Oh Missy, what you wrote about your mom giving Greg half her pain medication just made me cry. As someone who suffers from chronic pain I know the importance of pain management. This is such a loving gift. She is sacrificing her own well being for Greg. That is LOVE!
@missy I hope your mother can replenish her doze, so the gift is bearable ,( [a very kind local farmacist is getting in trouble & I owe him nearly as much! I took him for granted, for sure ... now, I can do nothing & he saved my arse]
I'll be counting hours to 00:00 Jan 03 Atlantic Time ...
GM girls. Happy FriYAY. Which makes me think of our lovely @bling_dream19 I hope you are having the best honeymoon and enjoying a romantic holiday week with your DH! Does referring to your DH as your hubby sound weird to you? If so you will get used to it quickly I am sure.
@marcy sounds like it was tough going back to work yesterday and I get that but woohoo tomorrow is Saturday. Hope today goes quickly for you and glad you got to leave a bit (lol) early yesterday and meet Marty for a nice dinner. XO.
@Daisys and Diamonds thank you so much for your lovely comments. Yes you are so right. One really must walk in another's shoes before completely understanding some complex issues. I hope you are enjoying a wonderful holiday week with your loved ones. XO.
@AV_ hope you are continuing happy Christmas celebrations. Love when the festivities continue on and on...enjoy. What gifts did you get for yourself?
@Scandinavian hope your mom is enjoying some peace and happiness and that her next round of chemo goes very smoothly and takes care of what it needs to. Sending you hugs and love.
@Slick1 good morning, hope you are continuing to enjoy a happy and peaceful week. XO.
We actually went cycling yesterday as Greg's knee is hurting him and cycling helps ease the pain. If he doesn't work out for a few days in a row he starts getting a lot more knee pain. So against my better judgement (because he isn't feeling well) we went cycling. It was nice but we had to stop every 10-15 minutes for him to pee and he wasn't feeling great. But he insisted and he is stubborn. We did get ice cream haha. It was overall a good day despite what Greg is dealing with and my worrying about him.
It was a hazy filtered sunshine type of day but mild temps in the mid 40s so not bad at all for cycling as long as one is bundled up which we were.
Hope everyone is enjoying a peaceful week. (((Hugs))).
@missy RELIEF! You did scare me more than a little. I have never been happier [or more impressed!] to hear about any cycling, as about your round with Greg today! - even a little after surgery counts over the Tour de France! Of course, your friendship is even more; OK, you two are also married, but marriage is run of the mill, friendship is rare as legend! In fact, I can only think of one other pair of people this close & they were in their eighties when I have met them & only looked old if you did not notice how fast & happy they lived! Unbelievable, like a miracle or a high rope act, except for them it was all as safe & obvious as walking [where 'they' are my maternal gradparents, RIP - they are The famous local pair even today]. I'd wish you their long happyness, as if you did not have it already!
[I am in Cristmath mood - florid]
re. gift to self - starting a new paper is IT; as it relates to a pile of very nice correspondence it is such a pleasure, I do not have room for much of anything else. I usually keep the three days of religious holiday 14 to 26, be what may [work allows - it is either after the academic or my national calendar - both comply; I feel odd going out]. Tomorrow there are chores to catch up with & must go to town, or else. Will do my best to pay attention to the EOY usuals too ,)
It is a happy FriYAY!! I am married and have a DH now. It does feel wierd to say husband sometimes and other times feels natural. I like to say hubby! Honeymoon was wonderful and I'm hoping for a year long honeymoon! Family time the next week or so. I definitely will do a post when I can take the time to give more deets about the wedding. It was beautiful for sure. I still had my moments of nerves and learned a lot. I'm happy and excited to be living life married to the man I love. I hope everyone has had a Merry Christmas! Thank you for all of the well wishes. Thank you for your patience in advance. Hugs and love to all!
@missy, so nice you were able to get together with your parents. Congrats to them on 56 years, that is just fantastic. I'm glad that Greg's pain meds worked out and your mother can have hers back. I'm also hoping he's not going to need them very much. And great news that he's feeling ok and I really hope that continues. I hope you both get some rest this weekend; it's been a hectic and eventful week for you both. Sweet pics of Oliver, he is a beautiful kitty. <3
I had a great Christmas with my family. Dinner on Christmas went well and we all had a good time spending time together. My brother didn't join us but I went to his place on Monday and we had a nice visit. DD and her bf left today, and ds and dh had to go to work so the house seems a bit empty right now - always a bit sad when dd leaves but she's really not that far so we can get together soon. There are things I could be doing around this house but after the past few busy days I've decided to procrastinate and do it tomorrow.
@missy im really happy you got icecream and some cycling in
hopefully with all that peeing Greg will pass some of those little stones
Im glad he has painkillers of his own now and your dear mom wont be short
