hi pricescope! ive been lurking on the forums for a bit but this is the first time posting!

so i've been trying to buy a diamond online due to the current circumstances and have decided on an natural oval diamond around 2ct with >I color, >VS2 clarity, VG-EX polish/symmetry, L/W ratio 1.4-1.5, my budget is around $10k-15k for the diamond with a petite pave setting.

i purchased this one on James Allen for $10.8k and it fit all of my criteria: https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/oval-cut/2.01-carat-i-color-vvs2-clarity-sku-10190180

im just wondering, is this diamond priced well and how are its specs? from my googling the table and depth are in very good range but i don't know about the crown height/pavilion depths. do you think this diamond is worth it or should i invest like 5k more for better color, etc. from my research just going up to H color, its like a $5k increase in price for not much improvement in color just by looking with your eyes. or should i consider round diamonds that hide the color grade better? i can always upgrade in the future but i would rather not spend $18-20k right now if i dont have to...

I’m not an expert to comment much on the specs but personally I’m not a fan of the diamond as it looks really tinted. You might also do a little research on IGI grading as I think it’s less strict than the GIA.

It has a distinct tint in my opinion- I would consider an H or higher for ovals or pears because I think the color really concentrates in the shallower cut ends. I don’t love this one. Are you sure about oval versus round? You can also go to a VS1 or VS2 and have an eye clean stone and potentially balance that with a higher color grade and still hit your budget. Are you only looking at JA or considering other vendors?

Are you buying for yourself or your GF? asking because it's important to be 100% sure on shape. Ovals vs round are very different in terms of overall look.
