ARRRRGH! Last night, I was making a batch of shortbread for a Christmas cookie exchange. A big 9 x 13 pan of shortbread. When I was patting the thick, butter-and-sugar-and-flour dough down into the pan, I realized...I had forgotten to remove my diamond RHR. Stupid me. Now the ring is on the side, buttery and sugary, waiting to be cleaned. I think I''m going to have to take it in for an ultrasound cleaning.

Does anybody else do this at this time of year?

Welcome!

If you have any household ammonia, mix 1 third with 2 thirds hot water, soak for half an hour, then scrub and rinse. This should dissolve the grease. Alternatively, one of the experts here has mentioned that good old Scrubbing Bubbles works well! But if all you have is hot soapy water, that should do a decent enough job for now, until you can get a pro clean or get something stronger.

It is cookie dough...uh duh...just suck on it a bit. Viola! Man I can''t carry all of you!§

i always wear my ring when i make food, and i have an ultrasonic for the very reason that i hardly remove it when doing household chores or gardening for cooking. love being able to clean it myself at home!

ha, that''s what i was thinking. I always wear my jewelery when i''m cooking too. unless i''m making meatloaf or something the rings stay on. nothing a short soak can''t take care of.

Yep, a soak and a light scrub and it was sparkly again. Still, I''m wondering if some of the shortbread had little diamond prints in it.

Ha, diamond prints in the cookies! I love it! You''ve got me thinking how cool it would be if some crafty PS baker here would whip up some cookies in the shape of RBs, ECs, princess-cuts, etc., and then ice them to look like diamonds and gemstones! Anyone? Anyone?

LOL.

This just happened to me; I have a few party''s to attend this weekend so I made a bunch of cookies tonight and forgot to take off my ring. I will clean it tomorrow

Beautiful diamonds covered in cookie dough sounds like a terrible problem to me. Let me know if you need some help over there.
