i tried on a 0.7 and a 1 ct diamond rings today just to see what it would look like on my finger. the 1 ct almost covered my whole finger!!! i was blown away by how big it actually was against my finger. i can still see the image in my mind''s eye right now. my finger is about 4.75 american size

i also asked to see an I coloured diamond , it was already set in wg, and when i turned it over i could see it as a VERY slight yellow, it was white face up.

this was a great experience for me and i cant wait till i actually get to purchase my own diamond....

I think you will be suprised how far your budget can take you with an I color / eye-clean si-1 ideal cut diamond. Diamonds which are cut to yield beauty and not carat weight will face up whiter.

I've heard the 1 ct size being tossed about a bit in conversation (for me!) so maybe the "shrinkage effect" won't be so bad!

My size is close to yours. You just made my day!

I wear a size 6.5 ring (american) and have a .7 ideal cut stone, and I love the size. Just over 1/3 the width of my finger, it centers beautifully on my finger and sparkles like mad.

josh, i am looking at diamonds in those ranges, i am not interested in getting a d-f or vvs1-2. lurking on pricescope pays off.

pulp_princess, u should go and try some rings on just to see what it would actually look like! when i looked at a 1 ct in the shop window, it didnt look that big to me and it was certainly exciting to see the 'huge-ness' on my finger!

marty, yeah. on my finger size, where i come from and my age, anything over a 0.9 ct would look too big for me now.

What kind of budget are you working with?

You should be able to get a dandy of a stone...This budget puts you in the .80 carat weight class if you decide to stick with an H or I colored si-1. I would really consider a good si-1. There are many reputable vendors who will cherry pick a nice one for you..

I like the look of the Regent stones in the way they incorporate the hearts & Arrows pattern.

They are beauties. The only non RB I would consider.

Josh: As far as I know, GOG is only online vendor of Regents. I have been in contact with Jonathan about them, but wont be making an actual purchase till a few months time. and i also love the H&A thingie they have going on

Marty: It was because of pricescope that i got to know about regents and fell in love with them. I dont want a rb because it is too common where i come from and i want something special and unique :D

One of the many neat things about buying from GOG is that they have a lifetime upgrade policy (there are several other Pricescope vendors who do as well). So, if after a few years, "shrinkage" has set in and your .8ct stone doesn't look quite as big as it does when you first buy it, you can upgrade to something larger!

Aren't those pictures of the regent Rhino posted absolutely amazing? I can see how you would choose one.

heeheee, yeah. not only about shrinkage, just generally i'd like a bigger diamond as i get older. and it'd fit in nicely with the lifetime upgrade scheme from GOG

marty: they are, it is amazing that a squarish stone can be just as brilliant as a rb and have the H&a thing going on. i am so unimpressed with the princess shape i have come across in b&m's.

Tomatoe, good job in choosing a Regent! They're so gorgeous. In fact, they're the only modern cut I'd consider purchasing right now!
