My darling doggie Amber had a mini-stroke last night. Luckily I was still awake as I had just gotten home from a friend''s house so I rang the vet that I work for and he met me at the clinic at 2am (I''m sure that he loved that

). Her optic nerve has been damaged and she has some sight loss but luckily her bloods, heart and everything else is ok. I''m just so worried about her though-I was crying all night and I don''t think that I slept a wink since I brought her home. I took her to my boss again this morning and got her checked over again and there''s no change and unfortunately there''s not much treatment that we can give for a few days until we check her sight again. She''s asleep in my bed with me now and D is on his way down with a doggie treat.
It''s really frightened me though. As I''m a vet student, I''m all action and so calm when a patient comes in, but boy do you lose all sense of calmness when it''s your own baby! I think I was a vet''s worst nightmare this morning!

Poor Puppins! I hope she makes a full and speedy recovery.

thank you! She''s still sleeping in my bed and I''m afraid to take my eyes off her in case it happens again! My poor pup!

Awww, Bee! I hope puppy feels all better soon and starts running around getting into things. You know once they''re doing things they''re not supposed to they must be feeling pretty good!!

I am praying for the best for you and your dog.

What an awful experience for you.

I live in terror of my babies getting ill.

Give your dog a big hug from me - and a big hug for you too!

PS What a fantastic career to be studying. I often wish I''d gone with the sciences rather than the arts.

Oh Bee...hang in there and I am sending my strongest thoughts and prayers to you and Amber.

thanks so much for all the well wishes fisher, Macie, Pandora and Lorelei. D rushed down and we took her out for a short drive and she was so happy with that. I just hate the waiting to see does it happen to her again. I'm the biggest worrier in the world-I can't help it especially when it comes to my baby. She'll be 11 in April and she goes absolutely everywhere with D and I-she even came to work with me for a few years. I just don't know what I'd do if I lost her

Even when she was having her turn last night, she wouldn't leave my side at all and when I was bawling crying, she kept giving me the paw to make sure I was ok-I love my muppy (her nickname).

Hi Pandora, I've always wanted to do veterinary but I didn't get the points in our leaving certificate so I did a science degree and then worked in a clinic for a couple of years and then got in by the graduate entry system-it's been well worth it. I just adore it and I adore all the animals that come in. I'd say working in the arts could be great though-it must be so varied.

Thanks Maisie. They are definitely the best friend that you can have-they are just so loyal, I don''t know how anyone could be cruel to one. I''ll keep you all updated.

Poor baby! Good thoughts coming your way!

DB

thanks db

Bee I am so sorry for Amber and hope she recovers as soon as possible. She looks exactly like my old girl Meg in that photo. Meg will be 13 in March and I worry about her dying every single day. She has arthiritis and although she is medicated, this last week she has started to go off her back legs a bit when out walking - it terrifies me, she has been with me through the worst experiences in my life and I love every fibre of her being. As I can''t have children I regard her as my first born. I have two other dogs so my routine will not be lost when she goes, but she will leave a gaping hole so I know exactly how you feel.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

thanks Samantha! I know exactly how you feel. Even the thoughts of losing her have me in tears. D and I are taking her on another holiday next May and all I could think was that she''s not going to be here for it (yes I do always think of the worst case scenario
8.gif
) She''s better be around for it-we took her on holidays last August and the three of us had such a great time in the South of Ireland. We have two other family dogs also, but Ambers always been my dog and my best bud. It just proved to me why I love D so much too-as soon as he found out he was nearly in tears himself and he came straight down to see his two babies. I could never date/marry a man that didn''t love my dog as much as I did.

Sorry for writing reams in all my posts today-I just can''t help it when I get upset!

Don''t be sorry. We are all here for you. I wish I could come and give you a big cuddle!

Bee she is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Is she a Golden? I am praying for her and you, ((((((hugs)))))))) I am so sorry about the mini stroke.

Awe, I''m so sorry Bee. What a sweetheart! I''ll be praying for you and your baby.

last one for now-amber with her fave christmas stocking-she just goes mad everytime she sees it! I got her name printed on it also and in the shop I lied to the guy and said that my sister wanted the stocking for her dog, but secretly it was me
3.gif
I was too embarrassed to tell him that I was buying my doggie a christmas stocking and getting her name put on it

thanks Sabine!

Oooh she is so beautiful!!! If I was able to get a dog I would get one just like her!!!!

hehe you can tell I''m so proud of her-I''m like one of those annoying mothers who keeps telling you how great her kids are
3.gif
Yeah she is a beauty!

I have a friend who has one exactly the same as Amber. She is so sweet and gentle. My son James gets a bit freaked out by dogs, but Sassy is so lovely he strokes her. She was run over about a year ago and since then she has a bit of a limp. She looks so adorable the way she just wanders along! I think she is getting old now too.

Oh Bee, I am sending prayers out for your precious dog. They add so much to our lives. Please keep us posted.

Love to you,
Linda

My heart goes out to you, bee...I''m wishing you all the best.

Awwww Bee...DH and I are huge dog people too (we have two ourselves) so we certainly understand where you''re coming from. We''ll be thinking about you guys!
