So the second part of my diamond surprise for mom arrived today (the first was a platinum pear pendant from GOG).

This time, I chose a suite of 5 OECs (1 ctw) that Grace set into a vintage-inspired, 18K rose gold shank with platinum prongs.

Communication with Grace was a breeze - and the ring looks even better than I'd imagined!

Forgive me the state of my fingers - I was fretting over a complicated report!

It's beautiful! I am sure she will fall in love with it! The rose gold is just so lovely with the vintage look. Well done! :appl:

Thanks Rockinruby for your kind words!

I was contemplating a shared or U-prong 5-stone from IDJ or WF (using either IDJ's "PS" quality stones or ACA), and had made enquiries - both Luann (IDJ) and WF were absolutely lovely and helpful.

However, while trying to decide, I browsed JeBG's site and was taken by this suite of OECs right away  . My mom has mostly YG and I thought rose gold would work well with the rest of her jewelry.

I went with a custom vintage-inspired setting (Grace has a three-stone listed with just the style I envisioned) - even though mom is a thoroughly modern girl at heart - because it complements the soft, petal-y flashes of the OECs just so. I'm so glad it turned out the way it did! :D

I am sure she will love it!!! It's a beautiful ring.

Totally retro & I totally love it. LOL I'm sure your mother will be thrilled at her new bling. More importantly, she will be thrilled it came from you. =) Cherish your time with your mom. You sound like you have a great relationship with her. :appl:

Thanks arkieb1 and ccuheartnurse!

Mom is fantastic, of course she has her little mom quirks :) - and although I have a quick temper I try to remind myself that others don't see the world as I do - sometimes I feel guilty not spending enough time with her!

The ring IS 100% retro  - I hope I didn't project too much of my own preferences into it! It was great fun deciding on a setting. I toyed with the idea of a more intricate design, but finally thought it was best to let the sweet little OECs shine. :)

I love it so much, it reminds me a lot of my 5-stone!

Thanks rubybeth - I just had a look at your thread with your lovely 5-stone -> LOVE! The graceful curve of the cathedral sweeping up to meet the delicate prongs  You have such a beautiful wedding set too!

On another note, I hope all goes well with your appraiser! Your OEC/ transitional is really such a perfect stone. I adore low-color antique cuts, and yours is just the paragon of a romantic, antique-y flowery stone - I'm sure it will look fantastic however you set it!

love it!!!!!!!!!!! nice gift!

What a sweet gift. It looks amazing. I am sure she will love it.

Thanks motownmama and acinom for your kind words!

Aww, thank you! The 5 stone really is a classic look--it's probably my most commented-on piece. I'm sure your mom will love it!

It IS a classic look! Here are some finger shots (on myself) - I was trying to capture that particular OEC look!

And a poor attempt at a glamor shot :)

Sorry for posting so many pictures... I find it hard to resist (over)photographing every new piece of bling - whether mine or not!

I love the style you went with. I think it's perfect for the oec suite and the rose gold is just so lovely for the setting! Btw, I'm loving the new photos you added! It's a beautiful ring! :appl:
