So my GF lives in Canada, I live in the US. She likes a ring up there at a jewelry store in the mall (not a chain, they only have one shop). It's a 2.1 carat FLY VS2 yellow center stone, with two half-moon sides on a simple platinum band (with yellow gold prongs for the center stone). The price was "regular 33k, on sale 25k (with tax/duties 28k)" - which hurt my wallet...was only looking to spend 15k, but I could make 25k work and I want her to be happy. ANyways, I got a business card from the sales manager, and emailed him a couple weeks later in an attempt to negotiate (email below)... the goal was to try to negotiate and get it around 25k after tax. The dude completely ignored my email, and I know he read it .... so, should I try to call and follow-up, or just screw them altogether and build a similar ring online? James Allen has a center stone with the 'same specs' for 15k, no tax etc. The only thing I have a hard time finding is a platinum band with half-moon sides and a yellow gold center prong (all have platinum prongs!)
Anyways, I'm a total neophyte when it comes to jewelry, so would like any opinions on how to proceed - want to please my GF, but also feel the jeweler was rude to ignore my email - a simple 'no, sorry' would have been fine (BTW is my email offensive? see below...)

Hi XXXXX We met a couple weeks ago - I wanted to follow up about the yellow diamond ring I saw priced at 25k. I've been doing research on yellow diamonds with similar ratings and figure there must be some wiggle room on the price - I wanted to check with you on price flexibility before deciding which of the rings we saw to go forward with.
To let you know where I'm coming from, the closer we could get to a 20k price point (assuming an all-cash purchase), the more willing I'd be to move forward with a purchase; alternatively, it would also help if there were any ways to get creative with tax since I live in America (not sure if you ship - although I'm planning on being back in Canada November/December)
Anyways...I dont have a strict timeline. We are visiting family in Los Angeles in October and planning to look at more rings there, but i'm willing to move forward now if the price is right
thanks for your time...
