Old Cut Lovers...... please sign in!

Everyone's stones are so pretty! Thank you PS for opening the world of old cuts to me :)

The ring is a 1ct GIA-J OEC, the earrings are ~2tcw (though I think quite a bit more because they are so fat on top and look bigger than my 1ct OEC all around) EGL-G-H OMCs.

Wow! This thread still has life. It's so thrilling to see the growth in appreciation that old stones have gained.

I am so happy I discovered old cuts. They are beautiful and unique! I thank PS for introducing me to them.

My favorite are OMCs. I like that they are not quite round or cushion. I also love that they sparkle a little different, especially in low light!

1.16 OMC I color SI1

Love your new baby, armywife!!! Could look at that all day long! (lucky you!)

Thanks junebug17 and Enerchi! I love staring at this beauty, I will try to get some more pictures taken for the SMTB thread!

I have a little teaser on my new stone :Up_to_something: we haven't figured out how to set it yet so its in a drawer upstairs "off-limits"

1.88 EGL L/SI1 -estimated to actually be an M and its eyeclean, slighty out-of-round.... all the pics I have are from my cell phone aka crappy.

Wow, it's beautiful LJL!!! Hope you get that baby set and on your finger soon!

LJL, it is gorgeous!

I can't wait to see how you decide to set it!

This was my great-grandmother's ring. I don't know much about it, but it is not in the best shape. The ring is platinum with single cut diamonds, and the center diamond has been estimated at 1.17ct, estimated color I-J-K. Unfortunately it has a badly damaged girdle and even a chip on one of the crown facets itself. But I love her anyway!

That's a beautiful ring you have inherited, ecf! Are you considering having the girdle polished?

I love OEC, OMC, and Antique Cushion Cut....they are amazing!!!!

I recently inherited my grandmother's diamond. It's a 1.29 OEC, L-M. I really wanted to keep the original setting as it was gorgeous but the diamond melee fell out twice and no matter how much it was rhodium plated, it still had a gold tint (not pure 14k gold?). Anyways, I just got it back from the jeweler after having it reset and am in LOVE.

I am not great at taking pictures of it yet but couldnt wait to share. Now if only boyfriend would propose SOON! :wink2:

ANtiqueSparkler- that ring is lovely! The double claw prongs really suit it. It's an exciting time for you! And you have a stone with a family history too.

I think your camera is trying to focus on the largest thing it can in most of the photos. (IE- it is getting confused about what you actually want to photograph and isn't focusing on your ring.) Are you taking those with a phone or a regular digital camera? The flower shot is getting pretty close to your camera understanding what to take a picture of though. A few more tries and you ought to have it!

I read through this thread last night for fun and realized I never added mine, so...

3 stone early european cut stones. 1.15, .48, and .41. All three are actually cut similarly although one lacks a culet. But it's the same sort of "haphazard" looking pattern with none of the order a transitional has (the .41 stone, that is.)

I LOVE the styling on the 3 stone! Did it come that way or did you get a setting made like that? It's very cool and really coordinates with the older stones so well!

I had the setting made. The thread can be found at: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/old-european-cut-three-stone-ring-by-23rd-street-jewelers.175582/

Thank you for the compliment!

I don't think I've added mine - 1.96 J SI2 in antique setting

Yay, that is really lovely.

I have a 1 carat EC, so the sight of all those little step cuts...

Bumping this thread up. I hope it gets sticky-ed! :))

To keep with the spirit of the thread, I'm currently having a 1.03ct GIA certified O-P OEC set into a rose gold pendant. I'll post more pics once she's in my possession again but I managed to take a few right after I received it. (Sorry for the poor quality photos! They were taken at dusk.)

Oops! Sorry for the huge pics! :?

Ooh I get to play! Here is my 1.91 L VS1 OEC from EB Horn in Boston. It's not as crazy beautiful as many of the ones I've seen here, but this one my fiance and I picked out together and so it's very special to us.

Here is a quick iPhone shot of my 3.10 OEC. I just picked her up today, and still need to do a more glamourous photoshoot.
