So far it's been a big nothing storm by us and hoping it continues to be nothing. I am glad you are getting (got?) a generator. Definitely the best purchase we have made for the house. In Brooklyn we rarely lose power (once during the great Northeast blackout of 2003) but here, at the beach, sometimes we lose power for no reason lol. It usually comes back within a short while but the storm outages can last longer so it was a must. If you haven't gotten your generator yet and have any questions for me don't hesitate to ask please. I feel like an expert on generators.

Today we went shopping and I got a pretty new purchase. I could not pass this blue and not add it to my collection. I got the little pink card holder too. I always leave the house without any ID and Greg keeps scolding me so hopefully this will help me remember to carry ID with me.

Oooo, love the cobalt blue bag @missy, I’ve just bought some crops and tops in that colour (truth be told, I’ve bought a lot of crops and tops in all colours ). Glad the storm hasn’t been too bad lately, fingers crossed it stays that way and doesn’t cause any major disruptions.

I don’t know why I’ve been worrying all weekend about today, we know there’s nothing wrong with the house, but you know, the surveyor has got to earn their money by trying to find something. She’s just left, and we were chatting, and she said she didn’t find anything wrong, so hopefully her report will say the same. One more thing out of the way, just the interview this week now.

Adam and Kim are in Maui for the 2nd week of their honeymoon, and said everything there is being really well run, lots of spaces between tables, restaurants operating on reduced capacities, so they feel very safe. It looks lovely where they are, and Adam is already planning a return trip for us all some time.

Work has been crazy busy and typical. Need I say more? Marty continues to do well; he sent me a text this morning because he was all excited he got a t-shirt on today; let’s hope it comes off as easily. At least he has so many t-shirts he won’t be short of them if I have to cut it off. Ha Ha. He was pretty tired last night. His neck was sore from standing and the sling pulling on his neck. Tuesday is a shorter day for him.

I stopped at a farmer’s market on the way home tonight and got some peaches. The last 2 dozen we had from the box I bought were getting gross. I threw about 10 out tonight. I picked up supper from Culver’s since today’s flavor is chocolate strawberry parfait; my new favorite flavor. I got dishes done and since we had blue skies for a change (low smoke day) I ran to the park and tried out my new lens. I got a few shots I liked. I didn’t mess with manual or AV priority since I was losing light so just shot on scene landscape. Marty said “lame”.

Hi to everyone else. The allergist appointment went as well as possible. He agreed with me we didn't have to go to steroids yet. He gave me a nebulizer and prescribed the solution that goes into it (albuterol) and also RXd generic Singulair and Brand Ventolin. Which my insurance won't cover but breathing is more important than money obviously haha. I cannot say it has yet made a difference but I didn't have time to do the nebulizer yesterday so will try that today. I am just not getting relief. It's a persistent cough.

I am trying not to think of scenarios in which this might not be asthma but something far worse. Greg tells me stop thinking about that. But 2? years ago I was shown to be at risk for a terrible disease called alpha trypsin deficiency. My internist did blood work and said not to worry as it would have probably already manifested...but it is possible it could manifest later and who knows? I didn't mention it to the allergist because I forgot. I am seeing him in 3 weeks. IF I get no relief it is a huge concern it could be that. Would really put everything else into the not important category including the fact I am still having breakthrough bleeding. Still. OK enough of those cheery thoughts lol.

We had a great albeit hot ride yesterday after I saw the allergist and it was a good day. Today is another brutally hot day but we hope to ride. Stay cool and be well girls. Lots of love and hugs and all good things.

Greg had the idea to take a video of T and put it to dinosaur sounds and send to the owners. I am working on getting good video. It is hard because our canopy is in the way as I am taking video as we cycle. Here's a still shot from yesterday's attempt. Hello lovelies

Feeling rather frustrated ATM. We went for our interview, took reams of paperwork. Unfortunately, the certified copies we had were rejected, because although they came from the relevant authorities, the numbers on them didn’t match those on the original copies that had been previously uploaded.

We came home to upload the certified copies, they uploaded fine, but when pressing ‘submit’, nothing happened.

Colin’s sent them to our attorney, and asked them to try uploading and submitting, which they’ve said they’ll do today. Please keep everything crossed they get them uploaded, and then our paperwork can get approved.

I picked up a shift yesterday and it was OK. Saw the coyotes running down the street on my way to work.

We rode today in reasonable temps (19c) and a bit of a breeze. But bright and sunny and I was well dressed in my layers. I rewarded myself with part of a big turk chocolate bar! I love Turkish delight.

Good afternoon girls! Happy Thursday!

It's another hot one day 3 (or is it day 4?) of the heat wave.
We just got back from a good ride despite the heat courtesy of the coolish East wind.

Yesterday we met the sweetest puppy! His name is TBD and he is the puppy of the brother one of the employees at our ice cream shoppe. She is a doll and she called her brother to bring the puppy so we could meet him. OMG it made my day, my week!


He's 5 weeks old.






His eyes are blue. They probably won't stay that way but in any shape or color or form he is GORGEOUS. And the sounds he was making. OMG Swoon!

Of course no day is complete without ice cream. Cycling, animals and ice cream. Sweet.

Yesterday. I was in a vanilla mood.



Today. I added coffee to my vanilla. Greg had vegan peach. So yummy.



@canuk-gal yes for cycling and nice weather and sweet you picked up another shift and enjoyed a delicious chocolate bar. Yummmm. If I could send our heat your way I would. XO.

@Slick1 how is sweet Bear doing? Hugs.

Our attorney couldn’t upload the documents either yesterday, so we decided not to wait, and raised a ticket with the embassy. Needless to say we felt pretty deflated. This afternoon, Colin decided to try another tack, and went back in to our accounts. He’d followed the written instructions we’d been given to the letter, but guess what, they were wrong He decided to try something else, and instead of adding a document, (that’s what the instructions said to do) he clicked ‘replace’, and hey presto, the submit button worked. So we’re that’s fixed it, and hopefully if it has, we should be able to check our status tomorrow.

Honestly, I feel totally drained ATM, but there’s progress on the house, and the sale of our place is proceeding well, so I’m trying to relax.

Hallo lovely ladies!

So the packing is going well, and my movers come on the 30th (probably). They gave me a 4 day window - 30th August to 2nd September, but said it would be the 30th unless something went wrong. Tim and I have our tickets booked to fly to LA, and he'll be staying for a few days to get everything set up. After that, he comes home and I'm on my own from that point! Well, not really on my own. Kids will be there and Robert (David's brother, who is my housemate for the next couple of years). I'll be back to Boston in about a month for my back surgery, which we're trying to bring up from the end of November to the end of October. Saw the Physician's asst on Tuesday and she said I'd probably be able to move it - but so far, no word on that. Fingers crossed I can get it sooner rather than later. Whenever I come back for it, I'll be here for about 6 weeks.

Crohns is flaring again, tho not as severely as in the past - I think it's almost certainly due to the stress of moving.

We're having the same heatwave as you, @missy - 97 degrees today and 95% humidity this morning. Basically, a warm bath. Ugh!

Cirrus is better. Eating more normally but poo still somewhat soft. Much better, tho, than previously. He has an appt with the internet tomorrow - fingers crossed for good news or at least a diagnosis. I'm starting to think some kind of colitis or bowel disease. It's possible that the departure of Eleanor has upset his tummy a lot. I shudder to think what me going to LA will do to him OR me. I'm going to miss my dogs terribly, tho I'll be back and forth regularly and back permanently in 2 years.

@marcy - your photos are sublime! Where is that park in relation to your house? It's GORGEOUS! I'd love to have that kind of proximity to a lake! Also - I'm hoping Marty is well on the way to recovered!

@canuk-gal - I'm glad you've been out peddling! How was your shift? I hope work is going well for you. Have you been wearing your beautiful Tiffany soli all the time? It seems such a wearable piece!

@Austina - I seriously feel for you. Moves are the pits, and moving internationally is the seventh circle of hell. I'm sending you hugs! Any progress photos of your build? I'd love to see - even if it's just pushed-around dirt!

@missy - I don't like the sound of that cough. I'm thinking of you and hoping it's nothing and we're worrying unnecessarily. And - breakthrough bleeding? Still? Hmmmgrumblegrumblenothappygrumblegrumble! But on the other hand - super nice bag!!

Yes, @mrs-b my appts were all medical this week for Bear and me. He had his well check, has doubled his weight from 3 to 6 pounds but has giardia so we have to treat him. I am so in love with him.
As far as my appts, it was not a good week. I mistakenly made my mammo/US appt for last Saturday am. I should have known better and so should they have, given my history. Big mistake (picture Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman ) because there is no Dr there to read the films. So, of course, they need me back. Told me they can see me September 14th!!! Uhhh, what?! Was told it could just be an artifact with the images. Well, nope nope nope! Been there done that with delayed diagnoses which completely altered my life!! I emailed the facility directors a scathing note expressing my outrage. I got a call and an appt for yesterday. We must be our own healthcare advocates for sure!!
One hour of multiple mammos and ultrasounds (even the Dr came in to do it) and I got cleared for three months only. I began HRT last week, so not happy with this development as they change the tissue. I came off of them for that very reason but I am so uncomfortable otherwise, and with another stressful year in masks coming up, I feel like I need the support of hormones. So rock/hard place.
Anyway, off to get the last-minute things done around here!

@Slick1 oy how stressful. I am glad you began HRT and in one week that would not cause changes yet. So it probably is not the cause. Though I guess anything is possible. I am glad you got to repeat the mammogram/ultrasound sooner than Sept 14th but upset you are not in the clear for longer. I am confused. I go to Columbia Radiology on fifth and they are the best. The radiologists read it there on the spot and repeat what is necessary....it's a trip into the city but worth it. Maybe consider that if you aren't pleased with where you go? We have to talk about hormones...let me know if you want to talk. Progesterone will help breast health...Hugs to you and Bear.

Hi to everyone else. Hope a nice weekend is being enjoyed by everyone. It is pouring here this entire weekend so no cycling. It is sort of nice hearing the pitter patter of the rain come down on the roof. I am cozy in bed and despite lots of things on my mind (so many things of concern) I continue to take it one day at a time and one hour at a time when that is rough. Sending you lots of love and hugs and healing vibes to those who need it. Stay safe, be well and have a good Caturday Saturday.

Speaking of which we saw Cleopatra yesterday as we were cycling. She has so much cattitude.




Enjoyed some delish ice cream...@Slick1 I work out hard every day. Believe me if I didn't I would be a chubby bubby hahaha and as it is I have put on weight but purposefully. Easier said than done mentally but it was for my health. You look great and are perfect (or as Gracie would say purrrrrrfect) as you are!



And on the way home I took a quick in action photo...it really was that blue. Steamy hot but bluetiful. Can you see the steam rising hahaha. Relief today in terms of temperature.

Aww @Slick1 I’m so sorry that you’ve had so much aggravation with medical appointments, but glad you persisted and got the tests done. Fingers crossed that everything will be fine from now on. Bear is such a sweetheart and I can certainly understand how much you’ll miss him when you start back at work.

Oy @mrs-b, it never rains but it pours. I‘m glad your surgery is being brought forward, but sorry to hear your Crohns is causing you so much distress. I do know how so much stress affects your ‘inner workings’ (to put it politely). I don’t know if this is helpful at all, or whether even possible that you could take it, but when my IBS was really bad, I used to take Slippery Elm, and it really helped me. Framing was due to start on the house this week, we may get a photo later today, but this is the latest on the progress. Boards are off and I think that’s the plumbing outlets you can see.


Cleopatra looks in great condition @missy, how lovely to see her doing well. Sorry about the rain, and I hope you have a relaxing and peaceful weekend.

I feel bad about complaining, but we checked our status yesterday and it’s still saying rejected, so we don’t know what’s going on. Colin found another online form that we’ve filled in and submitted asking if all our documents are now in order. It says they aim to get back to you in 5 days, but obviously it’s the weekend now and Monday is a national holiday here too, so unlikely we’ll hear next week.

Everything with the house sale is progressing well, the agent rang on Thursday for a weekly update. Our buyers have received all the searches back, presumably also the survey that was done on Monday, and have signed the contract ready for when we exchange. We’re not going to exchange until we’ve got the visa sorted out, whenever that’ll be.

Trying not to stress too much, because it’s affecting my stomach, but I’m not succeeding

Mrs b, you are so kind to ask. I keep wanting to be back here for real, but life is exhausting. For many of us right now. Stressful and hard not to feel overwhelmed. Major stuff for everyone!

I am driving into the city every day to help with the baby and I come home exhausted but still have the farm work here. My daughter and I are both exhausted, my daughter especially at the point of wits end for lack of sleep.
But!
Yesterday we tried a new technique for crying/overactive babies and it works.(!!) It uses their natural reflexes, My grand daughter, now eight weeks old cried anytime she wasn’t nursing. We thought she had digestive problems or something worse, but by using the technique yesterday she had three long naps! The technique is amazing because when the reflex is triggered the baby just...boom! falls asleep. I’m hoping this will make a difference and will continue to work. Supposedly the sleep reflex can be triggered up to four months of age.
I wish every new parent knew about this technique, and we immediately said we wished we’d known in the beginning. It would’ve been so helpful, but at least we know now and I think it’s going to be a game changer.
