NY JAWS 2021-My Old Cut Heaven

I was there too! I sampled:

This unbelievable ruby from DeYoung, which was one of the most expensive items I saw there

797D7FB8-B280-478C-8911-87EA0887E84F.jpeg

A perfect topaz from Jewels by Grace

And also snapped a pic of her amazing line of huge old cuts

I'm glad I went, but I hope that in future years, everyone won't be behind glass; it really makes it impossible to see and sort through many of the smaller pieces, and that's what most people are buying.

Ohmygosh.... that sapphire and diamond bracelet!!!!! :kiss2:

Ok, fast forward to 3:28pm. Love these two rings from DK Bressler. I mean look at the antique pears!

This 6.65 ct uncerted stone at Rewa Jewels is a chameleon. And I love, love the size. Unfortunately, the table is super flat and DH thinks it's too warm.

I’ll end on this 6.31 ct N/ VS beauty from Jack Weir. I actually love the make of this stone. Interestingly, GIA categorized it as a circular brilliant. Maybe bc the table size is 55%? Regardless, she’s a performer irl.

OOh the deco emerald and old cut pear ring and the gorgeous OEC in the last pic!! SWOON! Did you end up buying anything? Curious minds want to know!! 8-) Thanks for sharing a few bling pics from the show! This Ohio gal loves it!!!

What fun! I considered going, but I thought I’d be too tempted to leave with something really expensive, and I’m not in the market for anything really expensive.

@cushioncutnut my goal was to research. I was very disciplined!

I have been wanting a 5 stone ring, but didn't find one the perfect one. I did find an 8 ct old cut bracelet that was very tempting. It sold, though, so that temptation is gone-phew:bigsmile:

ikwym but I have never shopped for old cuts in NYC so I couldn't pass up this show!

It was great to see a concentration of old cuts in one location:love:

@Tourmaline I’d love your opinion on the 6.3 from Jack Weir. To my eye it looks like an OEC versus a transitional with the exception of the slightly larger table.

I’d be interested to hear others opinions on this stone, too. I’m trying to learn. And can you tell l’m smitten with this stone? :D

Bummer but obviously you have great taste. I am a big believer that if it is meant to be, it will be!!

SO FUN! Really no words!!

:wavey: @maita13 . That 6.3 ct N from Jack Weir is just divine! But I know what you mean about finger coverage. Here’s a comparison pic for you…

Wow - What a treat to see all this! I know next to nothing about old stones but you can bet I'll be down that rabbit hole real soon, haha!

Gorge, gorge, gorge❤️❤️❤️

@lulu_ma , for a round/cushion solitaire, I think my sweet spot would be in the 5 ct range (11mm+). So much for down sizing

@maita13 meet me at JAWS next year and we can try on all the rocks:geek2:

Thanks for all the gorgeous photos, @lulu_ma! This show looks amazing.
P.S. I LOOOVE your avatar ring!!

Amazing. I don’t imagine I’ll ever get to one of those, so thank you for sharing!

You're welcome! It was a lot of fun to do old cut "research." :geek2:

I couldn't find any reliable-looking info online about the 2022 NY antique JAWS show, so if anyone knows when it will be, would you please post?

There's a Miami Beach antique jewelry show, a Las Vegas show, and there used to be a Chicago show (saw a video on youtube from about 10 years ago, but nothing more recent), right???

Oh, yeah-are these shows good places to buy (good deals), or just to ogle?

Thx!!!

@victoriangurl96 The next JAWS is in October.

The Original Miami Beach Antique Show (OMBAS) is in February 2023

The Las Vegas show is trade only, I believe.

I haven't heard of a Chicago show.

Hope this helps!

Thanks @lulu_ma. I was confused because I thought the NY JAWS show had the word "Antique" in the title and is strictly antique jewelry and watches (not new stuff). My bad!

There's also a smaller, but still fun show in Baltimore the weekend before the NY JAWS.

I'm going to try to go this year. Would be fun to put together a PS GTG.

Oh I wonder how it compares to NY JAWS. I hope we can get some GTGs in this year!

Sorry to threadjack this as I couldn't find a more recent thread for NYC JAWS - who is going this year? (27-30 Oct)

I'm (most likely!) flying in from London to spend a long weekend in NYC that week so would love to come to JAWS and meet a few PSers! :geek2:

I’m on the fence since I already blew my bling budget this year! :lol-2:

Haha to be fair, I wouldn't even bother researching or looking at any other diamond if I had Marilyn
