Nope, not over this . . . that will happen when we have to put a new heat pump on our house before fall!!!

Oy. Sorry babe.

Home repairs like that stink!

Seriously!!! But we have basically two options at this point:

1) Put a new heat pump on the house, which will take care of most of our heating this winter (with our relatively new and decently efficient oil furnace acting as a back-up) AND the heat pump will also replace our VERY old and inefficient air conditioner, or

2) Pay probably somewhere around $3,000 to feed oil to our oil furnace this winter (and every winter for the next few years until we move), and HOPE our air conditioner hangs on for a few more summers (until we move).

Sometimes, between gas prices and heating oil prices, I wish oil had never been discovered!

I hear you on that one! Sounds like you''ve come up with the best option!

OMG, I love this cut and these stones. I want it really bad. I want a big one. :::::sigh:::::

Does it sparkle? OMG, I wish I hadn''t seen this thread. I really, really want a snowflake. The symmetry is beautiful.

Because I know so little about gems and I am just now learning, why can''t a diamond be cut like this?

I thought I had seen a snowflake somewhere - how about set in a ring like this?

Thanks for finding this, as it gives me a better idea as how it could look with a prong setting. I would go with white gold, just because it looks better on me. Not sure whether I would want melee on it though, as I would want the stone to be front and center.

That''s it....I''m getting one....it is just a matter of WHEN.....would it be wrong to wear it year round????

Awesome, right? Here''s the silver:

silverflake2555.JPG

A 10is mm silver is on my life list. I did email RH to ask about these, and he is just the sweetest guy over email. He (at the time) could do them for about $700, the bigger ones (12-13mm) were closer to a grand. Here''s the old info.

Silver topaz, 23.14 ct 16.1x16.1x11.8 $1050

Silver topaz, 34.15 ct 18x18x13.8 $1500

Swiss Blue topaz 29.95ct 17.3x17.3x13.2 $1500

Coolest thing ever. I want one set like the pendant above, but with claw prongs

I''m in love! I''m obsessed with hexagonal stones, settings.. I want a silver topaz now! Thanks for posting this!

Yay! Okay, looking at that, I have the following thoughts:

1. Definitely white gold.
2. Definitely bezel.

3. 12mm too big for a ring (for me. I have little hands).
4. Pendent?!?!

Thanks for posting that Elegant!

Simple solution, get a ring + matching pendant!!

It is so much fun spending other people''s money...

I am with you on the size for the ring, I would probably go with 10mm too. What color are u thinking of, still the blue topaz? Silver is pretty too, but I think the cut would stand out more in the blue, right?

I''m not really a fan of the silver. Not sure why, but the blue just looks so beautiful with that snowflake!

And I would totally wear it year round, LOL.

Yeah, I agree, too big for a ring - even with my size 9''s!

You are welcome! I thought I had seen this before - I am a total NEWBIE to the whole colored stone idea!
Bezel, huh? I could definitely see that! ANd yes, a white colored metal!

WOW! Thanks so much for posting this!
I have been wanting to start my colored stone collection and I think this is the perfect thing to start with.
Does anyone know if this can only been done with Topaz?
And is topaz strong?
Def thinking RHR! Very similar to the one posted!

We'd LOVE to have you play with us here in Coloured Stones! (and we don't even have voting booths!)

I love that snowflake cut. I''d love one in a pink gemstone!

I''ve got two snowflake Wobito cuts (a pink tourmaline and a tanzanite - very different to the ones here) also very pretty and a joy to look at if you like unusual cuts.

My suggestion would be to email Richer Homer (the man behind the snowflake I posted) at [email protected] and ask him what/if he can/would cut you a snowflake in a different color. He's been extrememly helpful with all of my inquiries thus far.

ETA: It's fun to play in colored stones, LOL!

For Lost Sapphire and Geckodani

Here's the pink tourmaline:

And the Tanzanite - this is set into a pendant (and is shown in a ring box - I know the photo looks a bit rude!!!)

Thank you LD! Purple is my favourite colour!

Not rude in the least! It is very lovely.

LS

ETA the pink is also quite nice!

Thank you LS. The Tanzanite is not top grade and I knew that but it still has a good saturation and shows lots of pink and red glints so that makes up for it!

I''m not a fan of pink tourmaline generally which is why I haven''t set this one. It''s got a bit of a grey hue (or maybe that''s just my eyesight) but it doesn''t make me go weak at the knees! I still appreciate the cut though.

Oh wow! Those are AMAZING! Thanks for sharing!

Drooooooooooooooooool

OMGosh that Tanzanite is awesome!! A few years ago I was in South Africa and looked at buying some Tanzanite, but I was kinda young and had little funds, but I regret not getting something to this day. We are planning on Honeymooning in Africa so i will be sure to get some this time! LOL

Lost~ Thanks! I really really do want to play over here! Looks like I may be able to bc the FI loves the snowflake!
