Now I really did it :((

@missy I'm so sorry you and Greg have to go through EVEN MORE! Hopefully all will be well after this. You guys deserve a break.

I thought I had a bad morning.... my cat T has a minor bacterial infection (he is an indoor cat, where the eff is he getting these? he had one last december too?) and is on antibiotics but they make him nauseous, especially right before I give him his next dose... I woke up because I heard him vomiting so I had to get up and go clean it, by which time he vomited again so I had to clean that, then he went and had diarrhea, so I had to clean his rear fur, then it was time to give him his medicine, but I had to make sure he ate first which of course he was not feeling like. So by the time I got done with all that, I was ready to go back to sleep!

Hi NIRDI’s! Merry Christmas Eve!!

@missy I hope Greg’s surgery went well and he is doing better today. And “Wow” to the comment pain never killed anyone.

@Austina Happy Anniversary to you and Colin! That is awesome.

@Daisys and Diamonds I love getting to the grocery store bright and early; less crowded that way. Around here they have turkey breasts so that works for smaller families.

@Scandinavian Merry Christmas to you too. I am totally loving your pink halo ring. As @Austina said hoping your family has a better year in 2020.

@distracts I am sorry your kitty gets so sick from the medicine and cleaning that up does not sound fun. Wishing T a speedy recovery.

We got up and headed to Colorado. We started at our favorite kitchen store, ventured on to a couple of jewelry stores after which I decided I don’t want a tanzanite ring but I might upgrade the heart diamond I have in a RHR. I was so sure I didn’t want it I didn’t bother to get the info or GIA number but have since decided I may as well go back and look this weekend. Currently I have a 1/2 carat non certified heart RHR and the one I saw today was a .80 carat heart GIA and I think it was H or I. Not much of a bump up in size but it’s one of my favorite rings and it would be less money than the tanzanite ring I had my eye on. Of course going back that could cost me more than just a small upgrade; Marty was eyeing a watch that wasn’t in my price range.

Take care.
Marcy

Hello lovelies

I hope everything went well for Greg today @missy and that he’s comfortable and feeling ok.

Just heading off to bed after a really busy day. Kim and I spent hours preparing all the food we’re taking to her sister’s house tomorrow, and of course for our traditional English Christmas dinner today. Our improvised pigs in blankets turned out really well, so did the stuffing - after which we’re all feeling stuffed!

Kim wanted to open the presents tonight, so we did, and even though we said we weren’t buying each other presents, Colin bought me a heart diamond pendant, which is a little sparkle bomb.

I love looking in kitchen shops @marcy and can’t wait to see your new RHR.

We’ll be out all day tomorrow, so happy Christmas one and all, have a great day :wavey:

Missy, how are things today? XOXO
You guys have had a rough year and it is time for things to turn around and start being fun!

Marcy, I love heart rings. Did you decide anything?

I spent yesterday at the specialty vet about an hour from here with my DD’s big bunny, who suddenly developed a life threatening colic.
So, Mr.Bunny is going to be OK, but Aunt of Mr.Bunny is wondering if she can clean the whole house, wrap the rest of the presents and cook Christmas dinner for the noon meal in a timely fashion.
Of course, here I am on PS instead of doing any of those things.:P2
Because which is more important?!
Love to you all, and Happy Holiday!

Merry Christmas lovely ladies and dear friends. Thank you all for your warm wonderful wishes.
Thank you so much @marcy @junebug17 @Slick1 @Jimmianne @Scandinavian @Austina @canuk-gal @Daisys and Diamonds @AV_ @Mamabean @stracci2000 @PierreBear @rainwood @springerspaniel @distracts @Tekate @bling_dream19 ...wishing you all a very merry and healthy Christmas.

Yesterday went as well as it could have and the surgery took longer than expected because the surgeon was able to remove one of the stones and he broke up a few of the others but Greg still needs the lithotripsy January 3rd. From what I understand the machine costs millions and that is why no hospital owns one.

Anyway it was a very long day and they had to give Greg general anesthesia despite our wishes to the contrary. It was necessary since the surgeon went in to attempt retrieval of one of the stones at our request vs just putting in a stent as originally planned. So it was a more complicated procedure and Greg is on multiple meds now to try getting the other stones out and we shall see how it goes.

When we got home in the later afternoon yesterday Greg had a constant cough (he is still coughing now) from the tube they had to put down his throat and he is still sore so that was an unexpected complication. But like with everything we will keep on going and taking it one day at a time. And just relieved he was able to get one stone removed and now hopefully the stent that is in place will help him.

His knee replacement surgery is up in the air now as the Urologist said it all depends how he does re the remaining stones. HSS won't want to do the surgery if there is any infection whatsoever or if he is in active distress re the stones. He has some big a** stones in his kidney right now and we have no idea when they will start causing issues so they are repeating the scan in a few weeks. That complicates everything but that is life. Gotta laugh or cry so we choose laughter. Just praying Greg will be out of severe pain. He was not given any more Percocet (my goodness what is wrong with the system treating everyone as a potential addict-crazy) but given other meds (anti-cholinergic) that should help ease the pain. We will see.

@Jimmianne oh no, and thank goodness Mr Bunny will be OK. I am so sorry. Please don't tax yourself too much today. Enjoy and don't worry about cleaning.

@Slick1 hope you are continuing to feel well and enjoy a special day with family.

@Scandinavian I hope your mom is doing well and your grandmother is doing well and you enjoy a lovely holiday.

I apologize for not writing to the rest of you individually but I have read and appreciate every single post here and know you are in my thoughts and I am sending warm hugs and love your way. Hope today is a happy and loving day for you all. XOXO.

Have a wonderful Christmas lovely ladies. Love you. (((Hugs))).

Have a great day everyone!! :wavey:

Merry Christmas everyone!

@missy, glad everything went ok yesterday and Greg is home and resting, and I hope he starts feeling much better soon.

Have a great day all!

Happy Christmas lovely NIRDIs

So glad to hear that the surgery went as well as could be expected @missy, and that Greg is home. When I had my wisdom teeth out, I had a cough from the intubation tube, but plenty of fluids did help, so I hope that Greg will be comfortable. As you say, one day at a time, and you will get through this.

Hoping all the NIRDIS have a good day today, enjoy whatever you’re doing, and don’t stress the small things.

Missy my God, it never rains but it pours. Thinking of you and Greg, stones are like giving birth I have heard (from my sister and a friend). Sending love to you and Greg and healing dust.

xoxoxo

I drove Greg to the hospital. He’s in lots of pain. It might be a kidney stone but we don’t know. At emergency now. Waiting.

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to everyone. Sorry I have not been able to keep up but 2020 should slow me down. Sending love to everyone and peace and happiness and healing dust to those who need it, going to try and get a family pix and will put it up I hope anyway.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Missy I just saw your post about Greg on IG and had to come here and catch up. Glad they got the acute phase under control but wow how the stuff just keeps getting thrown at you guys :(

Merry Christmas to all the NIRDIs!

HI:

Healing vibes across the miles to @missy. Hope Greg gets well soon! I didn't want to be a DD about Gregs planned TKR but knew that if he has an active infection, no one would perform that surgery (but I didn't say anything til you mentioned it). So here is so speedy recovery and no pain!

I'll cook later but no big issue. Ham is always easy. Too bad my Mom is alone...she's never been alone on Christmas!! (she sick with flu as is my other sister...)

cheers--Sharon

@missy What odd choices the doctors and you have ,( All that procedure & still not done!

@Scandinavian Of course I remember you have quite allot of illness on your hands [despite the little pink distractions]

The day has passed so fast! Just as well that we lot keep a three day Christmas. There were calls & carols & a walk [well over 20°C! ] & starting a new paper [serious treat this!] instead of any chores [queued for next year].

Hi NIRDI’s! Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah!

@Austina what did Kim think of her earrings (or was it pendant) for Christmas? I would love to see pictures of your diamond heart pendant. I am a sucker for hearts.

@Daisys and Diamonds your cheesecake looks delicious. I hate that when the house gets too hot from baking. I hope Gary is feeling better now.

@Jimmianne great Christmas picture with good old Charlie Brown. I got lots of Snoopy things for Christmas including one a Snoopy lifting weights. I did decide to at least go back on Saturday with my heart diamond ring and compare the slightly larger diamond. It is one of my favorite RHR’s anyway so I may as invest a bit more money in it if I’ll like it more. Oh no about the Mr. Bunny scare; I am glad he is alright. I am sure you got everything ready for Christmas.

@missy I hate to hear Greg still needs surgery but that is good they took care of a few of his kidney stones. That is too bad this might delay his knee surgery but I do agree with them that they don’t want to risk infection for that. I hope Greg’s pain subsides quickly.

@Scandinavian are you having a white Christmas? It just started snowing like crazy here.

@canuk-gal I agree ham is easy; I can’t get Marty to have that for our family Christmas because he doesn’t really care for it. That is too bad your mom and sister are sick today. I hope they get better.

@AV_ lovely pictures. Oh no for starting a new paper. You didn’t quite make it to the end of the year relaxing for a change.

We’ve had a quiet and peaceful day so far. Marty woke up at 2 am; poor guy. He made us French toast, bacon and eggs for breakfast. Marty is staring a tenderloin on the grill right now and making us some rice and veggies. I will get out a few Christmas cookies for dessert.

Take care.
Marcy

Lots of Love @missy Its been pretty bad for your family last few months. I certainly hope you guys get some peace for a while.

Oops, accidentally clicked on this thread and thought I'd say Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah while I'm here!!

Missy, so sorry to read that Greg is experiencing kidney stones. My DH had them a few years ago and all I can say is . . . wow, I really feel for him and hope he gets better soon. Hang in there to you, too. It's not easy being the caretaker under those circumstances. This, too, shall pass (literally and with some help).

Missy, how is Greg feeling? How are you?

Scandi, I’m glad your Mom is having some good days. My prayer to you both for the coming treatment.

Whew! My dinner turned out fine. Roast turkey amd all the trimmings. I was sort of shocked LOL
A super fun day. Normally my DD when single has only come for an hour, but with her DH they stayed 7 hours.
After dinner I took SIL on a wild ride through the woods in my all terrain vehicle, knocking down small trees and going over logs through a very muddy forest. Eventually we got stuck and had to ditch the vehicle and walk home, he in his suit and good shoes. We had a great laugh over it. He now officially knows I’m crazy. And I know he is a good sport. While he was hanging on for dear life he kept saying « I trust you, I trust you! » haha

Can't wait to hear the NIRDI reports of the day. What was your favorite holiday memory so far?

GM lovely ladies.

@junebug17 I hope you had a lovely Christmas and that your DD is continuing to do well and that your brother is sleeping better. The Holy Basil is worth a try if he is considering it. I hope you are feeling well and that the longer days are lifting everyone's spirits. We are climbing out of the dark deep days slowly but surely. Yes the weather will be turning colder but the days are getting longer woohoo. Sending you lots of love and good wishes dear Junie.

@distracts oh no I hope your kitty is feeling and doing much better now. Thank you for taking the time to come here and share your support and good energy. I really appreciate it. Hope you had a lovely holiday filled with cheer and all that good stuff. Thank you @distracts for all your warm support this year. XO.

@Arcadian thank you for your comforting and kind wishes and love. I really appreciate it. It has been a heck of a year but like the energizer bunny (haha @marcy) we keep on ticking despite taking a licking. And all we can do is one day at a time. Praying the cats are truly RW free and that Greg will become kidney stone free and can get knee replacement surgery in January. The odds are 50/50 IMO at this point in time. I am glad you are home and safe and sound and hope your mom is doing well. You have had quite the year too IIRC and sending you lots of hugs and good wishes. May 2020 be a good year for all of us.

@ringo865 my dear, how are you doing? I am touched you came here to offer comfort and support and I want you to know I am always keeping good thoughts for you and praying your treatment went/is going well. Sending you lots of hugs and healing vibes.

@sarahb oh Sarah, what a sweet lovely person you are. Thank you for your good wishes. Hope you are enjoying a lovely holiday. XO.

@mary poppins good morning and thank you for your kind wishes and coming here to share your support. This sadly is not Greg's first time at the kidney stone rodeo. His third bout since 1988. First round in '88 and he passed that on his own at Lenox Hill hospital. Then in 2009 we went to NYU and he had to have them surgically removed and the stent the surgeon put in at that time caused him more complications and pain then the kidney stones did. Fast forward to now 2019 and BAM more stones and bigger than before. One of them is 12 mm which is pretty large. The surgeon removed the 6 mm one but there are several left so we shall get them broken up with lithotripsy as soon as the hospital gets the machine again and that is January 3rd. In the meantime Greg has another stent in his ureter and hoping he can tolerate that and isn't in too much discomfort or pain. I hope you had a wonderful holiday and again, thank you for coming here. I hope your DH never experiences another stone. They are very unpleasant as we are both well aware.

@Tekate Kate the very great. You never fail to make me feel happier and more upbeat. I hope you had the best holiday with your loved ones and I am sending lots of love your way. I hope your pain is gone and healing is complete and all is well. (((Hugs))).

@Slick1 hope your DD is home safe and sound and yes the holidays go so fast. Sending you lots of love. And hoping you get some good news from the insurance company. Fingers and toes and teeth crossed. XO.

@Scandinavian continuing to think good thoughts for your mom and send healing vibes her way. Your new setting for your gorgeous diamond is TDF pinkalicious. I hope you are over the moon happy with it and I am looking forward to the day I get to see it (and you again of course) in person. XO.

@Austina so happy you had a wonderful holiday filled with love and family and though far away from home not so far away from your soon to be home. Sending you and Colin and Adam and Kim lots of love and hugs. It has been a challenging year for most of us in some regard but we are here to tell the tale and enjoying each day to the best of our ability and that is all anyone can do. Hugs to you my dear friend.

@marcy sweet holiday and glad you had such a successful event and cleaned up before bedtime too. Please tell Marty Greg and I send our best. You are a good friend Marcy and words cannot convey how much I cherish our friendship. Thank you for being here for me and I am here for you. Sending you hugs and love. And did someone say Christmas cookies? :lickout:

Oh no @canuk-gal I am sorry your mom and sister are ill with the flu and I hope they are feeling better soon. I am sorry your mom was alone during the holiday and hope she is doing OK. I hope you had a nice day with your family and that the ham turned out yummy. Thank you for all your warm support not just now but through the years. Though you and I have never met in person I feel you are a friend dear Sharon and I care about you and want you to know I appreciate all your caring support and sending you hugs and love across the many miles. I hope you have a wonderful rest of the holiday week and a very happy and healthy New Year. XOXO.

@AV_ true dat. Love the nature photos and glad you are enjoying 3 days of Christmas. And so right. NIRDIS have the best of times as well. Life is up and down and good and bad and happy and challenging and that is the way it is. A roller coaster but perhaps it takes the challenging to appreciate the sweet to the full extent. Hugs to you dear @AV_.

@Daisys and Diamonds Nicky! hope you had a lovely holiday and your week is going well. Hope Gary and Melanie are doing well too and that the cats are all snuggly and purry and happy. XO.

@Jimmianne hi dear girl, sounds like a happy time with your DD and her DH. I hope you had a wonderful holiday. Thank you for asking. Greg is doing OK. No severe pain so far thank goodness. I am ready to bring him to the hospital if he experiences severe pain again. And I am OK too. I will do what I need to in order to take care of my dh and my sweet (not so sweet Oliver) kitties. I am exhausted but feeling OK. And as for the holiday we actually had a good one. We (I drove woohoo) drove to Brooklyn to drop off some things in preparation of returning there hopefully in January. And my parents met us there since we hadn't seen them since June 8th the day Francesca got sick :(

Anyway my parents were celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary yesterday and it was so great to see them. My parents are the best. My mom who deals with chronic pain brought her pain pills to Greg and insisted he take half of them despite her need for them she loves her son in law like a son and wouldn't take no for an answer. So just in case now Greg has pain pills (stupid doctors with no common sense) though I hope my mom can get by on half her pills. IMO that is true love if you knew how much my mom needs her pain pills and yet she wanted Greg to have them so he wouldn't be in pain. I mean true love indeed. To answer your question @Jimmianne that is my favorite holiday memory. My mom's selfless gift to my DH. I am so lucky to have amazing parents and an incredible dh and well despite the horrible year we are super fortunate indeed. Truly. I am so grateful for all the love in my life and for the incredible people in it too. The NIRDIs included of course. (((Hugs))).

So as I wrote above we had a good day and saw my parents (56 years happily married pretty amazing) and I cannot believe it is almost 2020.
I hope everyone enjoys a wonderful end of the year and sending hugs and love to each and everyone of you. Thank you for taking the time to post to me and sharing support and love and comfort. It is amazing what kindness can do and how it lifts one's spirits. It truly makes a difference and for that I want you to know how much I appreciate you. Thank you and (((hugs))). Wishing a happy and healthy New Year to you lovely ladies.

Leaving you with a chuckle and an awww

Have a wonderful Thursday girls! XOXO.

@Poodles4me Thank you! Sending you healing hugs and love.

@missy I hope your mother can replenish her doze, so the gift is bearable ,( [a very kind local farmacist is getting in trouble & I owe him nearly as much! I took him for granted, for sure ... now, I can do nothing & he saved my arse]
I'll be counting hours to 00:00 Jan 03 Atlantic Time ...

We had a great laugh over it. He now officially knows I’m crazy. And I know he is a good sport. While he was hanging on for dear life he kept saying « I trust you, I trust you! » haha

Can't wait to hear the NIRDI reports of the day. What was your favorite holiday memory so far?

Good question... Now, yours might do!

This is my retreat from the year done with, taking the gist of it & turning to the yet unspoilt year.

Funny: the most loved New Year carol in my tradition tells of flowering trees ['may you live to be old like they!'] wich are certainly not a fact of the season up north, but here, they are not myth - almonds are barely a week away from flower [a neighbour's is first! ENVY! ,) - but we meet to greet it, which is very fun each time], if the carol were known, it would fit this foreign place better!

@AV_ Oh no for starting a new paper.

No, this is my gift to self; not that I know what might come of it, just one way to know!
