Now I really did it :((

Hello lovelies

Yes, international travel is a real trial @Jemi, and dealing with all the different rules and regulations in each country, an even bigger trial. Are you thinking about giving up your French residency?

Hi @azstonie , I hope everything is well with you and yours.

@MamaBee, that's so encouraging that only 1 resident has got Covid (1 too many) but it does give you faith, that the vaccines and boosters are doing their job, I think I've told you before that it'll soon be law that the No Jab, no Job policy will be introduced. It's criminal that people can work in these situations without being vaccinated. Honestly, I felt the same as you about DH retiring, Colin was barely home, so it was a big adjustment, but it's all worked out fine. Does S have any hobbies that he can spend time doing? Also setting out the ground rules about who'll be doing what right from the start helps too.

@Calliecake I hope you and all your family are doing well and keeping safe.

@junebug17 I hope you enjoyed your family time together at Christmas.

I hope you're managing to sleep in a bit now you're retired @marcy, although I expect it'll take your body clock a while to get used to not having to get up early.

Awww your Mum looks so comfortable with JJ @missy. My friends cat sleeps on her head  I don't think I could get used to that, I sleep little enough without anything or anyone keeping me awake. Enjoy your walk today, it's dull here with a predicted high in the 80's:shock:

We went out yesterday to look at units for our laundry. We're not having the builders do it as they want a totally ridiculous amount of money for very little. We've paid for then to put in the plumbing for a sink but that's it (hook ups for the washer and dryer are included). I've fallen in love with a high gloss navy blue cabinet, and a white stone counter top with speckles in it. The speckles look black in the photo, but are more of a blue/black IRL.

No plans for today, but that could change, have a wonderful Wednesday wonderful NIRDIs :wavey:

@Austina Your countertop material is gorgeous! It makes me want my favorite cookie dough chocolate chip ice cream! :lickout: Your kitchen is going to be amazing!

S doesn’t have any hobbies. He does like golf..but is terrible at it. He knows it too..He likes to do a solitary bucket of balls..He hasn’t done it for the whole pandemic so it’s not something he’s dying to do. He‘s use to having everyone listen to what he says at work with halting breath. I’ve said it before. That won’t happen with me. Hahaha

The no jab/no job policy is in the UK, right? I can’t see it happening here…My son’s firm has that policy..Three people still got Covid but I don’t know if they had boosters.

Hi NIRDI’s!

@MamaBee sounds like your Christmas was really nice. I hated to hear Chris went home because he wasn’t feeling well but glad it was simply he forgot his medicine. Kind of scary though. Hope things get cleared up at the home your mom is at; too bad so many of the staff got sick. I hope your heater does have an auto shutoff. Marty has one in his office downstairs that doesn’t have the auto shutoff but we haven’t had any issues with it and trust me he forgets to turn it off all the time. Our basement is a walk out and all the windows are above ground; with 10 foot ceilings down there it is way cooler than our main floor. Nice your DH is being helpful in the kitchen - Marty cooks but he’s not sos handy at cleaning up his messes or doing dishes. I do feel weird not working and today was kind of bored. I did browse knitting and crochet patterns. May have to go pick up some yarn tomorrow. Good luck with getting braces.

@missy I am with you on surprise parties but what can you do? Marty did good for not being a planner. Yes, I have watched that version of Christmas Carol - I love those classic Christmas movies. Yesterday we watched all 4 Jason Bourne movies. Nice you are enjoying the zoom call with those other ladies. Beautiful pictures from your walks. I love the picture of your mom snuggling up with her cat. That is awesome.

@canuk-gal I am hoping you are feeling a lot better. I hated to hear your mom was back in the hospital and I hope she is doing a lot better as well. It’s an emotional roller coaster being in your mom’s house. We are getting cold weather too but it seems normal for this time of year. We did the same thing for Christmas - watched a lot of movies and ate a lot. We are down to about 12 candy cane cookies left and I plan on us finishing them no later than Sunday.

@Jemi welcome back to the states. I am so glad you found your jewelry pouch. I am having those senior moments as well. I don’t know if I suddenly am having memory loss or if I am just distracted. It’s kind of scary. Sorry international travel is such a hassle; are you thinking about just staying here now?

@Austina oh no that you didn’t have any money or cc at checkout. I would be like Colin and worry I lost my billfold. I just had to go online and pay our light bill - I’ve had it entered in my checking account since I got the bill about 3 weeks ago so imagine my surprise when I get an email reminding me the payment is due in a few days. I never paid the bill online. I paid it through our checking account then worried it wouldn’t get there in time with the holiday so I went and paid it on their website too - at least I’ll get a head start on the January bill. Marty loves his instapot. Good idea to be picking up things you’ll need ahead of time. I have slept in a bit the last few days but need to stick to a routine because if I sleep too long I wake up really stiff. It’s heck to be old. I really like that countertop.

@azstonie I use my jewelry bag and think of you. Thank you again!

@Calliecake I am enjoying retirement. I have watched a ton of movies, put together a puzzle, started to pack up some Christmas decorations and signed up for a Photoshop Lightroom class. I hope you are doing well.

Since Marty is on vacation this week I kind of feel like I’m on vacation too. He is still going to the gym but not doing his day job. We’ve been watching lots of movies and I am kind of restless. It’s too nasty to venture out much but we did go out to eat yesterday and will again tomorrow. I want to pick up some groceries while we are out tomorrow. Friday and Saturday are going to be cold, windy and snowy.

Take care.
Marcy

GM girls! It's terrific Thursday!

@marcy I hear you and it was so nice he put in the effort. You are way more social than I am and I think the retirement surprise party was perfect for you! Thanks for enjoying my photos. I enjoy taking them with you girls in mind. It is beautiful all around here so I cannot take a bad photo if you kwim. I mean I can take a bad photo but even the bad ones show pretty scenery haha. Glad Marty is off this week and that it feels like vacation but boo to your bad weather. We have been pretty fortunate as it is mild here and in the 50s F the past few days. So we have been enjoying hikes daily. Today is raining but now Greg informs me there will be a break in the rain before we have to leave for a doctor's appointment so if I want to go hiking beforehand we can...not sure I can though since I have to wash my hair this morning lol. We will see. Enjoy the snow and stay warm and cozy. Perhaps some card games are in order. XOXO

@Austina that is a very pretty countertop. Sparkly and eye catching. Very lovely. I am minimalist in my preferences so I like very subtle or no pattern to speak of as it is easier to see the dirt (my eyes) and keep it clean. So while I love your choice it wouldn't work in my homes but I admire these choices in the homes of my friends. I'm sorry you have to get the laundry built by someone else. I hate that they charge crazy prices and take advantage of people during this pandemic. Good for you for looking elsewhere. No reason to pay through the nose if you can get it done by someone who is more reasonably priced. I know it's a long process but you will be so happy when it is complete and you are home sweet home. Worth all the effort and time and energy and cost. Hugs

@MamaBee I am glad you have lots of tests. And hopefully they will all be negative when you use them. How is Chris feeling? Hopefully all better. Who says you have to be good at golf to enjoy it? LOL. Our friends love golf and that is all they do since they are both retired now. Seriously all they do besides parties which have been put on hold since covid. They do throw amazing parties though and we look forward to those when the pandemic is over. They bought another home in florida at the beginning of the pandemic (3 homes now) so they are snowbirds and go there in November and play golf til spring and come back here lol. Not a bad life at all. Anyway all this to say S will find his way I am sure of that. Survival of the fittest and all that jazz. How's your momma doing? Hugs

@Slick1 woohoo congrats and nicely done! You deserve a medal for all you have gone through and done for your MIL IMO and kudos to you for taking care of this latest challenge. You are an incredible DIL and I hope you are much appreciated. And well I hope your in law siblings appreciate you but even if they don't you are incredible. And we love and appreciate you. So there. Enjoy the rest of this time off...you deserve it. XOXO

@canuk-gal how is your mother doing? How are you feeling? Hope the week is uneventful and progressing smoothly. Gentle hugs.

@bling_dream19 hope you are enjoying a wonderful week. Hugs.

@springerspaniel hope you are having an enjoyable week. Hugs to you and Freddie and Clyde.

@MMtwo happy new year's eve eve. Be well and enjoy.

We had a good day yesterday. Nice long hike and another really mild day.
Today I have an appointment with a radiologist oncologist to evaluate my Dupytren's. He is the only oncologist who treats Dupytren's in the NE. Hoping he says I don't need treatment at this time. Fingers (hahahaha fingers) crossed. @MamaBee I know you are a kindred spirit in many ways and have this in common too and glad you are all healed from your treatment.

Leaving you with a photo from our hike yesterday. It was an overcast day but so pretty. And mild despite my wearing my heavy winter coat. LOL I am perfectly comfortable wearing my heaviest coats in 50 F so let's hope when the true winter temps arrive I can withstand them.

Hello lovelies

Happy New Years eve!

What a year it’s been, but we made It, we’re still here.

For us, a huge change, it was 6 years in the making, but we got there.

Wishing you all nothing but good health and happiness and hopefully an end to the pandemic, and back to living our ‘normal’ lives.

Thank you all for being the best bunch of loving and supportive ladies anyone could ask for, your friendship means the world to me.

Big love and hugs to you all :wavey:

Happy New Years Eve!
I’m trying to be upbeat…but I’m not sure it’s working..My mom’s home has four more cases. That’s twelve cases in a little over a week. They are all staff minus one resident. I’m so frustrated and worried. The resident isn’t in this last batch of twelve. Evidently the vaccines are working even in the elderly. I just wish the staff would get vaccinated..

Happy New Year NIRDIs!!

Cheers to a happy, healthy and prosperous 2022 to you all 73BAE340-8C65-4BEC-BE97-D1CD37D2B42D.gif

HI:

My DH just told me he'd give me $20 bucks if I went to get a bottle of champagne. :P2 It is just too cold out and I don't feel like, since I just bashed my head on the door and have a bloody goose egg on my brow. I saw some the other day and didn't get any . Couldn't be bothered--we had some Christmas Day anyway.

@missy--I cannot believe your weather! Lucky duckies!!!!!! We have a few mild days predicted this weekend then back to the deepfreeze. My Mom is better thank you and back to her residence as of yesterday. She is having some leg weakness so physio will need to get her back on track.

@MamaBee I don't like to hear there are so many Covid cases where you Mom lives. Unfortunately my nephew tested +ve and was symptomatic for a day or so; so now my sister cannot visit my Mother (she is -ve and has no symptoms) as per public health policy. They are all 3x vaccinated.

@marcy hope you are keeping busy and not missing work.

@Slick1 we need pooch pics!!!!! LOL

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!! Stay safe and well folks!!!! And Happy New Year!

cheers--Sharon

Nirdi shoutout! Happy New Year!!!! Thank you so much for your friendship. Each of you means the world to me. It's been a sad year but also a year of resilience, excitement and change. Thank you for the support each of you have shown to me and to each other. No better people than yall! Creme de le creme! Top of the top!
This has also been an epic blingtastic year! I'm so grateful.
I wish you all health, wealth, love, peace and joy and I send my love, blessings and hugs! :wavey::kiss2:

@Austina, Hi and glad your move and home building went off well! Your new house is the bigger/better version of what I've got here in Arizona, so you'll be comfy and happy in that house  I have a similar countertop and its worked out really well. I even had the fabricators install it in place of windowsills, which you'll soon come to find out get insanely dusty/dirty here in the southwest. This way I just wipe them off with a swiffer. Anyhoo, with Bob now retired we are preparing to sell the house and get moved to milder summertime climes so I'm in awe that you two pulled off an international move, transferred all kinds of accounts, passed driving tests, and are building a house on top of it all.

@marcy, congrats on the retirement! I love that Mr. Marty went to the effort to throw you a retirement party after hours at your place. It says a lot that people from work showed up at your place to wish you well outside of work hours/different location. People usually drift by when the festivity is at the office; grab a piece of cake in the breakroom, wish you luck during the workday. Now you can direct the timing of your day at your whim, its really nice!

@canuk-gal Oh no! I hope you’re okay! I’m upset with your hubby telling you to go out to buy champagne. You just hurt yourself..Even if you didn’t he should go out and get it himself. Sheesh..

It’s everywhere here..not only in my mom’s nursing home. No one wants to get vaccines. It’s so scary. I think she’s pretty safe. Her room is large. They only come in to take her pressure, wrap her legs, and give her meds. It’s less than fifteen minutes each time. I told her don’t be afraid to put her mask on when they come in her room.

He actually will stay on as a consultant. I have plans for him to help me get this house pared down. It better not be like a full time job.
