Hi everyone,

First of all…thanks to everyone who helped me to get in touch with DK!!

I contacted him through his Etsy shop. It seemed easiest. He answered me back last night and we are designing a ring based on @caolsen ring because that is literally my dream ring!!

It will be different as I don’t have a yellow diamond and I want the shank to be a little different.

I have a really ugly, almost and maybe an industrial grade champagne diamond that I’ve had sitting in my jewelry box for years. I am hoping a bezel halo will mask the horrible quality of the stone.

Or I could use my current engagement ring stone. It is a G color and good stats, though not by PS standards. But it’s a white diamond.

So, my question for all of you is….should I use the crappy champagne diamond or the G color diamond? I’m attaching pictures of each stone. The crappy stone is in the rose gold setting (also crappy) but I got that ring for a steal. It is a 1.65ct, 7.6 mm round.

The G diamond is also 7.6 mm(approx) , 1.69ct.

Your opinions on this project are greatly appreciated. I’ve asked DK for his input as well.

I also attached DK Etsy site and his reply as I’ve never sent my jewelry to anyone in the mail and I hope this is the real DK and not a scammer. (You just never know).

This is the inspiration ring that is @caolsen has. I hope she doesn’t mind me copying her ring. :(49830148-5D5C-4FCC-A7AD-F8C0E41B2E20.jpeg

Here is another design I’m considering for the G colored diamond. (Only the ring in the middle. Not the bands).

Thoughts?? 8A54E1F0-2897-4283-8008-A54C24575680.jpeg

For me, it would depend on how much I was attached to my engagement ring? The design is STUNNING & I think either stone would look beautiful in that setting, but what's your end goal? Is this new ring to go with your wedding set or is it a right hand ring?

I think you could get away with the "industrial-grade" diamond in this setting. (Hilarious reference, BTW.) In fact, I think it might look quite good. I'm not sure if a white diamond would work as well with this one.

I’m not too attached to my engagement ring. I would rather keep it as a solitaire to mix and match with different bands. Thanks for your advice. That makes me feel better about the champagne diamond.

I was thinking the same thing. I even thought about 18k rose gold for the bezel.

I would use the new ring as another engagement ring. I love to wear different looks.

My vote is also for the champagne diamond.

I think the DK response is definitely real because it is so short and to the point.

If you ever get a long winded, flowery response from DK, then you'll know something is very wrong! :lol-2:

yes, you will need to hit the report button and ask mods to delete. You can only edit a short period of time after you post then that option is removed. I can't remember what the specific amount of time is.

I wonder how long it takes for them to remove a post?

usually not too long, but kind of depends on how soon they see your request. Hopefully it will be soon.

I agree. I would never have designed this ring, this way if the OMC had been colorless….

7.30 seems like it will stick up too high. Does anyone know more about this because I cannot picture it.

Mine is 7.15mm. My ring is not too high, I’d call it mid height. With the full under gallery, you add height. Here is a side fire of 7.15mm .35MM is nothing, so you ring would be close to this…
