IMHO before you make any quick decisions you might want go get yourself some calipers so you can actually measure the size of the mold and compare it to your CAD.

The whole purpose of the mold is to look exactly like your ring, I've never heard of it being bulkier. The prongs on the mold will be bigger because that's how they are made in the mold so the setter has more than enough metal to play with when he fabricates the prongs. You can snip them off the mold if you want.

Good idea! The only reason I thought the mold was bigger than the actual ring would be is because I read somewhere that they are usually bigger and bulkier.

I would imagine DKJ molds would be pretty true to scale though, the more I think about it. I’ve never had a mold to compare but the calipers are a great idea. Thanks
