Thanks, sig47! The round will probably go into the JbEG Sophie or maybe a very simple Single Stone setting, yellow or rose gold, I'm not sure which will look better with the stone.

I'd like to have the cushion set in rose gold in this Durnell setting, but I'm not sure if it's too modern for an AVC. Do they look better in a more vintage setting?

Thank you for the kind words brite ice, Fly Girl, and rosetta :)) !

Thank you, petrock! I know you'll find something and I kind of hope it's that ring on your pinky-- it's gorgeous  !

If I'm brave, I'll take more photos of these and start a thread on them. I'll definitely take photos once they're set ;)) .

Thank you again for "lending" me your thread!

Aww, thanks Bella mezzo  ! I was telling my husband about this thread last night and he said "Did you also tell them that you're cut off from spending for the rest of the year?" For the last year and a half I've been buying colored gemstones and having them set, so the agreement was that I could get the diamonds but there would be no further spending (I know, still a very sweet deal).

I will definitely take lots of pictures once these diamonds are set.

Laila 619, CherryBlossom, and mrssalvo, thank you for the enthusiasm!

Thank you, minmin! I have to admit, getting those pictures was painful. I thought photographing colored stones was tough but diamonds are so hard to photograph!

Susan

I love the AVC, too! These two stones have completely different personalities. I think the charm of an AVC is easier to capture in an image than an OEC-- in person the round is just as beautiful as the cushion.

Those are amazing stones and you have the most excellent taste!!! Wow...again!!!

I think the Sophie is perfect for the OEC. I think the Durnell ring is nice, but I would personally lean more toward a more antique setting for an AVC since it is an antique cushion style.

If you want split shank, there isn't much prettier than this style, IMO...

But I also adore the ones with french cuts on the shanks by Victor Canera...

Ohhhh WOW. Double whammy! :sun: :sun:  :appl:

I like DS' setting suggestions - and if you want to really splurge I am dreaming about what Van Craeynest or MC2 could do with that cushion

Amys Bling, yennyfire, thank you for the kind words!

Thank you for the compliments, DS! And also for the setting links!

I think the Sophie is a really nice choice for an OEC. The claw prongs are so elegant and I love the detail on the basket. I remember seeing a thread on that particular ring (the 4.09 carat OMC). Do you happen to remember who bought that ring? I'd love to look at the extra pics again.

About 6 weeks ago, Pearlman's sent me the split shank Durnell sample pictured above. I loved it, and would really like to set the WX cushion in it but wondered if it was too modern. It's good to hear someone else's opinion on that-- I'll keep looking. I love Charmy's Leon ring. It's fabulous, but I don't think Leon will work with AVCs anymore.

Victor Canera's french cut settings are lovely (angieteren sp?, and LGC) I wonder if he would work with yellow gold... I may email him. Steven Kirsch does amazing work, as well. I received a ring from him Wed and it's amazing! I'll start a thread on it in the next few days.

Yssie, I would LOVE to have the cushion set by either VC or MC2. Man, I hate to say never but I think they're wayyy out of the price range.

Wait a sec. You just got these two amazing diamonds and you have a new ring from SK?! Um, you are having a very good jewelry year, I'd say!!!!

In reference to any Leon rings, I'd have SK make it, especially since Leon won't set AVC's. In fact, that was what swayed me over to SK for referrals.

The solitaire settings by Van Craeynest are not going to be quite as high as a SK/LM pave ring judging from the price quotes I have gotten and seen here. I adore VC, but I really like those with smaller stones.

I am sure Victor Canera works in yellow gold. He just made that yg wedding band for D&T:

You're right, it's been a very good jewelry year!

Wow, I'm delighted to hear VC might be a little less costly than an SK/LM pave ring. I love LIB's Grape Jelly VC ring. I think the AVC would look amazing in there.
