OK, looks like I''d better be getting myself a digital camera if I am going to be hanging around here. I am totally illiterate when it comes to photography so . . . I''m asking the experts here!

Does anybody have suggestions of what I should get so I can take some good pictures of my stuff? [make/model, features to look for, etc.]

Oh, and also, what software do you use to crop the pics, etc.?

Thanks,
Blu

YAY!!!! So glad to hear you''re going to get one!

Mine''s a Kodak Easy Share...I love it. I''m not only an idiot with all things electronic, I''m and OLD idiot! If I can take and post pictures, anyone can!

I just use the photo editing program that was already in my computer...Arcsoft or something...

Thanks for the quick responses ladies!

Matatora - Thanks, I'll check out that thread. I should have done a search before posting.

Widget - Hey, I'm old too! I've been 39 for years!! And, I'll check out the camera you have too [which model do you have?]. Your pics look good to me!

I got the Cannon SD400, and it''s great. Nan uses it more than I do, Lol!!!!!! Pics are super clear!!!! Great for taking pics of jewelry!!!

I have the Canon SD300 and it''s great! It''s very compact so I take it everywhere and IMO takes great photos. I was able to take some pretty good ones of my new e-ring, it just takes some practice. I use Adobe Photoshop CS, but unless you are excellent on the computer and are going to use it for other kinds of projects, there is no reason to spend that much on software. I think the Canon came with software to crop the photos and some other basice adjustments. Once you decide between a few cameras I would go on amazon.com and search for them on there so you can see the user reviews. www.cnet.com also has reviews of digital cameras. One more place to go to for reviews: http://www.digitalcamera-hq.com/ this site might also help you choose a great camera.

No worries, if you take a look at the the Its blue like my eyes thread under Colored Stones, or the Tiffany birthstone ring under the SMTR forum you will see how well it takes picutres. I have also taken some super cute pictures of my family. I would recommend buying a higher spead memeory card it really made a difference in how quickly I can take pictures!

We just got the Cannon SD400. It''s awesome. If you get a 1 GB memory card, you can take a two hour video!
