Hi All! I am actually not engaged yet. My ring is ordered

though and my boyfriend and I are trying to make prearrangements for our wedding because we plan to have a short engagement. So, my question is this. I have found a band that is jazz/big band/swing that I love. They play sinatra, bennett, martin, fitzgerald etc. They are very upbeat yet elegant. I think they would be perfect for the atmosphere I am hoping for but I am worried some people may not feel comfortable dancing to this music. Obviously, I want my guests to enjoy themselves. What are your opinions??? Thanks in advance!

i think even if people don''t feel comfortable right away, that type of music is classic and always fun to dance to. what kind of music do you think everyone would be comfortable dancing to?

obviously i dont know who would be coming to your wedding, but at mine it''s going to be mostly family and then our friends too, but the majority will be family who are older (as in over 35) and i definitely plan on having mostly older music..oldies/sinatra, bennett, martin, fitzgerald/80s/newer fun music, which i think is universally fun to dance to!!

I think it''s great! We''re hoping for a similar band for our reception. Our group is just not the "YMCA" type, and I think that music is so timeless and classy. And really, who doesn''t like it??

I say go for it!

Thanks KaraSue! I agree with you. However, the weddings I have been to recently all had cover bands. While they are fun, that is not my style for a wedding reception. Most of our guests will be older and our close friends are all close to 30. I will dance to anything but was worried for those who are more timid and may not be used to dancing to jazz but rather have listened to it during cocktail hour...Thanks again for your post!
