and then they wouldn't take my iPad Air 2 on trade because they are between "programs". I wasn't in the mood so I asked can't you call in to a manager and get permission? Oh no we can't do that. So then I was rude and said it sounds to me like you don't care if you lose my business. From there I ventured on to Sam's Club. They too didn't have the color I wanted but I put them in a case anyway so who cares? Sams discounts the iPads a bit plus includes the 2 year apple care so I bought one. I am installing software right now. I am sure I can find someone to buy my old iPad and if not I can do one of those online sites that buy old electronics.

Marty is in Denver at a Nine Inch Nails concert. I completely forgot he was going; I need to start putting things in my calendar.

Laters,
Marcy

Nine Inch Nails concert?? They must be ancient? lol i remember freaking out when my teenage dd played me their music, it was so twisted lol (kinda like my mom thinking I would become a drug addict after listening to Dylan). How does one dress for a NIN concert these days? I want to have a mind-shot of concert Marty.

Tekate, let us just say that we are rearranging, not falling apart.
Now, doesn’t that sound better? :lol-2:

Had my first Michelin restaurant experience last night. It was fun guessing what in the heck we were eating. Almost everything they served was something I had never eaten before. Today we are driving an hour to another culinary adventure. Yay ! I am finally getting out of the house. Oh...and big YAY...my dd’s visa came!!!

GM girls!

@marcy sheesh what a day you had at work. Glad they finally fixed the issues. Yay for your new electronic purchase and yes we are similar in that way...when I walk past technology it goes haywire:confused2:. Luckily for us we have a good sense of humor in dealing with it. It is our salvation. Congrats on the ipad Pro. Sorry they didn't have rose gold or gold but I think pewter is pretty and plus you have it in the case so you don't see the color anyway. I remember agonizing over the choice of color for my iPhone and lol I never see the color I chose as it's in the case 100% of the time. And as for writing things down on the calendar yes I must do this too because I forget almost everything that I do not write down these days.

Hope today is a smoother day at work and woohoo we are halfway to the weekend already. Hope Marty enjoyed the nine inch nails concert. I remember them.8-)

@Tekate thank you for the holiday well wishes and the photo compliments. I enjoy taking photos as we cycle and sometimes I like asking people to take photos of us because before we know it the season is over and I like having little keepsakes of our cycling adventures. Please don't leave us in suspense...did the shorts fit? :sun:
Hope you are feeling good and having a wonderful week. XOXO.

@Jimmianne woohoo so pleased for you that your DD's visa came through! And perfect way to celebrate going to a Michelin star restaurant. That dessert looks scrumptious. :lickout: I enjoy fine culinary experiences. Enjoy your adventure with more of the same today.:appl:

@PierreBear glad the piano is all tuned up and ready to go. I imagine it will be bittersweet when you sell her.

@Sandeek hope you are feeling well and counting down to your last Hyperbaric chamber treatment. And I hope your week is progressing nicely. (((Hugs))).

Leaving you with progress photos of the Feral Feeder. I think it is almost complete.:appl:

Enjoy a wonderful day ladies! (((Hugs))).

Beautiful feeder and the result of many hours of studying kitty behavior. Greg should get a patent!

Beautiful feeder and the result of many hours of studying kitty behavior. Greg should get a patent!

Thanks Jimmianne and haha I can see his face now if I say that to him. He would ask me when...with all his (not) free time.
I'll pass it along and thanks.

Good morning! Just wanted to say hello. Feeling a bit thankful this morning of the small things. To have a home and to go to bed at night next to a loved one. To wake up in the morning with breath in your lungs. Hope ya’ll have a great day!

@Tekate – Yes, thanks again for bringing up arthritis. Luckily the finger wasn’t red and just the knuckle at the base of the finger. I would say my hand is 95% healed up now. Good thing as it’s baking class day again. Enjoy the new shorts. What color did you go with?

@marcy – haha DH is out of town now and he said he better hurry back or else I’ll try to marry a pianist. Wow 8 years of piano work, I’m sure if you practice it would come back like riding a bike? So glad that people haven’t given up on that hard musical skill. The tuner mentioned that the way they teach kids to play piano isn’t as exciting as guitar and if they had different piano books that didn’t gear everything towards classical music, more kids would want to play for longer. Maybe that was my case as well but I honestly couldn’t think that way. My right hand has to do something so different from my left?! Flute made more sense to me but still it didn’t come natural. Enjoy your new ipad!

@Jimmianne – Beautiful dessert! What did you think about the Michelin star restaurant? Was it worth it? DH and I have been to two so far whenever we are in the California area and always had a good time. Good thing there those type of restaurants here where I live or else I wouldn’t be able to save up for bling etc. hahaha

@missy – Nice progress on the Ferl Feeder. Will you guys paint it? Love your backyard view!

@Austina – Hope Dottie is doing well at home! Parents are away and playing!

Hiya Nirdis!

Missy, great pics of you and Greg cycling! And such a pretty view from the bridge. Here's hoping you make your goal. And Happy New Year to you, thank you for the good wishes. The feral feeder looks fantastic! Greg is doing such a fabulous job on it. Amazing pic of the sky, wow, such gorgeous colors.

Austina, glad you're having a good time , have a nice time getting together with your friends. Lol to "no ring"! I'm with you, I keep my thoughts to myself when it comes to my kids' personal lives, I figure they'll share with me when they're ready.

PierreBear, I love listening to someone play the piano too. A few years back I bought an inexpensive keyboard but ended up not doing anything with it. I had a fantasy that I'd eventually be able to play the piano solo in Tori Amos' song Cornflake Girl lol! I'm wondering if I could find some online classes, just for fun. They say it's good for old peoples' aging brains to learn something new haha. I know what you mean though, the thought of each hand doing something completely different is very daunting! I'm in awe of pianists and I wish I had musical talent. Lol to your dh's comment! I'm glad your hand is improving - I was going to throw out the possibility of tendonitis? I looked it up and it's possible to get it in a finger, but it's usually the thumb. Anyway, it's good it's going away!

@Tekate, I'm sorry about the vitreous tear and fingers crossed it doesn't turn into something more serious. I hear you on getting older, it kinda stinks sometimes. I get random aches and pains in various places all the time and my only thought is "I hope this goes away!"

@marcy, sorry about the computer issues at work, ugh. And it sounds like you have your hands full with a few of your employees this week, you must be really looking forward to Friday. But yay to getting a new ipad pro! Amazing how a little retail therapy can cheer one up lol. I hope Marty enjoyed NIN.

Jimmianne, it's heartbreaking to see the effects of the hurricane, and the loss of life is so sad. And I just saw this morning that there are islands of fire ants floating on the flood water, as if things aren't bad enough. :(2

That pup is adorable! How fun you are getting out and having some new experiences, sounds like a blast. And that dessert looks very pretty and very delicious lol. And fabulous news about dd's visa! :appl:

Ok, guess I better get moving, still need to exercise and somehow the laundry has mangaged to pile up - have a great day everyone!

Thank you MissJB-o-rama. I know this is a water picture and for folks, like you, who live in a disaster zone realm, it seems calm. But we've been there/in (major) floods. I've sent my RC donation!:wavey:

super smooches here there and eveywhere

GM girls! Just a quick note as we are in a rush this AM. Greg is an invited speaker at his law school this evening so we have a bit of a shortened day and leaving for cycling in a few minutes. I will probably be back later if I can. Update on HRH...she has a bad cold now and I am concerned...she is spitting up food and having issues breathing. I have a call in to my sister and hoping it is just a cold. Please keep Francesca in your thoughts and send her healing vibes. Thanks girls. We love her so much and it is stressful not being able to make her all better and she cannot tell us what is wrong. Poor baby. Here's a pic from the other day when we were in the car. Look at her sweet face. Precious.

@junebug17 thank you! Hope you got the laundry done and had a great workout yesterday and hope you got to go outside yesterday too. Our weather certainly is behaving and it is gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. Enjoy our last week of summer.

@canuk-gal love your sailboat photo. Beautiful. Thank you for donating to such a worthy cause and loving the big smooches. XOXO. Thanks for the kitty condo compliments. I have relayed everyone's lovely comments to Greg. Speaking of that here are the latest pics. Almost done now. What's left is framing the windows, putting in the rest of the plexiglass and painting the trim and building the actual feeder.

@Tekate how are you doing and how is your week progressing? Thinking of you. (((Hugs))).

@Sandeek anything new happening? How are you feeling? Hope work is going well and I am sending you continued healing hugs and good thoughts.

@PierreBear just the trim will be painted I believe. I am not sure what other process Greg will be doing to preserve it however. Hope your week is going well my dear and that work is more calm and not as stressful. I love that you know what is important in life and I am right there with you. Thankful for all the wonderful people in our lives and for all the love we are fortunate to enjoy. And yes for having a roof over our heads and food in our tummy. So much to be grateful for. I am also grateful for all the wonderful women in this thread.

OK I am off..have a wonderful morning and see y'all later.:wavey:

Leaving you with a photo of yummy sweet potatoes that my thoughtful dh made for me after we had a long bike ride yesterday...even though he was exhausted he cooked for me. What a darling husband.:kiss2: He knows I love my carbs haha. He also grilled brussels sprouts wild salmon and onions and mushrooms. Dinner was delicious and look at all my leftovers...anyone want to come tonight and join me in enjoying the leftovers? No one goes hungry in our household. :halo:

sweetpotatosbygreg.jpg.png

@missy yikes give me those taters! I am Irish (as I tell everyone ad nauseam) and sweet potatoes are right up my alley! enjoy. I hope DH has a great presentation and you have a wonderful day dear missy! Sending healing vibes and thoughts to your beautiful kitty..

@canuk-gal pictures to tell a thousand words.. gorgeous.. love sailing!!

@junebug17 truth about laundry.. it PILES up, I seem to do laundry as much as when my sons lived with us.. hope you are well dear lady!

everyone have a great day, I have the ID doc appt today, gotta get bagels (Rose Foods in Portland).. our weather is great. My older son, his wife, his nephew and brother-in-law and sister-in-law and little 4 year old, are all coming for Thanksgiving! with my younger son that is a fulllll house, this is a 3 bedroom house and I have a somewhat finished basement.. so now I have to get more chairs etc.. FUN! can't wait.. Now I wonder .... we always tell our sons and DIL we will pay for your flite(s).. so this year we have 3 more people who are paying their own flites, so I say to my DDDDson okay we will pay for your rental from Boston to here in Maine, I know that the brother and SIL of my son will be paying for 3 flites, they do well but are not rich, but smart (they bought a house in Austin, brand new, in an up and coming area, they wanted more land, they bought a bigger house with much more land but it was a total reno and they live there and rent out the 3 bedroom place in East Austin).. so my son rents a SUV huge, hahaha! we try to stick to 35.00$ a day, but my boy does his mom proud, he rents one for 80$ a day!!! he himself has a 2 seater, and a baby SUV... when we were at Yellowstone he also rented a big Mofo SUV, I see this pattern of Mom and Dad paying for the HUGE vehicle, but maybe not ;-)

Hi all! Quick update. Thanks so so much for caring. The blood work is all normal (yay) but I will stay on Amoxicillin. Right now I am off to lower Manhattan to see a Maxo facial reconstruction specialist. I believe they will use my fibula for the bone graft. Hyperbaric treatments will be complete Tuesday now as I have to miss my appt today. Ughhhh. I’ll probably need more after the next surgery.
Hope everyone is well! Sorry to be so brief. Be well everyone! :kiss2:
