Treated myself today to this sunstone ring. The stone size is approx 10x9mm. It looks to have a good saturation as I prefer stones with a stronger saturation. I little bit of schiller can be seen on some photos. It is in 9ct good and I paid £80. It looks a good strong reddish colour but will be interesting to see if any other colours are apparent.

I plan on putting in a protective setting in the future. Any thoughts would be welcome! =)2

Pretty colour @Niffler75 and a good size, you don’t see a lot of sunstone around these days, do you?

@Niffler75, I think it's beautiful! Lovely shape, size and color. I like how saturated the color is. Please post pics when you get it.

I'd like to see additional pictures. It looks a nice color and cut. I've stayed away from sunstone and rhodochrosite because they're not durable stones, although they're beautiful in their own ways.

I would urge you to think twice about swapping settings, because I worry that just the process of unsetting and resetting could damage the stone.

I certainly will post photos when it arrives. I am quite fascinated with sunstone and am keen to see if there are any other colours present. The vendor sent additional photos and at certain angles you can see a bit of schiller.
I was also surprised at the price as have seen sunstone jewellery for alot more.
Does anyone else have sunstone in their collections as I would love to see some photos! =)2

@voce I take your point about damaging the stone having it reset. Thanks for your advice! ;)2

Ive never heard of a sunstone before and im a bit weary of red, but that's a lovelly shade
im looking forward to hand shots

:wavey: Yes ma'am, hand shots will be uploaded as requested!
Thanks for your lovely feedback.

:eek2: Weary of red? How could you?

Its all psycological ;)2
Had to wear it as a work uniform for 14 years , even the really pretty girls who suited it - if you saw them on their day off -everyone looked so much better not in red

Now i do love orange .....:mrgreen2:
Red just doesn't suit my colouring

But i like the hues in this sunstone
There are russet tones coming through that i love

Ok my sunstone has arrived. I am super happy. It has an awesome glow I am guessing from the copper platelets. It measures 11x9mm and has yellow beryl side stones. It is super shifty to photograph but when you zoom in really close you can see the schiller. =)2 I only paid £79. Your thoughts would be welcome guys!

@missy and @Bluegemz thanks guys. Been doing quite a bit of research and have caught the sunstone bug big time! :-o
I found the oregonsunstoneguide.com has some fantastic information on colours and grading of sunstone. Now I am after a teal/ bicolour for a pendant! :evil2:

I understand! I do not have any sunstone, but LOVE feldspars! I’ve collected grey, gold and blue moonstones, labradorite, Amazonite and moonstone feldspar bangles. Would love to add a sunstone someday along with other varieties. They are just beautiful. I love the idea of a Teal one:)

Oh @Niffler75 good job, that is a gorgeous sunstone! I like your pictures so much more than that vendor picture. :P2

Please be careful while wearing the sunstone so it lasts ages!

@voce Thanks lovely. :mrgreen2:Will need to get a photo outside as well as it's super sparkly. The actual size of the stone is a bit bigger than I thought too so a bonus! Now for my next Ebay bargain.......:evil2:

The colour is more beautiful in your photos !
I really love it
