Okay. I''ve just found the perfect gown.

I promised myself I wouldn''t do it. Would stick to ebay and NOT go retail. But... um. OH it''s PERFECT I have to have it. It looks just like a Christos gown I feel in love with years ago... but it''s not Christos. And it''s totally. And oh oh oh... BUT the only store around here that carries it so SO on my &*^$^ list. Will NEVER go there again.

Oh I promised I''d be smart. But... I just lost my heart over to this gown. AND I CAN''T get a good picture for you... the one on the knot is terrible... but it''s on the paloma blanca site it''s number 3661.

Here''s the pic from theknot. It''s PERFECT for Peter Island. And it''s flowy and romantic!!!

Okay. So never is apparently tomorrow. I'm going to call and see if they have this gown in... and if they do I'm going to go try it on. Can't help it. MUST SEE GOWN IN PERSON.

ETA: Do you sound like a complete lunatic?

From what I can see, it looks gorgeous. Will it be in budget (I only ask because in your other post, you said your budget was small)? I tried on a similar Paloma Blanca last week and the quality was really nice. I think it was $1500, if that helps!

Hi Gypsy.....That gown is gorgeous! Let us know how it looks in person.

Gypsy, I LOVE it and I can''t wait to hear what you think after you have tried it on! BTW, where are you going? I know we live in the same area, but I don''t know of many bridal places.

Good Luck! I hope you love it as much in person!

Yeah... I figured it was 1500ish. The misery budget was for ebay. I refuse to spend more than that on a store sample... unless for it''s a gown I adore. Especially since I''ve been so... cynical and frankly, unexcited about this planning process.

But I really can fit this into the budget-- talked to FI about it tonight... if I want to. It was self imposed restriction because last time I bought a $3500 Christos. Then found a store sample on ebay for less than half that. So this time I swore I''d go the ebay route... and keep a higher budget in reserve for a Christos or similar ''perfect'' gown if one showed up. FI says this is the happiest he''s seen me about wedding planning in 18 months. LOL.

SO... I''m going to call tommorow... see which store in my area has it (there are two more that carry the line now) and go try the sucker on.

The store I had a bad experience with (like your cushion problem...lol) was in Springlake. I was after another Paloma when I went there 2 years ago the service was so awful I just left with such a desire to never go their again, that I looked at other gown designers. Matawan is where there is another called ''sales unlimited''

in Bayville. Near is relative... but I''m on a mission darn it!

HAH! I GOT IT! Front:

Oooh!

I was HOPING that your print screen question was for exactly this reason. I like it! I really hope that you can find somewhere nice to go try it on soon, and that it''s just as pretty in person!

Oh yeah... you betcha. That was my goal! THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

If it''s your dream gown, I say go for it! It is a beautiful dress.

My DREAM gown? LOL. Believe me I've seen my dream gown. And it's price tag. Live in NJ-- Klienfelds is a hop skip and jump...

Would need a different wedding altogether for it though.

BUT it's my dream gown for this wedding because it represents the romantic softer side of me that I can let out at a destination wedding. Plus it will look good with the shoes I already have...lol. And possibly my headpiece. And really... it's lovely.

Sundays apprear tp be a bad day to go look at wedding gowns-- well , Father's Day Sunday anyway. Monday one of the shops are closed... Tuesday? Maybe.

Okay well. I tried it on. It's lovely. But it's matte satin... and I was hoping for georgette or organza-- the train and the lace are perfect though. I tried another gown on that I didn't recognize from the site because the picture of it is so awful on there... and it was stunning in person. It's got an organza skirt so it's flowy and romantic and it has the alencon (spelling) lace that I love. And fortunately Paloma Blanca's fabrics are great for her price point (or even a higher price point, honestly. Much better than Lazaro fabrics in the gowns I tried on) so... I still like the first but I'm leaning toward the second. I didn't put a deposit down... cause I can't choose between them right now, need to think on it-- and there is another gown from the new collection that I want to try on-- but that hasn't hit stores yet. It will in two months... and so... I'll go in and make a decision then. I'm happy with this price point though... and her gowns are very well constructed (I knew that last time, which is why I was looking at her gowns this time...bridal shop owners always know what lines are good deal, and which ones really aren't... but are popular so they stock them) so... I've decided this time-- it's going to be a Paloma for me.

This is the other one... but it looks terrible in this picture.. in person it''s completely different.

Gypsy - I tried on a pink version of the second one you tried on - I loved it!!

I got a Paloma Blanca myself, it was $1500 retail but I mail ordered it through RK Bridal for under $1k, including shipping!!! Get a price quote from Pearl's Place too, RK will price match and beat it by 5%.

http://www.rkbridal.com/

I was very hesitant to order online/mail order, but it came really fast, and I saved SO much money....

The only thing is you need to find someone to do alterations, I guess.

ETA: RK Bridal and Pearl's Place are both actual bridal stores in NY and LA, respectively, but they do high volume sales by mail order...

HI GYPSY!!!!

I''ve been waiting and wondering how your dress search went; didn''t want to nosy, but hey, I''ll admit it, I am

.

The picture you showed earlier of your dream dress was absolutely gorgeous, but I imagine once you get into the shop, there are so many temptations.

Glad to hear there are a couple that have caught your eye.

Pictures would be great

OK, let me get this straight: the style of the setting for your asscher is settled; the Powerpoint presentation and documentation are ready for Quest; the wedding dress choices are being narrowed down; the groom is ready and willing-- Wow, you''re making great progress!!!! Congrats!!!!

Flopkins! I have a place here who will sell it to me for 1100-ish-- without service. But Pearl''s Place and RK bridal are a much better idea cause of the huge savings (was actually gonna break out Bridal Bargains to jog my memory-- but you''ve done it for me!)-- I would need a shorter than standard train on the one you tried on (doesn''t it look fabulous in person??? Which one did you get?)-- I want a sweep train and the shops said that wouldn''t be a problem because PB does that for about 100 bucks extra. The ''first'' one comes with a perfect train, however. And the ''new'' one... I think it''s a sweep too. The shops all said 4 months for PB gown-- was that how long it took for yours? I would only be worried about the custom train-- and the hem to hallow measurements. But I think I can get our tailor to do the measurements for me. The fourteen fit me perfectly in the store... so I think that''s fine too. I went to two stores... one was selling the one you tried on for 1675--- offered it to me at a discount for 1550 (uh huh)... the second shop had the first on priced at $2000 (I''d get a Christos for 600 more!). The shop I called up north said 1400 for the one you tried on too, 1500 for the other one-- and 20% off with no service. But if I''m not getting service-- I''m buying at RK!!!

I also found this one I like on the knot: It''s Occasions by Jim Hjelm. The evil store carries them-- wonder if RK and Pearls do Occasions. If they don''t I''m not even gonna look at it. Thanks for the memory jog! I live in Brick... how close are you to me?

Isaku-- Oh god, you have no idea. I am a Virgo-- an anal retentive planner! I had my last (the second one we canceled) wedding planned 18 months out. Although I forgot to take nice pics of my existing gown and list in on ebay. If I can get-- $500 for it (huge loss) I''ll be satisfied. There we some tempations-- but not as many as you think. I''m a fabric snob... if the line doesn''t have fabric quality I like-- it aint gonna happen. And at this price point, lines with decent fabrics are few and far between. I don''t think I''ll have pics for a few months yet. But-- when I do I''ll post them. I''m going to need them for a final decision!
