Yennyfire what a ring!!! Its beautiful, you must be rubbing your bejewelled hands with glee at such a lovely find. =)

Yenny....OMG! What a fantastic ring! Soooooo gorgeous! :appl:

This thread has made me feel so much better! I'm the only person I know with an antique ring and I've felt quite insecure about it because it looks so different. It's nice to see so many other beautiful antique rings and to find fellow admirers.

Here's my baby. I think she's a tranny from the mid-1940s and she was my grandma's before she came to me. She did take a good few chunks out of the stone, but I think they're only visible if you know they're there.

I'll try to get some better pictures, but I'm not very good at photographing her.

My OEC. Around 6mm, near colorless and likely VS clarity.

Dreamer D....that is one gorgeous stone!

A couple of shots of my OEC. 1.97 L (GIA Graded). This stone is very bright and has a lot of fire. I love the facet pattern.

Holy crabsticks, GamGam and Dreamer_D, those are some gorgeous stones!

I don't know how I've never ventured into this forum! BF has an OEC ring in his possession, so I'm just waiting for the proposal. It's approx 6mm, K VS1 (but faces up SO bright and white!). I just love it and can't wait to wear it everyday.

Thank you for the compliments :)) It was a very lucky find on Ruby Lane.

star sparkle your stone looks lovely and the mount is awesome. Love the prongs.

My old cut three-stone ring. I found it at a pawn shop. I had trouble getting a good picture of it, this was the best I could do and it didn't capture its beauty. It has an eight-petal flower pattern in the center and eight fat triangular arrows around the edges. It has a gorgeous, bright look in seemingly all lighting conditions and throws off amazing fire with all colors of the rainbow in my bathroom light. I'm wondering what this cut is. If you have any comments to share, it would be appreciated. Maybe it is "European?" It has a very small culet and a faceted girdle. It has edge to edge brightness, no "mush" and appears very symmetrical. The girdle has no abrasions or chips. The closest image I could find on-line to it is the August Vintage Round. It looks identical to the AVR cut to my eyes except for the culet. My guess is that someone took these diamonds out of an old setting and placed it in this modern 18K yellow gold setting sometime from 1980 to the present from the vibe of the style. I showed it to a jeweler who sells estate pieces. He measured it and made a 'guesstimate' of its specs in the setting.
I realize no accurate assessment can be made without removing it from the setting. I guessed it as approximately 1.32 carats, I-J color, SI1. He measured it and examined the ring and agreed with me about the weight but guessed the color to be G. He thought the clarity was SI1 on the border with VS. I think it is SI1 because I could see a small white feather near a prong and a very small carbon dot near the edge. The stone has no visible inclusions under 10x other than those, but I could find those inclusions too easily for it to be VS.
The side stones are approximately a quarter carat each and are VS clarity and the same cut as the center. The stone is eye-clean. I much like my new ring I got last weekend. With the dealer I traded a couple of my rings for it and in addition I paid $1900 cash. The trade included a .50 carat K SI1 antique diamond ring, a platinum and 18K wedding band and a couple of insignificant gold rings.

Gorgeous! You need to start a thread for each of these in Show Me The Bling!

Thanks armywife14 and SparklyOEC! The OEC was a lucky find on Ebay. Good idea! I think I will post. I am interested in what cut the necklace is for sure and I am about to reset the OEC. Love the old cuts!

Oh geez....I am sorry I botched your sig armywife13. Lol. I wish I could blame it on my kiddos (sometimes they INSIST on sitting on my lap right when I sit down to the computer). But I did this one all by my scatterbrained self ;)

Hello all!

I have been lurking for months on this thread and am so pleased to finally be able to join in and post. Here is my lovely engagement ring, 2.56 OMC (ca 1860) G, SI1. The setting is new in 18K white gold but it is modelled on a victorian style. I love it and hope you guys do too. It might not be the best photos, I am still learning how to take good pics of my lovely...

Here are a few pics of my 1 ct L/M color VVS2 OEC. I had it reset in a simple solitaire setting so that the stone was the star of the show!

It's most likely going into my VC custom Sophia with the tapering french cuts that I had designed for my RB. Thinking about selling it back to Wink or maybe getting another (smaller diamond or 2 smaller for studs).

Oh, bright ice, I hope you do, because that setting is glorious. I have oohed and ahhed over it a lot, and your beautiful OEC in it would be perfection. Plus, we can get lots of new pictures from you this way!

Oh my, bright ice - you got it!!! I love your stone and it'll be gorgeous in your Sophie setting!

That is going to be breathtaking Bright Ice! I love french cuts! Just enough twinkle without stealing the show. :wink2: Although, I don't think anything is showing up that stone...

Bumping because I love this thread so much!! Please ladies, let's add some more!

I'll play!

This is my 1.89ct K Si1 American Cut (early ideal cut from the 1920s) in a hand made period filigree setting. I love her!
