I love it, Shady! So 1920s! Looks like the center stone is an OEC.

Chalk me up to not being able to choose.. at one point I had a rose cut, mine cut, oec, transitional, and a antique cushion.. they all have there own beauty that the others can''t match.

Wow, this thread has me drooling! Grace, Arjunajane, Glitterata - your pics are all amazing!!!!

I''ve never been able to get a decent pic of my OEC unset, but here are a couple once it was set.

Wow, Lauren, what a beautiful stone!

What has been so educational about this thread is photo after photo of old cuts and how, ensembled, they show:

a) how the old cuts look
b) the obvious visual ways in which they differ from a modern round brilliant
c) how absolutely stunning they are
d) how similar they are to one another, i.e., they are a class unto themselves

I now feel like I really "see" the oec''s and old mine cuts and can identify the way my own looks and how it is like the others. I know why I immediately loved it as I love all of these. These old cuts are just what my eye finds beautiful.

Thanks again for this fabulous thread.

I Love Love Love everyone's pieces!!!

I too love old cut stones and only just begun my collection.

This is a pin 1.20ctw approximately, the center is a greenish blue OMC(cut kind of like a boulder)-lighter in person than the pics---was told dated to 1890's, who knows! I love it anyways :)

This 3 stone OEC needs a resetting, haven''t quit decided what I want yet!

3 OEC in rose gold1a.jpg

Center approx. .90ct and sides approx. .85ct each---one has a higher table than the other.

Oh my gosh! I love this thread so much!

Every single picture in this thread is stunning!

I love all of the old cuts, but the very first diamond I ever fell in love with was the OEC my mother inherited from her grandmother. I play with it every time I go to visit, and I think OECs are therefore my sentimental favorite. Antique cushions are a very close second, though.

Yes. Every piece fascinating, gorgeous. I just love this thread and every post.

And I have wonderful news. My fiance''s great-grandfather was a wholesale jeweler. My fiance''s mother (who is 92) inherited a number of old mine cut diamonds and just told me she''s giving me a 14 karat gold necklace that has 7 old mine cut diamonds, bezel set in white gold. 1.67 tcw. She had this piece made from resetting several pieces into one. I haven''t seen it.

I don''t know when I''m getting it. More to come . . . .
